Night Lights hosts a lantern event at the Utah Motorsports Campus (UMC) three times a year. It's about a 45 min drive from SLC. The tickets sell out fast so I would recommend getting on the waitlist as soon as you know you're going to go. https://www.nightlightsevent.com/utah Pro Tip: If you're going to attend this event, keep in mind the following things. -Bring portable outdoor chairs and blankets. It's going to be a bit of a wait before the lanterns launch and you'll need to pick a spot in the crowd to set up a mini camp. Outside food and drinks are not allowed but they do have food trucks and s'mores kits onsite. -Group Setting. It's better to attend this event in a group (2+ or more) if you plan on lighting the lanterns. It's possible to light it yourself but it's quite a challenge if there are strong winds. -Dress accordingly to the weather and bring insect repellent. Depending on the area, there could be swarms of mosquitos and gnats. It will start off hot in the day but can get colder throughout the night. Some people will bring outdoor blankets. -Arrive early. Plan to arrive two hours early before the lanterns are lit up. This allows you to pick a spot to camp and get dinner from the various food trucks. -Central Location. When setting up camp, I would reccomend being somewhere in the middle of the lantern lighting area to maximize light impact. If you're located on the edges, then your pictures won't turn out as well in comparison to being in the middle. Even though your pictures will turn out better, you're also more at risk of breathing in the fire pit smoke and getting hit by the lanterns that are released by other groups. TL;DR (Beware) Central location = Better pictures, greater risk of breathing in black smoke and getting hit by fire-lit lanterns. -Dirty and Black Smoke. For those with asthma or sensitivity to smoke, I would highly recommend to skip this event. Night Lights sell "s'mores kits" which comes with a fire pit, a bag of marshmallows, box of Graham crackers, and skewers. These fire pits are fun BUT cause a lot of smoke in the area and can make it hard to breathe for some people. (See attached picture) -Allow the lantern to completely fill up with air before letting it go. There were soooo many people who released their lanterns too early and the lanterns ended up floating on the ground and almost burning people. I'm pretty certain some people may have actually gotten burnt but fortunately my group didn't get impacted and there was medical staff on-site. Overall, the pictures are memorable and the event turned out fun. I would recommend attending it at least once in your lifetime. Would you go? Let me know. In peak travel season, its not polite to no be open when advertised. I would understand if this were off season, but peak August? It seems this place has maybe high school or college aged kids running it? Each season, the ranch adds new activities, and despite the growing crowds, it never feels too packed thanks to the wide-open space and plenty to do. Our kids make a beeline for the corn pits first thing--they could play there for hours! They're also big fans of the giant slide and obstacle course. As a dad, I have to say their burgers are top-notch--some of the best you'll find at any local event. Just don't wait until the end of the night like I did, or you'll be stuck in a long line. And whatever you do, don't skip the donuts! They come in cinnamon sugar and glazed, and while both are amazing, the glazed ones are my personal favorite. The hayride is always a relaxing highlight of the evening. If you plan to visit later in the day, make sure to dress warmly--it gets chilly fast once the sun goes down! It might even be nice if the ranch offered blankets for guests on those cold nights. One small suggestion for the staff: at the rock climbing wall, please make sure younger kids get assigned to the easier side. My 7-year-old was put on the harder one and only made it a few feet up, but she still had fun trying! Overall, Cross E Ranch continues to deliver an unforgettable fall experience. A delicious lunch at Costa Vida, a few hours of fun at Skinny Dogz (formerly Fat Cats,) and then a movie at the Megaplex. We were surprised to find out that Fat Cats is now called Skinny Dogz, but it was the same great place we remembered from before. The girls were excited to play laser tag, so we did that first. I was very impressed with how modern and exciting the laser tag arena was. I have played many times over the years at other places, but this arena had some really cool features I hadn't seen before, such as time delayed "laser bombs" that would hit anyone exposed in all directions. You activate them by shooting at the target enough times, then get out of the way fast! We also had a lot of fun at the arcade. At first the girls stood around not seeing anything that interested them, but after a few minutes, they found some games that they liked, and within about an hour or so they were begging us to reload their cards so they could play more. I enjoyed the air hockey table, and loved the motorcycle race game. (There were two, but the ones to the left were my favorite.) I learned that if you take first place, you get to race again for free. Before leaving, we cashed in our virtual tickets for a bunch of fun prizes. We didn't have enough to get anything big, but we had plenty of candy to eat during the movie, and a bunch of fun toys, including a super bounce ball, which my friend had to confiscate from one of the kids for bouncing it in the hallways at the movie theater later. I finally put my foot down and said I was coming to pick it up. They wanted to charge me for all the hours and parts but after some deserved complaining they charged me $63 for a battery... And the bike won't even run now!!!! It ran before but had a high idle and was running rich. Taking it elsewhere tomorrow.... I have had multiple machines worked on by DAB but not since Dave passed away. Now MRM Motorsports apparently... Stay away at all costs!

Great place to race your RC's! They also have a store front that is well stocked with the major…read moreracing brands. The folks that run the place are very knowledgeable and eager to help out. They have a great layout and the track is updated frequently. The patrons are also mostly friendly and many of the experienced racers are also eager to help share their knowledge and experience. All of these things are what got me into casually racing. Maybe after I get some experience, I'll get more competitive.

We travel from out of state to go to this facility and not once but twice we have shown up to open race times according to their posted schedules on their website and Facebook only to find out that their is no open race time and entry to even join the races were closed. Let alone sign ups have been open for weeks we find out when we call and spoke to a girl. Who didn't even apologize for mistake on their end for not keeping up with schedules. We will not continue to support this business if this how they think it should be ran. I know others probably look at the schedules on their website and Facebook and show up and end up not being able to enjoy their hobby and love for RC cars. Good luck to anyone traveling from out of town to go open rc car time frames.
