Wish I'd read reviews! Heber Store... So "Steve" from Heber came and gave me a quote, 2K plus, to redo our gas and use fake logs. "2 weeks" says "Steve" and here's my "private" number. Well that turned out to be a answering exchange where we could only leave a message. But we kept trying to get ANYBODY to return a call, but that never happened. After two months we got a call that they installation would take place and we got a date. WRONG logs! Three weeks later we drove to the Heber showroom to complain to a poor employee who had looked us up on the computer and said the stock line answer service line "someone will give you a call". Two weeks later, they brought the logs. They are most UNRESPONSIVE company I ever had the regretful experience to do business with and I don't know how they stay in business. Maybe because fools like me don't read the reviews and give them a down payment. read more

I recently had Uintah Gas Fireplace out to repair one gas fireplace and clean/check a second. The first one was experiencing a problem with the glass screen becoming all covered with black soot during use. The second, while working fine, was due for a cleaning and I certainly did not want both fireplaces to cease functioning during the peak of the winter heating season. It did take about 4 weeks for an appointment to be scheduled, likely due to the time of year. However, the re-confirmation for my appointment was done several days out, and on the day of service, my technician texted ahead of time so I knew when to expect him. Upon arrival, he had a mask and protective shoe covers, which was appreciated for obvious reasons. He quickly determined the cause of the problem with the first fireplace and thoroughly cleaned out the pipes and various parts. I like that he took the time to discuss with me how it works and recommended cleaning and maintenance. The second fireplace was also quickly cleaned and now both look brand-new and work better than ever. I see that the Yelp community gives them a low number of stars - but my personal experience was really fantastic. I would recommend them and hopefully you'll have the same experience as I did! read more

Getting a fireplace came with unforeseen hurdles that had to do with COVID and the model we ordered not showing up when it was supposed to, and then finding out our home gas line to the fireplace had been disconnected at some point. Everyone at Uintah went above and beyond to help us get everything worked out. So yes, it took a bit longer but it was SO worth it to get everything the way we wanted it. I know they are under new ownership and I couldn't be more impressed. Thank you Zacory and everyone who helped schedule, made multiple visits, and got it up and running. I love it so much! read more

I would give a zero if I could. I called for my fireplace to be repaired. I paid for the part and then they went radio silent. I called a few weeks later to follow up and told they would look into it and call me back. Never called back. I called again and said the part was received and install appointment was set up for 2 weeks later. The day of the appointment I received a call that the part was not delivered and still at the distribution center and appointment rescheduled for 2 days later. The day before the new install date or the next day, I received a call that the part I paid for and was supposedly received, was not being made anymore. My mother received a bid from them and other fireplaces dealers in the area, and it was obvious that Uintah Fireplace offers the best quality products and installation at the most competitive price. They also have incredibly responsive and friendly customer service. My mother ordered had to make a last minute change to her order and Uintah Fireplace was very understanding of her situation. I will be using them for my own future fireplace needs and will recommend them to others. read more

A technician came over and of course the fireplace worked. He checked it out and said he would clean the glass so that the $189 diagnostic visit wasn't a complete waste. This was the first time I heard about a diagnostic fee and this is the highest fee like this I have ever had. This includes visits from plumbers and electricians - this is an outrageous fee! Then later that day the fire place wouldn't turn on again and I received a quote saying that Uintah would fix it if I paid them another $550. The logic is we didn't fix it on the first visit but if you pay us more money then we will fix it. Don't use this company. read more

