I am really impressed with the coaches and management at this location. I began learning boxing fundamentals with a personal trainer and when I outgrew him, started to look for a place that would help me advance. I'm so glad I tried UFC! The manager, Weber, is really engaged with the members. He knows everyone's name and ensures that they are getting the experience they want. The coaches I've worked with so far are very experienced, fun, and help each member individually. Lorenzo is fantastic. It is clear he cares about each of his students and knows how to help them whatever level they are at. So disappointed in the owner of this gym. I've been doing this for 13 years. Started in California in fight gyms before there ever was a UFC Gym. In fact, one of my coaches in OC is the former WEC fighter who started up UFC Gyms for Dana. So I have a good sense of a good gym when I'm there. I started at the UFC Gym when it was in Herndon. Great trainers! Loved the location. Plenty of space. But one day I showed up and there was a new owner who fired everyone. Okay, I stuck it out, but the real shocker was moving to the tiny location in Reston (terrible angular and small gym - and way too packed for its size). Because I was training 1:1 with a Muay Thai coach, I moved to the new location (albeit unhappy about it). Later, I moved to Arlington and was training out of a Title Boxing gym for a couple of years - loved everything about that gym. But I recently moved back to Reston, and because this UFC Gym is across the highway from where I live, I thought I'd just go back there for convenience. Went in a few weeks ago, dropped $400+ to re-establish my former membership with monthly payments. Saw Noah there...really liked the guy, so felt at home. Andrew was great as well. BUT.... The owner, who doesn't mind pulling surprises on his patrons, pulled another fast one again. This was my fifth session back, and I go in, and...the owner had fired the manager and the coaches left with him. Okay, I get it, finding good managers is not easy, but usually when you have a management problem, look up not down for the real problem. I was livid. This owner did not have a backup plan. Some sessions have been cancelled while they try to find trainers. And they sent someone from the owners other gym to fill in for a while. I only blame the owner for the condition of the gym, the current state of its management, and the fact he really doesn't care about the patrons who spend $$$/month to go there. So, I'll eat the $400+ I gave him a few weeks ago to help make his car payment, and will be finding another gym soon that is run like a UFC Gym should be run. I will also be sending UFC corporate a nice email. If you go there...good luck. read more

Been going here over a year and absolutely love it! Started because I was bored of the traditional gym. Lifting weights and wanted to switch it up. It's a different style of working out but all the instructors are very helpful, especially when you're new, and really work to help to correct your fundamentals. It takes practice and consistency but you definitely get better over time. You can do what I do and just do classes or if you really want to get serious about marital arts they offer more advanced programs. Definitely deserves a 5 star review as there really are no cons for me. I never have an issue getting into a class. I've never taken a class with an instructor I didn't like. And it's no more expensive than any quality gym membership. read more

Fast forward about 9 months ... the management churn at this gym is incredible, but somehow UFC Reston manages to retain or hire some excellent boxing instructors like Ricardo, Lorenzo and Mike. I highly recommend their classes as they can help you to get your boxing technique right as they've helped me, and you'll definitely burn a good number of calories. With a few options in the area why UFC Herndon? Well, well I've tried all the UFC's in the area and this location has been my favorite every time. The management is welcoming and inviting. The facility is clean and also has various classes besides boxing as well as a gym with a squat rack, weights and a bench. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and KICK ASS! I took a class with Carlos recently and he is great about making everyone feel comfortable and included. I loved his music choices and his positive vibes. Plan to do plenty of push-ups, jumping jacks, various ab exercises and boxing combos. You'll find yourself feeling empowered and energized. Depending on when class is you'll be ready to take on your day or your couch. Go Go Go! read more

