This is an amazing trail that sits in the middle of an urban area. The trail has a East entrance by…read moreNichols Park & a West entrance just off Main Street Kaysville & Nichols Road. It sets in the drainage of Baer Creek. City has made this into a great trail for walking, biking, running or just enjoying nature. Most of the trail is shaded by 60'+ Cottonwoods, Willows, Mountain Ash and Boxelder Trees. The creek is running mainly in the Spring and after a good rain. Trail splits and has 2 paths to follow which all connect back together. Wild raspberries & wild blackberries can be found all along the trail. Service berries, Chokecherries and other wild edibles can also be found. There are benches spaced out along the sides to take a rest or just take it all in. There are restrooms available at the park pavilion just 100 yards south of the trail. Haven't seen much wildlife except birds. Most of the trail has shredded bark laid down on the trail. If you walk from west to east and follow the loop it's about 2.3 miles. An awesome walk anytime of the day with new things to discover each time I walk it. Check it out! There was literally not another soul on this trail today and being terrified of hiking alone, I was a little skeptical. No need, Nervous Nellie, this easy 1 mile walk is a piece of cake. Would be perfect for kids. Or someone who is trying to avoid work for an hour, let's say. Lots of shade, breezy and no treacherous aspects. Wooded in parts, little streams, flocks of dragonflies. Lizards. Ants. Very well maintained and safe. I went farther than the trail indicated, but not far enough to see if anything really amazing was at the end, before I realized I needed to be in a meeting and high tailed it back to my vehicle. Oops. A few other trails here that looked great too - nice views of the surrounding mountains and valley.

They also hold big, citywide events here with plenty of space for vendors, performances and food trucks. There are a couple playgrounds with modern, well-kept equipment. Tree cover is great in some areas, sorely lacking in others. A fenced-off community pool is located on the grounds as well. Two pavilions, one with a capacity of 150, the other 100. Parking is abundant.

It seemed most of the parks around were memorial parks with no playground. Then, we found Skyline Nature Park and it has become a family favorite! There's a little bit here for everyone: playground for the kids, open grass for laying down a picnic blanket, pavilion for hosting parties, walking paths, and an exercise park to burn some calories (has exercise stations such as pull up bar, sit up bench, etc). The playground is dinosaur themed which they incorporated perfectly into the equipment. The little one loved that! There were benches immediately around the playground so I could sit and watch. There was even a fun little electronic light game that I enjoyed! Pick a game on the sign and then you will jump around the system hitting lights to score points (1-player or 2-player options). If you're looking for a great place to gather with family and friends, get in some good exercise, or just need the kids to burn off some excess energy before dinner, Skyline Nature Park is the place to go!
