Located in the hyatt Regency hotel is this ukulele shop. Small place but very nice selection of ukuleles. Reasonable prices and great selection. The woman who works there is so polite and helpful. Go and buy one from her!! Then you can go upstairs to the 2nd floor and see kuuipo kumakahi . Say hello to her and maybe you can play ukulele with her. So head to 2424 Kalakaua ave and visit the shop. You'll have a blast. Then go walking around the hyatt and enjoy the scenery. read more

Went twice during their posted open hours and it was closed. Waited thirty minutes past opening each time and nothing.

Very unfriendly. We walked forever to find this place. The sales associate had no interest in helping us at all. We really wanted to buy a ukulele to bring home. We barely got grunts as an answer when asking which ukulele was a concert vs soprano. read more

I live in Waikiki (born and raised in Hawai'i) and I was excited to come across this store for the first time today. I was also excited because my electric ukulele that I use to play for gigs was on its last legs. The sales associate was extremely dismissive and rude the second I walked in. They had some really beautiful designs and styles so I asked a couple of questions and the associate barely answered and with disdain. After they rang me up I asked if I could have a bag (it was gonna be a long walk home.) They said fifteen cents. I totally understood (inflation has been insane and this is common) so I said, sure no problem. I didn't have any cash on me so I gave my debit card again. And they said, "No, you have to pay cash." I understood but wished I had asked if I wanted a bag in advance so I could pay for it. The employee than said, "Go to the ABC store and see if they will give you one." I just went ahead and bought something additional in this store for $25 so that they would give me a 15 cent bag. Now, while I totally understand needing to charge 15 cents given the cost these days of over head - in terms of customer service it would be helpful to ask the customer in advance. But it was the aggressive dismissive interaction that was more disappointing. I love recommending places to my friends who visit and stay in Waikiki. I wish this could have been one of them. read more

This shop is located in a shopping center near the hotel we are staying at. I have never been into a store, just dedicated to ukuleles. The man behind the counter seemed passionate when speaking to customers at the counter. This gave me time to look around without pressure. I was impressed with the various type of ukuleles, each one had its own personality. read more

I bought my first ukulele here after taking a free lesson at the Royal Hawaiian mall. Yep, yep, I got hooked! Went looking here, and found a beginner, little cheapo, that doesn't sound so bad. The folks there were very helpful, and they also offered a free lesson. Took a free lesson from them and learned more basic notes and chords. The instructor was extremely patient and was easy to learn from. In a matter of minutes--voila!--I was learning to play "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" and a couple of other songs on the ukulele. I intend to work my way up to a better ukulele, and come back here to buy one. If you're musical or not, or you enjoy and appreciate the sounds of a ukulele, check this place out. read more

The owners only care about how much money they can make for each sale. The first person that helped us told us his sale price was exclusively only for that night, but saw the same deal a few days later. While asking another worker about a second ukulele they had on sale, another customer had grab the same ukulele and the worker allowed this other customer have it just because we weren't "holding it." They don't really care who they sell it to nor care about what we want, as long as they make the sale. I highly don't recommend this store if you're trying to find an authentic, genuine ukulele store. read more

I have been to this shop last summer in order to see if I can get a Hawaiian koa ukulele on a lower to mid budget. So I asked what my options were and I was told that on one side they had Asian made ukes and on the other wall were the Hawaiian made ones. In the end I found a soprano uke for around 400 dollars, and after asking about the low price I was told that it was a Hawaiian koa uke, however it was factory made and not by hand, hence the lower price tag. Later I found out that this was untrue, or at least very very misleading and clearly a bit of a scam (also my fault for not paying attention to detail). After some research it turns out that the uke I bought doesn't even have a brand. The logo on the headstock is very similar in style to famous Hawaiian brands like Kamaka, but doesn't fit any of them. The sticker on the inside of the body features no brand name, just says "made in hawaii" and below that has an email address ending in a @163.com domain. It turns out that is a free Chinese email provider, similar to AOL. Don't get me wrong, the uke sounds fine and looks nice, but that is not the point. I wanted something authentic from Hawaii, instead I got a Chinese knockoff. Also, you can buy a very nice looking and good sounding Chinese ukulele for less than half that price. read more

Nothing is more Hawaiian than a Ukulele. Sure you can go to an ABC store and get one for $15, but if it's a real instrument you want with quality craftsmanship, then you need to find a more viable option. Hence, this is one of them. Located in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, it's a cool place to visit. Selection here is quite large but limited to 3 to 4 brands. Ironically, not all made in Hawaii. But they are good brands nonetheless. As you can imagine, prices in Waikiki will be higher here. But you will get to try out many models, something you can't do on-line. read more

I was there while on vacation about 4 years ago. Very fine selection of professional ukuleles not just some souvenir toy. I dropped 1600.00 on a custom shop koa g-string ukulele with them and couldn't be happier with the instrument. It sounds like angels. Highly recommend this place! read more

I wanted to learn to play the ukulele. The salesperson was very helpful and assisted in helping find the right size, sound, and price. Went back two days later for a free lesson.
