I have been a Platinum member and loyal Ulta customer for 12 years. After this experience, I will never order from Ulta.com again. I placed a $500+ order online that arrived incomplete. I called to get the missing item sent to me and was transferred 3 to 4 times, put on hold repeatedly, and spent 40 minutes on the phone with absolutely nothing resolved. Representatives could not verify my account despite me providing multiple email addresses, my full name, and my phone number. It felt like a guessing game. Completely unprofessional. Their outsourced call center integration with Narvar is a failure. The agents have no real access to customer accounts and no ability to actually help you. After 12 years of loyalty, not one person could solve a simple shipping issue. The BBB, Google, and Yelp will all be hearing from me. The one star is NOT for my local store, whose staff was warm, welcoming, and everything the online customer service is not. I visited the Ulta Beauty store in Bolingbrook today and was honestly shocked by how messy and overcrowded the store was. The aisles were so packed that it was difficult to walk through them comfortably. Toward the back of the store, there were multiple carts filled with items, which made the store look very disorganized and unprofessional. As a customer, it doesn't create a pleasant shopping experience, especially in a store of this size and reputation. If the store is short-staffed, management should consider hiring additional help. There are many people looking for jobs, and maintaining a clean, organized environment should be a priority. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving the store's appearance and organization. I enjoy shopping at Ulta, but this visit was disappointing. read more

I paid $100 for my makeup to be professionally done and it looked worse than I have ever seen it. It looked terrible and I had to wear it in a job interview. These companies should not expect you to automatically give out emails and other personal information. These multimillion dollar corporations can also donate to charities. I'll donate to the charity of MY choice. Some charities are crooks and those who run them make more than the average CEO. To Emily , I had a black cashier be horrible to me, I didn't blame it on her race. All the makeup artists were also black, if your looking for racism I am certain you can find it. Mamonde- K-Beauty WOW!! I didn't even want to try this skincare because it has such a low price point, I am so glad one of the girls dressed in black convinced me try it. I have tried the foaming oil cleanser and the face mask , the the pore mask, the sleeping mask. I went nuts trying everything since the first time I tried the amazing smelling rose beauty water $23 . I also tried their cushion foundation wth has taken me so long to try cushion foundation. $36 . My skin looks amazing after I tried the foundation, it looks flawless and dewy and best yet it lasted all day. Bad thing is, that Mamonde is not at every Ulta. Oh wait did I mention the eye cream OMG it smooths out my lines and brightens them, give me more , give me more. Mamonde skincare. Oh yeah everyone at Ulta Boilingbrook is very nice and helpful. Employees have the nastiest attitude! As soon as you walk into the establishment you are met with a hostile environment and no greeting. This behavior was mostly from the cashiers! I had a great experience today thanks to Kaitlin! I was in desperate need of help with my makeup for a wedding I have coming up. I don't have/wear makeup at all and Kaitlin was so patient and friendly about helping me, I was very impressed! All covid protocols were followed too, which made me feel very safe. This ends my Ulta shopping spree from the past week. Peace out Mother's Day. This location is quite spacious, and clean and located in an outdoor mall so I can count going here as an outdoor sporting event. The employees at this Ulta are always friendly, complimentary, and helpful AND they have plenty of cashiers. Sometimes it gets really busy here but there's never a long line. One thing I'm not a super fan of is the set up of the store. Though the store is really clean, the jumbled setup (possibly due to the store's door being located on a corner) it just seems kind of low budget. Also, they don't have very good store entrance set ups... it's always looks like the same thing on special every week. Oh and their fragrance section looks junky... like one of those rent a storefront Perfumania things. I wish this one looked more like the Ulta in Naperville on Aurora but kept the same rockin' employees. read more

