Five Stars Smell Like You Meant It Walking into Sephora at Clackamas Town Center, I'll admit, I used to be one of those guys who glanced at the prices and thought, "Yeah, okay... maybe not today." But let me tell you something, there's a difference between cheap and worth it, and this place lives in the "worth it" category. I'm not a rich man. I work hard, I save where I can, and when it's time to spend, I want it to actually matter. This is one of those places. Whether you're shopping for your wife, your girlfriend, or trying to impress someone you've got your eye on, this is where you go when you want to get it right. Fellas, listen up. Don't sleep on the cologne wall. Go in there and try things out. Take your time. Figure out what actually smells good on you. That's part of the experience. And here's a little truth I learned the hard way. The stuff you grab online for cheap is not the same. You spray it, it disappears in an hour and you're left wondering what you even paid for. The real deal from a place like this sticks with you. It lasts. It shows up before you do and stays after you leave. Now on the gift side of things, this place is a home run. Makeup brushes, skincare, all the things you might not fully understand but they definitely will. I've done the Christmas shopping here, I've brought buddies here who had no clue what to buy, and every single time we walked out feeling like we made the right call. There's something about giving a quality gift that hits different, and Sephora makes that easy. The staff deserves some respect too. Yeah, it can get busy, but I've always been able to get help when I needed it. Ask a question, tell them what you're looking for, and they'll point you in the right direction without making you feel like an idiot. That matters, especially if you're walking in not knowing a thing. Here's a cool little fact. Sephora started in France and built its name around letting customers actually try products before buying them. That whole hands on, test it yourself approach is why the store feels the way it does today. It's not just shopping, it's experimenting until you find something that fits you. And yeah, it's expensive. No way around that. This isn't your everyday run. This is a treat yourself or treat someone right kind of place. But the quality backs it up. The brushes last longer. The products perform better. You're not rebuying the same cheap thing every couple months. As a girl dad and a guy who tries to get it right more often than not, I'll say this. I don't know many women who wouldn't appreciate something from here. And if you're unsure, that's even more reason to go. You'll get help, you'll learn something, and you'll walk out with a win. I love the crew at this location! I have always received friendly and attentive suggestions and recommendations whenever I visited. It's conveniently located in the Clackamas Town Center Mall at first floor. You can always browse through it without having to purchase anything while checking out new products. Based on a staff recommendation, I wish I remembered her name, I finally gave Fenty Skin a chance and purchased Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor Mineral SPF 30 Refillable Moisturizer, $40 during my last visit on 9/13/24. I have been using it every day since and liking it so far since I only have to do one application because it's moisture sunscreen. I love the fact that it's mineral. My husband said he loves the smell of it the first time I had it on. The same size refill tube is $38 so not that much cheaper. I will update on how long it lasts since I use it at least once daily. read more

They hemmed & hawed trying to sell me something else that I didn't want instead of just telling me they didn't have any of the product I wanted in stock. The last two times I've come here have been extremely uncomfortable. Both times, I felt like I was automatically being treated as if I was stealing, even though I wasn't. The first time, I asked for help and instead of being assisted, I was followed around the store until I finally found what I needed. The second time was even worse. I understand that the staff may not be able to control everything, but the environment itself is overwhelming. There are so many bright fluorescent lights that it's a full on sensory overload it's hard to focus, and it makes the whole experience stressful and unpleasant. If it's possible, they should work on hiring a larger variety of employees, different ages. I'm older, and I wasn't wearing make up today but I was looking for something specific. All kinds of sales people standing around talking, but nobody helping me. Here's the thing about people my age when we are looking for something specific, we have money to spend. The young kids who come in and play around and mess up the make up don't have the same money that I do, so you might want to step up and help us. Caley (the assistant manager) is one of the most rude, disrespectful, and judgmental employees I have ever met. I have never met a Sephora employee like her, ever. And that says a lot since I'm a rouge member and frequent many Sephoras. She was extremely cold and had zero customer service experience. She also rolled her eyes at me for a simple question about shade matching. The role of an assistant manager is to listen, hear and help. She didn't do any of that. I don't know if she was having a bad day or if she's just like that in general, but someone who knows they have that much "power" of making decisions in the store as the assistant manager shouldn't abuse that power. Sephora shouldn't hire employees like her let alone let them in a role of any leadership. It is not welcoming to customers. Today might have been the first time I have a good experience at this location. We were here getting a color match for my sister and Drew went above and beyond helping us, taking the time to get the right shade and not pushing any products on us. My sister left very happy with the samples she got to try out and I left very impressed because usually none of the employees even look at you when you walk in. read more