Fantastic gym. I've taken courses with Noah, Ian, Rich, Josh, and Vinny and they're all fantastic with their own styles. The goal at this UFC Gym isn't to break you, but to teach you how to fight and to push yourself. Not only do these guys have fight experience, but they're also excellent trainers. The biggest advantage UFC Gyms have besides the awesome trainers is the fact you get a weight room (more or less) and every class is essentially a large personal training session. You don't have to worry about counting sets or reps or making your own workout schedule. There's no extra cardio to do because you're always moving. Last, like Gold's, everyone really is there to get into shape. There are for sure fighters there, but at this UFC Gym at least, noone's trying to intimidate you or start a fight. I signed up with this gym in 2009 and it has been my passion ever since. The gym is located above Panera Bread and a delicious sushi place. On the second floor you can find Down Dog Yoga and the UFC gym. Sort of a little funny to me but it works. The parking lot can be busy but I recommend parking underground because it is super easy and allows you after the gym to go to other places within the shopping area. Maybe get some grocery shopping done at Harris Teeter or grab a bite at one of the many restaurants. Anyway, the gym has plenty of great instructors who will help you meet your needs. On Saturdays they sometimes have sparring with one of the trainers. This is very valuable to improve your technique. read more

I love this gym. A little bit bigger than the Fairfax gym but since I moved closer to Herndon UFC, I go here now. I do have to say the instructors in Herndon are better than Fairfax (some not all). Matt F. Is my favorite and by far the best here so you have to try a class with him. He actually walks around and comes to you and tells you what you can work on, what you're good and what are some changes you can work on. A lot of the other instructors just stand in the front of the class and don't walk around at all. Calvin M. will give you burpees for DAYS that seems to be his favorite thing. I'm complaining but I know its good for me. Everyone has their own style and technique so you just have to try each person and see who can kick your ass more. You learn a lot and you feel better after each class. Love this gym and will be going here for a very long time! read more

I'm giving this three stars because I like the gym and I like the workout classes. However, I don't love the schedule, but that's not what this post is about. First of all, they won't tell you about all the charges that you will see in the future. They forgot to tell me about a $39 charge that randomly happens four months in, and they said it was in my "agreement" so I just had to pay it... Not cool. They should have told me about this charge in person. Second, I signed up for this gym in Herndon, and told them I would be moving to Arlington in the next few months. They said they have a gym in Arlington and I could just use both! Great. However, I haven't had time to go enough to get my money's worth, so I have to cancel my membership. I go in person to the Arlington location, and they tell me they can't cancel it for me since I registered in Herndon, so to call them. Annoying. So I call the Herndon office and try to cancel over the phone but they tell me I have to be in person. So basically, I have to drive 35 minutes each way (without traffic just to go and cancel my membership. And I won't be able to do that until I have a free weekend day, so they will likely get another week out of me just because of the inconvenience. Make sure you are aware of all the terms and conditions before you sign up for this gym. read more

I LOVE this gym. It's smaller than I expected when I first walked in (not the type of gym you go to "lift", etc) but the classes are well worth the money. My favorite part about the gym are the instructors. Each instructor has their own style of training so you get a very diversified experience. Some classes are easier than others, some focus more on cardio/interval reps while others focus on boxing basics, etc. I like to adjust my schedule by my mood that day. All of the instructors are good about walking around and helping you improve while still giving you space and not making you uncomfortable. But most important... You leave exhausted because they just kicked your butt!! Besides boxing/kickboxing classes they also offer other classes like Jui-Jitsu and DUT (kind of like a mini bootcamp). So you have other options in case you are tired of hitting the bag. You can also get one-on-one training, but that's extra. Overall, great place to challenge yourself. The instructors are friendly, as well as other members. And Chris (the manager) is the best!! read more

