After going to ulta beauty for several years (almost 8 to be exact), I unfortunately had to cancel all future appointments. Thanks to one of the stylists that completely messed up my hair, and it was a "highlight" job which she clearly has no competency for. She first tells me that a specific color would not look good, because she does not like it, that should have been my red flag, then she failed to blend my highlights and claims that the blonder you go the more "streakier" highlights tend to look. Clearly there was some communication, but I am not sure why being in 2026 balayage/baby lights have to be communicated, so that might have been my fault, but I did not have highlights near my roots to begin with, all I wanted was for to make my highlights brighter. She also made my bangs look super choppy, and having to deal with this for my out of state conference left me feeling very insecure. You should feel prettier walking out of a salon, not uglier.. Sorry Ulta, but I will no longer be needing your services and you should probably make sure that if people are having personal issues they should not bring those into work (not my business to dish out her personal issues) but it seems that she had some personal stuff going on that she clearly brought into work especially since her hands were shaking the entire time she was bleaching my hair. Pros: only beauty shop in our far northwest Peoria area (other than a tiny Sally's which of course doesn't have it all) Sephora does have a spot in Kohl's Nextdoor but again doesn't have all the things a mall Sephora would have so Ulta is the main place you could go to get your make up, hair products, perfume, styling tools, AND have a salon right there with it. So convenience is a huge pro...they also have good quality products. Salon services range from just ok- to good. Nothing terrible nothing great. This location is just unbelievable when it comes to employee training. A very simple issue took 25 minutes for no reason. Picked up an order and immediately realized outside that it was damaged. A simple exchange took forever when it was same price, exact same item and they could have swapped it in less than 1 minute. But they went in the system and spent so much time trying to exchange it, return it etc. and then when manager arrived, did the same exact thing that they were supposed to do. Cannot believe how such reputed brands waste so much customer time on such easy fixes. They need to better train new seasonal employees to get there act together as it is super frustrating to deal with all this when this was a no brainer situation. read more

I had brown hair but was wanting to go back to my natural dirty blonde color. I scheduled an appt and when I came in they informed me that I booked the wrong service so they would not be able to take me back to blond. I totally understood so while I was disappointed, it is what it is. about 6 weeks later I knew I wanted to make another attempt at going back to my blonde. So, just to be extra careful, I called a week beforehand, spoke to someone in the salon and explained that I am brown looking to go back to blonde. they said to book the Total Blonde treatment for $118. therefore, that's exactly what I did. when I went in for my appt, again I was told I booked the wrong kind of appt. I told them that was frustrating because I went out of my way to call before scheduling. she informed me that she could do it but instead of $118, it would be $180. Ugh...okay, I guess! after she glanced for a split second at my photo of the color I wanted, we got started. **sidenote**- I have had my hair bleached to a platinum blonde and it bleached into a beautiful icy blonde. It also maintained its moisture. So...bleach does well on my hair, historically speaking*** After the appointment was over, I paid way more than I planned (but as big of a deal), but my hair was YELLOW and dry like straw. The shirt I was wearing was all bleached from my hair and it looks horrendous. I will never....NEVER....go to Ulta Beauty Salon again! read more

Went in browsing to try a few new perfumes! Finally picked out one and they said they had a free gift deal if you bought snif perfumes! Was getting checked out and the cashier Amaris was super snarky. She told me to put my phone number in the pin and I told her it may be under this number or my old one so I put my new number in and it didn't ring up and she's like nope. So I tried the other one and she's like do you want the new number in there and I said "yeah I can change it!" And she looked at me and said "you can? Or are you gonna." I politely apologized and said yes please change it to the new number!- I then asked if the free gift was included with the perfume and she said "I don't even know." And another associate came to help me and was super friendly and I didn't get her name! I watched Amaris ring up the next person and asked for a phone number and the lady started to say her number and she interrupted her and told her to put it into the pin pad with an annoyed tone. read more

