I went by the store today (2/16/22) and was very disappointed to find that they are still requiring masks even though, at this point, that is no longer a government requirement, so it is a store policy. Ulta is your number one beauty destination! They have everything you need from affordable department store brands, to high end professional products. As soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted with a friendly smile and are able to see the promotions going on. I have been in there on numerous occasions since they opened.... and I have heard and read the good and bad reviews. My personal opinion is that, the customer is not always right. If you want to receive good customer service, you first have to be a good customer. If you walk in with the intent to judge instead of shop, you will not get a positive response. You get what you give. Be the person you would want to talk to. As for the salon, every time I have been in, they seem to be busy. Which, can only mean word is getting around that they know what they are doing. I cant wait to see them grow and build their reputation! First thing I noticed when I went into the store the first time was the amazing smell and how clean it looked. I was there on a mission to find a new foundation that was going to be great for the summer. I asked for some help since I had only used drug store makeup in the past. she sat me down with a few choices but never gave me prices on any of them. She applied the 3 of them in different intervals so I could see the difference and pick which one I liked. I picked the Clinique bottle thinking it was what was best for my skin. It was $27, definitely not what I had in mind for a price but I bought it anyways. After my first use applying it to my entire face, I wanted to return it. It was supposed to be a lightweight formula and it felt like i was putting waxy lipstick on my face. Lol. Not buying that one again! read more

A few days ago, I came in looking for makeup and was helped by an amazing employee named Luis. He was so knowledgeable and after listening to what I was looking for in a mascara, he suggested one I would have never found. I have a new favorite mascara. I have shopped here often with no issues, they have what I need and more, and the staff is nice. Nice is great and all, but Luis is beyind that. Way beyond. What an asset to this store. I still go and get my brows done by Sahara (Nichole) and I am regular customer of hers. She knows her brows and I get complimented on them all the time and she also knows about products as well. She never lets me down at all and if I come in and say I want something different she does it. I like Ulta as they have a great selection if high end products as well as mid range products. Some of the staff appears to be non interested in helping or even approaching you. I had my eyebrows done for the first time ever last weekend. The gal was super friendly and did what appears to be a good job until I went home and later took my makeup off. I don't come here as often as I'd like but when I do, I love to browse all the fun items and smell all the perfumes they have in here. The employees are kind and helpful, I was looking for a particular item and didn't have much information to go off for the woman to help me but she tried her best based off my description. We looked together and she felt that the item I was looking for was no longer there, that it was a seasonal thing from last year. I left and not an hour later, she called me to tell me that the item had just been unpacked from the back and if I wanted to come back I could find it in the front of the store. Ordered online for in store pickup. First time doing this so I was unfamiliar with the specific process. I ran errands for three hours and assumed (stupidly I guess) that the three items I purchased (over 100 dollars, btw) would be ready. I walked in and asked the associate how in store pickup worked. There were no customers in the entire store and three visible associates at this point. The first girl asked my name and looked in a basket for the order. Meanwhile , a women who appeared to be a manager or some kind of shift supervisor walked over. My items were not there and the manager-y one then asked me, extremely snidely "um, did you recieve an email that it was ready?" I explained that it was my first time purchasing things like this and that I didn't notice an email but I wasn't sure... She them cut me off, saying that it hadn't been "picked" yet and that I would have to wait for them to do it... the snide, rude and passive aggressive tone was dripping off every word. Then she just...walked away? Seriously? As she was walking away with a third associate, she loudly said "I'm so sorry, that totally distracted me" as she returned to helping her with a display. I turned to the first girl, thinking it was still my turn since my issue was not resolved. By that time there was a line and she was checking others out whole the other two played with a display? Give me a break...i walked over to the two at the display and inquired about the payment I had already made online via PayPal and when I could expect for them to be able to pick my three items...she was clearly annoyed and said "it doesn't charge you until it's picked and you can either wait for me to pick it or get it yourself" I had already waited about THREE HOURS to go in and at that point she was clearly not interested in helping me in person anytime soon so I roamed the store while my boyfriend waited in the car in 100 degree heat ( we thought I'd be in there for 5 minutes) when I got to the check out, the store was basically empty again and the girl who checked me out meandered to the computer, picked up some trash on the counter.....slowly entered her number into the register, stared at the screen for 30 seconds and finally said she could help me....so passive aggressive ( I know I already said that but it was THAT bad) I was so angry at this point I didn't want to interact with these pricks any longer...looked for name tags, none were wearing any....i figure date/time of purchase and in store video will suffice when I send corporate an email. Worst staff ever and I will never return. Ever. Online Sephora it is! I went to the store today and I was the one that greeted the cashiers instead of them greeting me *FIRST PROBLEM* I looked for someone to help me find products and I got ignored MULTIPLE TIMES. I asked one staff member who was helping another customer and I waited to give them space and once she was walking I said "excuse me, could you point me to -" and she walked faster and further away from me, then the next person was stocking product and I asked for help and she ignored me, then I asked another one and that's right, you guessed it, completely ignored. So, I gave up and walked out the store deciding to only buy things online but flirting with not at all. Sorry Ulta but this store is making your company look terrible. Rude, snobby employees. My mother and I went in there one day and needed help finding a product. I swear the two girls they had on the floor kept avoiding my mom and helping everyone else. My mom is darker skinned and it seemed that they were just trying to help all the fair skinned customers. We tried to flag them down when they would walk past us, but they rudely just ignored us. Also, when she went to see if the salon took walk-ins, the lady at the salon said,"oh no not right now i'm very busy!" So we left and when we looked back she was just sitting back on a chair with her feet up just reading a magazine. Never ever shopping there again. read more

