They charge a premium rate of $93.00 per month but it's a mess! Lately there are gross buckets all over (see pics). Broken equipment, messy weight room upstairs... difficult to find pairs of weights because they are always scattered about. The mats are all worn out and falling apart. There's only ONE set of each dumbbells downstairs so if there are more than a few people using them, you have to wait for the weight you need. Broken machines for weeks/months on end.... Not what I expect for the price I'm paying... fix it please UVAC! read more

Seeing some of the reviews on here and honestly some of them are just crazy! I joined UVAC back in 2024 and have never had a bad experience. The staff are very kind and helpful and the gym is always clean. I was unmotivated and felt like there was no way I could ever join a gym because I didn't have the time to actually go. Because of how pleasant my experience has been and because of the fact that they have childcare, I have been able to really commit to showing up. Their classes are incredible and have given me the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and try so many new things. I'm so grateful for UVAC, they've really made a difference in my life! read more

This gym is poorly run and they have a virtual monopoly on gyms in the Ukiah Valley area. The facilties at their main gym on South State Street are old and poorly maintained. They say the pool and hot tub are saltwater but they run the system so hard that the whole gym stinks of chlorine. At the other Ukiah locations, there is never a trainer available and often no staff at all. It's often stinky there too but more like stuffy (there's no one there to air the place out, I guess). I have had billing issues that I have been unable to get resolved. I leave messages for the manager and she never gets back to me. We don't have a lot of choice in this area and now I'm locked into a contract, but I strongly suggest you avoid this place. read more

The "owner" John finally responded months after my posting. Unfortunately his response is untruthful in every aspect. After joining a different gym, the deficiencies at Ukiah Valley AC are even more apparent, and there are better choices available. UVAC is filthy, creepy and it smells . After seeing several poor reviews here, I am adding a review re: after hour events hosted by Deni Lee, the Membership Coordinator. She is internally promoting an event, Spring Power Lift 2025, which involves women squatting over a CPR dummy owned by the gym, touching the lifter's genitals to the nose of the dummy to simulate a sex act while doing squats. The person who has the most completed nose touching squats wins! The event is NOT promoted on UVAC's website or Facebook pages. Information about the event is being spread by Deni Lee and her partner/girlfriend, throughout Ukiah by word of mouth. I learned of this through someone who has signed up to participate. Can you imagine if such an event included men only, touching their junk to a dummy's nose to see who can do the most squats? This is profane, obscene and perverted. This is what comes from the Membership Coordinator at UVAC. Simulating a sex act on a CPR dummy at UVAC s is poor at best, and is not appropriate for a gym club who promotes health and wellness. Deni Lee should stick to handing out towels and being more kind to the staff and members at UVAC. See the review from 1/25/25 on poor, nonexistent customer service. If the owners of the club are behind this event, they should be held accountable. read more

The Redwood Health club is Great for- Swimming Sauna Hot tub Working out Tons of great work out machines to use. The owners are wonderful people and the workers are always polite and helpful. read more

After years and years of going to the Health club before when I was younger and even through the transition of it turning into the ukiah valley athletic club I am disgusted that a place that is meant to be community based and has had a good reputation can charge so much for our local people. You would think if it is for our community it would be a more affordable option for everybody but it's not. read more

Haven't yet tried this club since new owners. Called to ask some membership questions, was so belittled by the membership person I have decided to seek another option. Obviously this place isn't in need of new members if they can treat people with questions with such destain and disinterest. I was happy and excited when I first got the membership because I really wanted to work on my health journey and just be more productive because I have an office job so I would like to go work on the machines every once in a while and of course use the Jacuzzi but after a few months I start to get really irritated by the behavior of one of the owners... I get that it's a local business, but I just believe her to be so unprofessional. There were three incidents where she was making unnecessary comments to me and my partner but the one that crossed the line was that we would hang on each-other in the pool or I would give him a peck on the mouth... as if it was "too sexual". When I tried to bring it up to somebody above her, she said there was no one else in charge. Eventually, I was able to speak to "the other owner" I believe it was her son-in-law..? Anyways, he showed effort to make things right (somewhat) Moving on to me deciding to cancel my locker, I gave them a weeks notice and filled out the form in the office. By Nov 1, I was still charged the $10... it wasn't that big of a deal but I called them first thing around 8am and said that the money was taken out. The employee stated that they needed a three days in advance notice. I told her she needed to check with the owner because I already spoke to her about it a week ago, the employee checked then told me that the owner would reverse it right away. Today, I was still charged the $10 so I called back and I believe I was speaking with the same girl, but I was letting them know I spoke to the owner (I accidentally pronounce the owners name wrong) and I asked how long it would take to get reversed. The employee got snarky, "nobody worked there by that name" and put me on hold, when she came back she was super rude and was like do you mean "DENI" (I was off by one letter) "She said that next month you guys will be charged $10 less because she can't revere a payment that already went through." Its not what I asked for, but I agreed and then she roughly said "SO YOU ARE OK WITH THAT?". It is sad and disappointing that a customer cant ask a question regarding a concern without the employee making it bigger then what it needs to be. So this is just a bit of personal experiences that happened to me and hopefully I'm not the only one and gets known as a "Karen" but it is what it is and I'll live. Hope they learn to choose better employees who can handle certain situation a little bit better and maybe take a few training courses. read more