Normally Ulta is a fun place anyone for who likes cosmetics and perfumes. This was my second time shopping at this location. The first was very average. This second time it was worse. We had one customer service person offer assistance after being in the store for over 40 minutes. She was pushy and assumed a lot. As we checked out the cashier asked if we would like to apply for their beauty card and get 20% off our order. Being our order was over $400 we took her up on it. While waiting she said that we couldn't receive the free gift since it was too early in the day and the other cashiers didn't offer until finally they gave us a cheap $2 item. Mind you I never asked for the free gift it was mentioned to us. She also said here's a free lip set for applying for the credit card and put it in our bag. Well the computer at the store was having issues so there seemed to be an issue with the credit card application. Within one second of her telling us that she snatched the free gift and lip glosses out of our bag. Now let me say this was the worst customer service I ever received and if you notice it takes a lot for me to leave one a one star review. Manager no need to reply! read more

I came in this morning in search of a powder. I was standing in the middle of the isle and a young lady named Lizbeth helped me. She was very kind and offered her expertise, which helped me greatly. My review here is on the salon. I had wanted to get my hair back to my bright platinum (ice) blonde highlights. I was told I could come in at 7 on a Saturday night even after I told the girl on the phone I have a lot of hair, she insisted it would be fine, I went in. The girl I had must have been fresh out of school. It took her about three and a half hours to foil, tone and trim my hair. She was nice enough but I left with hair darker than when I came in. The toner only took to part of my hair as well. I walked out with grayish gold hair. She didn't ask me how I style my hair either. I had layers and it framed my face, she cut one layer, and this is where you can tell she was new. She offered to tone my hair again for free after it was dried. I booked it immediately with her because I had not seen my hair done so bad before. She seemed shocked and she really shouldn't have been. I called two days later to speak with the manager because I paid $200+, and had to tip the stylist before I was done because the store closed before i was even done processing. I didn't leave Ulta until 10:30. The manager offered to have me come in and fix it for free. I greatly appreciated that. The manager is very nice but I still didn't leave with the results I was hoping for. She did the best she could to strip the toner out of my hair and add more highlights. I won't be coming back for more color or cut. The manager was new to this location so I'm sure she will be teaching the stylists more in this location but my hair is damaged and it doesn't look how I want it to for my big birthday coming up. read more

This is a big store format - they probably have what you need. I walked in and got greeted by the manager within 30 seconds on a Wednesday night, she was most helpful. I was looking at their professional nail files which they stocked. I can vouch for their great nail care products, like the brand Flowery. :) read more

Went in on Monday with the idea of spending some serious money to get "the works." Was having a particularly bad day and thought a little retail therapy and makeover might help. So much for that. This is the second time I've been in and basically been ignored the entire time I was there. Associates are always busy with other clients (teenagers) so I guess if you are over 25 they don't have a clue that you are the one with CASH! It will be the LAST time I step foot through the doors. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STOP using Lasership for delivery options. I Never receive my orders when Lasership is delivering. I have a note on my door, specifically for Lasership to ring my bell because they just leave the packages on the porch. I have a lot of foot traffic on a main street. I've lost over $400 through ULTA because they continue to use Lasership even though, you have a lot of complaints regarding them. You will not refund me my money or resend my merchandise. I spoke to a supervisor today 12/7 and she was adamant that you can't issue refunds. This is not fair that I don't have a choice who I would like to deliver my packages. I am horrified with the flat out refusal to take a few minutes to have the back of my hair cut straight. I guess having a regular hair cut blown dry wavy was a mistake. Let me make it clear I did not have a special cut for curly hair, I know that would be totally different. We discussed having my hair blown dry under or wavy. I tried wavy to see how to do it at home. I then bought $75 of product to try at home. I am a teacher so there was no need to blow dry my hair this summer. When I went to blow dry my hair straight the sides looked fabulous but the back was all uneven. It truly looks like one of my second grade students took a pair of scissors to it. So much for looking good at the wedding. When I called the store I was told I would have to pay full price for another cut. I was told I should have come back within a week for then to fix their error. I am shocked that they would not even take a few minutes to fix the problem, it is not like I want a whole new haircut. I guess I have learned a lesson, hopefully this will help you from making the same one. read more

