I am writing this review to express my concern regarding an uncomfortable experience my girlfriend and I had during a recent visit to Ulta Beauty. While shopping, I picked up a BaByliss blow dryer that I was considering purchasing and was carrying it with me while browsing. At some point, the security tag was accidentally triggered. The security guard immediately approached me and aggressively took the item out of my hands, stating that he would hold it at the front of the store. After this interaction, the same security guard proceeded to follow closely behind me throughout the store. No matter which aisle I went down, he remained directly behind me the entire time. His behavior made me feel extremely uncomfortable and singled out. Because of this experience, I ultimately decided not to purchase the blow dryer. While I did still purchase a perfume and lip gloss, the situation left a very negative impression on me as a customer. I felt targeted and harassed, which made what should have been a normal shopping experience very unpleasant. Due to this interaction, I do not plan to return to this location. I hope that this feedback is taken seriously and that steps can be taken to ensure other customers do not have a similar experience. read more

Subject: Incredible Glam Team - But Disappointing Checkout Experience This was my first time ever having a formal makeup application done, and I didn't know what to expect. I was beyond excited when I was matched with Zachery. He instantly made me feel relaxed and safe--like a kindred spirit. There was no pressure at all. I'm officially a big fan! Mandy, the eyebrow magician, was equally incredible. She chose my color palette and it was absolutely spot on. Her smile is infectious, her energy contagious, and she has a gift for making you feel beautiful. When she tells you that you look amazing, you believe it. I was ready to walk the red carpet feeling like a million dollars... and then checkout happened. Lauren, the cashier, did not greet me. I greeted her as I handed over the makeup ticket and the box for the lashes Zach had applied. She abruptly demanded, "WHERE ARE THE LASHES?!" I was surprised, smiled, and gestured to my eyes--they were on my lashes. There was no response. I tried engaging politely: "How's your day going?" No response. "You're so helpful." Still nothing. When I entered my phone number for points and handed her the slip, she asked, "What do I do with this?" It honestly felt like I was being asked to do her job. After such a warm, uplifting experience with Zachery and Mandy, the checkout interaction left a disappointing final impression. The front register is the last touchpoint customers have, and unfortunately, it undid some of the magic created by your talented artists. THE MAKE UP ARTIST GAVE ME PINK EYE. I wanted to treat myself to formal makeup after getting promoted at work. I scheduled my appointment for 1pm Friday with Jasper. I got there 15min early and waited. He said he was almost done, and by 1:15pm he started doing his clients hair, then by 1:30 he passed me off the the MAC counter. The only reason I stayed was because I was told I'd get my full face for free, instead of paying the $75. Chris at the MAC counter was clearly sick with a runny nose and sweating- but was kind and had good customer service skills. I am in so much pain that I took my uninsured self to the urgent care, where they informed me I have pink eye in BOTH of my eyes. Now I'm missing work for 3 days and have a medical bill that will set me back. To any of the other folks who got their make up done at Ulta this weekend and got pink eye, let's chat. My partner and I had a terrible experience at this location due to the actions of a cashier, Jasper. As we checked out, Jasper asked if we had a number on file, we said no. They then asked if we would like to sign up for their rewards program or something similar, which we declined politely. This would have a been a completely normal interaction if it had not gone any further. Unfortunately that is not what happened. Jasper continued to push for us to signup for their program. We had to decline at least a dozen times before they would allow us to purchase the items we were there for. They would not take no for an answer despite our multiple attempts to simply pay for the items. We had to literally ask Jasper if it was possible to buy the items without providing our personal information. They replied yes, but still insisted that it was highly recommend that we give them our personal information. We will not be returning. This behavior is not only extremely pushy and meant to make us feel uncomfortable to the point that we give in and hand over our information. But the lengths that Jasper went to try and gain that information bordered on harassment. read more

I am a frequently shopper at Ulta/Jantzen Beach. I buy most of my make-up and Dyson hair products there. Chris, the MAC rep, is amazing. Chris personifies customer service and attention to detail. Chris is a master at color matching, finding the correct palette for the look you want AND teaching you how and what you need to achieve the look. Chris will schedule appointments to work with you to ensure you love your look, then find the accompanying products you need to do the look at home on your own. Chris is kind, patient, and still attentive to other customers milling around the store. No one is ignored or walks in the door without hearing "welcome to Ulta". Ulta and MAC are lucky to have such a valuable and talented person in Chris. read more

I drove 30 miles (one way) to Ulta, Jantzen Beach, after verifying on their website that they carried the products I was looking for. I was there, with my list in hand, wandering the aisles for almost 15 minutes before I asked a young lady to help me find Kiel's. Oh, that store doesn'T carry that...but Cascade Station MIGHT!! shouldn't the website be clear about which stores don't carry certain items? seems obvious to me. The entire time I was wandering the store (1 other customer was in the store) at least 5 young people stood by the registers up front just having a great chat with each other. There were also 3 young people re stocking. NO ONE EVER ASKED if I needed help. First and last time I go in an Ulta. I will order online or go to Sephora. read more