I had an appointment today to service my fireplace. I received a confirmation text from the technician. 45 minutes after the appointment time no one was here so I called the number. The dispatch told me the tech came by and knocked on the door and called me and since there was no response they left. They said they can't come back and will have to reschedule. They said they left a hanging sign on the door. Well, there was no hanging sign on the door and no missed calls on my phone. I have a door camera and there was no person on the footage. I am convinced that they want to another house and hung the sign. I spoke to the "sales manager" who was very unhelpful and unpleasant. He talked to me like I was asking him for a favor or trying to get something for free and not the way someone should treat their customers. Please, before you're trying to do business with Uintah Fireplace read mine and the other reviews and think twice. The way they treated me today was very unprofessional. Let alone I was trying to schedule this appointment for several weeks, they cancelled on me once before and I stayed home for this appointment only. Update: After many calls and arguments they sent the technician back to the house and he did do a good job. I am very disappointed with the dispatch and the manager who have no customer service skills and should probably be the ones sweeping chimneys. I started this fireplace process 4 months ago. I have the fireplace in, but have been waiting months for the blower so they can finish it. I call every week and it the same story. I scheduled an appointment for them to come out and fix my fireplace. I received multiple confirmation texts to which I confirmed. On the day of the appointment I received a reminder. Due to the availability of the company I had to take a half day off of work. An hour after my scheduled appointment was to begin I received a phone call saying they had to cancel and reschedule because they overbooked. Obviously this is incredibly frustrating since I had to take work off and now had to take an additional day off due to their poor communication and customer service. read more

If you're looking to get a fireplace installed I would honestly try a different place. We bought a fireplace from these guys back in December of 2019. They told us we could get in installed beginning of January and it was pulling teeth to finally get them out to do it. They said they had just changed ownership and the people that finally came to do it were nice but originally pretty unsatisfied with the communication and customer service. We chalked it up to ownership change. Now here we are 9 months later and the fireplace has stopped working. Since it's within warranty they scheduled to come out a week later and would come in a 2pm-5pm window. They called me 20 minutes prior and told me they couldn't come and they would have to push it back at least 2 weeks. So yeah...seems like their new management isn't much better. 2 stars because I actually like the fireplace but otherwise they have been pretty disappointing. I can't speak to Uintah's work because we never got to that stage. This review is for the process and for Rob Nixon and TJ Espinoza. I would not consider this company while those guys are still working there. The business changed ownership in January, but while those two are there don't do business with Uintah. In Nov 2019 I went in, sat down with TJ, and we discussed the fireplace we wanted. He later came to our house to take measurements for a bid. First red flag: I had been told by our general contractor (and later confirmed with another) that we could stub a gas line off the existing pipe in our basement, which literally had an extra fitting for an additional line. I showed TJ this but he said it probably couldn't be done, and measured from the gas meter on the other side of our house to determine the length of the line for the bid. TJ asked what our budget was, said the bid could stay within that, and that he'd send a bid over within a few days. He didn't send a bid for two weeks. The bid was confusing, didn't include everything, and was way over budget. We went back and forth and he finally got me an updated bid that was closer. I assumed that once the actual contractors took over things would be better so we decided to move forward. This was the beginning of December. TJ said they were about a month out and that his manager Rob Nixon would contact me within a week to go over the schedule and remaining details. I never heard from Rob. Towards the end of December I started reaching out to see about a starting date and figure out the remaining details (colors, hearth measurements, etc.). TJ and Rob's communication was horrible. It took multiple emails/messages to ever get responses from either. They gave me a couple of expected starting dates that came and went with no communication. We never finalized the details, despite multiple requests on my part. For a $12,000 job you would expect at least a minimal level of customer service and confidence that you're going to get what you're paying for, but we got ZERO. It was now late January and I was regretting going with Uintah. I called and told the receptionist we wanted to cancel and get a refund. This was the one time Rob got back to me quickly. I expressed our frustration and he admitted that the communication was horrible, but told me that they were planning on starting our project next and had everything lined up. I said ok well let's figure out the project details then, and he said he or TJ would get back to me that day. Surprise, they didn't. Well regardless, Rob telling me that they were planning on starting our project next turned out to be a lie. A few days later, on the day he had said they were coming in to start framing, no one showed. My wife had yet again coordinated to be home all day. No answer from anyone. The day after one of the old owners of Uintah called and said he was going over existing contracts to see if the jobs would still be possible in light of the ownership change or if they needed to issue refunds. I explained to him our job and the situation, and he said that the new company DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE ABILITY to do the cement fireplace surround we wanted. Well Rob and TJ had continued to tell me that Uintah could get this done, even weeks after the company changed ownership. The owner admitted that he had recently looked at what was going on at the company and was "appalled" to see that many things were being promised to customers that couldn't be done. He said that Rob and TJ had probably just been telling me what I wanted to hear (probably to avoid having to give us our money back). He said he would have Uintah issue me a refund. So to summarize: everything that TJ and Rob promised, including starting dates and the ability to build the project, were lies. We went through three months of headache and wasted time when these guys could have just been up front and told us they couldn't do the project in the first place. TO THE NEW OWNERS - Rob and TJ are awful with customers and they are willing to lie outright to your customers. Good luck. read more

