Love this store! Bruce the manager is so friendly and professional. They have all the great skincare products you need starting with Clinique, Tula , Dermalogica I even spotted The Ordinary which is new brand of skincare I heard of through TikTok! I'm rating this a 3 star simply for the service. It's SO hit or miss. I used to be a hardcore Sephora girl because the service there is too notch. Kind, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. However the closest Sephora to my house closed and some of the products I use are only carried in Ulta. Years ago I refused to step foot in the store because NO ONE WOULD HELP ME. I purposefully just kept walking around the same three aisles waiting to see if any of the women standing around would come help, but nope. I swear they wouldn't because I wasn't dressed correctly. The next time I went into an Ulta begrudgingly, I was directed at the "$10 and under section" UHHH NO HONEY, I used Sunday Reilly products, but thanks. It was years before I came back. More recently, since the Sephora closed, I started going back to Ulta and had a few ok experiences. Except one employee, some older woman in her 60s with a blonde Bob just walks around the Clinique section (another well loved line by me) and JUST STANDS there and NEVER speaks to me. This is the Ulta on the Carlisle Pike. She has been in there multiple times when I go and not one of those times had she offered to help me. It's really disappointing that it still happens. Except now, since no one wants to help, I just treat myself to a nice skin care routine with the most expensive products I can find. I normally end up buying some of them in the end and always am reupping my Sunday Reilly collection but man, it makes wanting to go in there, REALLY difficult! read more

My daughter needed a prior dye job changed up and refreshed. She received gift certificates for Ulta for Christmas and wanted to give Ulta a try. She had Danisha as her stylist and she was excellent. She listened attentively, used great products, and gave my daughter the results that she was looking for and that make her happy. Her hair looks great! read more

Its not often that I write reviews however I just received the worst attitude ever by a cashier in my 46 years of shopping. This was Friday afternoon, 1pm at your Carlisle Pike Mechanicsburg PA location. The cashier was so rude to me. Telling me my coupon expired when It clearly had not, and wanted me to go to the website to get a new one. Then she said after all that my total was only $14.50 not the $15 needed to qualify. Which reason was it? I said , no problem, Ill go get more to be able to use it she seemed shocked. I just left with out any purchase instead. I didn't want to deal with her again, she was the only cashier. I also asked for the Fresh line of skin care and the sales person hadn't even heard of it. read more

I like Ulta, but it just doesn't compare to Sephora in terms of selection and quality of products. Ulta sells their own brand of makeup and while it's cheap enough, it really isn't any good. I bought eye shadow that was their brand and it only stayed on for about 20 minutes. Their mascara is cheaply made too and despite it being waterproof, still came off in about an hour. The one really good thing about this place is their in-house salon. I had my hair cut there once and it truly was one of the best haircuts I had. Their basic haircuts with no shampoos run about $40 which is well worth it as long as the person doing the cutting is good. I'd go back to get my hair done again, but I doubt I'll buy anything else there. I'll stick to buying products elsewhere. read more

While it doesn't equal Sephora in terms of makeup and beauty selection, it's a great local option, as the closest full Sephora location is in Lancaster. There are still a ton of products I'd love to buy every time I walk in the door. The salon services are my favorite. I used to go to cheaper chain haircut places but was never satisfied with the cut I received, so I decided to give Ulta a try, and I've always been happy with the haircuts I've gotten. I've seen a few different stylists, who have always been talented, friendly, listened to what I want, and followed through with it. I've never gotten a haircut I didn't like there, and it's totally worth it to pay $50 for a good haircut rather than $20 for a disappointing one at one of those cheap chain places. As for the staff working throughout the store, sometimes they're a little difficult to locate, but I've always found them to be helpful once I managed to track someone down. I used to use powder foundation and wanted to switch to liquid, and had no idea where to start. One of the staff members helped me pick out a foundation I'm so happy with, I may never use another kind. I've never had any problems with customer service here. read more

Ulta is no Sephora, but if you just need to pop in and see a color "in person" before placing an order elsewhere it is worth the trip. Unfort. the sales assoc. are not well trained and can not offer advice and info. I had an associate tell me all about this "great new product line that was just released..." the look on her face when I told her I have been using the product for 3 -4 years was priceless. She honestly had NO IDEA that the product was not new. SALON- only in an emergency. Went once for a wash and blow out (due to an injury I could not wash my own hair), I was clearly an inconvenience to the stylist's conversation. After she washed my hair she asked how I wanted it styled I replied "like it was when I got here" she had to admit she had not noticed. Not the best use of my time or $36. Sigh! read more

Customer service anyone? Scary place. They treat you as if you are intruding on their social hour without an invite and you are dressed inappropriately. (Tmi?) The selections are ok for the basics. They really need to do damage control as far as taking supposed returns and slapping them back on the shelf. Maybe mark a tester clearly with a label so that 5 of the same product is not opened and spilling and just gunky and nasty. I have been to many Ulta stores throughout the country and this is one of the 2 that fails to offer me a salon service. (The other being in Tennessee) Not that I want one, eww. But it's a part of their job and that old thing called customer service. Not really planning to return to this particular store because the last time I was in, a angry "I really hate my job, hate my life" purple haired employee, double charged me for a product, after I asked her if it rang up twice. She looked at her monitor and said "no". There was no room for genuine human error, because it was the first item she scanned. Once I got to my car and went over my receipt I realized I was took. So I had to go back inside of that overcrowded zoo and get some money back. Btw, the items were all gifts and they do not offer gift wrap. Why not? There is a perfectly good counter behind you. I went into Ulta Beauty on the Carlisle Pike today looking for a collection of nice quality, more affordable products that tailor to my skin type. I have to say, Hunter is by far the absolute best customer service employee I have ever come across in any industry. He not only gave me his best opinion on products that would look the nicest on my skin, but helped me color swatch for the right match in every product. I needed more affordable products for my budget and he was very gracious in meeting my needs. His enthusiasm, knowledge, and excitement for the products made me feel so thrilled to try them out after purchasing. He is such a breath of fresh air and makes you feel like you've been best friends forever after just meeting him. If you ever have any questions or need help with picking out the best makeup products, he is definitely your guy!! You won't be disappointed. Just simply outstanding! :) read more
