Once again another Ulta visit. By now I have been to plenty of Ulta locations and more or less each location is the same as well as service. No horror stories with any staff but nothing stellar either. Just folks doing their jobs and doing their thing... no fault or criticism when I say this. But while Ulta isn't quite new and fresh anymore... or a novelty let's say I am far, far from done with product exploration that these locations have. I am continuing to explore in getting brands I don't normally purchase and overall it's been a fun journey. On my visit here I did get a brand I have gotten before... a deodorant item to be specific and the brand was Every Man Jack. What caught me was that they have a Sea Salt fragrance I was eager to try and purchased it. So far it's been very enjoyable. The deodorant protection is there and working well and the sea salt fragrance is quite pleasant. Nothing too perfumed and yes... it does remind me trips to the ocean or on a particular day, Puget Sound. So this was a very good purchase. Some other items from this brand it seemed like the deodorant gave out later in the day but I have not encountered that here with this particular item. So very happy with this purchase. read more

This Ulta Hair salon is amazing. I've seen 2 stylist: Jade and Spades. Both are wonderful and Spades is amazing. Twice she's cut my hair, and each time it was exactly what I wanted, exactly like the picture. Ive gotten so many compliments on my hair and I make sure that it's known that this is Spades' work. She kept checking on me to make sure I was liking what she was doing and made me feel so comfortable. Love her and love this salon. read more

The lady with the blonde curly hair just giving us attitude just seem she didn't enjoy working there. she didn't give me information about the app when I was struggling and I had to ask my sister About it. My sisters cashier was very helpful and kind She has ginger hair and seemed very friendly. But my cashier She seemed very bothered, and I feel like Ulta is a company where most employees are very happy and I feel welcoming, but this visit was not let's do better. read more

After a 10-day hike in Mt. Rainier I deserve myself a pamper and a shopping! So went off to this closest location from Packwood and I am glad I did. I need a lipstick! I need a good cleanser. And I am eyeing on Florence by Mills also, I just need to be on my happy place next to mountain. And I am glad that I was able to achieve my goals in this location. I was greeted upon entering. My haggard face don't care about those judgmental eyes. Lol. I found my BareMinerals lipstick here which I put in my Ulta app cart for long time now. I'm the happiest when I finally get myself on the Florence products and they got more stuffs here than the one in Ulta stores in Hawaii. The staffs were so helpful as well and they make sure that my queries are taken care of. The two girls on the cashier are both the friendliest too. Love 'em! Happiest bandit when I went out, that's for sure. And oh, took me almost an hour inside and bandit are just in the car waiting for me. He's just sleeping peacefully with mouth wide open. Mt. Be very careful when booking your hair appointment at Ulta South Hill. Today was my third visit to this salon with a specific stylist. The first visit was extremely lengthy due to the stylist talking and being very distracted. (My hair turned out good.) The second visit was for my daughter. Same situation, the stylist talked so much and was very distracted. When we got home my daughters hair was very uneven. Thinking that the stylist was just having an off day when she cut my daughters hair. I booked again for today and upon my arrival the stylist was calling me to tell me she was running 20 min behind on her appts. I sat in the salon waiting for her to finish the client before me. When 50 minutes passed and she still wasn't finished I got up and left. If you value your time I would book at neighboring salon. read more

This store is hit or miss with customer service. As a black woman living in Puyallup, I frequent many businesses in the area and I don't always feel welcomed or a warm feeling when I'm spending my hard earned money here. Sometimes I can find an employee with great customer service, who wants to help and other times it feels like they want to know why I'm in the store in the first place. I visited this store to pick up some items for a friends birthday. When I went to check out, I was asked if I wanted to save 20% by applying for a credit card. I figured, "sure, why not?" and applied. The cashier was training another employee at the time. She handed me the credit card pamphlet but indicated that it wasn't approved and that I would get a letter in the mail. A month or so later I was contacted regarding some fraudulent activity on a credit card from a company I didn't recognize, I thought it was a phishing call so I ignored it, then I received a bill from Ulta Beauty, I don't recall receiving a card, but someone made a purchase. I'll refrain from pointing fingers or placing blame, but it seems pretty suspicious for a card a wasn't approved for. Oddly enough, another card was applied for in my name at Kohl's (there just happens to be a Kohl's in the same parking lot, coincidence?), it was declined because I already have a card from there, thank goodness! Be careful when applying for a card at that store! I don't know what they are able to see, but I may have some damage control to tend to. I went in to look for the right foundation for me because I was interested in a certain brand and asked for help and the lady told me I was able to do it myself and can test them on myself because you know, the last thing she wanted to do was to help me. I booked an appointment for a Keratin Complex smoothing treatment and my hair color was ruined by the process because it was the wrong product for my hair. In the past, I've always had the original blond formula, but this salon uses the PBO formula (Personalized Blow Out). At no time during my consultation was I told the process would change my hair color, and yet on the back of the product bottle it clearly states those with color treated hair could see a "shift" in their color. My bright dimensional blonde was turned straw yellow. The staff knew this was a possibility but never told me. Thankfully I was issued a 50% discount considering that I now have pay my colorist (not at ULTA) to fix my hair (fingers crossed) - Leaving town in a few days and this was the last thing I needed! read more

