I love beauty products and loved the idea of saving money by signing up for their email specials. I went there this weekend excited to use my 25% off emailed coupon. I get to the register and I said I had a coupon on my phone and tried to find it on my phone in my email. I found one and she scanned it and it didn't work. The sales clerk said no that one isn't for the premium items. So I started to pay. Then I asked well is there a coupon that I should have gotten via email that does cover my items? The sales clerk was not helpful either she didn't know or she wasn't suppose to say. So I pulled up another coupon then another and finally found one that worked! Horray. I usually love Ulta. Like LOVE it, but today I had the most traumatic experience of my life when the girl who cut my hair told me she could also wax my eyebrows for me since I brought it up. She then proceeded to give me on eyebrow that was long and skinny ( I usually have my eyebrows thicker, with a nice arch) and the other short and fat with a terrible arch (like a square with a semicircle attached). When I brought up the fact that they looked very uneven she told me that she didn't really see it and thought they looked fine. She didn't charge me for the wax because I was obviously upset but then I had to pay $20 to buy makeup to be able to fix my eyebrows. I then cried for 20 minutes. The end. read more

I have a love-hate experience with this place but find it less pretentious than Sephora. Aside from that it's the closest to me out of both chains. The Perks: They have the widest variety of brands and are always having sales or promotions on even the nicest of those brands. They send out weekly coupons, whether it's 20% off your purchase, a discount on salon services, or $3.50 off $10 ( for example). If you join the (free) rewards club you can earn rewards by gaining points with purchases and you will receive a free full-sized product on your birthday. I've been on the program for two birthdays and have received a Bare Minerals lip gloss and the Midnight Cowboy eyeshadow by Urban Decay. Again these are full sized products (how many places do that?!) usually retailing at $20-25 (factoring in what you would have paid in taxes). The staff are very knowledgeable about said brands/products and are always willing to demo them for you or even offer a free mini makeover. For nearly every skin, make up, or fragrance product there are product testers and clean application tools so you can try them out! They are the only place I want to get my brows waxed at now. The Benefit Brow Bar staff have always been nice, personable and helpful with suggestions. Not only did mine recommend a great product for my brows to look fuller (they do work for commission, after all) but she also solved the reason one was more sparse than the other: it was the side I sleep on every night! It's still pretty pricey, but that depends on the brand. Ulta has a plethora of its own line of products, but I'm not sure on the quality as I have my favorite brands. The coupons help in getting that down a bit. The one and only time i've ever been able to keep my hair curled and beautiful all night was when an Ulta stylist "designed" my hairstyle. This is where the 3 stars comes in: I made an appointment to have my hair cut at the salon. My stylist was a male and we started making small talk as I normally do with stylists. He was asking if I was married. I told him yes and he asked a little about my husband. I let him know that my husband was actually just very ill and in the hospital and the doctors weren't sure what was going on. His response? "I think your husband may have been cheating on you and contracted HIV." He urged me to get myself tested, "just to be safe." I was shocked. I couldn't believe anyone in a service job would ever think that was OK to say to a customer or stranger. Why would that be the first thing your mind even goes to? I was pretty offended but also just so taken aback I wasn't sure what to say or do. I also didn't want to have my hair butchered if I made a scene about it. I paid at the front of the store and then immediately called the manager when I left to let them know in case he was saying stuff like this to anyone else. They offered apologies along with coupons and free samples, but I go elsewhere when I get a cut now. I have not seen the stylist in Ulta since. read more

I took my son for a haircut, our previous stylist disappeared so we took our chances with someone new. What a mistake. Lexie didn't wash his hair, the cut wasn't what he wanted (even though we showed her a picture), then when he asked to have his hair washed she said she didn't have time because "she had fit us in". I checked my booking, we were scheduled for 45 minutes - there was plenty of time. The end result was the back went from long to short with no transition, she had clearly not paid attention to his cowlicks and long spikes in the front (event though he asked for a short spike). Ultimately though, it was clear she didn't want to spend the time on us. We walked back in and Hailey was wonderful and did her best to fix it. read more

