Ulta Beauty is a great birthday gift card to have! I was like a kid in a candy store! My sister highly recommended the Sol Del Jeneiro product line that has 5 different scents available. One reminded me of the smell of buttered popcorn! I'm often ensorcelled by all the Ulta Beauty offerings (using my Wayne State University Word Warriors List for 2025 - smile). After wondering around, I settled on a new makeup train case and some Cetaphil daily facial moisturizer. The makeup case was the last one with this design and rang up 50% off. Winning! I was assisted by two different employees on the store floor to locate my items and look up pricing on unmarked items. There were tons of case options available. The cashier was also super helpful as I purchased a gift card for someone else's birthday! One good deed deserves another. The birthday girl was super excited to open her birthday card and see the Ulta gift card. This location is located in a large shopping plaza on Middlebelt Road just south of 1-96. I'm writing this review so late at night because it's bugging me that bad. I never go to Ulta as much as I used to, on the 12th of August it was my sisters birthday so we decided to go to Ulta to redeem the free gift, as we got to the register she asked the employee if she could redeem her gift, right off the bat the employee at the counter was rude ash, I wish I had got her name but I unfortunately did not, she was an older African American lady, had an attitude as big as herself, we were having trouble getting the barcode to redeem the gift and so I asked if there was another way to find it and all she said was 'gmail' or 'barcode in the app'. Ended up leaving because she was no help and plain out rude. Happened 8/12/25 around 7:30-8pm customer service is not in her vocabulary, definitely should not be put on desk. read more

I'm an Ulta fan. This is my local store and pretty much my favorite. It's always a good visit when I am greeted upon entry and when someone asks if I need any assistance; Both happened on this visit, which made it better. They had everything I was looking for and the cashier even had stock in the back when there wasn't any lip gloss on the sales floor. Above all of this, their return policy is unmatched. read more

I'm sorry, but the inventory at this location is always light, and they never have fully stocked shelves. The staff are very friendly, but I recently called and was told that an item was stocked. I drove 20 minutes and walked in, only to see the item out of stock. I asked for help and they said they haven't received a shipment for that particular item in a week. I don't understand why I was told the opposite over the phone. I'd recommend going to a different location than this one. read more

I shop at Ulta maybe once every few years and I decided to try it out again today and I won't be back. Donna the cashier needs to be a little nicer with her words and tone. I wasn't aware you had to tell the cashier that you have a gift card, every store I shop at the reader takes it right away. She was harsh with her tone and words and treated me like I was stupid. The friendly customer service just wasn't there. Maybe she was having a bad day but she ruined my day and I left very upset. I never leave reviews but this one is important so she doesn't continue talking with that tone to others. Not every customer is a frequent shopper and understands how things work. read more

I booked an appointment for a hair cut. Nothing crazy. Just a simple cut. I was horrified at the service provided. I'm not sure how the hair stylist got her license. (Honestly, not sure how she even graduated cosmetology school.) I have never, ever in my life received such a horrible hair cut. It was so uneven it was almost comical. The back was an upside down "V". I'm not kidding. So I contacted Ulta customer service. I didn't think it could possibly get any worse, but it did. Below is the email I received in response to my complaint. For the record, just in case it wasn't clear, I was not happy with the service I received at all. I recently went to the Ulta in Livonia for a cut and style. Had a very sweet, young girl and I am a senior. Well I explained what I wanted done and told her of a problem I have had in the past, well she seemed to understand. Well when I left my problem was 3 fold as to the issue I have and it was cut way shorter then what she had told me she'd do and it just was one of the worst hair cuts I've had. I have shopped at this Ulta 5-6 times, so when I say this, do not take it lightly. Every time I go into this store, I feel uncomfortable and undesired. Just because I am a college student, it does not mean that I am a waste of time or space. I have been made to feel like both every time I enter this store. I would rather drive twenty minutes extra to go to Sephora if they would treat me any better. I do not deserve to be brushed off when I request help for a purchase I am going to make like I am an annoyance simply because I may not drop $300 in one visit. Ulta is one of my weaknesses. They carry prestige cosmetic brands as well as drugstore brands. You will find Buxom, Benefit, Murad, and Philosophy alongside NYX, Essence, Maybelline, and Cover Girl. They also send out monthly coupons. My latest visit was to use a 20% off coupon. Their Beauty Rewards program is also one of the best available. I will never go to this location ever again. Sales associates and managers are rude as hell and have no desire to even help people. I had to return an item that had a twist cap instead of an actual cap to cover the nozzle. The manager drilled me about this during the entire return. I told her that the item did not come with a cap and she was reluctant to refund me because she didn't believe me!! This is absolutely ridiculous - get a grip. I absolutely love Sharon she is an amazing eyebrow artist! She has always done an amazing job on my eyebrows.