If I could give them zero stars, I would. We purchased our fireplace in May. Ten days ago, we tried to use it and it wouldn't light. We called for service and was scheduled for the next day. We then received a call postponing the service call for a week. Then the service man did show up, he was unable to repair the fireplace because of a lack of parts. He scheduled a follow up for the next week. The night before the appointment, I called to confirm and was told they would be arriving between 9 and noon. It is now 3pm and they have not arrived. Do not buy from this company if you expect any sort of follow on support. It's pretty clear to me that they have no regard for servicing their customers. NOTE: 13 Days later.....my fireplace still isn't working and UNITA has not shown any desire to fix our problem!!!!! Don't you dare buy from them. You'll be very sorry if you did! read more

We had a gas fireplace installed by them about 2.5 years ago. 2years after installation it stopped working. We called to get it repaired and it was nearly 3 months before someone could come out. Upon coming out they did fix it but at a $900 cost. When they were called to follow up on the bill it took 3-4 attempts by me before they would call me back. They blamed that on the call service not giving them the correct number. Upon finally talking to them, I was told the breakdown would not be covered because there wasn't maintenance on the fireplace. Who does maintenance on a rarely used fireplace that is only 2 years old? They said they are under new ownership from when it was installed but I would say the new ownership is not honoring the work from the previous owner. Horrific customer service. read more

This is perhaps the most unethical business I've ever dealt with, and that's saying a lot. I bought my fireplace insert from them, but have NEVER been able to get them to fix it. Most recently, a repairman who also said he's a salesman (surprise!) told us the only solution for us was to rip it out and replace it and the entire tiled structure around it because it was out of code and couldn't be repaired. The cost? An estimated $4,000. In reality, it is entirely up to code (we had a contractor verify that), and another repairman fixed it without ripping out anything in less than an hour by replacing the blower, which is exactly what we told the Uintah repairman wasn't functioning. This business preys on people and wastes their time and money. DON'T HIRE THEM. read more

Worst experience ever! Gave me a price I paid in full then waited for months which is understandable with COVID. Finally the Big day came sent out 2 kids with zero installation skills. Proceeded to destroy my home with Sawzall and crowbars. I could see this was not going well and told them what needed to be done and was told that would be a change order and additional cost. I sent them on their way and had to double the cost of my original bid to higher the job done correctly. Most disappointing part was no offer by management or ownership to come do the job correctly. Tyler came out to service our Heat & Glow fireplaces today and did a great job. He showed up early and got right to work. Getting the fireplaces serviced has been on my To Do list since purchasing our home in 2013. Since the home is 13 years old I figured both fireplaces could use a good cleaning and the fireplace on the main level needed some additional work too. Turns out the main fireplace didn't have a blower fan and the wall switches were not functional. So if we ever wanted to use the fireplace we had to light it manually which was annoying. Tyler installed the new blower fan, got the switches working, and cleaned both fireplaces so they're looking as good as new. I'm very satisfied with the service from Uintah Gas Fireplaces and would definitely recommend them. read more