To begin, I am makeup and skincare challenged! And that is an understatement....I was hesitant about going into a store like this because I know nothing! Then I met Patrick! He was amazing! I had no clue what a face "primer" was or half of the things he was talking about!! So we waited in line for the free Lipstick from MAC and everyone that walked in knew we were waiting cause they asked. At 10 am they opened the door and said oh we are sorry we aren't participating. They were nice about keeping this information to themselves for the 30 mins! Why would ANYONE stay in line for ULTA for 30 mins! Then promptly told us the the ULTA 1 Hour away is participating! I dropped into Ulta this past Saturday to see if someone could cut my hair and to my surprise Cynthia had an opening. She was very engaging and we talked about our favorite shows on Hulu and Netflix. Plus I love love love my hair! As I went to checkout I decided to stop by the Benefit Brow Bar and have my eyebrows done. Jennifer did an amazing job!! When I walked into Ulta I had mom hair and bushy overgrown eyebrows, when I walked out I had a cute shiny bob with bangs and well manicured eyebrows!! I feel like every time I come here it is progressively worse. Wasn't greeted at all much less acknowledged when I came in today. I looked around to find my bb cream and it wasn't in the same spot it normally was. I looked everywhere. I passed by two employees with headsets on that where too busy reliving their spring break to notice people were in the store and oblivious in need of assistance. I made a purchase at the Lake Line Ulta store location last week. So this morning as I was putting on my make up getting ready for work, I opened the eyeliner box to find it was empty. no way... When you spend $ and no product oh no, and when your purchase was over $300.00 and the cashier was unfriendly and cold.. it makes it Really bad. So on my lunch hour i make a return to this store and Christine is standing at the register so I explained that no product was in the box that I made the purchase last week, she tells me to go get another one. First of all, no apology for the inconvenience (although had to make this trip on my lunch hour and in the rain). Second, TOLD me to go get another one, didn't HELP offer to get me a new one. I returned back to the register to let Christine know there isn't any product left on the shelf, and asked if they had any other in back stock? of course they didn't, so Christine tells me to make another trip back in a few days because they may get a new shipment, I replied, NO ,You can offer to take my name & my number and call me when the product is in store. I just couldn't believe this, what has happened to customer service???? I usually love Ulta and the people who work there. They're always so helpful and nice. However, one person was not and it ruined my experience and how I see this specific Ulta. I went there a month or two ago to buy a morphe palette. I'm just getting into what I consider extreme eyeshadow looks so I needed a bright colored palette. I go in and I buy it and one of the male employees was so condescending and rude to me when I spoke to him. I'm a frequent shopper at Ulta and I've had great customer service in the past. Unfortunately today when I was checking out, I stood at the counter for a few minutes waiting for someone to show up. I saw a credit card receipt laying there for anyone to steal the owner's name. When someone did come, she was shuffling her feet and twirling her long black hair, taking her time to get to me. She never greeted me or look at me. She rang up my items, closed the drawer and turned around and shuffled off like I was a bother. I'm a "get in and get out" girl and I don't need much attention, but I do expect acknowledgment and kindness. No customer should be treated like that. I'm spending good money in your store and I can go elsewhere to get the same products. It makes me think twice about going in there again. read more

I love Ulta but not this location. It's the closest one to where I live so I go there often but they always seem to be out of stock on a lot of the products, especially the higher end makeup side. I like that side because the staff over there is more helpful and nice. The girl who does eyebrows there most of the time is always so sweet and wants to help out. On the other side makeup side with the lesser expensive makeup, I can never find help unless I track someone down. The checkout customer service is pretty good in my opinion. Not worth going to cut your hair for if you want it to look like you've done it yourself, I spent $70 on a haircut that looks like a toddler was in charge of my hair I repeat do not go if you want to have a choppy look to your hair. I also as well told them it was my first time and was guaranteed $35-$45 and my haircut was not even complicated at all I just wanted it to be cut to my collarbone which it is at my collarbone but I didn't ask for these extreme layers that are uneven and VERY noticeable. And also he kinda just did his own thing to my hair he kept offering me different hairstyles and kept telling me "I don't wanna mess up" or "I don't want to get into trouble" like if you cannot do someone's hair please save the time for the both of us and help someone else, now I feel so self conscious about my hair now because it looks so choppy I had a feeling he didn't know what he was doing to my hair. I often shop at ulta with no problem but I recently got a haircut there and it was totally botched. It was not at all the style I wanted and it's not even well done. She didn't really make it clear to me what she was doing and she took a lot of liberties. There are so many issues with it. The layers are choppy and uneven and don't blend. I can't even look at it for longer than a few minutes or I'll start to cry. I'm just going to have to wear a ponytail for at least the next month. read more

