First time checking out this location. They greet you as you enter, which is always a good thing. What I like about this location is they don't constantly swarm you asking if you need assistance, every 5 minutes. However, they need to appear to be more approachable. I was looking for certain brand, because their layout is different. There were 3 ULTA employees all engaged in a convo amongs them selves. This another one was on her phone but managed to help me. However their stations to test products are poorly stocked and dirty. If your gonna allow testing of products, have tissues, sprays and applicators in stock. A lot of the make up with testers are damaged and dirty. Someone should check it out and get rid of the damaged products. read more

It has been a few months since, but I randomly decided to try and give Ulta a shot when it came to getting my hair done.. not only was the pricing the most outrageous I have ever paid for and honestly ever heard of.. but the color showed absolutely no difference! No one noticed any sort of difference! I felt as if she took her time as well because I was being charged hourly.. I sat for over 5 hours! I didn't even get a cut that day! Only thing I did was attempt to lighten my hair... long story short I left there feeling completely incompetent, taken advantage of, in literal tears, and stunned! And I was 100% taken advantage of by this person! Never again, even if it was just the woman's fault... maybe they should take into consideration who they hire. This was sickening! Picture this, it's your brother's wedding day and your makeup lady (in another salon) has called in sick to work and cancelled your appointment the day of! You're freaking out with 3 hours until pictures and after calling multiple locations around the area, you come across this location. The receptionist is very friendly and understanding of my freak out. She explains she could fit both me and my fellow bridesmaid back to back. You're ecstatic and you immediately book the appointment. With my hair appointment running late, I became late for my makeup appointment. The salon manager, Marty is nice and flexible enough she can find someone else to help do my make up. The professionalism, customer service, and flexibility of the salon at Ulta is what makes this the best Ulta location I've been to! My makeup artists were Ms. Patty and Leah. Ms. Patty was so gentle and careful with my makeup. She understood what I had in mind and helped me create that. Leah was amazing at doing my eyeliner and eyelashes. I got compliments on my makeup all night! But most importantly they both made me feel so beautiful in my own skin!! I would recommend their makeup skills to any friend or family member of mine. Overall, if you have to get any makeup done please ask for Ms. Patty and Leah! I just left Ulta and had to leave my feedback. I was in the perfume section for women. There were 2 ladies there along with myself looking at perfumes. An employee approached them letting them know about the new fragances and if they needed assistance. I was next to them and she didn't even acknowledge me at all. She did see me because there was eye contact. Didn't offer me to smell new fragrance nor if I needed assistance. Made me feel very uncomfortable because she went to cosmetic section and I was smelling other perfumes and just looked at me and still didn't offer any help. This is for the brow bar: I came in with the most terrible looking eyebrows ever. When I left, I had the most beautiful eyebrows I've ever had. After trying threading and waxing at different places, this was the first place where 1. she asked for my input 2. she showed me what they would look like when they were done and 3. I was not in that much pain. Susanne (or Suzanne?) did a beautiful job and I had people coming over after she waxed my brows to compliment me on how beautiful they were. Best experience ever!! This is the dirtiest Ulta location I have ever been to. The testers are absolutely disgusting. There was no way I was using any of them. Most of the brow pencil testers and eye shadow palettes were completely empty so it was impossible to test the colors anyway even if I wanted to. The displays are poorly cared for just about every item I wanted to purchase with every brand I looked at (Morphe, Tart, Laura Mercier, Urban Decay, etc) had those items missing including brow pencils, blush, foundation and eye palettes.These displays were filthy with makeup caked to them and most of the items I picked up were stocked in the wrong locations. It was really frustrating to shop in this store. There were plenty of sales associates standing around. One of them actually asked if I needed help and she directed me to the display I was looking for, but she offered no further assistance to find products. The register staff had no answer for why so many products were out of stock. The many sales associates standing around could easily clean up the displays and restock items, but I don't really think this location cares much about any of that. I will definitely be shopping at Sephora from now on. There's literally just too much competition in the makeup department for an Ulta to represent themselves this way and expect people to remain loyal customers. read more