Carlos is my favorite go-to teacher for boxing conditioning, and I've always left feeling accomplished about the sessions. I am absolutely in love with this gym! Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about UFC Reston-Herndon. Not only are the workouts amazing, but the staff here is genuinely one of a kind and that itself it rare. Chris, the general manager is so personable and goes above and beyond for us members. The atmosphere is always positive and full of energy and makes going to the gym something to look forward to. The classes are tough, but it's incredible to see how fast your endurance and strength can build by going a few times a week. The instructors constantly mix up the workouts so it's never boring and there are many different types of classes to choose from. I have been a member since October 2013. Before that I belonged to a number of local gyms, but nothing comes close in comparison. Also, in the last couple months I started taking personal training sessions with Jeremy because I hurt my knee and wanted to focus on strengthening it. I never could have anticipated how much I've benefited from adding his PT sessions into my workout routine. He has helped me strengthen my knee and customizes my workouts so it's enjoyable, but still works towards achieving my objectives. read more

I have been going to UFC Herndon for almost 3+ years and have seen lot of changes. I have to mention "Chris - The General Manager" in my opinion he has changed the face of UFC Herndon. Membership has been doubled tripled under his time and obviously trainers like Brian, Seth, Calvin , Jeremy, Jimmy and Matt played a huge role in this transformation. The boxing is a great cardio workout, and the various trainers each bring a different style of intensity/emphasis. My previous gym membership at another boxing club had trouble keeping quality professional staff, and the boxing there was run by college kids without real training. So it is great to have a professional staff at UFC with the level of experience they have. As a former Div 1 athlete, I have had extensive fitness training and truly enjoyed the Daily Ultimate Training routines that focused on core strength and mastering your body weight via agility, plyometrics and strength exercises, etc. I was very impressed with Jeremy's knowledge, philosophy and instruction. read more

Excellent Gym! All instructor/coaches are really good and each bring a twist of diversity to their work outs. The hours for the classes are spread apart enough to cover a full range of time for everyone's busy schedule. Everyone seems to be friendly and helpful at the gym which creates an awesome environment for everyone. Restrooms could be larger and lockers would be ideal, but there doesn't seem to be any problems from this. I highly recommend this gym for anyone that is looking to get fit or is looking to learn a specific fighting art. read more

My most heartfelt thanks to Chris Tonkinson for ensuring I had a great experience with UFC Gym. The boxing class was great, but what was exceptional was the customer service Chris provided. I was new to the area but I didnt feel out of place at all. Everyone was there to work out, based on their own capacity. I didn't feel like I had to push myself because it would be embarassing if I could not keep up. Nope. There was no pressure. It didn't matter that I was new. I also didn't have the fill out pages and answer a million questions just to get started. Nope. It did't matter that I didnt have gloves too because Chris let me borrow a pair. This is my kind of gym. You go in, feel relaxed, focused on the training, and have a great time. If I could, I would come here everyday for the rest of my stay at Herndon. read more

I came here to get out of a rut both mentally and physically. First it was scary, but after talking to the staff, you just feel that they want to make you feel better as a person! I felt very unwelcome when visiting this gym for the first time to see about membership options. The staff did not even want to show me around the room? It seemed like the 10-15 minutes I spent trying to get my questions answered, he spent trying to convince me I didn't belong there and didn't understand what kind of gym it is. He repeated that they usually encourage interested people to try out a class first, but had no inclination to sign me up for one, explain what types of classes were available, or even share a schedule. The price ($79-99/month) plus a hefty down payment seems high for what they appear to offer, although it's still unclear to me what they offer or even their hours, etc. I didn't get the information I was looking for, was completely discouraged from pursuing it. I've never felt discriminated against at a gym, but this experience had me questioning how I would have been received if I more closely fit the demographic I found in the gym at the time. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this gym...they will whip you into shape...the instructor throws all kinds of combinations keeps you in suspense. My arms are so sore but I love it. The customer service is great, no hidden charges. I would well worth the monthly price which is not bad considering other local boxing training classes. I have been a UFC member since 2012 was at another local UFC gym and hated it...switch over and it was the best decision ever. Great gym. Boxing andk KBox classes are great. It's a fighter gym so guys are actually training for amateurs fights but still very welcoming. Workouts are a pretty challenging. They have weight machines and some cardio. Great environment for a good workout! read more