Not impressed. $75 a month/$85 if you want towel service is highway robbery. But, they are the best in town. Oh, Ukiah... Pros: Indoor/outdoor pools, extra hot sauna, jacuzzi, beer. Cons: Black mold in men's communal shower room, few working shower heads, dated equipment, sandpaper towels, somewhat surly staff, Precor adaptive trainers that were never fixed the whole time I was there. The management of the place is awful. Five raccoons in an overcoat could possibly do a more thorough job. Like, maybe powerwash the shower? read more

I joined the UVAC in November and my only regret is not joining sooner! It has been wonderful, truly a game changer in my life. I thought I wasn't a "gym person" but I guess you don't have to be to love this place! I come three times a week and swim in the outdoor pool. I love looking out at the mountains on either side. I can't imagine a more beautiful location to exercise. My kids come with me and go to kids club twice a week, my four year old loves it and all the young women who work there, and my 10 month old is happy enough being held and watching the big kids play. I know that if I keep bringing him he will soon see it as another place to have fun and make friends. The facilities are kept very clean. All the staff are super friendly and helpful, and you just know that trickles down from the family that owns it, in fact I often see them overseeing things and helping out. I'm glad they took on this project because I absolutely love coming here. read more

I enjoy the 2 pools and hot tub as well as the wide variety of workout equipment and weights. The locker room for women is clean with nice showers and a sauna. A wonderful asset for Ukiah and the inland Mendocino. read more

I just moved here a few months ago from Beverly Hills. Being used to my classes and The way things have moved outdoors I was shocked to see how amazing Ukiah Valley athletic club really was! All the machines are cleaned after use by staff members. I have taken the outdoor Pilates class by Jennifer she is a great instructor. This is the nicest gym in town. I used to be a member when the $50/month "special hours" pass existed and had a great time there. This membership type was discontinued for some reason. Then I couldn't afford the new rate for individuals, which is over $100/month. I implore UVAC to consider increasing access to fitness for economically marginalized people, like disabled and elderly folk. Disabled people and elderly people face the same accessibility challenges. UVAC would have me back as a lifelong member if they offered a new membership type for those of us living on social security (we're often too fragile to exercise in the outdoor temperatures, or we would just do that.) After years & years & years of paying our hard earned money for our membership even through covid, we were treated like terrorists by the older female owner. My boys jumped in the outdoor pool a few times. She said they can't. I told them not to (even though every visit everyone is jumping and rough housing in the indoor pool). I told them they can't, we'd go to the city pool another day for that kind of thing. A stranger went to talk to them, so I got uncomfortable with him. Asked him what he said to MY kids. He was giving them some breathing, racing game idea. I told them let's go inside, where people jump every visit and no one is policing. But once we went in, I told them not to jump because we don't want to break the rules & get asked again & have to leave. I had no idea that was the owner- thought probably a worker as she's announcing rules or just a member wanting to police people. I saw the guy approach her as we went in. Bad vibes. Really? Because they jumped a few times? Now let's have a trash talk. Then I texted my husband how strange the vibe was and a different worker talked to the boys. My son said she said no jumping. I said when did you jump? He said I'm not! Why didn't she speak to me? I was watching them, helping with goggles, winding up spinning boats, etc. Then the other boy was yelled at to let go of the rope as he's grabbing it to stay afloat. We were literally targeted. The lady had no compassion, no care whatsoever that we are literally not only paying members, but humans!!! No $20 refund for 30 minutes of being bullied. Canceled our membership and the lady was more than happy to. Super awful, terrible experience! These boys are extremely behaved! There is zero excuse for this! I asked the stranger through the doorway if that made him happier telling the worker to come tell the boys not to jump because the girl said she was ASKED to. He came INTO the building and approached me asking why I said that, etc. So then him and his gf I'm assuming were against myself & texted other owners. I was crying for 30 min. I have never been so targeted and treated like complete TRASH. My husband came down to talk to her too. She lied, said we swam over an hour. I have my receipt. It was 30 minutes we were there total. She treated my husband like crap too! Terrible, terrible customer service skills! Horrible treatment to other humans. I've never, ever been treated like this by anyone in my entire life! read more

Way over priced. Memberships are 3 times as much as any other gym in town. Front desk people are snobs and membership coordinator is rude. She doesn't even put forth effort into recruiting new members. Seems very inconvenienced by questions. Look elsewhere. read more

I find the club front desk to be attentive, the club has everything you would want including a ton of classes, indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub and sauna. This club is fairly priced-no club in town has everything this club does. There is never a wait for equipment and the club is kept clean. read more

Great all around! I used the women's locker room, and the bathroom and shower was clean. The indoor pool was a nice temperature and cool covered outside sitting area near outdoor pool. The elliptical and other cardio machines were in good condition. The manager, CJ was very nice and informative during the initial visit and tour of facilities. I took a swim and yoga class, and both instructors were helpful. read more