UPDATE: November 10, 2017 - it's been 2 months since I wrote the review below. They replaced the mother board twice and finally got the fireplace to turn on, but the wire to the light inside was pinched so the light was now t working. They were going to call the manufacturer and get back to me. That was 4 weeks ago. I called last Thursday to check and the office manager was out to lunch - she still hasn't returned my call. My husband called today and she's in a meeting. We're filing a complaint with the BBB and hiring an attorney to discuss breach of contract. Seriously stay away from Uinta Fireplace - if you have $6,000 to burn just build a fire - same outcome. We moved into our new home on May 1st. One of the first calls I made was to Uinta to convert the wood fireplace to gas. A salesman came out the next day and sold me a $5000 fireplace, which was installed on May 4th. Since it was summer, we obviously did not use the fireplace until last week (Sept 5). When we turned on the fireplace the fan and light did not work so I placed a service call (the fireplace is under warranty) and was given the following Monday between 12 and 3. At 3:30 on the day of the service call, I received a call that the contractor was stuck on another call and would be rescheduled for Thursday, Sept 21st between 12 and 3. The contractor came Thursday around 4pm and ran several diagnostics and said that the circuit boards were faulty and that our fireplace was a new model and that it hadn't been properly checked. He said the boards needed to be ordered and I would get a call from the office to reschedule. The office called right away and scheduled the service call for Tuesday, Sept 26th between 9 and 12. I called Monday evening to confirm and was told by a customer service rep that the appt was confirmed. At 10 am on Tuesday, a customer service rep called and said the contractor was delayed. At 1pm I called because he still hadn't arrived. At 3:30 a dispatcher called and said he was on his way. When he arrived my husband opened the door and the contractor acted as if this was his first time at our home even though he had been here last Thursday for almost 3 hours. He asked if someone had diagnosed the problem and my husband said you (the contractor) had and you said our boards were defective. The contractor said he didn't have any parts and he was sent to the wrong job. I went outside to talk to him and he left! I called Uinta and asked to speak to anyone in charge who could figure out what happened and when the fireplace would be repaired. After being on hold and subsequently disconnected, I got a customer service rep who could not help and refused to let us elevate our request to her direct supervisor. Meanwhile, my fireplace is still not working and I have no idea when this is going to be repaired. Uinta was VERY FAST when it came to taking our money, but beware they sell defective merchandise and then provide poor customer service. I would love to speak to an owner or manager but there is no way to get to one. This is supposedly a reputable family business but I find this whole incident very shady. read more

I scheduled with Uintah Gas Fireplaces to clean and service 2 furnaces for $79 each. They sent out a technician from Action Plumbing Heating and Air. The technician did absolutely no tune up or cleaning. He said both furnaces had ruined heat exhangers and needed to be replaced. This was a LIE. He refused when asked to do any cleaning at all, and persisted with a hard sell for 2 new furnaces. Both heat exchangers were just FINE as was subsequently verified by a competent technician from an honest HVAC company. (Absolute Air) AVOID these people. DISHONEST. read more

My husband & I travelled to the Holladay showroom on Wed, 6/7. The showroom person said she was new and didn't necessarily have all the answers we might need (weird business practice); however, she was very personable so we stuck around. I saw 1 insert I was interested in, but when we inquired about the price we were told that she had no prices available for anything in the showroom (again, weird business practice), but that a woman from the appointment center would call me so we could set something up for Glen/Owner to come to our home, assess our needs & provide pricing. Even though we knew that was a (slightly underhanded) sales tactic, I provided our information. I'm sorry I did. Glen took it upon himself to just come on over to my house on Fri, 6/9. When I complained that no one had called me to set up an appointment, he argued that an appointment had indeed been made. I reiterated that no one had called me and again he argued back that I WAS called... he then added that he had called me himself and he shoved his phone towards my face, showing my phone #. When I asked when he called, he said 45 mins ago and that he left a voicemail. When I pointed out that calling me & just driving over when it was convenient for him wasn't an 'appointment'. I also told him that I hadn't heard my phone or the voicemail since I was working in another part of the house and that I was not prepared to let him in. He got angry and verbally rude. Extremely unprofessional from beginning to end. Glad I will not be spending my money with this company. I listened to the voicemail after he left and all it said was that he was "done with some other bid & was heading on over. Didn't ask if it was convenient or to give him a call back. Why would someone who didn't get an answer just come on over anyway? Lastly, what is it with contractors these days that they think their time is the more valuable and that they, NOT THE CLIENT, are the boss? Bizarre! read more

make sure you ask to see their restocking fee paper work up front. had a person want to cancel within 24 hours was told that they will charge her a 25% to 30% restocking fee. they don't pick up the fireplaces until the day of or day before the install. They bullied her into staying with them. read more

