What a great salon! I called and was able to get an appointment with a level 3 stylist the same day. I am a distance away, I walked in and was greeted warmly and my stylist was with me, promptly. We chatted about what I was hoping to achieve. I was given honest feedback. I felt comfortable enough to allow some freedom while cutting. I am so glad I did! I love my cut and I will be back. I had passed by Lux Hair Bar several times because they are conveniently placed next to my favorite sushi spot in town and I finally called to make an appointment a few weeks ago! They were able to fit me in same day for a wash and hair cut, which was greatly appreciated! I was paired with Amy who did an excellent job with my hair. She was friendly and easy to talk to! I love my regular salon, but the price of a haircut as increased, and I couldn't justify the jew price. I had been to Lux for an event, although a good while ago, and decided to try it. It's a nice salon, and the cost of a haircut was less, plus there was a new client discount. My appointment was with Cam. She's amiable and fast, but most importantly, she's very good. The absolute WORST worst worst experience, I am a natural brunette that already had her hair highlighted and blonde that had absolutely no copper when going to get a root touchup . I also asked them to cut my hair in long layers originally my hair went down to my waist. I walked out with copper hair that did not have layers as I asked instead was cut to my bra line and hair that was frizzy like no other they can not do a good blowout. I called and complained. They said they would fix it at no cost. So I made an appointment with Jessica who I was told had 15 years of experience. After Jessica had done my hair for the second time I left with more copper in My Hair than the first time. she told me she can make an appointment to fix the copper. When going in for the second time to get my hair done was on a Monday, I made the appointment on a Friday to have it fixed Friday afternoon I get a text message from the owner Nikki, who is telling me that I will have to pay for the service to fix what they had done originally. They waited four days to tell me that I have to pay for services they had messed up . I wish I never went there because I looked better without what they have done to my hair. And the fact that Nikki the owner text me instead of calling, I feel like it was very unprofessional and cowardly, also when I responded to her text, she never replied. I wish I had pictures of what my hair looks like before I went in. They were trying to blame it on the fact that I was a brunette, which is not the case because I was already a blonde WITHOUT copper hair. read more

A modern and chic Truvy's salon -- This place is amazing. Modern, stylish, and informed but also so warm, inviting, and joyful. It's truly like a modern, fabulous version of the salon from Steel Magnolias. Every service I've had (cuts, colors, highlights, glosses, extensions) have been A++ and everyone there is so friendly and kind. Even just listening or watching what is happening in the chair next to you makes you happy and everyone who leaves the salon looks incredible. Everyone at the salon seems to talk about and care a lot about the quality of the products they use which feels great as a guest knowing that quality is top of mind. Made an appointment to get my hair done. Arrived and the entire time I was there a woman who worked there (my service provider said she was the owner) was "HAVING A DAY". All she did was complain and gossip about other people. SHE IS NOT A HAPPY PERSON. My visit was not a good experience being around that negativity. read more

Lux is located in The Beaumont Shops just across from Brew Burger. I have been a loyal customer of Lux Hair Bar for years. In fact, I knew Nikki and Justin before they took the entrepreneurial plunge! Lux is an Aveda Salon, which soooo many of the ladies like! I have even become a convert and stopped using hotel shampoo accumulated through business travel (You're welcome Nikki). When you walk in you will be greeted by Tia and notice the bright open design and the hair bar where the color magic happens. After you are taken back you will receive a short massage and then be whisked back to the washing station before your cut or other hair treatment. The reason I have gone to Nikki for so many years is she can cut my hair to perfection where many others would leave the top of my hair wavy and flipping up. All of the stylists at Lux do a great job and are constantly getting advanced training. They have stylists for every price point and would not recommend going anywhere else. read more

Love this salon, it is clean, bright, and everyone who works here is so nice!! Caitlin does my hair and she is so good at what she does. I have never (like NEVER) have trusted anyone to do my hair. However, with her expertise and advice I have had her color, style, and even cut it short (much to my hesitation but am obsessed). I have loved every look that she has given me, and always receive loads of compliments. If you need help with curling, styling, hair care, etc. Caitlin is knowledgable and happy to help. The billing system here is secretive. You are not presented a bill to review before you are charged, you are billed In advance and top bad if you were to have a dispute. The store keeps your credit information in their system just waiting to be hacked. This is an aveda shop and I have been going to aveda for over ten years and have enjoyed the scalp massage which is part of an aveda haircut. none given or offered here. A stressed out student at the University of Kentucky, I impulsively decided to cut my hair into bangs last night....and the result was actually horrifying. I went it for a simple dusting and bang trim and for the first time in my life wasn't pressured into a wash and style that would add $40 to the price for services that were superfluous to me. I have been a client of one of the owners/stylists , Nikki, for almost 3 years now and, this is the longest commitment I have had to any stylist! They take continuing education very seriously. While I routinely come to Justin, I would trust any of the stylists to step in. This place is so fantastic. I am new-ish to Lexington, and don't live here full time. I've been having a hard time finding a salon that I like in Lexington. Then I went to Lux Hair Bar this morning, and I am SO HAPPY with my hair. Nikki did my hair exactly how I wanted it. I've actually been coming to Lux for the last 15 months because I like Aveda products and I use them at home. I don't know what it is, but I wait at least 30-45 minutes after my appointment time to get my haircut. Meanwhile, several patrons who walk in get their appointments on time. I'm an extremely patient person, but I am ignored when I go there and they don't care to remember who I am. I went yesterday after work with a scheduled appointment, waited 45 minutes, realized that I had to be home in 15 minutes, and finally decided that the service there was not worth it anymore (it's not). They tried to make up excuses and say that I got missed somehow. History repeats itself. There's a clear difference between the type of people the hairstylists at Lux prefer. But I'm not white, blond, and I don't color my hair. Extremely disappointing in their customer service. I would have given a 0/5, but that was not an option. read more

Very disappointed with my cut. I think I could have gotten the same cut anywhere else for alot less. And the fact that is was an Aveda salon was surprising because it did not feel calm and relaxing, in fact it seemed rushed. My appointment was only 35 minutes long, which is the shortest time Ive ever spent to get my hair done. There was no good scalp massage like most places, the person that did my hair had no communication with me at all as far as what was done to my hair. Honestly, I could have had a friend do my hair because all that was done was trimming, not textures no layers no thinning like most professional places would have done. Also I was referred by a friend, and they did not give me $10.00 off like they advertise. Will not be going back. read more
