Petra Hair Design is great! The building is much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside and very clean. All of the stylists that were working were very social and sweet. This is a great place to get a haircut and I have definitely found my go-to place. I am always going through different salons to find "the one" and have always had a hard time trusting any salons. This is the definite one place that I trust and I love their online booking which tells you which hairstylist is the best as what service they offer. I recommend this place 10/10, you won't be disappointed! Also, Brittany was my hairstylist. I asked for blended layers that framed my face and she completely listened! I made an appointment with Grace to be shown some options for my thinning hair. She was amazing--very kind and took plenty of time to show me some products. We didn't find just the right clip-on, but when Petra walked by to check on our progress, she immediately went back to the phone to check on special ordering something she thought would work well. My first time there I was not treated with the same respect others were. I had an appointment and was still late getting my hair cut, the person cutting my hair kept apologizing and I said I am on my lunch she said next time let me know. But why if I had an appointment, and does that mean if I don't say anything it won't get taken care of in a timely manner. read more

I got my haircut months ago and downloaded yelp months later just to review this place. Don't go here. I went here to when I had very long hair to get a long pixie cut. The lady didn't know how to cut my hair and kept asking other people who worked there how to do it. When she finished, it just looked like a crappy bob. Nothing of what I asked for. I told her that I looked like lord farquad and this wasn't what I asked for so she tried to fix it and basically was just cutting off chunks of my hair. I was trying not to cry the whole time. She also made a homophobic comment during the appointment which I didn't appreciate since I'm literally gay. I never complain about places I go to but this one was so bad I had to. I left with a mediocre haircut, which was fine, just not what I asked for. read more

Very poor haircut. All I wanted was a very short cut. My hair was about 3 inches and I needed about 1.5 inches off all the way around. This seemed very challenging for the stylist. I should just had gone to a barbershop. I am very curious why the stylist don't show their licensed around their chair area. read more

Just had a horrible experience. Called ahead and booked a trim for my sister. We get there and we got the dirtiest look from the girl at the counter. There was an awkward initial interaction when we first arrived. She acted like we were lost and didn't belong there. She excused herself for a few minutes to the back. All of a sudden, even though we had an appointment, they couldn't see us. I guess it's because we weren't white like everyone else being seen. read more

I found Petra's Hair Design via Yelp two years ago when I first moved to Lubbock and have been coming here ever since. I love getting my hair done by Victoria, she does an amazing job with my cut and colour, I always leave feeling like a million bucks. You do not need an appointment. However, if you want a specific stylist--I recommend it. Beautiful salon. I go to Petra, the owner, and she does a wonderful job on cuts and color. I have very thick hair. She is the first to do it right. Highly recommend!! read more

My visit at Petra was wonderful. Sara was kind, attentive, and really took what I had in mind and brought it out in to my hairstyle. I have naturally curly hair that I struggle to tame, and Sara not only styled it that day, but also helped me to style it properly at home! I scheduled an appointment with Amy and she was the best! She was so incredibly welcoming and we talked the whole time! Not only did she do a fantastic job with my hair cut but she also braided and styled my hair afterwards! She made me feel so pampered! read more

I got my hair done here for a friends wedding, I asked for half up with curls, maybe some braids, but if nothing else I wanted some major volume. Not too hard, right? Wrong. The girl they gave me didn't have a clue what she was doing, she couldn't even work the chair I was in so I had to slump down in the chair for her to work. Professional, right? After using half a bottle of volumizing powder, still with little volume in my hair, attempting to curl my hair for over an hour and me voicing my unhappiness multiple times I decided this was enough and we let them know I wanted someone else. Another girl then rushed through it, throwing it up in some hideous braid and left my "curls" flat. I again voiced my unhappiness to multiple workers and finally asked them to just wash my hair so I could get to my makeup appointment and I would do my hair myself afterwards. They said yes, but everyone stood around doing nothing until I decided I would rush home and wash it myself. I still had to pay the $50 for my 2 wasted hours and had to do my hair myself with not even as much as an apology. Obviously I would not recommend. read more