If you want to be RIPPED OFF then call Uintah Gas Fireplace. Avoid this business for service at all cost. We needed to replace a fan motor, repairman had to run for the part, which we could have purchased on our own for $50-$150 for the top end product. Total project took less than two hours, pulled logs out, removed the base, slid the old motor out, and the new one in, put back together and put two screws back in to secure the glass, labor less than one hour, charged over $1000.00. Claim the part could cost them $300, double what a lay person could buy on their own, so that leaves $700+ for one hour of labor and picking up a part right up the street? Complete scam. read more

I was worried cuz of some of the reviews I read, but had them come out. Alan came out to my home to give me a quote and suggestions for upgrading my fireplace. I was impressed by the time that Alan spent going over all of the options. I ended up going with the Napoleon HD 40 fireplace. When the installer came out everything went as expected the fireplace turned out amazing. I would highly recommend them to all of my friends and family! read more

Said they would come on Wednesday and did not show up and the same thing on a Thursday. Was treated poorly the entire time (except for by the salesman, who was you know trying to sell me). Ok, visiting my daughter in Holladay, Ut. I am a Lic Plumber / Facilities Director from the East. She had been waiting for a repair since November, it was Jan 6. Young fellow showed up and of course the unit worked. The light was out and he said the cost to fix it was $480. and I started laughing. I unscrewed the four 1/4 bolts holding the glass and pulled out the bulb. Found the exact replacement on Amazon for $5.83 each. That job is about 15 min start to finish. Thieves. Now her pilot went out and she was told over the phone its and gas valve and module. I guess they diagnose over the phone. Brilliant. I had a horrible experience with this business. After waiting weeks for a salesperson to come give me an estimate for installing a gas stove I bought used, he offered to install a new stove for just $1500 more than the install quote. He said it would have warranty, remote, and blower (which my stove did not have). Seemed like a no-brainer so I sold the stove I had bought (at a loss), and put down half for the new stove. I was anxious to get it installed but whenever I would call about when it would be I'd get some excuse and be told they would get back to me. Finally after weeks, I get a text saying "sorry forgot you needed a gas line, its gonna cost another $850"! I was furious and after trying to call the owner for several days (never returned my calls), I finally got a hold of a manager who apologized and said she'd have someone call about some other options but I never heard anything back from them. Our gas fireplace stopped igniting. Action Heating and Air's repairman told us that the fireplace was about to crack and could potentially asphyxiate us, should be replaced, not repaired and charged us $59 for his advice! We went to Uintah and found a replacement would cost between $4000 and $12,000. Then we went to Hearth and Home in Sugarhouse. They sent out an expert who said it just needed repair. Ignite Fireplace's repairman cleaned, fixed and painted the fireplace so it looks and runs like new---$171 later! So if you deal with Uintah Fireplaces and Action Heating and Air, know that they have merged. Buyer beware. read more

I'm so mad I could spit nails! I can't give them a low enough rating! I called to get a bid on converting our wood-burning fireplace. The soonest they could send anyone out was a week out. After waiting FOUR HOURS I called and found out they didn't have time to come. They rescheduled for the following week. I again waited without any call from their dispatch. I finally called the office I was told they would again have to reschedule. Again, I had to wait nearly a week before they had another appointment. They told me they'd DEFINITELY send someone out between the hours of 10:00-3:00. I called at 2:00 and asked to speak to a manager. There was no manager to speak to. She assured me I was still scheduled. Two hours later, I called again and said I was still waiting. She had NO recollection of my previous call. She then informed me that I would have to reschedule but couldn't get on the schedule until two weeks later!!! read more