I have politely declined multiple times, they continue to push like I'm leaving money on the table and when I explain I prefer my travel rewards card I got "well you clearly like makeup too, so why wouldn't you get the card?" At that point I told them I wouldn't be getting the card no matter what to please stop. It has happened in a similar fashion at least 3 times at this location more so than any other! read more

Had an appointment at 445pm with stylist Amber in April. Touch up, cut and glaze. Everything was going well until the manager, kept walking back and forth around 715pm making the stylist very nervous. She was rushing to finished my haircut and stated to me, "if you don't like it you have 5 days to call me". I was rushed out to pay and went home and cried. My hair was shorter on the Right side and the back was chopped off and uneven. I was so upset. I will never ever recommend Ulta Salon. They lost 3 clients due to this manager. Returning customer for the brow beauty bar. We scheduled with Sam again as my older girl loved her brows last time. Brought in my other daughter for a first time clean up of her brows. She did a great job not only shaping them and cleaning them up she also talked her through everything she was doing so she wouldn't be nervous which I of course appreciate. She did both my girls brows and lips. My oldest went a little thinner this time and Sam does a great job at listening to what they want and goes over little details with them to make sure to get them just right! There's an Ulta less than 10 mins away from us in Surprise and we drive to Peoria to see Sam. Thanks for the great brows my girls are ready for BTS! read more

Ultra is hot or miss for me. I'm not a huge makeup fan and don't wear a lot, but what I do wear I try to order online or hope it comes in my makeup order though boxy charm. This location was clean and organized. I was greeted once inside. I almost seemed to be shocked at what some people are willing to pay for makeup etc. I came in specifically looking for mascara, but didn't find one I felt I'd like. I do like their selection of perfume but I'll save that for another day. read more

** After reading other reviews this does not seem to be unheard of at this location After a wonderful brunch with my own mom, I took my girls to get a gift basket for their mom (My wife), who is a nurse and working all day today on this Mother's Day. We were asked several times if "we needed help, which was nice by idea, but did seem a little more than usual. I noticed the staff was staying very close to us and talking on their ear pieces but didn't think anything of it. It eventually made sense and clarity was found. After selecting several items and a bag for their mom, we were approached by a team member who said their manager "watched" my straight A's AMAZING daughter put something inside of her skirt waist band. My daughter showed them her waist line and pulled her skirt open to show she had nothing. The manager Karen (appropriately named) told the manager Rachel (according to Rachel) SHE WATCHED HER DO IT. This was a flat out lie and was surely racist as she was the only person of color in the store and we were targeted from the get-go. This was how my daughter felt and what she said. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. We have been very fortunate in life and most likely make more money than these employees will ever see. More importantly, we have integrity. We dont need to steal anything. We can simply buy it. We were unapologetically treated like we were scum and a nusiance without any remorse when proven wrong. We were alienated and emberassed without even so much as an apology. If I had more time to go somewhere else I would have dropped everything right then and there but instead just proceeded to check out and purchase all of the items we had. When I called to make an appointment Nicole told me there was nothing available that day. When I went online to book an appointment it said there was an availability at 3pm. When I came in for the appointment Nicole asked "what are we doing with the hair" I said I want a trim so it looks fuller and thicker. She said well " I would have to take half your head off and laughed at me. I get compliments on my long hair all the time and have never heard of a stylist making comets like this she proceeded to say" your whole head is damaged and brushing through it would be horrendous. I Bought the "Ulta self tanning express tan tinted mousse" not even a week ago and it leaked out and soaked through all of my luggage, clothes, and makeup. I called the guest service line and the first time the person hung up on me and the second person said there is nothing they could do. No one should buy this product unless they want to end up with all of their valuables ruined. I had an awful experience with this company and don't want to ever go back. She also does an amazing job on eyebrows and lip waxing. In addition to the awesome facial, she helped me find the correct foundation and concealer by using the color matching technique. Rude, untrained staff. Some lady walked up to me asking if I needed help finding acne products. I didn't ask for help, she came up to me. First of all, that's rude. Second, I don't have acne, I have rosacea. This staff member pretended to know what rosacea was but she obviously had no clue, as she was trying to offer me products with ingredients that make rosacea flare up. She was clearly trying to sell specific products. Do they work on commission? Train your staff better. If I needed help with my skin I'd ask someone. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE BY ANDREA! My mother made an appointment to come here on the 15th and had problems from the get-go. I called my mom when she was signing in to tell her about a special they were running and the stylist was so rude to my mom when she asked about it, I told my mom to just walk out and not even get her hair done. If I can hear how rude you are through the phone and not even be forced to see the snotty faces you're making then you certainly don't need to be in a customer service position. To my mother's regret she stayed. I called my mother a couple hours later to see how her cut and color went and she was crying. This "self-taught stylist" turned her hair ORANGE, cut it crooked, used a razor on her fine hair and in other words, DESTROYED HER HAIR. Not only did she destroy her hair but apparently her shift was up and she decided it was time to leave before my mom even had time to come to grips with what she had done. I told my mom it couldn't be as bad as she thought. Sadly, it was worse than she described. The following day she had an appointment with Lauran, the salon manager to try and get it fixed and I went with her. WOW, Lauren is a miracle worker, after multiple cycles of chemicals and washings the orange was for the most part gone and the cut was...better. The problem with a bad hair cut is there's only so much you can do. Not only did Lauren do a great job with her hair but she was a lovely person as well. Very friendly and VERY patient while my mom kept describing how horrible of an experience she had with Andrea. I wouldn't let Andrea ever touch my hair and if you don't want to look ridiculous, you shouldn't either. Lauren, however, was AWESOME!! read more