This review is for Angel Mermis in the Clinique Cosmetics Department. I went in there a few weeks back inquiring about a foundation. She sat me down and color matched me. She was spot on with what I wanted. She made me feel super comfortable and in fact, it was almost like friends. I then asked her how she did her eye liner so she took the time and showed me what she used and taught me how to do it. She gave me pointers and ideas. Usually when I go into ULTA I do not get treated this way at all... in fact, usually the girls are not friendly at all. Staff seemed helpful and knowledgable but after spending over 225$ there I went home and did some research on the products I bought. The Clinique rep (autumn) had lied to my face about certain testing that the products had been thru. After consulting Clinique, there was no evidence to back up any of her claims. I won't return even tho it's 25 min closer to me than Sephora. I don't like being lied to just so a rep can make a sale. I loved the idea of high end products mixed with everyday brands like Maybelline and Neutorgena-but I didn't love it so much that I'd pay double for it! Sally Hansen nail polish that is $2.49 at Target was $4.99!! Maybelline Mascara for $6.99 when it's usually $4.99? No, thanks! The girls in the salon were very stand off-ish and didn't even smile as I walked by. And, they had very brightly colored blue and hot pink hair-that might turn off the less "hip" clientele. I did take advantage of the ULTA line of body moisturizes, spray and body butter. Very similar to Bath and Body Works with the same buy 2 get 2 free gimmick plus I had a coupon for $3.50 off a $10 purchase or more so I got 4 items for about $20.00. If I could give zero Stars I would, BAD costumer service, nothing like sephora. I came in today for the 3rd time to try and get a facial and this time the only lady they have doing Dermatologica wasn't too busy or on a brake nor disappeared, she was gone for the day at 3pm REALLY? And I had to literally chase one of the employees around for her to help me with those news. I also needed a toner and an exfoliator which I needed help finding but employees seemed to literally be scared of people, some of them were just doing each others makeup. I just had to walk out the store because no help was received! So I went to the MAC makeup counter to get my makeup done ... it was an hour appointment ... the artist that did my makeup was Roger he was very friendly,Super nice guy however is application of makeup was horrendous. I honestly don't think he's ever applied makeup ... he kept complaining about how he didn't have the right brush anywho he took over and hour ... he wasn't finished I told him I need to go ... Maybe if I had stayed another hour it might have all come together .. but 60min appointment doesnt mean 120min I was prb there for 80min and it wasn't looking good .. well I'm glad I was able to get to my hotel wash my face off and reapply it myself .. I will say I did buy this glitter eyeshadow that I love so I'm happy with my purchase ... MAC has always had really good artist at least in sacrament and the Bay Area and even Visalia MAC... I love MAC products and in my experience there artist have it together ... I'm not sure if has to do with MAC being in Ulta or just that these artist training isn't held to the same standard as other MAC stores read more

