I got my hair done by Caelan. They were great. I had to get it redone since my hair had highlights previously and I was getting a gloss so some parts weren't as jet black as I wanted. Another one star review for "corporate," and their bot-like response to my review. Perhaps I wasn't clear that the mask policy wasn't the issue, it was the UNPROFESSIONAL and NASTY treatment the customer received by the "manager." This woman had a legitimate medical issue with a legitimate exemption and her treatment was beyond disgusting and there was simply no excuse for her to repeatedly demean and belittle this customer as well as violate her privacy. There are ways to handle situations such as these--this wasn't the way, and frankly the fact that corporate backs this behavior is shocking and sickening. Please hire people who can think critically, and who actually possess customer service skills, both at the retail and corporate levels, and can at least fake professionalism and compassion. I was in line at Ulta this week. I witnessed the store manager being very rude and disrespectful to a customer. It bothered me very much that I felt this woman was discriminating again him. He was of ethnicity and she seemed to be denying him because of it. He was there with his family and his little son had to witness it. Store is clean, staff is friendly and shelves are well stocked. I popped in on Friday to get my hair styled for an event I was going to that night and had a pleasant experience. I've gotten my makeup done at another Ulta and enjoyed that experience so I thought I'd give this Ulta's salon a try. My stylist was Lindsey. Lindsey was super friendly and took the time to really style my hair nicely. She asked me how many hours I was looking to get out of my style and what kind of event I was going to and then proceeded to style my hair accordingly. Meaning she made my curls a little tighter as I have very fine hair and they would loosen up as the evening went on. She used enough product to hold them but not anything that made my hair crunchy. The prices for services are fair. My review is strictly based on my experience getting a style so I can't speak to any of the other salon services. I'd come back for a style or blow out for sure. There's not a lot of beauty supply of Sephora quality in the area, but then there were cheers of glee when word of Ulta came. I was there for the grand opening last week, waited a good hour in line for their grand opening specials, and was pleased to see how many people showed up to do so as well. One of the grand opening specials was a free service up to a $41 value, including a wash and blow dry, or a facial service. I specifically asked if I could use this towards a highlight service, and they said yes. They also told me that all new customers receive a 30% discount, which was awesome. I made an appointment there and then, because that was a deal I couldn't pass up. I returned excited for my hair service, and met with a sweet, and personable stylist named Beth. We did a short consult on my hair, and I was nervous about changing over to their colour after I've been doing Aveda for quite some time. She was reassuring that she would give me tiny highlights, and would colour match so I wouldn't have obvious grow-outs. She was done quickly, and the highlights were much lighter than I wanted, and larger sections than I asked for, despite me asking specifically for something different. There's no way to undo bleach lifting of natural colour, so I knew it was futile to even try. Once I got to the front to pay, they wouldn't let me use the coupon the way they told me they would on grand opening. They made a big scene about it, and adjusted my bill a mere few dollars less, but nowhere near the $41 I was told I could use towards highlights. I feel like Ulta was deceptive, scheming, or possibly grossly undertrained. If the clerk who told me wrong information did so to more people than just me, they are really going to have a large problem on their hands. I will absolutely not be returning, because I am unhappy with the result, which I will have to pay for to fix, and also unhappy with their staff who are unhelpful and either manipulative or uninformed. Been a platinum member for years as well as my mother. I stop by Ulta sometimes weekly between this location and Lisbon. After my last 4 visits especially yesterday, I am really considering cutting ties with Ulta completely. How embarrassing is it to constantly hand out coupons to you shoppers and then have your cashiers not pay attention to how they ring customers out. The coupons Ulta hands out per shopper is so inconsistent. I receive 0 coupons through mail yet my mother gets them monthly. No big deal, but not great. But tell me why everything on sale is never straight forward, even the manager gets confused? Last couple visits I was unable to use my coupons or cashier ignored my rewards or cared which coupons I have... and yes I always start with what I have for coupons. I ask to apply and when I get my receipt, I always get the same response.... "Oh, well I would have to return it all ask for approval and then re ring you out." So my coupons I've wasted so far, trying not to be difficult as the worker always seems frustrated is 