DO NOT GET THE ULTA CREDIT CARD!!! The customer service is BEYOND TERRIBLE and the WORST experience you will ever have. I have been shopping at Ulta and a rewards member since I was about 11 years old, and I have been using the credit card for the past 2 years. Earlier this year, Ulta Beauty had my address wrong so I wasn't receiving any paper statements and I wasn't able to check my balance online because my account would never let me log in or reset my password. I had an $8 purchase on my card that I had forgotten about, and I hadn't received any statements about in the mail. 4 months go by, that $8 turned into $200. When I called customer care to explain the situation, she was extremely rude, talked to me like I was stupid, and acted like it was MY fault they had my address wrong. Mind you up until that point I had made every payment on time for the 2 years I had this card because I would call to make the payment the next day. And since I had forgotten this ONE time, I now had to pay $200 for an $8 purchase. Customer service did NOTHING to assist me except update my address. After being talked to like I was an idiot for about an hour, I finally gave in and told them I would just pay the full balance. They processed the payment over the phone, but conveniently neglected to tell me ANOTHER fee was going to be applied to my account since it was after the 1st of the month. So I was under the impression that the FULL balance was paid because that's what we agreed on over the phone, when I secretly had ANOTHER fee applied to my account. I went two months thinking the entire balance was paid, only to get another statement a few days ago saying I had $87 worth of fees. I called customer care AGAIN, to explain the situation, and after talking to two different people the "best" they said could do was waive half of the balance. I was tired of arguing to people who clearly couldn't care less, so I agreed to it, paid the rest of the balance, and then told them to close my account. This has been by far the WORST experience I've had with any customer service. They were rude, unhelpful, and tried to place the blame on me for their own shortcomings. They did not acknowledge the frustration of my situation, or make even a SLIGHT effort to make my experience a little better. I had been a loyal customer/rewards member for 12 years, and a loyal credit card user for over 2 years, and they treated me like utter dog shit. I will now be going to Target or Sephora for all of my beauty needs. I've been a loyal Ulta customer for years long enough to know when something is off. This Christmas visit, however, was a lesson in how to make customers feel unwelcome for no reason at all. While my family and I were doing the apparently highly suspicious activity of smelling perfume, a male associate decided to drop all professionalism. He was openly rude and then took it a step further by telling another associate to "watch them," loud enough for us to hear. Because browsing fragrances in a beauty store is clearly grounds for suspicion. I understand the times we're in. I understand loss prevention. What I do not understand is being casually profiled and insinuated as thieves while doing exactly what customers are encouraged to do. It was ridiculous, uncalled for, and embarrassing. What made it especially disappointing is that this behavior came from someone who is himself a minority someone who should understand better than most how harmful and unnecessary these assumptions are. Instead, he chose to perpetuate the very behavior that drives customers away. I left Sephora because their experience declined, even though Ulta's selection is admittedly weaker. After this encounter, I'm questioning that decision. If the goal was to make longtime customers feel uncomfortable, disrespected, and judged during the holidays, then congratulations job done. I would say this is the mall of make-up stores with Nordstrom prices and Bed Bath and Beyond sales. It has everything from hemp lotions to organic, non-animal tested facial sponges infused with rose water. Needless to say there are so many options it's insane and you'll want to give yourself some time here to explore. I was referred here by a friend to come talk with a "specialist" about eye brow things. Stephanie, the Bare Minerals rep, helped me find exactly what I needed in the least expensive form, the best bang for your buck, and the highest quality with the highest cost. I actually ended up loving the Bare Minerals products themselves because of their cruelty free policy, somewhat affordable pricing, and wide variety of colors and shades. They also use all natural products, don't clog your pores and look pleasantly chic rather than over done like face paint at the fair. While I didn't actually end up buying anything here it was a great place for knowledge of variety of ingredient of products from the help of their customer service reps. The only reason I did not purchase was because I knew I could get better deals online and the check out line was huge. Parking is very pleasant here, though. There are tons of shops to indulge in around the area and the environment is clean and collective. I was really surprised to see the poor reviews as my visit this afternoon was nothing but pleasant and enjoyable. Really great customer service! And even got a few surprises on sale for myself and family! Her sales game was on point...but most important to me...NOT PUSHY (one of my pet peeves- especially as a former Sales Rep in the Corporate World...). The dark haired gal at the Brow bar helped me with questions about products and even taught me about Brow Lamination...huh..didn't know that was even a thing! Then another nice gal she had a cute hairdo and had really cute clear sandles - every time I saw her throughout the visit, she was helping someone. In closing, I really thought they did a great job and the manager called for Dee to come up to the register when things got crowded up front, so I disagree with the review that said this store wasn't taking care of customers. They sure did 'knock it out of the park' for me today, and I will be back soon. I just need to save up some money for next time...I was lucky today I got out of there without spending much more than $50.00, which is usually NOT the