I love makeup and I love shopping. But I hate going into Ulta. I don't know her name but she always looks like she is miserable and never ever is she nice. I believe she is management as well. How excellent is it to go into a place to buy stuff you love, only to be greeted by a sour puss that clearly hates her job. In one tiny positive note, I love that MAC is sold there I just would like someone who is nice and helpful to answer my questions, not bitter Betty. Today, thought my husband and I would go into this Ulta in Paso Robles for the first time. What a joke ! Nobody on the floor to help anyone! I use Dr. Perricone's hypoallergenic line of skin cleansing. I found that on my own, but there was no price and no one to ask. Then, my husband uses Redken Man's shampoo and conditioner. We looked for that and couldn,t find the men's section. Again, no one around to help us! We were so frustrated with this, we walked out! No one seemed to notice! I was very excited to learn our town was getting an Ulta. We have not had access to high end products without driving to San Luis. Even though I knew it would be crazy, I visited the store on the morning they had their soft opening. My guess that it would be crazy wasn't wrong, but everyone was very friendly, obviously still learning and doing their best. I went back after the Grand Opening and once again, found everyone to be friendly and helpful. I had a salon service and was very happy with my experience. Jackie was awesome! Highly recommend her for a facial. This store has only been open a month and a half. They will work out all the bugs, their staff will have learning time under their belt and the store will be an asset in our community. Just give them a little time. read more

I have never written a review, but today I went to return a product with a faulty dispensary that I could not get to work. Since I had not purchased it within 30 days, the woman at the counter treated me like I was trying to pull something over on her. She was very loud and insulting. I was in the store yesterday morning and saw no less than 3 clerks walking around. I was trying to get help at one of the cosmetic counters and every time I walked toward a clerk, she just left the area. I only saw 1 other customer...no one helping her either, but she may have known what she wanted. The selection of assorted products is nice, but I doubt I will revisit. I came in to Ulta for a color service because I had been to an Ulta in the Bay Area and their stylists were very accommodating and well trained. I made an appointment with Mellisa T. and explained to her I just wanted an all over color with natural looking highlights. I brought in a lot of pictures and she assured me it was very doable and got to work. My first clue should have been that she was almost ten minutes late. Mellisa got started on my hair using foils and some very unorthodox techniques (ie dunking my hair in the left over color bowl). She never checked to see if the bleach had processed fully before taking me to the bowl to rinse. I ended up with orange blobs in my hair and not the beautiful Carmely highlights I had hoped for. I asked her about it being orange and she assured me that it would lighten. Yea right. She then told me I could straighten my hair if I wanted... Uh really?? I got out of there as fast as I could. Some one actually asked who I let do my hair, because I should get my money back. Devastated I called the next morning and talked to a manager. They were very accommodating and I made a redo appt with the salon manager! She was great! 5 hours later I got as close to what I wanted with out my hair falling out. Beautiful balayage highlights!! I rebooked with her and I can't wait to go back! They definitely went above and beyond to make up for the disaster that Mellisa T. caused! read more

My favorite one stop shop for my beauty products! Angel the Clinique girl is very helpful! Even with all the other products in the store. I'm a frequent shopper. And I have two teenage girl who unfortunately suffer from acne. Angel is my go to for all things beauty and skin care. I would love to give this location a five star rating. BUT, my experience hasn't always been so pleasant. There's another girl that works there Marina who seems put out when asked for help. I had asked if she could give any good suggestions on a flat iron and thermal protectant. Of course thinking they all know what might be best for ones hair I took her suggestions and hated it. Yes I know I should have do some research on the product. And I know everyone can have a bad day from time to time. But, seriously she always seems miserable. My first and last time going in to this place. I walked in to see if I could get my brows done and was given an appointment an hour later. So I did some shopping at the store next door and came on time to my appointment. I promptly told the first lady I was waiting for my 4:20 appt...it was 4:21. I waited almost 10 minutes before someone came to help me. Apparently the lady left. What the hell! Then the manager proceeds to look at the book and says I have no appointment. I look at the book and my name was clearly erased. They should've been honest to me from the get go that the girl had to leave early. I get emergencies happened and who knows what happened to her. I'm not mad at the girl...I just wished someone called to let me know. I have a three month old with me. That hour I wasted was precious time. I was going to get some perfume too. From now on I'll continue buying my makeup/ perfume at Macy's or online. I'll just have to wait for my brows to get done but I'll gladly give my money to my regular salon. I usually have a decent experience here, since compared to most ultas, they typically have better customer service and actually have items in stock. However, today I was totally being followed by the girl with short, red hair. Every time I would walk to a different isle, there she was... never asked me if I was finding everything ok, or if I needed help.
