I actually went in on a Sunday morning and was looking for some things, knowing I may not get the selection I want from a store based in a mall. It's easy to spot and up front. I walked in and the store inside was quite large. There were all sorts of brands and items there, it was larger than expected. I was looking for a new product (new to me) and I asked the person there and she was very helpful in my consultation. I actually came out with everything I was looking for, and received the help I needed. It was much better than going to a mall store. On a Saturday afternoon is when I decided to visit Sephora in Aurora. Desiree was a friendly associate who assisted us during our visit. A 15 minute makeover lasted a tad bit over 15 because, someone, me, had questions and Desiree was patient and knowledge about everything I was eager to learn. To begin the makeover, first your asked to remove any make-up your currently wearing, then a camera is used, its about the size of an electronic toothbrush and is held to the face to give the associate a suggestion for what skin tone the clint has. At one point during our visit another associate had walked over to Desiree and had mentioned something that I overheard that went along the lines of " we need to share". Not sure if that associate was referring to the camera but that associate shouldn't have confronted Desiree on the sales floor. Desiree however kept her cool. Desiree did a great makeover and did a great job in product recommendation. I highly recommend you ask for her when your there. Would shop there again. read more

I never seem to have any problems with sephora, they are friendly to me, treat me well, and sometimes gives me make up tips! I also love the free samples you get!! They are a little pricey but that's because they sell the top brands in the make up industry! Lol so yes I love sephora, even the one inside JCPenny!! Julie did a great job assisting me with finding the perfect make up for my mother's birthday! She was extremely helpful and provided great tips! She even introduced me to some new Fenty products and provided samples! She swatched foundation on me and helped me make the right choice! HOT mess. I walked in and it was waaay crowded (not Sephora's fault). Sooo many testers from Anastasia's liquid lipsticks were gone. I'm not kidding when I say that half of them were just not there. The make up counter was the serious ick factor. There were testers and used facial tissues/disposable mascara wands and lip thingyys. Nothin. Was labeled and really left me zero comfort to approach the mirror to test out the products. Most importantly, I was in there for well over an hour and was NOT approached. Again; it was busy but I also saw several employees talking with each other/overhearing work gossip instead of assisting people. They need a stand alone store in the fox valley mall! read more

Although I'm not a big fan of Sephora inside JCPenney, this one I can recommend. I usually leave feeling like I got at least 65% of the Sephora experience, minus the snooty associates and the redonkulous crowds. The "cast"(that's what they call the sales associates at Sephora) at this location are friendly but not intrusive. They always let me shop but magically appear when I have a question. And somehow they always know all these interesting facts. Like when I asked about Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana. It's a sort of new scent, so I told them the name and described the bottle. The associate offered me a sample to take home and try. As she was filling the sample, she told me all about how the bow on the bottle was inspired but the first D&G fashion show where all the models wore black bow ties. Way to share interesting tidbits and share product knowledge! My only complaint here(besides it not being a full Sephora) is the area by the register. The area where they stock the trial size items is one of my favorite spots. Gotta try these high end items before I shell out that serious cash money. Today that area was super picked thru and most of the time the items price and description sticker was missing. And yet.....I still managed to find an Urban Decay prep spray AND an Ole Henriksen 3 Little Wonders kit. Still like this location! My Daughter and I went to Sephora is Aurora and Summer was the associate who took her time in finding the right base. She talked with me about the make up. I had not worn makeup in years. Since I had something removed from my face, it left a scare. Summer was thoughtful and professional. I will go back for additional make up if Summer is there. Loved my experience there. I am a makeup-aholic. I go everywhere for high-end makeup, from other Sephora locations to Nordstrom to Neiman Marcus, etc. However, THIS particular Sephora is the FILTHIEST, most DISGUSTING location that I have EVER been to!!!!!! All of the testers are dried out, the product organization is atrocious, and the store itself looks like it has never been cleaned. In addition, the staff is extremely unwilling to assist any customers. Someone needs to run this place better, because clearly it is not being managed correctly/effectively. read more

I have worn MAC for the last 10 years and was looking for a change and wanted to see what Sephora had to offer. I went in on a Friday about 3:30 for this "free 15 make over". I had to flag down a employee and she took me to the chair and explained that she will do one eye and I will do the other. Ok fine... she basically didnt do anything different than I already do myself, which was kinda the point of going. I wanted a new look but thats fine. So there are two stations for these make overs, one on each side of a mirror. The girl on the others side had someone also so when a line started to form at the register she told my girl to go ring. Fine... she told me to work on my other eye and she would be back. I did my eye, sat there for about 20 minutes, looked at the line and there was still about 15 people in line. The girl on the other side of the mirror decide to take another make over that just walked in while I still sat there for over 20 minutes now. I was livid! I got up and asked her if they were the only two employees in the store? She answered yes. I replied " Soooo I am just supposed to sit here for 30 minutes while she rings out 20 people and you continue to take walkins?" She said "oh i will tell her" I told her not to bother and left. It didnt seem like these girls had any cosmetology training regardless so Im kinda glad she left me sitting there for 20 plus minutes so I didnt feel obligated to buy anything. This location is always disappointing. Either the workers won't stop following you around and asking if you need help or when you need help there's five of them helping one person and no one's around to help you. Also Sephora's website always says they have items in stock but then you get there and they don't have anything you are looking for. read more

I use to only shop at the actual Sephora stores until this location opened up. This is the Sephora I "frequent" the most...like 95% of the time and I love me some Sephora. I have grown to just adore the lovely ladies that work here and they even know my name, that is how personable they are. Alison is my go to lady for anything I need. She knows me so well that all I have to do is tell her what I am looking for and what she picks out is on point. I like this location because all the staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the products they carry. read more

My daughter and I were in this location just needing a concealer match help I was told to wait since they were busy which I understood. Once the lady was free an older lady walked up to her after we had been waiting for 10-15 minutes for help and she proceeded to help her and told me to wait again. The older lady had just walked in and got waited on and my daughter and I had been waiting for quite some time already I thought this was very unprofessional and doubt we will be back in to this location! The girls name was bunny that gave horrible customer service. I am in the customer service industry and they should make sure to take care of customers as they ask for help in the order that they asked for it!! I think we will be taking our business to ulta across the street they always seem to have plenty of employees on hand to assist their customers!! read more

I like this store and the ladies that work here are all very nice. I have been in here twice now and there has been a line both times and only one cashier, although two people there. I was there earlier and Diedra (very pleasant) standing there filling samples while three of us standing in line for quite a while with customer ahead of us forgetting her cash, asking for samples, etc.. My suggestion- open another register. Some of us need to run in and out quickly and no reason for us to stand there for a while when someone is filling samples. I will re-review and give it 4-5 stars once this changes. read more

I told them nobody came to help me, as the girl who said would come walked past me, said they would send someone else. I come to Sephora all the the time to get my makeup all the time .. I love the makeup I love the environment but I really don't like the costumer service is pretty rude I went there once and I was looking for a specific lipstick I ask all the employees and they just basically told me is somewhere around and I just ignored it .. Then I been there for a while so I couldn't find it so I left and one of the employees followed me and my friends all the way out the door until we already left JCPenny and she ask if I needed something and I was like no I was a bit confused and she ask if I have a lipstick and I said no and she ask are u sure u didn't stole a lipstick and I said I didn't again so she was basically accusing me of stealing .. I felt really disrespected with her attitude .. I don't know what what her problem but that was so un called for .. I am sorry Sephora I really love ur make up but your employees are just something else read more
