Can't say enough about my exemplary experience today. Not only did a staff member know exactly where an obscure product was, they walked us to it and the others within the brand. I had some damaged product from an online order and some returns and the manager, Jennifer, went above and beyond to help me out. I always feel bad going into a store for an issue with an online order but the calls and chat seem to be hit or miss, especially with Ulta. I've had so many bad experiences, I deleted my rewards account with Ulta. Jennifer really made a sour experience better and made my bad day better, too! I had to sign up for rewards in order to do the return and I might keep it thanks to Jennifer. Guess I was wearying my invisibility cloak. I wandered the store looking for two items that were listed in stock at the store. During my 20 minutes there, I was crouching down and looking for the right color foundation with my current bottle in hand to match. I was also wandering around looking for the brand of mascara I used - again, said it was in stock online at this location. Regardless if they were there or not, I was overlooked by 3 different store staffers. I LITERALLY could have filled my pockets with products and walked out - I was INVISIBLE. I didn't do that, but instead left - holding my foundation bottle in one hand, walked right by 2 different staff people who studiously ignored me. It was a game by that point - I looked right at them and they looked over my head. Weird. For me, Ulta is "a-ok". I like Sephora's brands & selection better but admit that Ulta is generally much more convenient than trying to run into the mall especially if I need just a few things. This location is brand new - only open about a week and is a little smaller than the Brookfield version. That doesn't mean you'll lack for choice though - there are hair products galore, cosmetics, tools and all the bath & body you could possibly want. Not a ton of staff present when I visited but the one I encountered was helpful. To me, the key benefit of shopping at Ulta is convenience as they pretty much have everything you could find at Walgreens/CVS, a salon store and a decent make-up counter. This location is okay. My last trip I was with a friend trying to assit her in finding a lipstick for her wedding(a big deal!!). We waited around as we tried different shades out hoping that someone would approach us and offer their help for this specific occasion. As time passed and people moved in and out we had to track someone down to help us. Once we get her attention she was very helpful and immediately pointed us in the direction we needed to be in. However, she didn't stick around or ask if she could help with anything else after that so had to keep finding her and asking her. In the end we got what we came for and we were both happy. On other trips I don't typically need/ask for help and am able to grab what I need (unless its sold out-which typically happens with my NYX eyeliner). The store is kept clean, orderly and in good shape. The cashiers are typically less than friendly. But the location is great so I will keep going! read more

What a fun store. There is almost anything and everything you can think of relating to cosmetics. Are they the cheapest with everything, no, but it is a great place for gifts for anyone and gifts for yourself. I got color matched for some foundation and the sales girl was super sweet and no pushy at all, what a relief. I have to say this location once impressed me. But last couple times I went in there they are having less products stocked and others that I have zero interest in. However I do like their hair salon part and eyebrow bar, which I never knew about it until I saw girls sitting there getting brows done. I asked the lady and she said I have to book an appointment first. So next time I needed my brows done I did called for an appointment. I'm so tired of getting my brows thread so I wanted to try waxing and tinting them. Turned out great! I got compliments from coworkers. I get my hair cuts from there too. They're not so bad. I like that they're carrying more Korean skincare products such as Peach and Lily. I was sad that they stop carrying this drugstore skincare product called "Nip+Fab". I love that they carried both name brands and drugstore brands. So you can bounce back and forth. When I go to Walgreens and target, I remind myself to wait to get the product from ulta because you earn points. Your points adds up as money so you can get money off your next item. I'm not a high maintenance girl and in some ways I find a store like this a little much, but on the other hand I'm with Joanna in that it's nice to have everything in one place. They have their own line of makeup that's always on sale and as someone who doesn't wear much and does some playing around, I like that I can get some stuff cheap and try it before moving up and committing big money to other stuff. They seem a lot less pretentious than Sephora, but when I went here after getting the brush off at Sephora, while I was given better attention, the girl kind of tried to railroad me into the first thing she showed me. For me, a place like this is nice because I can try so many things and get more educated, so when she didn't give me that chance I was a little disappointed. Twice I've been in with coupons they've sent to me and twice they've been out of the product. Both times they extended the coupon and I can still go back and get said things, but that necessitates another trip and I find that annoying. So just an A-OK for now. Maybe they're figuring out "par" levels and such with the new store and these hiccups will even out. I found the last one of a powder foundation. The bottom of the container was cracked and some was leaking out. I pointed it out to the cashier and she checked to see if they had more in back. It was in fact the last one. The manager came over and I told her I would still purchase it for a discount. She refused and said I would have to pay full price. I told her I was not about to pay full price for a broken product. She rolled her eyes and said it didn't matter because if I don't buy it they mark it as damaged and throw it away. They'd rather throw away a product versus providing me with the product I drove all the way out there to get. Ended up going to target. I went the next day and asked someone for the items. She had no clue what I was talking about so she asked someone else and she's like, "yeah no we don't have that, sometimes online doesn't match up with what we have in store." And walked off. I go look around myself and find not one but both items I wanted. Here's the real bummer.... the sale prices online were cheaper than in store. I then go ask the cashier if they price match their OWN website. She tells me no. She asks someone else to make sure. She says no. I go to put the items back and asked someone else why they don't price match their OWN website... and that I could show her that I had it in my online cart and were cheaper. She looks at my phone...ON THEIR WEBSITE...and says "awe, no we don't price match. That's so weird. Maybe they got it wrong. That's dumb...." BRUUUUUUUH. Seriously, that's why retail in dying.... I'll shop online... somewhere else. I called customer service 3x. The first girl literally was as dumb as a bag of rocks. I had to just hang up on her. Ulta is great. But not their salon. At least the stylist that did my hair... it was just awful. All I needed was an easy haircut; layers and 2-3 inches snipped. I have long hair. She barely