Hard pass on this Ulta. The beauty services associates were extremely helpful and friendly. The employees who were either stocking or packing online orders were the complete opposite. They would hardly move for any customers and acted like it was a great injustice was inflicted upon them when you were searching for a product in a section before them. I was surprised at how messy and in disarray this store was. Boxes everywhere. "This is in Lubbock?" I thought. The upsides? They were in stock of the three items I wanted, however, I had to walk around the entire store to find the jumbo shampoo on sale I wanted. They had most if not all of the registers open to help the long checkout line move more quickly. I won't be coming back. My husband went next door and tried to come back but they locked the door which I understand they were closing however he was just trying to pay for my items because it was my birthday present but they wouldn't even let him come in for that. I arrived 5 minutes before my appt. after waiting for my girl to finish her previous appt, I noticed she was beginning to apply bleach/color to her patrons hair. i asked the lady at the desk, what was Rosa doing. I went in for two birthday gifts for my roommate. I asked a Bare Minerals sponsor for help opening a perfume case (not knowing she didn't actually work there) and she helped me to find someone who did work there. The girl she asked to help me was very rude and acted like I was seriously inconveniencing her for asking for help with a task that would take maybe 30 seconds. She huffed and puffed the whole time, knocking things out of the way to get the perfume. When she grabbed it, she grabbed the wrong size (I wanted the 1oz, she grabbed the 1.7 which is more expensive and not the one I had been asked to get) and when I tried to correct her she looked at me and slammed the case shut. Then, when I reached for the perfume to take it to the checkout, she snatched it away from me and said "Um, I'll take this for you." very angrily. She asked for my name, so I told her, and she mockingly spelled back "K A Y?!" and I said yes, it was. I followed her to the front so I could check out, and she mockingly said to her coworkers, "This one is for "KAY" " in a childish way. I was dumbfounded. You shouldn't work in customer service if you can't be polite to someone who asks you to spend 30 seconds of your paid shift (which you were doing nothing at the time) helping them!! read more

I don't usually leave bad reviews as I am not one to complain but I went to the store at 8:12pm where it is clearly posted on the door MONDAY-SATURDAY 10-9pm and the employee at the door very rudely unlocked the door to tell me they closed at 8pm. when I said,"oh darn it. they why does The door say 10-9???" she proceeds to say to a manager who couldn't explain the wrong time on the door either..."well I'm not going to be the one to get yelled at." Genuinely one of the worst Ulta experiences i've ever had. I know the expectations of their employees from personal experience with the company and this was incredibly disheartening. Groups of employees gathered around each other gossiping and making fun of shoppers/others. Additionally, some were just standing around on their phone completely ignoring customers when they needed help. Definitely wont ever recommend. read more

Used to love Ulta but recently have had some problems. The prestige make up is always 70% out of stock. The employees harass you every 2 minutes. I have actually left because I've felt like I can't shop in peace without employees asking if I need help. Sometimes the same employee asks me like 4 times. I assume they are being trained to do that because they didn't used to. And in the prestige section it's the opposite. The staff is snooty and all in a clump talking and no one asks to help you. Yesterday I had a terrible experience with Rosa at the Ulta Salon in Lubbock, TX. I went in for an Olaplex treatment and blowout. Rosa did not greet me, or even have a conversation with me, during my service. The only communication was her telling me how long she'd leave the treatment on throughout the process. After the treatment she dried my hair, not even sectioning it off with clips, and then said, "how's that?" When I asked if styling was supposed to be included with a blowout she said, "it can be" and then asked what I wanted. I told her a beachy look. She proceeded to curl my hair into Shirley Temple ringlets, brushed it and sent me on my way. It was the absolute worst hairstyle. It looked NOTHING like the photo hanging on the wall at the salon displaying beachy waves. I had dinner plans last night but had to go home and rewash/style my hair before I could go. I would not expect to have to do this, as this was the reason, I asked for the blowout in the first place. When I went to pay the guy at the register asked if I wanted to leave a tip. Obviously I wasn't going to leave a tip for such poor service, and given the way my hair looked. When I said no, I would have thought that he would have asked about my service. Nope, he said nothing. This store is very disappointing and filled with people who are obviously just there to collect a paycheck. read more