20%, $3.50, and $10. These are what drives us to come in. Well yesterday really did it for me, when I bring my mother in for Mother's Day and neither of us could use our $10 rewards after I was told by the cashier It did come off my total price. I also had other coupons, but was told I could pick one to use. I asked to apply my rewards but again was ignored. When given the total I had to ask again to apply my rewards as I was tired of just letting it go with my pricing. We even added my things to my total to be able to use the $10 off coupon. While eating lunch next door I looked at my receipt and saw only thing applied was my $6 reward. I went back this time and wanted to know where my coupon went. The response I got, without any apology for being lied to was "well, you must have picked premium items and those don't count..." WTF does that even mean? I spent more money on something nice so a coupon can't be applied?! Where they do that at. Why didn't she pay attention when we asked as cash out "yes it took the coupon", and if it didn't why wasn't my other coupon applied. Why was my coupon not returned to me if not used? I can't trust in the cash out process when it is this much of head ache every time. Not only that, why does everyone in the store stare like everyone is stealing. If anything I feel like yall ripping of your loyal customers with these coupons ya can't even use or force you to use a credit card you don't want to. I gave it four times for a better experience and what a major fail this store made. Back to Sephora. read more

Went here recently for hair / makeup for myself and three other family members. They had told us they would have 4 stylists help us all at the same time so we could be done in 2 hours. Turns out they only had 3 people (one guy was walking around doing nothing so not sure why he couldn't help)...they didn't even start one of us until 1.5 hours in... For me, my stylist was really nice but also really slow. If I didn't like something, learned my lesson to tell her ASAP because by the time she's done she would have spent so much time doing the work that you'd never get out of there for your event if you asked to restart. I showed her a picture of the hair I wanted and ended up getting something pretty different that looked like I had knobs in my hair like a Star Wars character. And on makeup, I told her nude and natural but ended with a darker lip that just looked so odd with the color of my dress (which I had shown her too). She also suggested I try a blue and silver eye as my dress was blue - thank god I had her restart the eye because I looked like an alien despite her reassuring me that it would look subtle. I scheduled a cut and color over the phone. The first time it was canceled because the stylist had come down with the flu. Okay, it happens, no problem. I rescheduled, the day before my appointment I got a call... canceled. They wanted to know why I scheduled an appointment when they weren't opened... um because that's the time I was given??? Okay, fine, I rescheduled. Day before my appointment I get a call saying they had to Cancel because the lost power at their salon. I give up. If you are looking to buy makeup then go but if you're just trying to get a haircut then run far away. read more

As I approached this cashier said nothing, as I put my item on the counter she told me that she was waiting for the lady who was still shopping. I've been an Ulta customer for years but never took advantage of the services. I must admit I was skeptical. I took the plunge and got a cut and style. Beth was phenomenal!! She listened to where I wanted to take my style and made suggestions. She's a collaborative stylist. She recommended a product for my hair but awaited my permission prior to application. I subsequently purchased the product! The even showed me how to blow dry my baby fine hair to achieve best volume. Something no stylist has ever taken the time to do. My hair looked great! Beth will be my Ulta stylist going forward. Ask for Beth, you won't be disappointed. On a another note: a ran into a friend of mine who used the Brow Bar-her brows were amazing afterward! In terms of shopping for makeup, this place isn't bad at all. The shelves are always stocked, employees always ask if you need help, and they are great with coupons and rewards, etc. However, the salon is where this place has it downfall. For the last 10 or so years I had been doing my own hair after getting a bad cheap haircut and I was terrified to go back to a salon but I really wanted to switch things up and go blonde, I knew someone who went to ulta and her hair was great so I decided to give it a go. I sat in Jessica's chair and explained that I wanted my medium brown hair to be blonder, with either a shadow root or some type of balayage. I don't know if she just didn't know how to do either or if she genuinely thought those weren't good methods of lightening hair but she basically told me "no I think I'm gonna do an ombré type of thing". I figured she's the professional so she knows best. I was wrong. I left with orangey yellow hair from my ears down along with a band of brass wrapped around my head, no blending whatsoever. I figured since it was only the first time I went I should try to