I have been to Sephora a few times now and each experience has been pretty amazing. Every visit I experienced a different sales associate and all has been amazing. Great recommendations with personal testimonies and the last one was a call in to SarahBeth to ensure a product was in stock. Not only did she ensure there was one in stock, but, because it was the last item, she held it for me until I could get there to purchase it. Upon arrival to purchase it she also gave her personal recommendation on how well the product works for her. Very friendly and personable and made me feel valued and appreciated as a customer. The assistant manager here is one of the most unprofessional people I have ever met. Had an issue with buying a product that was empty, called right away to figure it out and left my information. I was told they would call me back in 48 hours, went in store to talk to them since I hadn't heard anything and she told me that I never called.... So I've waited over a week now called again and they said they had no information on the situation (guessing she didn't so her job, shocker)! Went in today and she said that there was nothing she could do, and that she tried to call me (have not received one call and even went back to check). Wouldn't give me her name or any information. Sephora, you complete me. This is a full size Sephora, not that crappy little kiosk in JC Penney's. They have all the good stuff here, carry all the lines I want, like Smashbox, Benefit, Bare Escentuals, and have every single product I am seeking. The sales people are intense, every time you turn around somebody is seeking to assist you. It's a little much, but I appreciate their drive. As a side note, why do the sales associates have the wonkiest, most unwearable for normal human beings makeup? Really, who wears electric blue eyeshadow these days? I'm not going to bugaloo and I don't wear unicorns and roller skates. If the sales people wore more normal makeup, I'd trust their opinions more. I always find stuff to buy when I go in there, they give you little samples that keep you coming back, and I'm a sucker for whimsical packaging. The $50 custom makeover is a great deal. My only issue is that it takes longer than 45 minutes so you're never actually in there for 45 minutes you're in there for a good hour and 15 minutes to really get a good custom makeover. you never know who you're going to get I had Brandon he was good. they have so many good products you could really end up spending $150 just to get all of the make up that was used during your makeover. My biggest suggestion would be the lighting the lighting sucks so you can really not get a gauge on which foundation to use read more

If I could give 0 stars I would but 1 star is for the nice people I came in contact with the other times I visited. I frequently go here with my friends since my school is close by. HOWEVER My friend and I were trying to find some makeup last time. One of the boxes of mascara was empty and a worker assumed it was my friend saying things like, "It's weird how the box is empty... do you know what happened to it?!?" the worker kept staring at us and wouldn't leave us alone about it. *The worker from what I remember- looked white or Latino, kind of short around 5'4 and had long wavy dark hair. Her makeup was done pretty extreme Anyway, After my friend got angry and sick of her as she followed her around less than two feet apart- my friend left feeling extremely horrible! *one worker did say bye and thank you for being kind* Then the worker watching her every move until she left, came over to me. She said in the rudest tone, "I think your friend left!" giving me such a rude smirk...like she was expecting me to leave or something! I still wanted to look for my eyeliner! After that, a mall security guard was brought in and I felt so so SOO uncomfortable. After leaving to ask my friend if she was ok, I went back to sephora feeling very frustrated. I asked the girl for her name and apparently they're "not allowed to give that information." Mind you, the security guards were all GONE when I came back! I then told her that I was watching my friend and she did not take ANYTHING! all she said in reply was, "I wasn't assuming anything" in her irritating smile again. After that I was DONE with Sephora. As a woman going into the middle of my life she treated me with such respect and had all and more of the knowledge I could ever have asked for. She even wrote everything down for me that my brain could not absorb. I have searched hi and low for someone like this and there is no other person I would want to help me. After months of working an average of 70 hours a week, I finally took a moment to observe the reflection in the mirror and thought "wtf happened to you?" I looked like I'd just woken up from a coma (sans the sleeping part). A lot of damage repair needs to be done ... stat!