I would advise customers at the salon to beware of Chelsea. She seems like a brand new hair stylist that needs to learn a little bit more about how to treat customers. I was straightforward about what I wanted done to my hair (my usual color that I get from another stylist there) and she confused the hell out of me and didn't really give me a chance to explain what I wanted. She gave me a list of swatches and I pointed to the color I wanted and said "there, I'd like highlights of that color". My hair turned out much darker than the color I picked. I stayed to get it fixed but the way she was talking to me was quite condescending and she tried to put the blame on me, saying I should have either paid more or explained better. Shouldn't have given her a tip! I would never treat a customer like that. All in all, make sure when you like a stylist, you stick with her or pay a little extra for Nicole :) read more

I don't know how these stores stay in business. I've had had experiences at other locations, but this one is convenient to my home so I decided to try it out. I visited this location 2 days ago. I had trouble finding what I was looking for, and of course nobody was around to ask for help. After wandering around, I finally found it and went to check out. There of course was nobody at the register and nobody around except 1 employee helping another customer. After waiting for 8 minutes, somebody finally showed up to ring up my $85 item. I would order online from anywhere else or make the 20 minute drive to Sephora before ever setting foot in this store again. read more

I LOVE Danielle and the Benefit BrowBar! I was able to easily schedule an appointment during my lunch hour. Danielle walked me through the quick process mapping out the plan before she waxed to make sure that I was a happy customer. The wax she uses is like magic! Almost painless and left me without red, puffy skin (which was great, because went back to work after my quick appointment). Terrible experience today. My wife just returned from a hair appointment and while the cut as acceptable, everything else was unacceptable. First, a significant increase in pricing over her last visit and was not mentioned until checking out. Lastly, and the worst aspect today was the comfort level of the store, or lack thereof. It was extremely hot and everyone, customers and staff alike were commenting on it, had multiple fans blowing, etc. It was assumed something was wrong with A.C but actually no, all were told corporate controls the thermostat for all stores and the staff could not adjust. My wife's actual stylist encouraged her to complain to see if it helps. The corporate office did indeed hear about it today but we will see if we get a response. Do they realize it is hot in Arizona?