Went into Bolingbrook store location looking for Purelogy hair product stating they had it in the store online. But to no avail they did not. So I ordered the product on line. Will not go in store if people are not addressed "welcome to ulta". Sales associate are abundant but they stand around talking to each other. I actually was impressed with this store, Parking rt at the door( for electric cars they have a freaking charging doc like rt there 1st parking spot for u) I'm not fancy so I parked like the commoners... Anyways that's just the parking lot... The store: upon entry welcomed and asked if there was something they could help me with... So great customer service,---which was cool but rtwhen you walk in it smells the a perfume store like the entire store....( other Ulta's is u go to the perfum area it's concentrated there in that little spot) So I liked it cuz it smelled really GOOD! That stood out the assistance to help me get what I came for and then the next best thing is they sel 'The ordinary' products! These items I thought I could only get at Sephora ... I felt like this Ulta really was impressive. Oh they have a seating / waiting area in the back too for when you go back for services that was different, And the best part to me...was that spacial-ly idk if that's a word but bottom line the lanes are SPACIOUS! Like it's comfortable where your not scared to move & knock things down behind you. -- I say this because if you have their little grey bag it knocks into what around you. This has been the best Ulta I've been to in the burbs. read more

Broken hearted am I as I write this review. My make up game is sick y'all. I've got it all. Primer for days. Eyeshadow for weeks. My tiered nail polish holder would rival any you'd see at any nail salon. Brushes like what?! It's so real that my husband converted one of our closets into a vanity/makeup room for me. So I find myself at this Ulta on Saturday. I was going to buy the Urban Decay Naked 1, 2, & 3 palettes. Yup, was about to drop that serious coin, ladies! I found the display, at which my palettes were at the very bottom, and started looking at each. Not testing them, that's gross, thousands of people have touched them obviously cause they were in awful shape. So I'm looking, looking... Meanwhile 4 associates are 4 feet from me just gabbing away. Not a one could be bothered with a "are you finding everything ok? Let me show you a look!" ect. Ok, that's sad. But the worst part is that even my husband noticed, and he was none too happy. I needed to purchase them at another store, because that wasn't cool. I'd really hoped for a better experience here. But I recommend you take your money elsewhere. read more

I had a very strange kind of experience today at ulta. I have had my previous haircuts from hairstylist sasha which were pleasant and i was satisfied but this time when she did my haircut i felt she was distracted the entire time. Talking and chatting with other stylist(which is not wrong as long as you are focussing on me too) and she gave a horrible blow dry and my hair looked horribleee. I admit i don't have the silkiest hair but come on. I expect to get a good blow dry after a cut for which i pay 52$ excluding tip.When i looked at my hair after the cut i could not say i don't like it because it would have been really awkward so i just smiled n got up. My husband never comments on my hair but even he didn't like it. I am disappointed so i wont be getting any future haircuts from her. read more

I went to get my haircut yesterday.. what an awful experience. The stylist (Stephanie) washed my hair and then proceeded to leave me in the chair for about 5 to 6 minutes while she answere some other clients questions. Instead blow drying my hair at the end she put curlers in my hair and put me under the dryer so that she could take another client. My hair is usually smooth and silky after haircutts but it was just raelly rough and filled with unnecessary amounts of gunky procduct. I couldnt even run my fingers through my hair. It looked so bad that I asked if I could use a brush and then I sat there and combed my own hair out. The hair cut cost $ 40.00 and it should have cost 10.00 . I don't wear makeup, but I'm starting to feel self conscious about the dark circles under my eyes. So I went to Ulta for under eye concealer. I met Monica who was able to find the perfect product for my needs. She color matched me perfectly and even showed me how to apply the product. Monica made the experience super easy and comfortable. I have been a big fan of this company for many years, and I have been coming to this location for quite a while as well. The location is prime and the store is quite large, so the convenience can't be beat. The range of beauty products is very expansive, from the cheapest of nail polish removers to the most expensive flat-irons. Almost everything I use has come from this location specifically. They have a decent selection of perfumes, lots of nail polishes to pick from, and a few of the fancier makeup brands like Lancome. The assortment of hair products is also quite large, but tends to be on the higher end side. There is also a salon here, but I do not recommend it. I have had a haircut here because I had a coupon for a free one, but it is way too pricey to come here regularly. Also, the salon area takes up a huge amount of space and there is rarely anyone using. Plus, who wants to get their hair done and have everybody watching. Sales are usually pretty good and several times a year I get coupons in the mail for 20 or 30 percent off everything. Reward program is a plus as well. Kudos. read more