- I need a C&C, a mask for my poor pores, some R&R, and omg! Eye bags! The first and most dead giveaway sign of aging! My current eye gel is obviously not doing its job and my eye bags have prevailed. I usually purchase my beauty products from Nordstrom but decided to check out Sephora. Before cruising the store, I approached an associate and asked her for a good eye gel recommendation and described to her what I was looking for - something lightweight and effective against undereye circles and fatigue eyes. She led me to a few aisles down and recommended the Lotus Eye Gel by Fresh ($48; http://www.sephora.com/lotus-eye-gel-P54100?skuId=718270). After a brief discussion, she offered me a sample then grabbed a sample-sized container from the bunch. Before she filled the container with some products from the tester, I asked her for their return policy. She told me all products are returnable, even used, if not completely satisfied. Sold. I wanted to see if there were other eye gel options so she led me to a wall that displayed their best selling beauty products. She showed me a few other options, which included the one I was using at the time. I tested different ones on the back of my hand, talked to her briefly about them before committing to the 1st recommendation. The other ones felt too heavy. I went into clackamas sephora like I usually do ( have been a customer for years) to buy my bare minerals powder. I figured, like always, I would look around at the other brands to just browse. I went over to benefit ( a line I used to use) and noticed their new foundation. I was intrigued, and of course an employee came over to see if I had questions and asked if I wanted to match to my face color. I told her I was not sure because I was not too comfortable with the almost $40 price tag for foundation. Still, I talked to the apparently "benefit rep" about the foundation, and when I told her about my budget she looked at me like some dirty peasant. So I left that side of the store to go purchase my almost $40 powder. (which I routinely purchase from sephora). When checking out I was asked if they could make me a sample of anything, so I thought it would be smart to try that foundation, so I said sure and thank you. She led me to another lady who started making me a sample. This lady began to tell me my skin was basically garbage (in a very rude way) and had no personality what so ever. I could tell she did not want to make me a sample. My younger sister (only 11) bought a benefit concealer, and I asked if she could show my sister how to better apply to cover her acne. We came back later because they were doing a promotion for benefit cosmetics, and my sister really wanted to spin the wheel they had going. So I caved and said sure and we went. Of course the rude lady comes over to the booth and asks me if I was back to collect more free samples in the rudest way possible like I was mooching off of sephora. the same store I have invested hundreds to thousands, and the same store I have been a loyal customer for years. I was shocked and pissed. But it became worse when I saw her talking about me in the corner to the older "benefit rep". that is when I left. I am so pissed I cannot even stand it. I spent around $70 that day in sephora, only to be treated like complete scum. Whatever you do, avoid the older "benefit rep" or the lady in the gold sparkle converse. So, I'm a Sephora junkie (I have one of those congratulations, you have spent too much money here, let's give you more stuff so you can spend even more types of accounts), but I almost never go to stores because I actually don't like people doting on me. I just like to get what I want and e-check out with ALL THOSE FREE SAMPLES and free thingies. But the other day, I received a box from Sephora and my mom was in town. She tried on a product I bought and fell in love with it and asked me to take her to Sephora so she could buy it. So we went, and it turned out that it was an online only product. The sales people were so nice that they let us know we could order it with free shipping right there, but also pointed out some similar items in case she didn't want to wait. My mom had a field day. She got her bows done, played with products, and had at least 5 doting beauty professionals (despite it being a busy night) who all made her feel like a star. Excellent customer service and I know my mom did not feel pressured to buy, felt lovely and was very happy to be doted on. read more

My experiences at this Sephora have been a major letdown lately. It really seems like the employees are bored beyond belief, yet not so bored that they would want to help customers. It is obvious that they are avoiding their customers because, you know, they might actually want some help. I think all the good sales associates left to go to the downtown store. Sad for me because I miss them. They were actually happy to help and made the Sephora experience fun. Too bad downtown p-town parking is such a nightmare. I have yet to visit that store. I love Sephora. This location specifically is my go to because it's close to home and work, and everyone that works there is just plain amazing. I'm not a newbie to loving makeup, high end make up at that, but always found myself shopping at Mac and sometimes Ulta...until a good friend put me on to a the perks to shopping with Sephora. 1. Become a beauty insider (rewards account) and shop away...they have 3 tiers and of course the higher the tier the higher the perks. (Free makeup classes, sales, special invites to buy new products before others can, and unlimited custom makeovers) 2. Customer service is amazing. The girls here know me by name which i truly appreciate. Need to return something? It's like returning at Nordstrom here, no hassle. Have questions or want recommendations, the employees here love to educate and you're never a bother. Want to try a product out? I usually have no issues taking a couple samples home. There is one employee in particular who makes sure to repeat herself A LOT that she will only give a 3 day sample which is why I reduced a star because she made me feel as if I was trying to rob the store as a free loader at one point. That woman however IS a guru at skin care education so she's great to speak with. Anyways, I love this location and shop here about every 1-2 weeks it's one of the best places on earth. read more