So, I come to this Ulta for various things. I bought a Chi here, and I was satisfied. I buy this specific mascara, and I was happy with it. But, I recently scheduled a make-up lesson and hoped I would go out of it learning how and what to use. I went into the lesson excited and ready to learn. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The girl I got was young and seemed uneducated. She had to ask another girl advice on almost everything she used on me. She did my eyebrows for me and didn't teach me how to do them. They were different sizes and lengths. She then applied a bunch of foundation, that wasn't my skin tone. I looked like a ghost. Then, She applied highlighter all over my face to the point where other customers in Ulta were staring at me. I ended up having to pay $40 for something that I hated. She didn't teach me anything other than not to buy the products she used on me. I went into Target right after and everyone stared at me. I am not satisfied with the service, and I doubt that I'll be returning to that Ulta. read more

Bah I wish I could leave a review for the salon separately.. I got three haircuts at Ulta since moving here all by three people. The first haircut was okay, the girl seemed not very happy. The third and fourth haircuts were horrible. This last one was cry worthy. I should have just found another place after the first haircut. This last one, the girl was a level 2 I think they call it. Basically she's not an "entry level" stylist. The entire time she complained about how hard of a day she had because she had to highlight three people's hair. I asked her for a long bob and she gave me a shaggy, dog style hair cut with TONS of uneven layers. Yep, cry worthy. When I had to pay for it.. it was the hardest thing ever because my haircut was so awful. Seriously, I'll never recommend the salon at Ulta. The store though, I don't mind the store itself. The customer service is usually OK and they have pretty good prices. read more

Staff is extremely helpful and pleasant! Someone usually greets me and asks if I need assistance, which is wonderful because most of the time I do need help! Cynthia was my stylist! She was super sweet and extremely polite. She educated me about my hair health and gave me tips on how to take care of it. I love my haircut. I recently got hired at this location. I have worked at a few jobs in my life and have never had a place be so unprofessional and unorganized. I was hired about 3 weeks ago and immediately started my training along with 6 other girls. On my second day The training manager left before I was done with my modules and did not tell the other manager when she wanted me to come in again. So I left with the intention to call the next day to ask. I called the next day and got put on hold by an associate and when the manager picked up immediately hung up on me. I then told myself they were probably busy. I'll call back tomorrow. I called the next day and no one ever picked up. I then called for the next 4 days in a row and never got an answer as to when I needed to come in again. I was never able to talk to a manger during these 6 days. Finally I talked to a manager and she said that The training manager was not in that day and would be back on Monday, 3 days from then. So on Monday I called and got nothing yet again. So I decided that when they wanted me to come in they would call. I did not get a call until 2 days ago. Telling me I was 30 minutes late for a shift that day. And so I tried calling back to explain what happened and yet again got put on hold and then hung up on. I have now taken another job that is actually giving me hours and letting me work and will no longer be working for this location and probably no other ulta location. I also was a very frequent shopper of ulta and after this experience will be taking my business to Sephora and who ever else deserves it more than your business does. read more

I hate to write bad reviews, but this Ulta has some attitude issues. Come on, you have a chance at a do-over with your new location and it is still the same issues. This place is stocked with so many brands, but it is easy to find what you are looking for as long as they have it stocked on the shelf. The attitude of the staff and manager is what I have an issue with. I go in on a Fri before noon and find the DevaCurl shampoo and conditioner, which comes up to $60. I had scoped it out on their website prior, but I really wanted to try this product immediately so I went to the store instead On their website there was a free gift for every $30 purchased of DevaCurl. I took the items plus the item that should have been a free gift with the $60 purchase I was making to the register. The cashier said that the offer must have been an online offer only since the register was charging the $8.95 for the "gift". The Manager comes walking up and confirmed that " it must be an online only offer". My point is why don't you take the time to look it up on your own computers. You would see that it was not just an online offer and that you should have taken the time to make me a satisfied customer. There were no lines of customers waiting at the register, but you are still too lazy to look it up. If you had looked it up and I was wrong about the offer, I would be a satisfied customer. I will find a salon that carries this product for my next purchase. read more