put layers is my hair and didn't even cut ONE inch off. After she washed my hair which btw she left me there at the hair washing station with soap still IN my hair to go help a shopping customer for at least 5 minutes. Not exaggerating. Anyway, I had to tell her to cut more off! She helped a shopping customer out twice, just left me there. It wasn't a quick "oh it's over there". It was that she left and talked to them for awhile. I was in a hurry which I mentioned in my appointment. So now I have this big bulk at the end when I hold my hair together if you get what I'm saying. Wasted money and crappy hair. I booked a highlighting appointment with Erin and I liked at first but a day later I realized I was a little underwhelmed so I called and got back right in the next day and she redid FOR FREE and I loved it! She was happy to re do it and made it obvious she cares about the customers happiness. I enjoy shopping at Ulta but was extremely disappointed by their salon services. All I needed was an inch off the bottom and some layers added in for shape. My absolute favorite part of a haircut is the blowout portion. I looooooooooove the feeling I get from getting a great haircut and blowout. I saw Sara (who is the salon manager...it said so on her card) at the Ulta at Mayfair Collection. She did an ok job with the cut but the blowout was absolutely AWFUL. It felt like my hair was still wet. I had to RE-BLOW DRY my hair when I got home. The blow dry looked like I did a bad job of blowdrying my own hair. I have never experienced such a horrible blowout. She also hit my face with the handle of the round brush while she was drying my hair. I don't think she noticed because she never apologized. I used to go to a salon in downtown Milwaukee and loved it but it was getting too expensive at $50, and the parking sucked. I tried Ulta because it was closer to home and there was a 25% off sale for new customers. I scheduled my appointment online. It looked like there were two stylists who were around $35 and then Sara was around $50 (I think the exact price was $49.50). Sara was the only one available according to the computer so I scheduled with her and figured that with the 25% off, I was getting a deal. There is NO WAY I would EVER pay $50 for the services I received at Ulta. I will NOT be back as a salon customer. read more

What poor customer service we experienced today at Ulta! When we went up to check out my daughter had a $10 off coupon that she received in the mail... That they would not honor because they said it expired. There was no expiration date on the coupon but the scan code wouldn't work so she said it was expired.From a customer service standpoint it was an opportunity for them to earn our business by honoring it since it wasn't clearly marked. The cashier simply said she couldn't do anything about it because it wouldn't scan. We should've asked for a manager because in all my years of working retail management there is always away for customer satisfaction. It just wasn't worth the hassle and it should have been her to prompt to get a manager not us to ask for one. She was more than willing to watch us walk out the door, like we did , and not purchase anything for a mere $10. In a world of online shopping and a multitude of places to purchase things... I simply told her that they don't just send out $10 off any purchase randomly. We spend a lot of money there and because of that it our rewards program generates nice coupons. But hey our money can be spent elsewhere and thank you anyway. She was fine with that and told us to have a good evening. Her honoring that coupon could have really going a long way in return business but instead It was the icing on the cake for me to no longer shop at Ulta. So many times I have gone there because of a special they're advertising and when I get there they're out of it. Classic case of baiting you into the store for a sale item that they have very little of. Along with all the coupons I receive with advertisements of free samples they never have left of those either. Today I was looking for a specific new foundation from IT cosmetics. The sales associate that was in the area asked me if I needed any help and I asked if they had that product. She said no that Sephora got it they didn't. While I appreciate her honesty I find it strange that she would advise me that her competitor is carrying the product instead of offering me an alternative. It sounds like management needs to do some training and understand that the key to any successful business is to provide an excellent customer experience for every person that walks in the door. I went in to find a new foundation, my old one was discontinued. I explained what I used to use and it's texture (I like a thicker cream, full coverage). The associate listened to me and asked more questions about my skin and sun exposure. She brought me exactly what I was looking for (IT brand) and matched my tone right away. She was very helpful and gave me a ton of great advice and wasn't pushy at all! I love the foundation and she helped me find a great mascara that worked for my weird lashes lol. The store has a good vibe, It's laid out well and everyone was nice. I didn't feel out of place because I wasn't super done up. I agree with the negative reviews on the salon portion of the store. I don't understand how Ulta gets away with charging salon prices for really amateur service results. I was super disappointed with my service. Lesson learned. It was so disappointing that I had wished I just asked my sister to curl my hair and save myself the $40. I really hate that I experienced a negative result but I'm trying to save the next girl from paying for a below average service. I went to the salon here and I had a great experience. I see that a couple people had a really bad experience with Sara, the salon manager, but she was wonderful with me! I have been having Lauren cut my hair for the last 4 years. When she moved downtown I tried several other stylists but never received the same quality of cut or color. I was very happy to find her again at the Ulta located in the Mayfair Collection. She does a great job with cut, color and styling of my hair. I have always taken her recommendations and have never been disappointed in the results. She really knows what she is doing. I've been to several Ulta stores around Wisconsin and they seem to be hit or miss depending on who's working that day. This was my first time visiting this location and I wasn't impressed. I was greeted upon walking in and asked if I needed help finding anything, so I appreciated that. Later when I was browsing, though, and had a question about something, the only employee to be found was mumbling to herself and walked right past me without saying a word. I ended up finding what I needed on my own and was standing in front of a few things reading the back of a product when that same mumbling employee from earlier literally grabbed something off of the shelf I was standing directly in front of without even so much as an "excuse me". She looked at it and quickly put it back, again without saying excuse me or even acknowledging me or the fact that I had been standing directly in front of what she grabbed. When I was ready to check out, of course this same girl ended up at the register. Since only one register was open I wasn't sure what side to go on. She pointed at the side she wanted me to go to without a word; didn't speak to me the entire time she was ringing up my items and of course she didn't even say "thank you".
