This being the Ulta closest to me, that's where I usually stop in. i've never had any problem with the service. it's true that they are likely out of something that you want, but that is just because they are a popular store and we all want the popular products. This Ulta has TERRIBLE customer service. I've been in this Ulta store four times and not once was I greeted or asked if I needed help finding a product. I have used the salon services at this Ulta since last year. The stylist that I have been with since last year quit just a day before my appointment, and instead of re-scheduling me or notifying me, they crammed me between two appointments for another stylist. It took four and a half hours from the time I checked in to the time I left to get a single-process colour and trim, which caused me to be late at another location for an appointment I had scheduled. The stylist cutting my hair not only did a 'touch up' of a darker colour on my roots without doing the ends (resulting in having to endure a second treatment - and waiting even longer), but she also gave the girl who I was 'sharing' appointment time with a free hair cut and colour because it was her birthday. Well, that's nice and all - mine was three days prior, and I had been waiting for two and a half hours before my colour was even applied. I don't expect anything for free, but to just give a free cut and colour to someone while neglecting your other customer is unprofessional. Then, upon leaving, the stylist tells me she's /only/ charging me for my prior stylist's costs, but 'next time' I'll have to pay /her/ rates, which were $75 for the same thing. I was so frustrated at one point (after the colour mishap), that I felt like I wanted to just cry and ask her to wash my hair and let me pay and leave. Sitting in that salon chair for all that time was miserable. I will not be returning to this Ulta for salon purposes, which is disappointing, because the quality of the colour I had been getting since last year was fantastic. The products at this Ulta are very good, and their return policy is excellent. The staff have always been helpful, and I regret this situation at the salon, as it will probably cause me to avoid spending money here. I will still return to buy make-up essentials if I must, but I will be using the Ulta website from now on. read more

I've had so many issues with matching my foundations and concealers to my skin tone. I'm Greek, so in the summer I get super tan and in the winter, I turn an olive-ish color. Because my skin tone varies, buying foundation and concealer is a nightmare for me. Renia helped me find exactly what I was looking for! She didn't just try to sell me the most expensive thing she could find - she gave me plenty of options in price and brand. She was really nice and patient with me! I have been to many Ultras is all over the country this one is by far the least concerned about customer service I have spent almost 30 minutes calling being put on hold no live person at one time answer the phone when I called the salon hair salon to try and get anyone else in the store to answer the phone so I can make an appointment with benefit brow bar so to just walk in without an appointment to the brow bar they always encourage appointments but you can't make an appointment because they will not answer the phone in fact the last call that I made someone answered the phone and then hung up on me I left. I can't get through it all this is no way to run a business why do you put up with this type of treatment when you can just go to Sephora. PS I was a valued customer they're spending hundreds of dollars on each visit to the store and I dictated this so forgive the lack of punctuation. read more

This location has the worst customer service- I literally drive out of my way by 20 minutes if I can help it if I need something from Ulta- otherwise I just order online now. If it wasn't for the platinum program and all the offers and deals I would never even shop at Ulta but I guess you get what you pay for! i didn't like how i was not asked if i needed help. it was like where ever i was the employees went to the other side of the store so they wouldn't have to help. i spent an hour around the same isles trying to figure out what product was the better option and hoping id see an ulta employee since the sign said they can match you with your shade. after checkout i noticed a kit with everything i needed which would have saved me around $40 and i would have most likely spent it on more things. but again no one was around to point me in the direction i needed to be. on the scale of how likely i would recommend this ulta to a friend i rated it a 5 because it did have a large selection of products, if it wasnt because of that, i would have rated it a 0 because of the lack of customer service. read more

I ordered mac items from them. I never got the items. they say it was delivered? to who? not me! when I sent a message about it I got a message back saying ask ups/post office. using the tracking # neither compay had any record of the order? sent another message again same message sent back about asking ups/post office? either they did not read my message about ups/post office having no record. so lesson learned do not order anything from this company. I'm now out of $106.00 dollars. they will not help me with arefund or anything. I will not long shop there. read more

The products and selection are fine, but the customer service here was really lacking. No one approached me to see if I needed any help with anything, and I was in there for a while. I walked right past multiple employees and not one stopped to greet me or acknowledge me. When I did ask an employee a question, she seemed annoyed and bothered. The cashier when I checked out was kind of testy with me when I didn't want to sign up for a rewards card. I don't think I'll stop in here again. I'd rather go to Sephora in the mall and possibly pay a little more than deal with the poor customer service here. I'm not sure what is making all the employees rude and disgruntled, but the management ought to look into it. read more

