I walked into the store and immediately noticed that not a single employee approached me as I headed toward the back looking for toner. After about 10 minutes of searching the shelves, while watching someone offer help to my mom but still avoid me, I started to walk away. Suddenly, five employees surrounded me in the middle of the aisle. I explained I was looking for toner for my freshly bleached hair, and one asked, "Face toner?" None of the five employees were willing or able to help with my hair situation. Instead, they all began reciting rehearsed reasons for why they couldn't assist me. I understand that there may be policies about recommending products, but the complete lack of kindness, guidance, or basic human accountability was honestly shocking. In the end, one employee reluctantly walked me to the hair color section only to explain again why she couldn't recommend anything. Five employees, zero real help, and no sense of care for the customer experience. I left feeling confused, dismissed, and honestly pretty disappointed. I have been going to ULTA Beauty hair salon, the Mesa AZ location in Superstition Springs Mall on Southern Avenue for the last year and a half, on a monthly basis for basic no-frill services. I received a text message informing me that my appointment was cancelled for this August's (2024) visit, and to call in to rebook. When I called the salon I was transferred to the store manager (Cherise/Sherri I believe is her name) who told me they had canceled my appointment because they were no longer going to provide hair services to me, as it seemed I was unhappy with the stylists, and was jumping from one stylist to the other. I then attempted to counter by saying shouldn't she have reached out to me to hear my side, but at that point, she hung up on me. She certainly did a poor job at representing ULTA in how she handled this situation. Also it would seem that she endorses poor quality service if she feels it is acceptable to have the stylist keep having water running down your back and staining your clothes (with hair color) when rinsing out your hair at the bowl. I tried to work with Brooke, the stylist by offering suggestions such as tucking a towel at the back of my neck to help absorb the water (which in my opinion is sheer common sense), and maybe also ask her colleagues for assistance, as it was only with her this was happening. Evidently, the constructive feedback wasn't received as intended. To be clear, this review is not about the stylist nor with their decision to no longer provide me with hair services, but with the manager's apparent lack of awareness on what is acceptable behavior towards customers, as well as her inability to handle situations as such, being in a managerial role. read more

The only reason I give them a 3, is the selection they have. So I don't shop much for makeup. I wear it on occasion . Plus allergic to most . My husband got me a gift card. I went in to get vegan mascara . Now I've done this twice . The girls send me to the most expensive mascara they carry. Other than that brand, they knew nothing . I can't believe that this Ulta location has such a low star rating! How can they only have 2 stars?! This was the best Ulta location I've ever shopped! The inside of the store was extremely clean and everything was organized! I've never seen an Ulta store so organized in my life! During the 10-15 minutes I was inside of the store, I had 4 sales associates ask me if I needed help or if they could help me find anything. I did ask the first lady who asked me if I needed help where a specific product was located in the store. She walked me over to the aisle and I was able to find what I was looking for quickly. Checkout was quick as there was a very short line and the cashier was nice. Overall, I had a great experience here. I've been to many Ulta stores between the LA area of California and the East Valley area of Arizona and I've never had such amazing service! read more

I refused again, to which she said if I needed to exchange or refund it without giving her a phone number I won't be able to. I came to this location because it showed a product I was looking for was in stock. I had tried to do in store pick up for the same item at two other locations that showed the product was in stock but by the time it came to fulfill my order they were out. I came here hoping they weren't sold out, shelves were out. When I went to the front desk two lovely associates helped me and went to check their stock in the back. You don't see this type of service anymore, they were also pleasant about it and didn't make me feel like it was an inconvenience. read more

