Towels were smelling mildewy, and of course they are also cheap ones! Also, they told me that they had a plumbing problem, and the floor became nasty one time over the summer. The manager was the one who was rude to me and speaking about me. She's going to read it and write it off. And I'm sure the next time I come in there it will be the same thing. Maybe she was having a bad day but the way she treated me I felt absolutely belittled and treated like I was going to take it. She wouldn't even let me try to match it to my hair. I was very nervous as I've never had my eyebrows waxed for fear of having them done too thin. I made an appointment online with Courtney B for a wax. Well...I order some products online and received my order. Two days later, I received another duplicate order, which I didn't order. I called Ulta immediately for return instructions. I was told to take it back to my local store. I am disabled and no longer drive. I told them that. I asked for a free return label and for them to have ups to pick it up. Ulta did not! Another call. I was then told to keep the package and I would not be charged. I was. Then, I wrote them about the matter. All I can say is mehhh. The last 2 times I have gone into this store there is NO ONE to be found to offer help. None in site. I had come in there within a week after my last visit hoping surely by then they would have had the Too Faced product back in stock....nope still nothing. Not only this the way I was treated when I came into the store was almost like walking past high school girls gossiping in school. I made a comment to my friend and one of the employees working on a NYX display mocked me. The only assistance that I received was from a salon associate. Unacceptable, staff unprofessional. As far as the shopping is concerned, staff is super nice and helpful. Some of their recommendations are hit or miss, but it's expected. As far as the salon - I've had a few salon visits there and overall they were okay, but a little expensive for what they were. The hair dye and toner washes out pretty quickly or just starts to look sad really fast. The haircuts and styles I normally requested were pretty basic....nothing hard, so I was happy. But the last time I visited, I wanted a totally different haircut that made me look younger and I got the complete opposite. When she was done, I couldn't get out of the salon fast enough to go cry in my car. I cried and wore a hat for about a week before I found another Salon to fix my hair. My hair was a little past my shoulders and after the haircut I was left with a homely, tired bowl haircut that made me look 10 years older. After a few days of hats, tears, and angry outbursts- I called the salon; the manager was very nice, understanding, and accommodating- he refunded my money right away. I have thick, frizzy hair and I know it can be challenging to cut. I was upset that my haircut came out bad, but I was utterly more upset because I wish the stylist could have communicated with me more, I wish she didn't turn me around to cut my hair, and I wish she would have been forth right if she was not comfortable with cutting my type of hair. read more

I came to this Ulta with high expectations for what the stylists could do. I had been once before to the one at home (In Virginia Beach) and had an excellent experience there, which is why I drove all the way to Roanoke from Blacksburg for this haircut. When I got there for my appointment, my stylist was working on another person. It was clear that she wouldn't be done anytime soon; she glanced up at me briefly and when I said I had an appointment, she asked me to come back in about 45 minutes. I walked around the mall and came back when she asked me to. I ended up waiting over an hour for her to finish with the girl she had been working on when I first arrived. At this point, I was a little miffed. I requested a discount because I'd waited so long for my appointment, and the manager, Cecil, graciously obliged. If he hadn't given me the discount, I would have immediately walked out and gotten my hair cut somewhere else. I wish he hadn't given me the discount. By the end of the appointment, I had cried twice about how bad my hair looked. Although my stylist, Jasmine, did a good job with the color and with most of my haircut, she completely botched my bangs, cutting them about an inch and a half shorter than I wanted them (I wanted Zooey Deschanel bangs and ended up with Betty Page bangs). The bangs were also very uneven, but there was no real way to fix them because they were already so ridiculously short. She called over the other stylist to help her, but even she could only soften the damage done to my hair by the original stylist. This was also four hours after my appointment was supposed to start, which is an absurd amount of time for a Cut & Color for a bob. Final verdict? No discount given to me by the salon could have made this haircut worth it. And Jasmine, if you're reading this, please err on the side of caution the next time you're cutting someone's bangs. If someone's hair isn't short enough, that's easy enough to fix, but there's no immediate way to make a client's hair longer if you cut off too much. read more

That was a one off with a then cosmetologist that was extremely rude and condescending to me over the phone. Everyone at the Ulta at Valley View with this exception has been kind and helpful. I went to this store to use my Ulta gift card that I had been given for my birthday. I got this one pallet for 15 usd and i didn't like it. One the price was too expensive for the quality of the pallet and it came with a sponge brush, I tried to use it and it was ok but then again I got it from Ulta and I expect to get better quality things! I got a different pallet from Walmart a few weeks earlier for the same price and it was way better! The formula the quality everything! And it actually came with a decent brush! I have VERY pale skin, with freckles, and I came to ulta after work to get color matched for a foundation. Now, I was ready to spend some big ass bucks on GOOD foundation. Ugh. Will I ever find A good blowout in Roanoke? This was the second place I've tried. I made an appointment and arrived early but the stylist was running about 12 minutes late. What was supposed to take in 30 minutes took her an hour. And I paid $27 plus tip for a really not great blowout. I would pay double that for a really really good blowout. And to add insult to injury the girl didn't mind insulting my hair as part of her sales tactic to sell me all of the products in their store. I really did not appreciate that part as I did not come to get sold on their products, I came for a blowout. This is the worst customer service experience ever. I used to buy all my makeup products from here but will never buy from this company again. I was charged for 9 items from the store two days ago for $130. When I got home only 8 of them were in my bag.
