Everyone who works inside of the store is super nice and definitely helpful. I always feel very welcomed by the staff in the Ulta stores. I was there for a perfume release that unfortunately didn't really land with me. Instead, I spent some time testing a lot of recently dropped scents to find something that would likely align with my body chemistry better. The customer service isn't that good.Everyone seems to not know what they are doing. When asked for a product, it took a while since one worker decided to chat it up with another, then ask if they have the item then proceeded to actually find it. Also do not do pick up here. What happens if a child buys a Ulta item on the app and doesn't have an ID, and shows them proof from the app and email that they purchased that item. I think all Ulta's honestly should be running the same, so customers expect the same levels of knowledge instead of looking dumb sometimes, when a policy at 3 Ulta's isn't one in just one Ulta for some reason.Overall very few days, you'll experience nice workers but some are more just like mad that's there job it feels like. read more

I ordered an item online in order to pick up in the store. It was ready in a few minutes right at the front counter. The first thing I noticed was the bright lights and the size of the store! Then how beautiful the associates were at the counter. They were so elegant and dressed to the ninth! Either one of them could've been a model. Decided one day to browse around Ulta, as I was on the hunt for a super organic shampoo/conditioner. I wound up not finding what I needed, because Ulta really doesn't have a great selection of premium products. They have a lot of drug store brands and some boutique brands. Anyway, I was already there and decided to pick up some mascara. It's my favorite mascara (Monsieur Big by Lancôme) and I've been wearing it for years. I pair it with their primer and I have nice thick long lashes. Anyway, the salesperson came up to me and asked if I had used this new product, a mascara with a magnetic wand and magnetic mascara. It even sounds ridiculous. It's not like the fake eye lashes with magnetic glue... it's just mascara. why would anyone need magnetic mascara? I was super suspicious but he insisted I would love it. I bought the stupid thing and I absolutely hated it. It doesn't work. My lashes look tiny, even with primer. It's all a gimmick. I don't think the salesperson really ever used the product. I don't like being pressured into buying something, especially a lackluster product. The quality of the products and service here are just meh. read more

I am so happy this opened in Wethersfield! I had a hair appointment here and was very happy with the results. I had a cut and color done by Kyle, and he is great! He really knows his stuff, is personable and friendly, and did a great job. I highly recommend him if you want your hair to come out amazing!! This Ulta is decent, nothing to wow over but also not terrible. They did however seemed a little bit understaffed - no one checked in with me to see if I needed anything, and no one was as the counter to ring out customers for a few minutes. One thing that really stood out to me was the lack of handicap accessibility. No automatic doors, plus one was locked and the other one was very difficult and heavy to open especially if you are using a cane/crutches. But once there was someone at the counter she was very pleasant. Not sure if it is worth the trip out there, may continue to go to the one in Manchester. read more

This one's for the salon service. I recently went in for a cut and color at ulta for the first time and instantly regretted it. My hair has never looked so horrible in my life! I showed a reference photo and video of the exact style I wanted and chose the color. I asked for black with dark red, and I walked out with black and bright orange hair with a stained forehead, neck and tee shirt. I had to spend hours getting the stains out and I had to throw out my shirt. My hair was not cut the way I wanted and the layers were uneven to the point where I had to wear a hat wherever I went. It was EMBARASSING. I just got my hair redyed and fixed up and my hairdresser said she's never seen such a bad haircut in her salon. I got a refund from ulta thankfully but my hair has to grow back now after that experience. read more

I made an appointment for a service for 12:45PM. They called me after 11:30AM that day asking to reschedule to 1:45PM. I explained I had an appointment after so unfortunately that is too late. They asked if 1PM was okay. I agreed. I got the Ulta a life early to explore concealers. At 12:49, as I already there, they called and said they can't until 1:30. As I previously stated I had an appointment so I had to cancel. The woman who called was borderline rude about it, no Im sorry lets try to make this right. Online showed they have 3 people available at that time so I do not understand. Horrible customer service. Would never try again as I have heard so many similar stories. read more

I was so excited when I saw that Ulta was opening in Wethersfield but have been disappointed each time I've gone; I've gone both right when they open in the morning and on a weekend afternoon, on all occasions I have not been asked if I've wanted assistance (and many of the associates don't seem approachable...if you can find one on the floor) I may have been greeted once but other than that be prepared for lack of customer service. I also feel that this Ulta isn't as stocked and doesn't carry some of the items carried at the other Ulta stores I typically go to (primarily Avon or Waterford; occasionally Manchester). It's too bad that the service here is sub par and probably below industry standard - I've wanted assistance selecting a new shade of foundation and color and had to use my best judgement in shade selection. Next time I need to replace these items, I will head to another Ulta or Sephora to get this type of service and attention. Although I feel this store doesn't have the same stock of some items that other Ulta stores carry, I am usually able to get MOST of what I'm looking for. Recently I've been shopping Ulta online to save myself the hassle and frustration of coming to the store. Update: Willing to up my original two star rating to three stars. The past couple of times in the store I was welcomed by an employee which made the experience a little better and made it feel like I could approach someone if I needed help. read more

I've never had a salon service so I'm commenting only regarding my shopping there. Every time I go in I'm greeted. I get asked if I need help find anything more than once during my shopping. If I have any questions the associates are more than happy to help me. Shout out to the associate in MAC. Every time I go here the customer service is always disappointing. Ulta is a great store with a lot of great products. However, at this location no one ever asks me if I need assistance and they have seemed pretty unapproachable. I have to go far out of my way if I would like to be helped, and only sometimes can they answer my questions. One instance was particularly bad. The cashier was ringing me out and I realized one of the products I was buying was half empty. It had been in the "tester" display spot even though it was not labeled the tester product. The only other one they had was the one that was labeled "tester" (which she could not sell me). This one was unused because it had been swapped with the other. I told her that I wasn't going to buy the product because it was half empty and used as the tester, and she kept insisting that it wasn't the tester and it was fine to purchase. I was fully aware it was not labeled the tester product, but she couldn't seem to understand that it had still been used as one and that I did not want to buy a used product. She became very rude and impatient with me. read more

I walked in to find a new foundation. The store was empty, maybe three or four customers in all. All the staff were completely disregarding the customers and conversing with each other. I spent about 10 minutes browsing through the shelves trying to figure out which foundation will suit me best and sort of wondering if at least one of the sales girls will stop talking and comes over to offer her assistance, but no such luck. They were too busy talking and playing with their phones. Well, that was my first and the last time in this sorry excuse for a store. I need to give a shout out to Maria at the brow bar. I used to go to the brow bar at the Ulta in Plainville, but I lived in Rocky Hill so when this opened it was sooo much more convenient. The first time I came to this ulta I didn't have an appointment but Maria was so gracious and took me right in anyway. She always has a smile on her face, took the time to map my brows, and thoroughly explained the products that would be best for me. I think I literally left with a smile on my face. Her positive attitude and upbeat spirit is the reason that I now drive all the way from West Hartford to Wethersfield just for my brows. I have shopped at this Ulta twice. Both times I asked for help and received it. Today a slim young man gave me info about a product and was very helpful and kind. The previous time a young woman helped me pick out makeup for myself. I almost felt as if I interrupted her from something. Although she did her job, she made it short and without pleasantries.