I always go to ULTA to get my brows done, I usually am super happy with my result but last Thursday I went to get them done since my brother wedding was that Saturday coming, I was burned and had swelling and now scarring due to it. I had to cry while i got my make up(i was a bridesmaid) done because it hurt so bad to touch it. I wanted a simple cut to even out my sides with the back to form a simple bob. Only about an inch to cut. We specifically spoke about evening the back with the sides. I'm a huge Ulta fan, but this is the first, and last time I'll ever visit this store. I went in earlier today to find tinted moisturizer. I asked an associate, who had red hair and a british accent, to help me identify my options. She told me most brands aren't making tinted moisturizer, and that I should try BB cream instead. I explained that I didn't like BB cream, it was too heavy. She directed me to one anyway. She then showed me one tinted moisturizer, and went back to chatting with her coworker. (Following this event, I googled no less than 25 different tinted moisturizers currently on the market. I tried them all, on my own. I actually tested some of the Ulta brand and liked it, but there were no sealed bottles out, so I went back to the associate and asked her if there was more stock in the back. She said no, everything they had was out on the floor. And went back to talking with her coworker. I found the other item I needed, and went to check out, where I asked the cashier if Ulta did site-to-store shipping. She said they did not, but that she'd be happy to go into the back and check to see if the tinted moisturizer I needed was back there. When I told her another associate had told me that nothing was in the back, she looked perplexed and told me she thought it was worth checking to see if anything was back there. However, she was the only cashier (because all the other associates were busy chatting) and she couldn't go back and look for me right then. I waited around for a few moments, but then had to leave. I come here occasionally for make up and eyebrow waxing. I'm not overly impressed with there products but the customer service is great. I recently came here to get my daughters hair done for a special occasion. The salon area is pretty small no where for a person to sit other than the client. So not ideal for people with kids or a kid with a parent but whatever.. Yana did my daughters hair and I honestly I couldn't be more pleased. I didn't know what to do and I told her just do something simple and she delivered. She was very sweet to my daughter as well.. I would recommend her for sure! The prices are reasonable as well. I called around trying to find a good deal for a hair style that needed to last 2 hours and everything was $15+ more then what I paid. I am 100% satisfied and will return! read more

Every one star review is spot on!! Given the snooty attitude of the employees you would think this was a high-end beauty store located on Rodeo Drive. In all the times I have visited this store, which have been several, I have never been asked if I needed help or assistance BUT I was followed around once like they suspected I was a shoplifter. Are you kidding me?!?!?! Maybe if you HELPED me find what I was looking for I wouldn't be wondering around!! Generally, most products are in stock, however that is not the case for sale items. Always out of stock. The staff is too busy gabbing with each other to bother with organizing the shelves, perhaps if they did that they would become somewhat knowledgeable about the products they carry. They are always "out" of the samples the fliers promise are available - even if it is the first day of availability. A whole lotta cosmetics! Someone usually greets me when i come in and the staff are pretty knowledgeable of the products they carry. Ulta carries a wide variety of high end and also wallet friendly selections of cosmetics, hair tools, and bathing essentials. All of which are neatly categorized so your browsing is easy. As for comments on the staff, I'm sad to hear the treatment of other customers. There is one particular manager that is simply put, fitting the complaints I read. This Frederick location is perfectly stocked enough as any other locations. I appreciate that every cashier has their face on and is an above average application (to me that means that they know they work in a cosmetic environment.) and the "make up artists" (loose description) are not swarming and suffocating all over you when you walk near their section. I am a member, so it is eventually worthy to accumulate points with each purchase and have over the last two or three years earned enough for about $20 off my purchases. And, their coupons hit my email so I can pull up the link when I am at the check out counter. In general, it would be nice if the coupons were applicable to ALL PURCHASES. I have been caught when purchasing certain brands (especially perfumes and hair products) that the coupons were not valid, but...it is what it is. Ulta is a chain, but it defiantly serves the area. I had my eyebrows done there and was pleasantly surprised at how good the experience was! I didn't have an appointment and I had asked on a whim. They took me right away and did an AMAZING job. She really took her time and asked questions about my makeup routine and personal preferences. It was probably one of the best brow waxes I'd ever had. She was also extremely knowledgeable about the products. Being someone who has high-maintenance skin and is picky about makeup and skin products, I have a hard time finding the right products for me. Always have an awful experience here. The staff is rude and unfriendly. I was literally stalked throughout the store as I was browsing products, like they were watching for shoplifters. It's just so unprofessional and makes you feel uncomfortable. I tried the benefit brow bar and left with blocky, drawn on eyebrows that were like 10 shades too dark. It looked ridiculous. I came to Ulta for a haircut and they were able to see me within 20 minutes of my phone call which was awesome since my cut was spur of the moment. Walking into the location I wasn't greeted right away and there wasn't anyone available at the salon to acknowledge I was there for an appointment. I was 15 min early so I just walked around the store a little bit and closer to my appointment time there was a stylist in the salon. She took me back right away and did a consultation. I get hair anxiety because girls with long hair say a trim and an inch cut off and it's more like 5 gets cut off BUT Alex assured me she wouldn't take off any more than one inch. And she did absolutely that. She kept a lot of my length while still giving me a trim and framing my face. My initial impression of this Ulta location started out less than favorable but my haircut exceeded expectations and I will most definitely request Alex the next time I make an appointment. I love Ulta! Today I went there to get a new Lancôme Dual Finish compact and Mascara. I walked out with way more but so worth the money. I spent $275 and bought a charcoal mask and a pore remover nose mask. Some eye cream for the evening. All of these Philosophy products. I've never used them but their team of professionals were there today and I was given a scan of my face, a racial with the products I bought and other stuff I didn't purchase. Because I bought the products I liked I got a really peach colored, large Calvin Klein tote, filled with a lot of goodies. Including a full size Marc Jacobs daisy perfume & really so many more handy things to travel with. I also bought a new Lancôme mascara that has really dramatic effects. I didn't but all of the items The Philosophy team had suggested but the things I did get, I am really satisfied with.