Well,Ulta is my favorite destination as for as the products go I love their bath products and cosmetic stuff.I always prefer walking in to the nearest ulta store rather than hitting mall for Sephora or MAC.That being said,why not give it a five star??Honestly I never thought I could be disappointed with the store but I cannot help let the customers know about their salon services.So I walk in their one wednesday with an appointment for free nioxin volumizing treatment (which is one of their promotion for the week)only to know that the person their had no idea whatsoever about the treatment and there is no other person to help me to the appointment.I had no clue what to do since I didn't expect the professional salon to have personals who are totally unfamiliar with their promotions and stuff. I was apologized politely for the inconvenience saying that they were undergoing some "changes" which might have caused the confusion and was requested to reschedule it for the next week (friday 5.00pm to be exact) which I did with major adjustments in my calendar ,but here comes the catch-I gave a call to them on the day of my scheduled appointment only to learn that there was no appointment on my name and when I tried to explain what happened and requested to check my previous appointment, the person on the phone wasn't even bothered to listen which I felt was quite uncordial and didn't even care to ask me for rescheduling or compensating when I told that day would be the only best convenient time since I will be leaving the town the next day.I was totally taken aback and baffled for their lack of response for their actions.I could have opted the treatment for full price but only thing that stopped me from doing so is the unprofessional treatment towards their regular clients.My point is why give an appointment if they are incapable of fulfilling it??and why deny the scheduled appointment which was embarrassingly impolite for such a superstore?? I would have preferred the truth than denial.I was never inclined to write up a negative review on Ulta until now.But as far as my experience goes The customer Service is a big let down at least for the salon.I would never walk into this location again. read more

Made an appointment two weeks previous for a cut and color. Arrived at my scheduled appointment and was asked to come back in 40 minutes because the stylist was behind. Very understandable since the store was packed and it was Saturday. I walked around and shopped at some nearby stores. When I returned, I was told that the stylist was still working on a previous client, she would be with me in moments and to have a seat. A seat in an Ulta store? There are no seats and I wasn't directed to where they might be hidden so I walked around the store and I walked around the store and I walked around the store. After looking at the hair products, the makeup and dousing myself with sample perfumes, another 45 minutes had passed. Saturday afternoon shot, no new cut and color. Chalk it up to another Ulta experience I should not be surprised about. Ulta's coupons...need I say more. Read the fine print and there is plenty. Try, just try and use a coupon with anything else, you know, like points or a gift card or a free sample. You'll have to come back another day and do you really want to? Ulta's online experience. You will receive no confirmation of your purchase, no tracking number, no promised samples and you will wait an eternity for said purchase to arrive at your door long after you have forgotten you ordered it in the first place. If you plan to buy anything online as a gift for say the holidays, order in July, you might have better luck. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I gave this place so many chances. When it comes to doing hair they are terrible! They never got the color I wanted they're completely inexperienced I wouldn't recommend this place. I tried the cottage salon and they did perfect for only like 20 more dollars! Horrible organization and customer service in the salon in the Durham location. I've been going for skin and it was a great find, originally. The "skin specialist" seemed knowledgeable and I considered her somewhat of a decent professional. Absolutely not the case. Over the past 7 months I've had the manager reschedule an appointment 3 times after booking online and then this past week, the manager of the salon cancelled a skin appointment 2 hours before (Thursday morning) and then 2.5 hours before that Sunday, when I rescheduled. Obviously, it is not the end of the world as my skin will be okay but the blatant disregard for others is disappointing. I've been to endless appointments over the years but never had such last minute cancellations, if any ever. I realize people cancel on them too but accountability is a two-way street and Ulta can start setting better standards. I do not not get my hair done there and going to a different location for skin. Education will go a long way for some of these ladies. read more

It's really frustrating when employees make you feel stupid for asking questions, and that's what happened to me the other day. I like to change my makeup routine up, since I'm not super loyal to any one brand of makeup, and when I asked an employee for comparable brands to the one I brought in they were very short with me and seemed like they had something better to do. I felt like I was annoying him for asking for suggestions, so I just said never mind I'll just keep looking and found something on my own. When I went to checkout the clerk seemed pretty annoyed as well. Not with me or anything in particular, she just seemed bothered. It was weird and uncomfortable and I really have no desire to go back. It's a shame, because I love the quality of the store and the products offered, but the customer service was pretty offensive, and as a business owner myself, customer service is extremely important, which is why I felt I needed to write a review. read more

my daughter with hair down to her waist went in today and asked for 1 inch off and layers around her face with jasmine. she was facing away from mirror entire time. when she turned her around her hair is above her bra strap, she left salon crying and extremely upset. the salon did nothing and said since she didn't pay (she walked out hysterical) nothing they can do. jasmine apologized for chopping her hair. terrible experience. someone needs to take scissors from this girl, who cuts 6 inches when told one inch. management is terrible. never ever again!! read more

I love ULTA in general, but this particular location leaves a lot to be desired. They never seem to have enough staff working; I've walked around the store several times with questions only to find the only two people working are at the register. Not sure how this makes sense. And as a previous poster said, the employees don't seem well-versed in their products. I requested assistance with being matched for Bare Minerals and it seemed like the girl didn't even know where to start, which was after she acted like it was a huge bother I was even asking for help. She then plopped the makeup on my face, unlike anything I would do at home when applying the makeup myself. Not to mention that the color was way too light. Before that, she squirted something on my hand (without telling me what it was) and told me to put it on my face. When I asked what it was, she told me it was the Prime Time primer; I then proceeded to tell her that I could not use it because it would break my face out. She wanted to argue with me that if I could use other products in the line, then I could use the primer. NOT TRUE. The foundation contains about 5 ingredients, none of which are silicone or other ingredients that irritate my face. I found this highly unprofessional. Also, every single time I go to check out, they never ask if I want to use any point dollars off of my purchase or even tell me that I have some to use; I always have to ask if I have points and then tell them I want to use them. I don't understand this. Lastly, if I'm dissatisfied with something and I return it, it seems like I always get asked a million questions about why I'm returning it. If you have a return policy, just process my return. I go to Sephora or the Bare Minerals boutique when I can in order to avoid this place. read more
