I've been going here for braid hair for years and have never had an issue. Even after moving all the way to San Tan Valley, I still made the 45 minute drive because of their selection and customer service. Unfortunately, I probably ever won't be going back after my last visit. My mom and I drove (again, from San Tan Valley!) to get my first wig. I was very nervous since I'm totally new to wigs and had to get it for my best friend's wedding that I was Maid of Honor in. We got there and had to search for the wig assistant. Then she barely answered any questions with more than 1 word answers, didn't give any suggestions or even explain how to put the wig on! I am white, and am new to wigs needing one now that I have alopecia. I had so many questions, and tried on so many wigs! The women working here are so sweet! The ladies in here are awesome! I've been in there a handful of times and they're always helpful, nice and professional. Today there was a problem with their internet and they couldn't check anybody out/they're cash register system was out of commission. They apologized, held my items, called to tell me their system was back up. I went back to purchase my items and they apologized again for earlier in the day and that I had to come out again. Great place to buy all manner of beauty supply products and I found the owner ( at least I think she was) to be very helpful. I was in here several times in 2010, my last visit to Mesa. Unfortunately when I drove thru the little center this was in today, the store was empty and signage was down. Whether they moved or closed I will have to find out but it is gone, along with at least two other businesses I know of in this particular center, the wonderful little Z-lantro Mexican restaurant I frequented on my last trip, and the Blue Goat restaurant I found on Yelp but didn't find in the center. I was not greeted when I arrived looks like the manager was in a middle of a interview and another person was waiting as well. I wanted to see a few wigs behind the counter and no one came to ask if I needed help. I found someone who was putting items on a shelf asked her to come help. Another lady walked after me and was then was helped before me after I waited 10 minutes or more I was nice and just watched them engage as friends who apparently knew one another chatting and having a great time, the employee knew I was there first but didn't seem to care. I let it go what else could I do I wanted the product. I let her know it was my first time and no other location had what I wanted. Well I was finally helped. Customer service is not a strong focus here. Lots of boxes on the floor and not much interaction, I didn't want to give them a review because I didn't want to give a bad one. Well if you go here plan to wait. Have patience. It will work out good in the end. Prices are very reasonable and quality of merchandise is good. Customer service not cool. Overall FRUSTRATING experience! Let me give you the long story short. Sunday May 24 2020, I came to United Beauty KNOWING they were closed but still curious to see if they posted anything for their Memorial Day hours. And they did and the sign on the door said "Due to the Holiday we will only be open on May 25, 2020 from 10 am- 6 pm" So I thought cool I can still go by tomorrow and get what I need from this specific store. Cool. NOT COOL... Monday May 25, 2020 I get off work at 5 so I rush across town and get to the store at 5:30 only to see another sign saying "Due to the Holiday our hours will be 10 am- 4 pm" Keeping in mind my hair appointment is Tuesday May 26 at 7:00 am. Frustrated as can be I begin to rearrange my whole schedule for the week because of the lack of consistency. Here we are today May 26, 2020 9:30am waiting outside the door for the store to open yet again. Even though online on it states that the hours are 9am - 9pm. There is a sign on the door stating that there hours are 10-8pm for further reference but I was unable to see that 10-8pm sign because the "10 am- 4pm" sign was covering it. Twice she had the opportunity to "upsale" me and was very honest about what I should buy. She was also a huge help when I was struggling as a first timer with extensions. Only beauty store I've liked in Arizona! Just went today and had the sweetest, most helpful, cashier! Thank you, Victoria for being so helpful and kind! Always a sweet staff and never annoyed by the millions of questions I have LOL! Not too pricey on hair. But hair products can be a little overpriced but not too much.. If they had a little more knowledge in black hair would be helpful it's the only things I'd say could use some improvement on. I have been a loyal customer of this location for almost a decade and recently had a horrible experience through both through the phone and in-person. I called to see if they had i-tip extensions in a body wave in stock and the woman on the phone rudely says "I dont know, i'm busy right now" and told me I had to come in, so I did. After coming in to the store, I literally walk in to an empty store, besides one customer who was on her way out and 2 employees, whom were all conversing while I stood there for 15 minutes without any acknowledgement whatsoever, even though I was standing 3 feet away. Never a hello or any kind of service. So I wasn't able to get service regardless even though I came in and drove 40 minutes like I was told. Never going to be buying here again, which is disappointing, but you vote with your dollar and would rather shop elsewhere where the staff isn't rude and careless. read more