lighten it again. The second time I go here I'm with Jessica again, trying to lighten my hair even more. I specifically asked her to blend out that brassy band as it was my biggest concern. She said "don't worry there won't be any band I can promise you that". I could hear her discussing with a coworker over which volume she use on my hair, 20 or 30. Both of them were like "eh fuck it do the thirty". I have done my hair myself for years so I know 30 volume is A LOT for hair to handle especially on my already bleached and damaged hair which, although yellow and brassy as hell, was considerably light already. I thought hm well maybe they use a different brand and since they're professionals they know what's best. Wrong again. I was at the salon for upwards of 8 hours that day with pounds of bleach and foils in my hair hurting my neck. By the time she took them out my hair was blonde alright, and also yellow even though she toned it twice, and also had a bright orange stripe around my head at ear level, the one thing she assured me would be no problem. I watched her struggle to comb out my hair that now resembled wet noodles (aka absolutely fried and past the point of return) and was coming out in chunks. I have never tried so hard to hold back tears as I did that day in Jessica's chair. I tried not to lose my composure as everyone around me kept saying how amazing it looked while yellow noodles of my hair kept falling to the floor around me. I lost probably a third of my hair from my ears down. It's been 4 months and my hair is the worst health it has been my whole life. Other professionals have told me the only solution is to cut off about 12" or more (up to my ears) to get rid of the damaged part, or wait for it to grow out (will take years) so you can imagine I'm a little upset about it. She also talked me into getting this wax hair treatment to help my hair stop falling out which made my hair feel absolutely disgusting for the next 5 days (she told me not to wash it for that long to prevent more damage). It's literally putting melted wax on your hair to seal the hair cuticle. Was expensive, didn't help my hair at all, felt disgusting after. Every hair professional I've told about this is completely shocked and has never heard of it before. In total I spent over $1000 and 16 hours of my time (was there 8 hours both times) to completely ruin my hair for the next few years. I'm miserable. At least she was nice, except she did go out for smoke breaks multiple times each day and then would come back to wash my hair and I had to smell the fresh cigarette smell right next to my nose as she leaned over me to wash my hair. The online appointment booking doesn't seem to coincide with the salon's schedule. My daughter had an appointment at 1230, we checked in at noon and waited 15 minutes past her scheduled time and may have waited longer if I didn't say anything to the lady at the register. The stylist was still working on another customer, unaware that she had an appointment at noon. So she basically rushed through my child's hair. The junior cut and style cost $31 BUT she couldn't curl my daughter's hair because she had no time. So she braided it which I could have done myself. Awful experience and will not be returning again or scheduling anything online. Would not recommend this salon either because the lady who checked me in was one who was not having a good day. I was excited to go get my hair done today after almost a year of not having it cut. I showed the stylist, Angela, that I preferred a light ashy brown that would not look harsh against my pale complexion. She disagreed and I received almost jet black hair. Not only was my hair close to black but the color was not evenly distributed. I have spots where my natural hair color of red is showing through. Not only that but because of my thick hair I requested layers, I now have hair which all one layer that is to my shoulders. The stylist clearly does not know what she is doing. Honestly, I feel bad giving this store such a bad rating because the associates are always helpful and seem to genuinely be interested in makeup. However, management needs to step it up. I was treated poorly by a manager when making a return without a receipt on a gift. Ulta's policy is to give whatever the lowest selling price for a product was- in this case, $9 for a $40 foundation that I genuinely liked that was simply the wrong shade. After being offered this, the manager finally mentioned I could have just made an even exchange. I went and got color matched by an associate, who handed me a box and told me to make the exchange up front. Stupidly, I did not check the foundation, made the exchange, and left...only to find, when I got home, that the foundation was used, including the concealer pot at the top. I'm not going back to this location because I honestly do not want to deal with a manager who treated me so poorly. read more

My daughter went to this salon (over a year ago) and asked for "Rose gold" color and came home with a bright red color. We ended up buying "oops" hair color remover to remove the color. She didn't want to go back to have them fix it and didn't ask them to fix it. I think she was too embarrassed and they all told her how good it looked.