I SERIOUSLY wish I had gotten the name of the girl in the Lancome makeup section that helped me. I went in about a week and a half ago bc I was interested in checking out the dermablend makeup. I had recently had surgery on my face and had some ugly eye bruising I needed to cover up. The girl who I think usually stays in the Lancome department came over to help me. I explained my situation and warned her that the area around where I had gotten surgery was still super dry so I wasnt sure how good the stuff was going to look. The minute I sat in the Lancome area chair and before she began to try the dermablend concealer on me she said, "I have a feeling this is going to come out super cakey on you so Im also going to try the Lancome concealer on you as well bc thats probably going to be alot better." Chick knows her stuff. Sure thing she put the dermablend on me and it looked absolutely awful. Covers up the bruising but made my skin just look even more dry and gross. I would have been better off going makeup free with my ugly bruises showing. She took it off and put the Lancome on and I couldnt believe how good it looked. Everything looked super smooth and you couldnt even tell I had bruising. The price of the products were both spot on so it wasnt as if she was just trying to upsell. I ended up buying a Lancome powder too I loved it so much. Someone at work actually commented on how smooth the concealer was. Thanks for the new product chick at Lancome counter! read more

So, I ruined my hair. I tried to go red, and failed miserably. I looked horrible. The dye I used kept washing out whenever I bathed. It looked like a murder scene was washing out of my hair. Also...I'd fried the ends, badly. Like people who get hit by lightning probably had better looking, less damaged hair than me. There, are you getting an image? Not pretty right? So now that you know how bad I screwed up my hair...I'll begin my review. this is what I came to the salon with. My goal? Get it as healthy looking as possible and get my locks back to blonde. So Kate began working. She started with cutting off the ends, since I was going for a shorter look anyway. Made sense, saves on product. Then we put the lightener in. And fun trick, splenda makes it not burn! So I sat for a long time, rambling up a storm (typical for me, I'll chat your ear off. it's part of my charm.) Off for a shampoo and some toner. We left the toner on for maybe 20 minutes or so. Whatever they use for shampoo, smells amazing. And then it was time to finish cutting it, blow dry and style it. I came in, looking like a not so hot mess. I left, looking and feeling just gorgeous. I still can't believe she got all the red out, save for a couple super small, stubborn spots near my roots (where the dye took.) Now, my recommendation is to see Kate before you do something crazy with your hair and ruin it like I did. BUT. If you have already done something foolish, put down that dye bottle before you make it worse and get yourself an appointment with Kate, let her work her magic on you. Sorry Batman, but I think I have a new hero. Super Kate, at Ulta. And although I plan to keep going for trims, etc, let's hope my hair never needs saving again. read more

I never never never write reviews, but my experience was so awful,....everyone seemed really nice, I've been in this location before and had a pleasant experience. I went in this day looking for a shampoo for my husband for scalp issues. I asked one of the hair area employees for help... not only was she rude, she was on her phone, completely unaware of what I was asking. I asked her again if she worked there, SHE WAS THE SALON MANAGEr. I just can't understand how and why someone working on customer service can't seem to be good and understanding of customer service. She followed me around the store giving me mean looks. She literately followed me from the bare minerals section/front of the store, to the back. The whole time looking at me with suspicious eyes, following closely. "All this happened after I told her I was looking and did not need her help". I will never go to this location Ever! FYI I norm spend 1000 per year on makeup but this evening I went in with a bare face with the M.O of trying the naked foundation by urban decay. I have never been treated so badly in a retail environment I cried for hours when I went home. The "manager" Jessica is one of a kind to be sure! She has an entitled attitude and has no Business working in the customer service Industry. And her makeup looked like a caked on mess... I give this location zero stars! I would go to any other location but this one. The staff here is not trained well. And no one at this location could call them self a true master makeup artist.