By far one of the BEST Ulta I've been to. I came in on their grand opening day after seeing all the signs on the streets and was so excited to see they finally opened up a store closer to me. This review is for my most recent trip there. I went in mainly just to buy Ahava body wash and ended up at the Benefit brow counter. The arch specialist Sam was AMAZING! She explained to me the whole process and didn't pressure me in any way to purchase items. One of the associates I met the first day during their grand opening even remembered me and came by to chat. This is possibly by far the best Ulta service I have ever been to! I've been back a couple times and the staff there are all very sweet and helpful. They do not hover and even better, they're attentive. The only thing I can complain about is their extremely low stock on Zoya nail polishes. read more

I went to Ulta in South Hill, Wa to get my eyebrows done. I have gotten them done at this location for years. The service was the same as usual. But whenever she put the aloe on my eyebrows she asked me if that "felt better" and my eyebrows stung immediately. This indicated that she knew that she had accidentally ripped off some skin on my eyelid. I got in my car and looked at my eyebrows and noticed a large amount of skin on the top both my eyelids taken off, I called Ulta and told them about what happened and also asked is this normal and what should I do to relieve the pain and promote healing. They gave me a simple sorry and then told me to put on Neosporin. They never once asked how they could fix their mistake for me, and they lacked empathy in their response. I've already given this ULTA a good review but I just went again last Friday and I was so happy with how nicely staffed they were! The Clinique vendor was very nice and helpful - she helped me pick out a new lipstick and I love it! I think it was also two of the managers who helped me pick out a new mousse and I am loving that too! Also have to shout out the person at the register who was also super great and got me through the line quickly. Thank you for your friendly customer service and great product suggestions! I should mention just one thing....I initially came in to see if I could get a walk-in brow wax and almost every time I'm in there is no one there for Benefit or if there is someone they say they can't do walk-in appointments but I know they are supposed to be alternating their books to allow for walk-in's. ULTA is great. I recently just started using make-up and have been in and out of Sephora before as well and at this point I think make-up stores are kind of similar but I noticed ULTA has a lot more options to choose from for hair care. I really focus on my hair when I can and I am so glad to have found the product called "Not Your Mothers, Way To Grow Hair". I did some research online to find ways to grow my hair faster [since my incident of chopping off more than half of my dead hair from bleaching]. I have been using for about 2 months now and it isn't rapid in result like Rapunzel's length but definitely getting longer than natural speed. I noticed they have a hair salon in the back as well and might even check it out later on. I went on a small shopping spree yesterday at ULTA and finally joined the crowd for buying the oh so popular "Naked" palette series. I got the 2nd one. Later that night, my friend went to Sephora and wanted to buy the 3rd one but were sold out and I chuckled to myself saying, "Well ULTA had a few in stock". Good for you ULTA. I'm in love with my hair!! I have never done coloring that isn't dying my graying hair back to natural browns, but wanted to try to go red. Bre took the time to really listen to the colors I wanted and she made what I thought was impossible happen!! My husband of 20 years reaction was "Wow you look amazing!! Smoking hot!" A customer at my work referred me to ulta to get a haircut. I was hoping to get an item off my bucket list crossed off by going from long hair to a pixie cut.. so I got scheduled with Sam.. she was a super nice and I immediately felt comfortable with her doing my hair.. everyone in the salon was nice, and occasionally yelling out chop day!! Because there were quite a bit of hair cuts going on.. hilarious.. now she does charge $52 an hour.. that is fine because I was wanting something not to cheap for getting a pixie.. but they were going to reschedule a trimming in 3 weeks and wanted to charge the same amount.. ehh not to thrilled about that price for a trimming.. Today I had a embarrassing experience at this location when I decided to use mfc coupons I had the three cashiers there look at me in horror it seemed like because I was going to use 4 coupons.. I would give this store 0 stars if I can.... here's what happened at my visit and I had to go through corporate and they are just as bad too cuz they said they would call me back and give me a refund or fix the issue with 24-48 hours and I haven't received anything yet and its been 3 weeks... She attempted to call the manager but the manager was rude and wouldn't offer her a solution to the problem. The guest claims she didn't have money to spend on the service to begin with and was trying to treat herself but felt undervalued as a guest and lied to. She would like this situation to be fixed. Prefers a refund. She doesn't want to go back to the Salon. Would feel uncomfortable going back. $100 for tone. Stylist wasn't transparent about the prices (is what she tried to explain to the Manager) Gave her a quote after she had already bleached her hair and guest said she's never spent $500 on a Bleach. Manager says that's what we charge for a Color corrector. Manager was defensive and rude. The stylist told her that they did all of these extra things on top of toning and bleaching her hair. She went detail by detail. Basically, told her that's how much they charge and she apologizes for the experience and it's just the way it is. Toner didn't cover the roots. When she blew dry her hair she told her it's okay because it still looks good, trying to make it sound like it was okay. People don't tip stylists and people are rude. At the end she told her that it took 7 hours and it's going to be $700 for the service. Estimated $350-$400 online. Charge per half hour. When she was getting ready to leave is when she said it was $700. The problem the transparency of the pricing and the defensiveness of the Manager. Found her to be unprofessional, and Manager basically told her she is wrong. read more