I will NEVER go back! I went in to make an appointment to get my hair done a certain way, after showing her the picture of the style/color I was after, I explained to the manager, who was helping me, that the person who normally does my hair could not get the look right and that the color would wash right out. She assured me that they could do the style/color I was asking for without a problem. She quoted me a price of $180, explaining her prices were higher because she was a manager. I was okay with the price as long as I could get it done the way I wanted. I ended up booking an appointment with someone else as the manager was not available during the day/times that I could make it in. She assured me again, that the girl that I was making the appointment with was "great with color" and would "have no problem getting me the results I was after". The day came for me to get my hair done, I explained to her exactly what I explained to the manager as to what I wanted and my failed experiences with the same look in the past, she also assured me that it wouldn't be a problem to obtain the look. She then quoted me a price, a price (I watched her price out at a lower quote then proceeded to price our a higher quote to get the quote up to the managers quoted price, even tho she was not a manager) I found out later that her prices are in fact cheaper than the managers so I was overcharged for the individual doing my hair. STRIKE ONE! Once my hair was done with the color, she blowdried and cut my hair (cutting off most of the color she put in my hair) and also cut it inches shorter than I told her I wanted. It was like she was just doing what she felt like doing versus what I asked for the entire time. STRIKE TWO! I was very unhappy with my hair but have always been one to pay for a service that I am given (happy or not). I went to the register to pay which led me to stand there for 15 min (making a bad situation worse) while two employees took FOREVER (15 mins) to help the customers they were helping when I initially walked up. I ended up having to pull an associate off of the floor to take my payment, I seriously almost walked out without paying which after the headache I have endured, I should have done just that. STRIKE THREE! After going home and looking at my hair a bit better as well as having someone take a picture of the back the next day, I was even more unsatisfied with what I was left with. This is when I contacted corporate online, who wrote me back with an apology and stating that a manager from the location would be in contact with me to make the matter right. I didn't hear from anyone after that and I have still yet to hear from anyone. After initially not hearing from a manager, I wrote back to the corporate email I received stating that I had not heard back as well as attaching a picture of what I go versus what I asked for. I heard NOTHING! STIKE FOUR!!!!! To make everything EVEN WORSE as if it were possible, the next time I washed my hair, ALL of the color had completely washed out of my hair! I was assured by the girl that did my hair (Aire) and the manager that booked my appointment that it would last AT LEAST 4-6 weeks if not longer. Because this was one of my BIGGEST concerns since this is what had happened in the past. STRIKE FIVE! I will never get my hair done or even shop at an Ulta ever again in my life. My business clearly does not matter to them in the slightest with the way I have been treated during this experience. NOTHING was done to make the situation right and I feel like I paid $180 for a haircut, a freaking HAIRCUT!!!! I am beyond upset and caution every person thinking of going to Ulta for anything to just not do it. Do not support companies that could care less about their customers becuase they clearly have forgotten, CUSTOMERS are who keep them in business. read more