I have been getting my eyebrows waxed here for years. This time I was very surprised she didn't show me my eyebrows after she was completed and continued by saying she would fill them in for free! When I went home and took off my make up I noticed she had taken a chunk out of my eyebrow and must have gotten scared from her mistake and wanted to hide it instead of telling me. After I called, spoke to a manager and came back to show them, the manager was very empathetic and gave me my money back and a serum to help it grow back. The store is truly luckily they have good management to backpedal for unprofessional/ unskilled employees. I could've gone to a nail salon, paid half the price, and had a much better outcome. read more

I love Utla, but would never go back to this location. Before heading up to the store, I called and talked to an associate about what I needed.The main goal of the trip was to have a color match and learn different options for applying foundation, etc. When I called I was told to come to the store and they could help, no appointment was necessary. When I got there, the associate on the floor ran to the manager when I expressed what I was in for. The manager then came over and explained I need an appointment to get this done and they can't do it that day. I explained that I understand if that's the policy, I was just really frustrated because I had called before driving up there. She just said "Sorry" and offered to schedule something. I would rather drive out to Novi to Ulta, or Sephora before going back there. Never again. read more

My friend and I went in for help finding a lip color. We saw one employee at the register, my friend walked to the back of the store and more employees were there, and no one asked if they could help her. This discouraged her and she didn't feel comfortable shopping there. We lingered a little longer, I felt we should given them time. We were passed up several times while in the store and still no one asked if we needed assistance. We went by the register where one person was helping a customer and the other not and still wasn't asked. The other lady at the register walked away from the register passed us, walked to the other side of the store and asked a young lady if she needed help. I had to walk over to where she went and to where three other employees were congregating and let them know that no one has assisted us. It was not until then someone (Stacy) assisted us and she did a great job in making my friend the bride happy and satisfied so kudos to her and the lady in the white coat, we didn't get her name. Was in the area and decided to stop at this Ulta to get a bottle of perfume I had been wanting. This Ulta didn't carry the perfume I was looking to buy, so I picked up two other bottles of perfume instead and was very happy with my purchases. The reason for my 3 star rating is because their was no one around to help. There was an older women working on hair or makeup, I can't remember, but when she was finished, she looked at me and gave me a weird look, and then greeted some man who was standing right beside me. He didn't ask for her help, the employee greeted him with a smile and asked did he need help with anything. It kind of ticked me off, and next time if I go back to this Ulta location, and I see this particular employee, I will be getting her name. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! I was the victim of fraud-some lowlife skimmed my credit debit card information and created a fake card. They then proceeded to make a $300 purchase at Ulta before I found out what had happened. When I called this Ulta to discuss what happened, the manager informed me that ULTA DOES NOT CHECK ID ON CREDIT CARD PURCHASES REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT!!!!!! Are you freakin kidding me???!!!' But why should they care because they are not held accountable and get paid regardless of the fraud that is perpetrated. Businesses like Ulta make me sick because they do NOTHING to protect their customers and as a result aid in allowing the massive wave of fraudulent credit card activity that plagues this country. Really disrespectful and rude staff. I was shopping when I saw the employees accuse a couple and their son with Down Syndrome of stealing. The employees called the police even though the couple denied the acussations. When they saw the tape, they realized that they didn't steal anything. The employees acused them of stealing without having proof of it. read more