I only go here for my hair care! Customer service is fantastic! And the hair stylists really do listen to what you want and can help decipher solutions to your hair problems. Taylor and Keani are my go to girls. My hair always turns out wonderful. I tend to get compliments as I'm heading to the door. Keani is great with little tips on how to style your hair too. She told me what she was doing and why which gives me little tid bits on what to do at home. These girls are excited about hair and I will never let anyone else touch my head. read more

I got my hair done here today. I was super excited going in. I have curly hair and I showed her about 10 pictures of my goal color. And even tones and high lights that I did NOT want. I asked if my curls could survive the bleaching and she promised that all would be ok. I told her everything I've done to my hair and she was still confident she could get me to my desired color. Not only is my blonde the exact tone I told her I was trying to get away from, she highlighted from the root when I wanted it to start about 2 inches down. So the color is the epitome of what I didn't want. To make matters worse my hair is STRAIGHT. MY CURLS ARE COMPLETELY GONE. I've spent the whole night crying. Under no circumstance is the cost of Ulta's Salon justified. First of all, why do they have several levels of stylists & several price points of stylists? Also, what customer would call for an appointment and ask to have their hair cut by a less experienced stylist? No one that's who, but at Ulta's prices I can see why someone would. So the lady next to me pays $37 for her hair cut with her low level stylist but because my hair cut is with a higher level stylist I'll pay $67. Well, it is with a master stylist after all. I can't even say that without laughing. I've had my hair cut by the lowest level and the highest level stylist here and one of the best haircuts I got was from the lowest level stylist but when I called 6 weeks later she wasn't working there any longer. That happens here, a lot. I use to go to Chad but I refuse to pay those ridiculous fees ever again, esp. since he raised his prices, again. Also, I've tried to get help in the store for make-up other than Benefit or Clinique but no one was ever around or if they were they could not/would not properly help me answer any questions. They can't even point me in the right direction. The employees that are hired by Ulta are not beauty product savvy. They don't even know what's in the store or where. They weren't hired for their product knowledge and that makes me mad because for the type of store it is and for what they charge Ulta should have makeup consultants available that know their stuff. They would find some way to charge for it though. Ulta also needs employees that can help with the beauty appliances and hair products as well. The salon people only recommend the hair products they are using at that time, weather it's what you need or not. Basically it's like Beauty Costco, you are on your own, but with price hikes instead of discounts. They don't give out samples here either. I think I've received one from the facial lady because she was drumming up business handing out her cards. I took her card and asked if she had a sample for sensitive skin and she found a little packet in her drawer of hundreds. I've been given one little foundation sample from the Benefit Bar one time, even though I've made purchases of a little to a whole lot. I've asked at checked out for samples and have been told no, that I'd have to buy something that comes with a free gift. They are suppose to promote the brands of products they carry by sampling but they don't. I've been told by the Benefit employees to buy my foundation online because they never get any in the store, Why can't they order it for me so I don't have to pay the shipping? And why don't they carry it, it's one of the most popular of the Benefit foundations? I've received special member freebies in my email, like a free lip stick or mascara, but when I go in to claim it they never have the freebie in. read more

Then mentioned I should trim or I'll have small breakage and I said ya that's fine. After the long 5 hours of almost no conversation painful brushing and the quick 5 min hair trim she handed me the bill which she did not mention that the "trim" was Additional $75. Love my stylist Taylor!!! The first time I went to her she cut my hair exactly as the picture I showed her everybody loved my hair including myself. The second time it was a hair emergency sorry to say that I did go to a different salon and got the worst haircut ever. I called up to ulta and Taylor was there and she was willing to fix my hair (on short notice, same day ). She is a miracle worker my hair was Blended in completely, thinned out in the right places and she fixed the right side of my hair that was buzzed really short with weird long pieces hanging down....it was bad. I am so grateful and after I looked in the mirror I just wanted to give her a hug, which she gave me anyways Thanks Taylor, and I will be back I learned my lesson....lol read more