For make up and facial / hair care products, I'm a Lush fan, so it may seem odd that I'm also a fan of Ulta. Mostly, I come here for haircuts and for the brow bar. Occasionally, I test perfume--nice selection of perfumes to sample here without the hovering pressure from sales associates that other stores insist on. When I buy perfume, I buy it from Ulta because I appreciate their relaxed model. But it's the hair salon that I truly appreciate. So utterly annoyed and disappointed right now. Received a Babyliss Cold Brush for Christmas from my mother-in-law visiting from Virginia. This product is not what it describes so she left me the receipt in case I needed to return it before she flew home. I drove my two kids under three y/o from Vancouver to Jantzen Beach to be helped by a woman that ends up doing the return on my mother in laws credit card by mistake instead of issuing in store credit or cash back. She says there is nothing they can do for me because it wasn't a gift receipt. I told her it was a gift before the return even started. Here is their suggestion, "You could just call your mother-in-law and have her send you another gift card." That's really unacceptable customer service. I don't know my mother-in-law well enough to just call her back and ask for over $100 back. Plus ask her to stop everything in her busy day to purchase and send a gift card to me again for what was Ulta's mistake. I placed a online order on 6/19/21. Today is 6/27/21. A lipstick I purchased is now on sale. I called the customer service number to see if they could credit me the difference. They said they could not. I was told I would need to take my lipstick into my local store and return it, and than purchase a new one. 1- I have used the lipstick I received. When I do return it. It will have to be damaged out. That is a waste. 2 - Had I wanted to shop in store vs. online that is how I would have purchased in the first place. Not only am I wasting my time, but I am wasting the time of the store associate who has to help me with the return and repurchase of my item. While the staff at the Ulta are friendly, their skill level and expertise are lacking. What was meant to be a new look and some money well spent on my hair has turned into a nightmare for me. Little did I know that allowing Emily to. Lea h my hair was going to have the complete opposite effect. On Saturday March 14, I walked into Ulta to ask about a color correction and was assured by Nicole, the salon manager, that Emily would be the best person to assist me. I was advised that due to my length of hair and thickness it would be about $180-$225. Sounded good to me. I never spend much on my hair and figured it would be ok to splurge. I arrived at 11am on 3/30 and was early for my appointment. I heard Emily say she hadn't had coffee. I figured I was early and would go grab her one since she was about to give me the makeover I've been dying for. By the time I left the salon it was 7:20pm, I was hungry, embarrassed as I was sent home looking like a wet dog with samples of hair masks and anti snap treatments. I asked Emily how bad it was in her professional opinion and she said "This has never happened to me and I'm so sorry" she called her manager to ask if there was anything that could be done. I was not charged for the service. I am writing this as I am supposed to get another process done today. A protein treatment to hopefully save the hair I have left on my head and hopefully I won't need to shave my head. My hair has been the topic of conversation at work this week. In management meetings and while I'm working with advisors on how to treat customers well. It is embarrassing and has put a damper on my whole week and outlook. I know it's hair and it will grow back but I've been growing it out for over a year and a half, treating it well and trimming the ends. This is a nightmare! I will update this once I'm done and hopefully there is a light at the end of thus fried hair tunnel! They are the experts. I expected someone to say, we can't do this or let me get help or let's stop for now and have you come back if my hair was showing signs of irreparable damage. This is why I went to them in the first place as I didn't want to damage my hair :( last night I went back for a protein bond conditioner cut and color. My hair looks 1 million times better the car is great and hides the majority of the damage done to my hair the color splotchy and a couple of areas but is still decent enough for me to leave my home without having a hat. I have an appointment scheduled in another two weeks to come back and do a darker blue color to hopefully get it to saturate. I go get my hair done and then get to Ulta and wouldn't you know it the gal who was supposed to do my makeup was already working on two other people for a wedding. She stuttered and said she was already doing another wedding party (I had to be back at the venue to get dressed and go do pictures). Thank God for Dani she stepped in and totally saved the day. She even got me done before the other wedding party, when my 30th birthday came around no other person would do. Honestly Dani is so amazing and I also got my hair done including tip was 120. I walked in looking for something for scarring containing vitamin E. Knowing that Ulta tends to be a sea of products, I looked for a bit and then decided it was best to seek out someone who could help. I found them, nearly bumped into them and, before I could get out a word, they proceeded to eat their snacks and move to the front of the store where another 3 employees were having a riveting conversation about Facebook. :cue eye rolling: So, I looked and looked and looked and finally, after still not being offered any help, decided that I would rather go somewhere else, spend a little more money, but at least be treated as a valued customer. I am not crazy about this Ulta. I did sign up for the reward points, but whenever I try to use the coupons they send me, it's seems to be trouble. They are always out of the "free gift with purchase". I went in to buy some shampoo, and I had a free small "It's a ten" leave in conditioner. It's the sample size, maybe 1-2 ounces. I bring it up and give her the coupon, and she tries to charge me for it I presented her with the free gift coupon, and she said they are out. I told her they are not out, because I found the 1-2 ounce bottle. She said that bottle is a different bar code, so they can't give it to me for free. I say it's the exact same bottle/size/color, etc. She wasn't having it. She said you have to come in almost right away for them not to run out. Sound like a "reward" to you? Me neither. read more

My only regret is that I didn't everyone's names who helped me here. I will admit, I was not a fan of Ulta after going to the Beaverton one for years. It was always a mess, it was difficult to find prices on most things, and nobody was ever that friendly. However, I recently moved to Vancouver and decided to come here for the Brow Bar and also to ask if someone could help me create a day and night smokey eye. I spent 2 HOURS in here tonight. I was referred to Kyle as the master of smokey eye and he was amazing. He showed me step by step how to create a day and night look and showed me other tips and tricks. He created a gorgeous look and I walked away confident about my new skill and super happy with the results. There were other gals who helped here and there and I am sorry I didn't get their names... but overall this was just such a great experience. Also, this seems so silly... but in Beaverton it was such a hassle to use coupons even though that's the only time I ever went. But tonight I came in sans coupon (I keep forgetting to update my address) and it caused NO issues at all - I don't know if coupons are tied to my account or not, but I didn't even have to ask for the most recent coupon to be applied as well as my rewards. I ordered some stuff at Cascade Station and since I was in the area of this location, I figured I would just grab it so I didn't have to drive to CS. I didn't realize the items were an online only sale, so when I got to the register and found that out, I decided against it and that I'd just drive to Cascade Station. Without me asking or anything, the manager was really cool and let me buy them at the sale price. I really appreciate her. It was very nice of her to do that! I purchased a clinique foundation yesterday, which I realized was the same color as the one I had. I was trying to go lighter. I was having a hard time finding my perfect color. A lady named July introduced me to it Cosmetics CC cream.. so much better ! July did my whole face of makeup and made me look flawless. I ended up purchasing the cream and the powder !