Didn't have a pleasant experience. I was looking for a product and an associate startled me. The rude associate looked at me as if I was going to take something. I felt uncomfortable and discriminated. The look on the associate's face made me feel like I didn't deserve to be there. I was disappointed. I was looking for something specific and when associate asked me what I needed I was trying to remember the actual name of the product and mentioned it to him and before this associate said "no we don't have that" while I was still looking I told the associate I found it. So shame. If you're going to offer help, please be kind and make the effort to really look first before replying just to be sure. There's always room for improvement. I was visiting from out of state and brought my mom in for a haircut. I decided to get one too along with color and highlights. My mom's hair turned out great. My stylist was Corrine. I asked her for a mid-length chunky layered haircut. I had been trying to get one for years in Utah with bad results. The cut Corrine gave me was amazing! Better than I had ever hoped for. It has been 3 weeks and I still get compliments every day. It is easily the best cut I have had in nearly 30 years. I was on holidays in Arizona visiting family and I am from ireland. when I visit I always visit this ulta. This was probably my fourth time in the store stocking up on makeup as it's cheaper than ireland and as I was shopping I witnessed a manager or supervisor being very rude to an employee. the manager/supervisor accused her of stealing but as the encounter went on it was clear the young girl was innocent. this kind of behaviour was disappointing to see since I love coming to this store. I put everything back and left and got my makeup somewhere else. I just couldn't cope with how rude that blonde manager was. I get my hair done by Lex in the ulta salon. I've tried multiple different hair stylists at ulta and even at other locations and she is by far the best hair stylist I have ever had. I've recommended my friends and people I see at work to go to her and anytime I see them they constantly say how much they love their hair because of her. She is very thorough and really listens to what you want done. She is such a sweet girl and makes you feel super comfortable. I refuse to go to anyone else because she is that amazing. If I could give this specific location zero stars, I would. Every employee I have encountered at this location has been incredibly rude and extremely unhelpful on multiple occasions. I have never left a review for a company prior to this, as I can typically overlook rude employees, but this experience has been a nightmare. I am a loyal Ulta customer. I have been shopping at Ulta ever since my early teens. I have spent thousands of dollars shopping at Ulta throughout the years. Rarely do I ever return products that I have been dissatisfied with. Typically, if a product doesn't work for me, I gift it to a friend or a co-worker who would love the product. I am currently in school for aesthetics, so I am always on the hunt for new skincare. I typically try out multiple skincare products at a time. Again, I am in school to be an esthetician. I am highly aware of how my skin handles new products and I do extensive research on said products before buying them. I purchased several new skincare products from a different Ulta location. I went home and tried each product out separately over the course of about a week. I had a horrible allergic reaction to several of these products, I broke out into hives and had huge splotchy rashes. Clearly, I was allergic to the products that I had purchased. Unfortunately, because I had such a bad reaction to them, I was not willing to regift them to anyone else, so I made the decision to bring them back to the store for a return. I stopped at this location because I knew I was going to be in the area and this location was the closest to me at the time. When I told the women working at the register I needed a return there was an immediate difference in her attitude. She was having problems with how the products were ringing up, so she called over another employee who was also at the registers. The other employee tried to tell me that I had already returned the products. How would I have all of the products and the receipt with me if the products had already been returned? Makes zero sense. The original employee at the register had called over a manager who immediately was incredibly rude. She helped the original cashier figure out where she was making the mistake ringing up my returns and then proceeded to make several comments to me. She said I was "returning too many products at one time" and then proceeded to berate me about why I was returning the products. I told her because I had an allergic reaction to them and broke out into hives because of them. She was clearly dissatisfied by my answer. She proceeded to tell me that "I'm trying out too many products on my skin at one time and that's why I had an allergic reaction" This manager's entire attitude was extremely off-putting. Ulta has a return policy in place for a reason. If they refuse to return products that caused their customers an allergic reaction, they are no doubt looking for a lawsuit. It's a wonder this manager is even employed at all. She truly needs to work on her customer service and compassion for others. The employees working the registers clearly need better training, as they have no idea what they are doing. My advice is to avoid this location like the plague. Spending the few extra minutes driving to a location down the road is honestly worth it. Do not waste your time or hard-earned money at this location. read more

i came here to shop for the benefit hooks bronzer and there was this manager I believe her name was Sherri. Well I was going around looking for it and while I was walking around i keep catching her staring at me and she was super weird well after I found the bronzer I came to the check out and I saw her she came up to me and she said "hey I know you stole something" and I said no I didn't what are you talking about? and while I was looking at her hair I noticed liceeee jumping around in her at that moment I backed away from her. she said to show her the receipt of the item I bought I said I haven't even bought it yet and that she was crazy she kept going on on how about I stole and she kept harassing me in front of people she made me so embarrassed and had my anxiety going up. once someone said that I have not stole and was about to buy something she stopped harassing me and said welp im sorry . i said was it because I'm hispanic and she just stood there and I just walked out without buying the bronzer while I was going to my car she came up to me and said no it wasn't because you were Hispanic I said nothing an got in my car while I was backing out I almost ran her over because she was just standing there!!? Today I had a terrible experience at ulta. I am a new mom and have kept myself and child inside for the last 3 months due to the pandemic. I haven't done anything for myself in the last 3 months, so I wanted to try a new skincare line out. I found out that ulta carried it and checked online for a close store. I have always had a great experience at ulta so I thought it was a no brainer to pick it up from there. I went to the one at superstition springs. Upon walking in my baby started to cry. I calmed him and determined to get my new products I walked to the back of the store. My baby started crying again as I am looking through every isle looking for what I wanted. My goal was to get in and out quick. The store was no where near busy and 2 employees just looked at me and turned the other way. Terrible customer service as you could clearly see I was struggling to look for something. I thought ulta was all about empowering women. I for sure didn't feel empowered and left to my car to cry it out. I felt helpless as all I wanted was to get out of the house and do something for myself for once.
