Woof. I'm not someone who typically writes reviews, but I cannot overstate how awful my experience at this salon was. I booked a basic haircut with no add-ons with a stylist I had never seen before. She was friendly and personable, and I had no reason to be concerned during the appointment. However, when I went to pay, I was shocked to see that she had added both a blowout and hair straightening to my bill -- services I did not request and was never asked to approve. What should have been a $43 haircut turned into a $102 charge. I was in a rush, so I paid and left, but the next morning I called the store because adding $60 in services without consent felt incredibly shady. To their credit, the store did refund me for those services. Unfortunately, the haircut itself turned out to be even worse. At first glance, it seemed okay. I had asked for face-framing layers and curtain bangs. The bangs looked fine, though I noticed the face framing was minimal. Once I washed and styled my hair myself, the extent of the damage became clear. The lower half of my hair had been aggressively thinned and unevenly sheared, leaving it stringy, choppy, and lifeless. I lost a significant amount of density and body -- hair that took years to grow. I went to a stylist I trust to try to fix the cut, but there was only so much she could do. The short, uneven layers will take months to grow out, and the fullness that was removed cannot be restored. Between the unauthorized charges and a haircut that will take months to recover from, this was genuinely one of the worst salon experiences I've ever had. 4/5 stars only because it frustrates me having to wait for service while the one and only person working the registers has to stop and help the person walking in to pick up their online order. Really? Shouldn't there be a person assigned to that task? I came in on this particular evening to purchase a few items before heading out of town and also for Christmas gifting. There are so many choices for gift giving in the store. Since when are the purse sized spray fragrances in a locked up cabinet? Ugh, now you have to go and find a person with a key to open it up and wait while you decide what you want. I couldn't catch this persons name. But this tall, blonde hair with a blue streak, bigger set woman started following us as soon as we entered the store, as if she was keeping an eye on us like we were going to steal. Then she asked us if she could help us with anything. My sister-in-law then asked about a certain perfume in the travel size at which point her response was "that perfume costs $180. Do you even have money to buy anything?" Both myself, and my sister-in-law were taken by surprise with this response. This was the most disrespectful comment we have ever received by any store employee. And that immediately made us leave the store. This was clearly a discriminatory comment made to us solely based on the way we dressed ourselves today. For your information lady, we were dressed for comfort since we had been out all day. And if the employee is reading this comment we did in fact have the money to buy anything in that store. -10/10. Will not be coming back to this location ever. Train your employees better to treat everyone with the same level of respect and decency that they want people to treat them and not have prejudicial eyes. read more

I have used many products (tarte shape tape, it concealer, mac various products) all for under eye concealer. I thought I knew it all... but if I knew it all, why is my concealer creasing. I went to Dri at Ulta Clovis... she did not disappoint. She recommended Natasha Denona Hy Glam concealer. I'm 37, dry skin, eczema, under eyes are bagged and dark. Let me tell you... I wish I had pics with It, so you can see the difference. But because my eyes always looked black, creased, and ugly after 5 min, I hated taking pics. Well, I took a pic. Not the most flattering. But l after 12 hours of Natasha concealer and MAC studio radiance serum powdered foundation. Dri you did the damn thang!!!! read more

