I'm specifically reviewing the salon, not the beauty bar or anything else really- I have bought Redken shampoo/conditioner and Body Shop tea tree face wash etc here, and I'm so happy that I can get Body Shop items here- ordering online isn't something I always think of until it's too late. But the Salon. Hannah is the sweet girl who typically does my hair- she's worked with me on color and cut, and although it isn't exactly free reign with my hair, it's pretty close because she is great at what she does and takes the time to listen and get to know her clients. Seth has also been around and I've seen him do magical things- but he's just accepted a teaching position at one of the nearby cosmetology schools and so won't be there any longer. I'm going today for a blowout only, not sure who I will see as I didn't specify in my online booking who I wanted to work with- was more concerned about a time today. Will add to this later as I'm sure I'll be happy with the results. Everyone is really friendly and helpful, and its location is really convenient for me as well. ***addendum following the blowout last Saturday. Not happy. To be fair to the person who did my hair, it doesn't hold curl well ever, but I was pretty clear about that before they began curling my hair. Also expected the prettier, large bouncy curls- not only did it not last but they were more what I would qualify as kind of beachy sort of waves/curl. It was alright when I looked in the mirror at the end, but I literally left there and drove home- to nearly nothing left. And by the time I got to my boyfriend's house to go to our birthday party here was even less left. I'm so disappointed. And I won't ever work with anyone but Hannah again. I know curl doesn't hold in my fine hair- but I would think that a beautician would hear that- plus already getting a sense for my hair texture- understand it needs some kind of special help with this. So I'm changing my overall rating- but this in no way affects my original rating of Hannah. She's awesome- they are lucky to have her. read more

I absolutely love going to Ulta! I always find what I come in for and much more! They always have great deals and sales. They also always have a coupon available for shoppers to use (either $3.50 off $10 or 20% off an item); during holidays they have special coupons. I am an ulta member and receive their emails, which have a lot of perks! Ulta provides a variety of brands to choose from; some brands are drug store brands and some are high end brands and some brands are offered exclusively at ulta! And of course, ulta has their own brand of skin care and cosmetics! This is my go to store for make up and hair care products! read more

Because this store is always dirty and the employees are very rude for no reason. They are there to help and you should be happy if not why work in customer service? I'm not just a bitter customer but I've been to many other utla stores and the layout of the store might be the same but the customer service is like night and day. Also on a side note the Sephora in Lubbock Texas sucks!!!! The head people really need to come to Lubbock to do an overhaul on the employees and store. read more

I went in to Ulta to find foundation. For twenty minutes I searched for the right color and by the time I was ready to walk out the doors someone stopped me and asked how they could help me. And to make things go from bad to worse, there were two employees working on another employees makeup instead of helping customers. I didn't have a yelp, but I specifically made one just so I could review how bad this Ulta really is. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Went to visit a friend, and the General Manager is absolutely horrible. There was only one employee I really liked named Stephany, but as for everyone else, completely rude, unhelpful, and didn't care one single bit about their jobs, or the customers. I don't even think they know anything about makeup. Do not ever go to this store. Seriously. It's less of a hassle to order your makeup online. I've always loved ulta, but this one always seems to be a mess and always being reorganized, which actually creates a bigger mess. Most of the employees are nice, but they never really come to you, you have to go to them for help. Lines are always so long, because they will only have two cashiers on. So maybe they are short handed? Overall there is a great selection of makeup brands and hair products no matter what you're looking for. Prices are good. read more

I had a very good experience at the salon here. AJ did my hair, so I can only speak for her, but I had a good experience. She did great with the cut, and I admit I'm pretty hard to please. She was one of the first hairdressers I've gone to that actually cut off the amount I asked her to, as opposed to insisting she had to cut off the amount that was needed in their opinion. She was also very friendly. I had originally had an appointment later in the evening but they were able to move my appointment to an earlier time due to a cancelation, and they were prompt to get in touch with me and offer that to me. read more

The general manager is rude, the staff are all rude, the salon is the worst place I have ever been and I made my first complaint to the corporate office and there is nothing they can do. They randomly cancelled my hair appointment and didn't tell me and then gave me three different excuses as to why. Normally my experiences at this location have been great for doing the dermalogica procedures but if you're looking to get your hair done consider taking a big chance unless you personally know someone's work. After being charged an insane amount for highlights and lowlights with a trim- my hair left me very upset. For one I've worked retail and most of the cashiers in the front have an awful attitude every time I come in-which does not make a good atmosphere. Also the whole time I was sitting in the salon the staff at the back register were talking disrespectfully about multiple different clients which I could obviously hear. Customers should be excited to come in and not feeling unwelcome. Second while getting my hair done, my stylist forgot about my foils with bleach under the dryer for ten minutes extra to the already almost half hour I sat under so they could cut someone else's hair(my hair is already blonde) then she ripped through my wet hair with a comb and no product after explaining to her the Texas water dries out my hair extra bad. My end result was foils bleeding all over, a botched haircut and destroyed hair. Last I call the manager to let her know my experience- all she did was talk condescending and sugar coat everything and try to convince me to let someone else fix it. I'm sorry but no-if that many things went wrong in my experience there is no way I'm taking another chance. People make mistakes but this is just not professional at all. After already driving the day before over an hour one way and back-I had to turn around and do it again today to get my money back on my card. No one asked me about my hair when I talked to the cashier-no one came to look at the results. Unfortunately this store could care less and doesn't even give me the respect to look at the mistakes made so they could be a learning lesson. If you don't want to even be at your job-then I'm definitely not going to waste my money and time. read more