I called them just before Christmas to see if the had a perfume sample I wanted to purchase for Christmas. They were extremely helpful and polite. The offered to place multiple items on hold for me so when I arrived at the store I would be able to choose from their multiple options. I thought that was very considerate. You don't usually get that kind of service, at least in my experience. I arrived at the store and they remembered me calling. Not only did they immediately assist me, but they stood by and assisted me in choosing which sample to buy. Just so you are aware this was a $65 dollar purchase so they extra assistance was really appreciated. It also should be known that it was moderately busy, and I still had the advice from 3 employees! The road to bankruptcy is paved with high-end beauty products... I went to my first VIB event last night where you're offered an exclusive look at seasonal products, snacks and a fat 20% coupon to use (for you AND A FRIEND). So I went. The entrance was nice, there were small smoothie samples and chocolate (Andes mints). There were also name tags. Ummmm. They had it set up like you were going into some sleek club, I guess. I don't go to clubs (especially the sleek ones) but it's what I picture in my mind. Anyway. The store seemed staffed more highly than usual but still not enough. I went in with one thing I definitely wanted to get (make up forever e/s #92) and an idea of something else I wanted (liquid foundation, normal skin, non-transferrable, cruelty free, in a nice package, not something that would spill or come out too fast, that wasn't the most expensive thing Sephora carries). I kind of hoped I could sit in the chair and have a little makeover done! I thought there'd be swatches of many products and we'd have an experience of making a perfect match for me. I had a sales associate help me with the foundation and we also talked about undereye concealers. We walked around to a few different areas but no chair! I got the foundation suggested which was pricey ($36?). I put the concealer in my basket but as I walked around, I thought to myself, "$24 for that? That's stupid." So I put it back. I found a concealer on my own for $6 less. That's a bowl of pho! Sephora has a great return policy. If you don't like it, bring it back. So if the one I chose sucks, I'll take it back. The sales associate was pretty slick. She told me how nice my skin was (it's alright, I guess...) and was extra friendly greasing my palm, "Oh you're so easy to put makeup on...." it reminded me of the Raisins waitresses from the South Park episode about Hooters. "All the other guys here are SO LAME but you seem really cool!" But to be fair, she also took what info I gave her and made a match. She used info about the lines I already like (Philosophy, Fresh) and didn't suggest something like Dior that isn't in line with those ethics models. I probably would have never looked at Tarte (what I purchased) without her suggestion. The place was pretty busy, there were lines. I had to wait about 5-10 minutes for fragrance samples and ended up just putting four large bottles in my basket to get samples when I was paying. I was pleased, at least, that the sales associate apologized. I apologized for bringing 4 giant bottles up to the register but explained I waited and waited and no one ever came through fragrance. She seemed genuinely apologetic. Maybe just more palm-greasing. But I felt like it was genuine. I successfully avoided buying any fragrance. A major feat for me. Especially with a coupon! I was disappointed with the selection of seasonal stuff. I didn't feel like I saw anything that wowed me or didn't feel recycled. Everything felt old. I looked at my "menu" (their word) when I left and all the "specials" were with the 20% discount, on Sephora brand products. So I feel like this event was a push for Sephora branded items, not the high end stuff. There were a lot of smart coupon moves being made. While in line, I saw moms and daughters (buying, in bulk, the largest Clinique moisturizer, with discount!), a girl who had one big bottle of Juicy Couture (20% off is probably cheaper than you can get it online for an authentic product). I kind of went for things I had been eyeing for awhile and just needed a little excuse. I just picked up a liquid foundation (Tarte Smooth Operator), concealer for dark circles (Make Up Forever HD), that eyeshadow, (#92) an empty DIY rollerball (I've wanted one forever, they're $10, refillable with anything you own!) and a small shower gel for $5. I didn't really get buck-wild but I dropped a bit. Cashwrap was a little bit of a letdown. The wait was kind of long. People were impatient. They were out of their promotional item (a reusable Sephora bag/tote) but I got four fragrance samples (and I love that they never give you any shit about asking for samples, it's like you're expected to ask for samples) and they were handing out these cute little sample bags that had Sephora lip gloss and about 5 high end samples. I love samples. Would I go again? Probably not. The coupon is nice but you can use the coupon anytime between Thursday (the event) and Sunday. read more