I would like to start off by saying that Haniyya was AMAZING & SO HELPFUL. I went in the other day to find hair extensions to help give my hair more volume & length since I do a lot of modeling my hair needs to look it's best & it doesn't always. When she recommended buying a wig, I have never worn one but I thought it couldn't hurt to look/try on. Haniyya went above & beyond to help me, after trying one on I'd say I spent almost 2 hours looking for the perfect wig but I couldn't decide, so she helped me pick out my two favorite ones that were lace-front synthetic - they look so real! I also purchased some shears to help thin out the wigs to fit my look, and she gave me a ton of tips & tricks for being a wig beginner lol :) 5 stars for this place! 04/29/2017 I was greeted by a young heavyset black girl with blue streaks in her hair and smokey gray contacts. I told her that I wanted to look at the human lace front wigs. These are the MOST expensive wigs in the store starting at $199.00 and up. The girl immediately starts to "lay down" all the rules of trying on their wigs. She said that it costs $1.00 to try on their wigs. If you buy a wig the dollar goes towards the total purchase price of the wig. If you do not purchase it then you still owe $1.00. Whatever fine, I went there with the intent to spend $250 so a dollar isn't going to break the bank! I asked her to show me a curly bob wig. She hands me the wig on the mannequin head and says: "As long as the store is empty like this I will let you try on as many wigs as you want but if other customers come in you will need to stop trying on the wigs." The store is empty as she stated, so I just gave her a nod of acknowledgement and focused on the curly wig that she presented. I began to touch the hair to feel the quality. This is a $199 NONREFUNDABLE wig. I need to be absolutely in love with it before I leave the store because I can't bring it back! The girl then says "Ummm the only thing I ask is that you don't touch the curls because it will lose it's shape." This particularly annoyed me because I hadn't even tried the damn thing on it was still on the mannequin head! If you don't even want me to touch it how are you going to feel while I try it on?? I tried understand their point of view as a business because this wig was for display so it needs to look it's best. I asked the girl if she could show me the wig in it's packaging instead of on the mannequin so I could touch it. She went under the counter and showed me the same wig in its box. She wouldn't LET ME TOUCH IT. She pulled back the plastic a few inches and started to say what great quality it was. I am really pissed at this point. I asked her to take the damn thing OUT of the box so I can examine it throughly. She said "I can't take it out the box, it's going to lose it's 'newness'." I literally said "GIRL BYE" and left the store. That's a really shitty way to treat a customer. It's like they want to TRICK YOU into purchasing without even trying it out. This was my first time going to this place. I wanted some black clip in extensions. They had so many extensions, but most of them didn't have the clips sewed in, which is totally understandable! They didn't have any black ones and the woman who was helping me ordered them from another store and called me when they were ready, which only took two days! I'm sad to say I forgot her name, but she was super helpful and answered all of my questions. They are synthetic 18inch and we're only 25$! I picked them up today, and they are soft, they barley shed, and they look like real ones. I moonlight as a makeup artist (unfortunately this is not yet my full time career, but one day), and I had read about other UBS shops & how great they were for supplies. I think this is a franchise location since it has the same name as the stores in downtown PHX? Anywho, this location was closest and I've now been in there a few times. Its no Sally's (as far as organization is concerned), yet I think it gets mega points for carrying some professional grade cosmetics lines (think La Femme, Cinema Secrets, Red Cherry etc) which I cant really find anywhere else other than online. The prices are a little more expensive than what I could order online, but I figure with shipping it would probably equal out. The lady with the red hair is AWESOME. The other people that work there are really nice as well, however that lady is always working when I go in, perhaps she's the owner? She's always super helpful. Now the biggest selling point is ladies- this store carrys Red Cherry false eyelashes for $2. So if you just like wearin' em or use them on models or both (like me), its a freakin steal and they are great. La Femme eyeshadows and blushes are only $3 and are just as good as if not BETTER than anything you could buy at Sephora. I cant say much for the quality of the hair stuff, but it seemed like they carried a lot of hair and nail supplies at great prices, so if you're a beauty queen, dont walk-run there!