Monica does a fairly good job, but lacks the professionalism that is important in salons. She takes on more than she should and they let her. How can she color, perm, and cut someones hair all at the same time on different people -no way!! Sure she is getting paid by each, but focusing on one person is how you keep a customer and doing what you are suppose to instead of a 50% job. A disapointment!!! This is a review for the Benefit Brow Bar. I have a special event tonight and came in this afternoon for an eyelash application. The girl who applied my lashes had no idea what she was doing and took four tries to put them on. I told her they were coming up on the inner corners and would be very upset if they came off halfway through my event. She made me feel like I was being needy and said they weren't coming up, but she'd fix it "if I wanted her to." I didn't have her fix them, because she wanted to take both of them off again, to reapply for a fifth time. That's just ridiculous. Plus, I felt she was very rude about it. Now it's three hours before my event and both my lashes came off. Thanks for ruining my night! I will never, even get another service done here. PS I'm not from Lubbock- I'm from Dallas and am super missing Stormy from the Benefit Brow Bar at the Ulta at the Shops of Park Lane. She is the BEST. Every Ulta needs a few of her! My eyelashes NEVER came off, even for days, when she did them. So, so upset and disappointed, especially because I saw this coming. read more

My girlfriend chose Ulta to go get her hair done. Well, the hairstylist dropped her glasses on the floor which caused them to break. We provided a receipt showing the cost of the glasses to which we were told "we aren't going to pay that much you should have had warranty" and offered us $80 and a 10% off coupon at their store. This is how Ulta takes care of their customers and shows their appreciation. Obviously, we will never be going back and our working with a lawyer. read more

I keep going back to this ulta and I'm not sure why because the cashiers are beyond rude. There have been multiple times where the cashiers have had horrible attitudes and have been out right rude to me for no reason at all. There are also displays out advertising a certain sale price, but when I go to check out, the items are regular price, because the employees didn't not update the signage after the sale was over. When I asked the cashier if the item was supposed to be on sale, she fought back and forth with me about it rather than trying to help me or investigating what may have happened. I have contacted a manager trying to explain that I love Ulta, but it's not worth going back due to all of the rude cashiers, and she just said "okay that's fine I'm sorry" Not sure how this Ulta is still in business with such awful customer service. The beauty industry should be an uplifting experience, not something that leaves you feeling mistreated. The Ulta location in Lubbock has ruined what used to be my favorite beauty store. read more

I went to the salon today, and the woman who did my hair was amazing! So professional, and gave me everything I wanted. The problem began when I went to pay. The woman who checked me out, Brittany, was so horribly rude to me. I tried to ask her about getting a reward card, but she assumed I was asking about paying with reward points and immediately shut me down! I was trying to get a rewards card, but she interrupted me and didn't care about what I had to say after. I left feeling humiliated. I felt completely out of place for basically being denied a rewards card. Shame on you, Brittany. Go for the salon, because they are lovely people, but don't expect ANY other store associates to be helpful. read more

The worst experience with ulta for balyag ombré , very very bad results. First the color wasn't what I wanted it was totally the opposite, I brought a picture for an ash color and I got brass colored hair. I have brunette hair color and I knew it's not going to be the exact same as the picture but at least the same category. The second problem was that you can see a line between my natural hair color and the new color which defines a failed ombré, I can't describe how bad that was. My hair was botched. Then with 4 and a half hours appointment she tried to fix it and failed, told me that she will let her manager call me to try to fix it because "she's more experienced" next day I called and she was able to see me. Tried to fix it but it was really botched and hard to fix. At the end I got my hair bleached three times, 4 times toner applied and still bad results. The color was better not what I wanted still and I still have this ugly line between the two colors. I think I overrated this place, I should've known that it's just like supercuts and those cheap places, except that I payed them 160$ to botch my hair. Ended up with damaged ugly hair. First and last hair color experience with this place. I don't don't don't recommend it at all. read more

My first time visiting the Lubbock store was less than inviting. I headed in, along with my mom, to purchase several items for a trip out of town for a wedding. I went in on a Saturday after spending all morning hitting up garage sales, thrift stores, and antiquing....MISTAKE! We felt totally judged by our appearance, which I understand is hilarious because you would kind of expect that from a "beauty store". The sales people talked to us but looked down their noses at the same time. When we tried to look they would stand right next to us as if we were going to pocket something. I don't like to play the race card but we are Choctaw and people around here think we are Mexican....So I would caution against visiting the store unless white, well-dressed, and fitting that mold of conventional beauty. I just found it interesting that I was being judged so harshly by people that make just above minimum wage in a retail job. read more