I'll start by saying I don't look like the type of person who might shop at Sephora, I'm over weight, covered in tattoos, my clothes aren't particularly posh, and I'm bearded. All that said, I do shop there a few times a year to buy my skin care. I already feel uneasy inside the store so you could imagine my horror when a sales associate yells across a busy store (at me) "Sir you know you have feces in your beard right?!". My face went flush and I was embarrassed to say the least. She was trying to push a new beard tonic or oil but it seemed to me like she was trying to embarrass me. I left without giving them my $200 for face wash, toner, and moisturizer and won't be back. I know they work in the suburbs and city people are probably scary to them but learn some manners. read more

I'm not one to know anything about makeup I went in with a few questions and to look for a perfume and anything else that caught me eye. The ladies in there were extremely helpful. One woman looked around the whole store to help me find a lip liner that matched a lipstick that I already have. Another woman help me search for the perfect perfume and I fell in love and ended up buying two. This was an amazing experience especially for somebody who never goes to the store and had a lot of preconceive notion's about what shopping in a make up store was like. I wish I caught the names of the ladies helping me. Thank you so much to them! I also accidentally picked up the wrong product when checking out, so I had to go back the next day. Wonderful selection and knowledgeable staff - you lose a star because they are not very friendly - helpful yes, but definitely unfriendly, if you can understand that difference. The people that work at Sephora are nice and I had received a broken eye shadow that I ordered online they were more than happy to help me replace it with no questions asked. They have a great perfume selection and I love looking at all the little travel sized items at the checkout. First, they get points for their return policy! Always courteous. That said, here is my problem. I am a senior women and I look my age, 75. When I came in asking for a makeup that would not enhance my wrinkles the sales person proceeded to apply a thick coat of make up that made me look like I was wearing a mask. Not good. My mother needed makeup for an upcoming wedding and hadn't worn any for decades due to allergies. What to do? After researching several allergy friendly product lines on the internet, we printed out a list and came to Sephora. Due to Mom's allergies, she couldn't even enter the store because of the perfumes and other scents within--she was asthmatic within moments. So she went back out onto the mall while I went in. Roxi greeted me and I explained the situation, handing her a list of some of the products I had found online. She graciously removed her brush belt and other gear that she couldn't take out of the store and queried my mother on her preferences. We went back and forth into and out of the store while Roxi sampled various concealers, blushes, lipsticks and eye shadows and brought them out to Mom to test them for her skin type and preferences. In a short time we had gathered all the products that we needed--including a few alternates--and all without endangering Mom's fragile health. At no time did Roxi try to upsell me on anything, and she knew the ins and outs of each of the three or four product lines I had selected so that we could mix and match at will. She advised me of the store's return policy as well. When I inquired about makeup palettes she said that the store had recently discontinued them and offered an acceptable work-around. Additionally to speed things along, Roxi arranged for me to check out using their online credit card gadget with another equally courteous gentleman representative so I wouldn't have to wait in line at the register. The customer service here is top drawer! Sephora seems to have every cosmetic and signature scent in abundance, in an efficient, compact space that nevertheless has a lot of room to move about. The extremely clean and well-lit store is thoughtfully laid out and everything is accessible, with plenty of testers and applicators close at hand. Mirrors everywhere of course. Even though I'm male and don't wear makeup, I've seen the department store competition and usually powder and product smears are everywhere, spills are commonplace and glass/chrome is not well maintained. Sephora is spotless. The only downside? Prices are high--no doubt due to the high-end specialty product they carry--so if you're on a budget be careful and plan ahead if possible. I was not and didn't and we'll likely return what she doesn't use for the wedding...we could buy a LOT of groceries with the proceeds. But I don't have to worry about loading anyone into an ambulance, so it balances pretty well. The products she wore to test with didn't cause any allergic reactions, so I can attest to their safety. Good stuff sold here. Sephora clientele is pretty attractive as well. Not sure if they were checking me out or just looking to see if I noticed them, but it's a fun place to people watch. And this was around 1PM on a Tuesday. Highly recommended, even if you have severe allergies and can't go into the store! Just be sure to bring a wing(wo)man to assist and they'll take care of you. Seriously worst Sephora to go ever!! They only have one cashier and a long line. The person on the cash wrap had no idea what she was doing. I tried to do a simple exchange and she was unable to do it. Never coming here again. I will go downtown read more