Update: Thank you Ulta for doing absolutely NOTHING to fix this. You could have given me a voucher to buy $45 of MAC makeup now!! HOT TIP: Dillard's has FREE makeovers, and they do an infinitely better job!! On April 16th I had a makeup appointment at your Lubbock location. Two hours before it started, a manager called and canceled it. They had an appointment one hour later from my original appointment, so I took that instead. (I was getting my makeup done for graduation pictures, so I had to call my photographer, explain, and ask to push the start time back.) I arrived 5 minutes early, and the makeup artist was 20 minutes late and not in a hurry. My foundation was noticeably orange on me and at least 2 shades too dark. When I got to the counter to pay, I asked if I could buy $60 of product LIKE IT SAID ONLINE. I was told that usually I could do that, but the MAC people were not here today, and I had to pay $60 just for the makeup. I asked to speak with a manager, and the manager LITERALLY ROLLED HER EYES AS SHE APPROACHED ME. Another manager came over and asked to look at the makeup a little closer. She said, "I can see why you're unhappy. There is a tint to it." (You know it had to be bad if they were even admitting it slightly!) I only got $15 off. I got in my car, cried, and washed it off as soon as I got home. I had to pay $45 for a horrible experience, terrible makeup, and it ruined my photoshoot. Posted on Google: The ULTA in Lubbock is the only ULTA and hair salon, I have been that completely discriminates and avoids doing my hair. Twice I have made an appointment to do my hair to just be rudely told the quality of my hair and how they would not be able to do it. Yes, I have curly hair but it has NEVER required a silk press. The first appointment, I had to argue with the stylist and not only did she manage to prove my point that my hair is blow out capable but apparently she had written notes for next time. Second appointment which was suppose to be tomorrow, was canceled because of these notes. I had to argue with the stylist on the phone about my own hair and she just continue to tell me that it would take too long and cut into other people's appointments. She tried to make it seem like as the customer I would not like the job that would be done, but I had assured her that would not be a problem and continued to defend my own hair. Other ULTAS I have gone to, have been able to dye, cut, blow out, and style my hair. The one in Lubbock extremely lacks customer service, work ethic, and professionalism. Disrespecting your client due to incapability to perform a job is no way to provide and expect adequate service to a DIVERSE population. The stylist have no right to be telling the client about their own hair due to their lack of ability to perform a job. I have never left a negative review for a company, but I should not have to feel bad about my hair because a stylist was not taught how to do it or know the different type of curly hair that do require a silk press. As a customer this makes me wonder if the stylist are really licensed, because training does include styling all types of hair. Update as of today: the salon manager called me and blamed the issue on online booking and continued to give an excuse for "textured hair, such as calling ahead to explain my hair, timing issues, silk press recommendation, and stylist who can do it. I proceeded to remind them that this is the only hair salon that I have had this problem. She then proceeded to tell me I never had a service there, when there is notes about my hair and I have the receipt paying for the service done. I also have receipts of previous appointments that were able to do my hair just fine. I have spoken this issue with other hair stylist and they all agree that this is not appropriate service. I love Ulta and been to multiple Ulta hair salons and enjoyed their service. The Ulta in Lubbock is the first one I had to deal with not being able to do my hair, all the sudden. read more

Tried to get some help in the MAC foundation today and a lady name MADDIE was really rude to me kind of rubbed me off like I wasn't good enough. I asked for 2 samples of MAC foundation because I didn't know which I was and she said snooty "we only can give one sample but I guess I can do two" it made me feel really uncomfortable. If a customer is seriously trying out a product you should be kind and help them and obviously try and make the sale! I mean what's the big deal with one squirt of foundation? I lucked into getting my first experience with him by randomly picking his name on the Ulta web page for the salon for an appointment. To my extreme excitement he was the best! Not only is he a friendly guy that I would want to stand with at any party or boring baby shower, but he really knows what he is doing with hair. I came to him with a hard task. Giving me my very first ombre. I didn't know what that would look like on me or even what color I wanted. Seth figuratively held my hand through the whole process and helped me find my perfect hair. I wish he would have been able to literally hold my hand, but he was busy doing my hair. All of this to say, sometimes you don't need that super retro hair salon in down town to be happy and have a good experience. Usually have okay experiences here, but this time was not. Kaitlin L. and some older lady with red hair (not wearing a nametag) were being so rude at the counter. They had an attitude and almost wouldn't check me out because my friend held my spot in line while I went to go wipe some makeup off. The (fake) red haired lady literally ignored me and tended to the lady behind me, I couldn't help but think it was a race issue. This location is super convenient, as it's right next to DSW and Target, a trifecta of shopping awaiting me after an hour and half's drive from home. They keep everything I am looking for stocked pretty well, in all the shades I am looking for. Associates are all very friendly and helpful, but I find that some of them have applied makeup to my face in a manner that I would never wear it, which turns me off from the product. Like literally, one time I asked to try out a shade of Tarte Amazonian clay blush and the MUA made me look like a two-bit whore... needless to say, I did not end up buying the product. So, maybe ask to apply your own testers. :) read more

Hannah cut and colored my hair for about a year, once every 2 to 3 months, before I moved away from Lubbock. I highly recommend her! I was NEVER disappointed. She was always super enthusiastic, and I loved that she was unapologetically honest about what would look good/bad on me. I also dug that she never kept me in the dark about her processes. He even found me products that I had no idea existed but are exactly what I needed for my skin type. He was so personable and really made my experience overall positive. By far the worst ulta I've been to. It's so unfortunate that this is the only one in lbk. I got my eyebrows done today at the brow bar like I have been for the past 5 years a various locations. My eyebrows look horrible. They're uneven because she took way too much off my left brow and my right brow looks like it was barely touched. The wax was too hot and it burned me. If that wasn't bad enough the workers were so rude and unhelpful not just to me but to other customers as well. When I made it known I was unhappy no one even apologized or tried to make my experience any better. Went in to purchase make-up for my wife. First I was asked if I had their reward cards. I answered no. Then she said "phone number", I said no again. With that the cashier was short & rude.