I ordered online hoping to use curbside pickup. When I arrived, the only two curbside stall were taken. I initially thought they were busy and there was a wait, so I found parking elsewhere. When I walked by the stall, there was no one in their cars! Ppl are just taking those stalls to park like regular parking spots! Ulta needs to either make more curbside pickup stalls or regulate that area. It is such an inconvenience for the customers who really are doing curbside. Why don't you guys just get rid of the curbside service if ppl are going to abuse it. Why punish other customers and ruin their experience. I went into ulta looking for something very specific. I asked the employee Shelby and another associate both went around the whole store looking for what i needed. I went in thinking I knew what I wanted. But was struggling with finding my shade in foundation. Jackie from Clinique helped me find the perfect shade and also helped me find the perfect products for my oily skin. As I looked around Junior from Chanel helped me locate some small nail clippers for my baby girl. And Shelby with awesome blue hair helped me check out and it was just the best. This is the location nearest to my home so as convenience I come here, the last 3 visits have been super unpleasant, having workers stalking me through the aisles and asking me if I need help more than once. As I was trying an eyeliner sample test the young girl with long braids rushes over to me saying "can I help you omg did you clean the eyeliner" proceeded to "educate me on why and how and if I don't know ask for help before I try testers" I felt it was a bit over the top scolding me and she wasn't looking for a response if I had questions. I am not good with makeup and hate asking for help so this was a huge relief to have this offer. She asked questions to get to know exactly what I was going for, then took her time helping me. I really want to leave 0 stars I was in the Clovis Ulta for a good 15-20 minutes. They have a lot of workers that talk to each other but apparently Ulta doesn't provide personalized customer service. Great location but after being here twice now the service is so horrible. So many workers just gather and chat and give dirty looks if your not looking put together. The lady at the front when you walk in said you get $10 off when you spend over $50 today. I just happened to spend over $50 since everything is so pricey in there but when purchasing I mentioned the deal and she said you have to check your email. So I asked her if she could help me as to when it was send etc.. And she starred at me and said do you want a receipt. So I asked again and she said you will have to figure that out. I did a delivery shop for a customer in the Clovis location, and had to spend about an hour searching for items. The minute I walked in I was OVERWHELMED with an array of mixed perfume smells. I don't mean good smells either. It was stifling and I couldn't wait to be out of there. Upon exiting the store, I realized that the smell had permeated my hair, skin and clothing to the point of having to go home and shower, shove my clothes in the bottom of the hamper, and brush my teeth twice since I couldn't get the taste of perfume out of my mouth. My eyes were on fire, my nose was burning and I could hardly swallow. I'll never step foot in that store ever again, and seriously I don't even think I would order for pick up or delivery. Why is every employee at every Ulta so rude and unprofessional!?! I came in today to this particular location to get myself a new foundation and had no help. Every employee I turned to avoided making eye contact with me to avoid helping me. When I went up to pay, I was the only one in line yet there were 5, yes, I said 5 ladies in the front just chit-chatting away! They even saw me standing and waiting! Besides being unwelcoming and unprofessional, there is a huge lack of productivity. I couldn't find the blush I wanted, so I stopped in here to check for it. I was wandering around when Jose approached me and offered help. I explained what I was looking for and Jose explained why I couldn't find it. Jose offered a substitute and then explained how to use it. From then on Jose patiently listened, answered my questions, and offered me options/opinions. Even though the store was busy, Jose never made me feel like I was taking too much time. Went to the salon to ask for a balayage to blend in with my natural hair color (level 7 dark blonde) came out with BLACK roots and blonde hair that was so unevenly toned. I had grey patches, purple patches even green spotting all through out my hair. Everytime I'm in Ulta browsing and I hear a girl go up and ask for a consultation I want to scream "DONT DO IT!" Before Ulta I had long luscious hair walked out with FRIED hair. Never will I let Ulta take my identity. Their "solution" was to have their manager bleach my hair AGAIN!? NEVER AGAIN ULTA. One word.......RAY! She works for MAC and let me say she made me believe in MAC again. She not only took the time to teach me how to use products for my face shape, skin type and what highlights my natural features but most importantly she was so patient with me. She let me decide what I needed and never made me feel pressured to buy. Which in the end I bought everything(happily). Honestly if you need someone who is fantastic at what they do but alsmakes you feel like a friend she is the best. I've had not positive experiences in the past with Ulta but she has made me have faith that it takes one great person. I will always and ONLY go back to Ray. read more

I love this place! However, it can be very dangerous trying to not over spend. If you're a frequent flyer I would highly recommend the joining the rewards program. I usually get my hair cut by Amanda, but she left so I tried a new stylist. My hair is my favorite thing about me- I'm 5'8 and my hair reached my butt. When I sat down the stylist across from me complimented my length, and I thanked her and said I was hesitant for this cut but needed a trim. My stylist came, and I explained I'd like three inches taken off, a steep v-cut, and layers. I also told her Id like to save AS MUCH length as possible. She said no problem, and that three inches would get all the dead hair off cleanly. That is not what I received. When I saw the results I instantly was shocked as to how short it was. I was so upset that I just thanked her and left. After I came home, I looked in the mirror and measured my hair to find SIX INCHES was taken off my hair. I was distraught. I called the salon back stating how unsatisfied I was, and the manager assigned me a different elite stylist, Lauren, for later that evening to fix my hair. I was extremely grateful for Lauren's work, as she added much more flattering layers and salvaged the look. I was still pretty upset about my length though.