case!! Wilmington ULTA beauty is a life saver, all around! I'll start with the salon: the service is great! The employees are all knowledgeable, diligent in their work, and personable! They make you feel welcome and cared for, which is a big part of hair care! My mom gets her hair colored there by Gavin (who is AMAZING) and loves it! He even gave me a shampoo and blowout while I waited for her color to set! As always, it came out beautifully! On the store itself: unmatched! The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable for whatever it is that you need! They have so many all natural/cruelty free products now. I had an excellent shopping trip at Ulta. I browsed the store for over an hour figuring out what I wanted to purchase. I finally decided on a L'Oreal liquid lip, L'Oreal lash paradise mascara, essence eyeliner, and a wet n wild eye shadow palette. My checkout experience was nice. The cashier, Sydney, was very friendly! She also was very sweet and helpful when I noticed that one of the items I was purchasing had rung up incorrectly. She immediately called a manager over to have them make the change and was nice about it. For the longest time, every time I went into the store, it was a wreck. There was product all over the displays and you'd just have 5 containers open and thrown wherever. They're almost always out of stock. Even on items that aren't the "latest and greatest". Staff seems nice but I rarely interact with them beyond being offered a basket or paying. Actually, there's one lady who works in the skincare area who is always super friendly and willing to offer advice. Short of her, seems like most of their staff is just there for the paycheck. Last time I was in, they had started renovations and had a lot of new stuff on the shelves...still had some empty stock on the newer stuff. The Ulta in Wilmington is my favorite cosmetics store. Everyone is super helpful and friendly. I make an extra point to shop on the days I know Beth will be working. She has helped me so much with my Acne and love everything she recommended for me. Beth takes her time to show me options that will work. I don't ever feel pressured to buy everything at once and she is very generous with sampling products for me to try first. I wish all the beauty advisors were this patient and knowledgeable. Every time I go in, I am met with attitude by the stuck up employees who feel they are better than everyone else. Shelves are half empty and no one will check to see if what you're looking for is in the stock room or when it will be coming in. There is always a line and only one cashier helping customers, while one or two other employees are hanging out behind the checkout counter, ignoring the line while playing with their phones or pretending to be "working" on other things. I experienced pretty crappy customer service at this store several years ago, and vowed to never shop here again. I love Ulta but will never spend another dime at their Wilmington/Mayfaire location. I purchased a $30 item and when I got home I discovered it was not in my bag. I looked everywhere, in my car, purse, etc. It was obviously never placed in my bag - accident or not. I went to the store to tell them what had happened and to see if they could review the security tape to see if the item was placed in my bag. The lady at the counter had a major attitude and acted as if I was asking for her first born. She asked to look at my receipt to get the date and time, and said she would go to the back to review the footage. She walked away and came right back in less than 2-3 minutes. She informed me that I was wrong and the item was indeed placed in my bag. There is no way she had enough time to walk to the back, pull the footage, find the time of purchase, etc. She flat out lied. She could've handled things totally differently and not lost a customer. So I walked out and haven't stepped foot in the store since. And don't plan on it. I will order my beauty products online and pay extra shipping before I will shop here. I have ZERO tolerance for pissy attitudes, and crap customer service. read more

I have always loved coming into ulta, finding the products I want, with good customer service. Unfortunately this time the customer service I got really makes me not want to go in the store for awhile. I came in specifically looking for some products I wanted to try out, one the sales representatives got me and convinced me to try this product which I wasn't sold on but I figured let's give it a try. I will never let another representative get that close to my face again that works at ulta. My eyes/ skin are stupid sensitive, the representative said hers was as well. Needless to say one my eye was beyond irritated by were she put conclear on under my eye. And I do a better job than she did. Also when I was not impressed with the product and wanted to go back to the brand I really wanted to try the sales women seemed as almost got pissy because I didn't like the product she was trying to sell. She was not helpful at all in trying to find the right shade in the conclear I wanted for a different brand than she was selling. Y'all need to work on this. Hair salon experience was not good. As others have stated you get the impression that you will be serviced by top-notch hair stylists and look great afterwards. Not the case at all. I brought my teenager in for a wash, trim and blow out. Nothing too difficult or time consuming. But, afterwards, when we got home my daughter showed me a portion of her that was obviously uneven! We had to trim it at home and the next morning I called the corporate office to express my concern. I was personally contacted by a manager from the store who took issue with the fact that I "went over her head". Too bad. The focus should be on why I called corporate, not that I called corporate. Lousy service, is lousy service and based on these reviews and for the salon prices they charge, corporate should be made aware of the lackluster performance at any given location. read more

I went in at 730 to buy an eyebrow pencil and some cotton balls. I located my items and went up to the register to pay. The woman behind the register, Deja, was buy talking to another woman sorting items behind the register so I simply walked up and handed her my items. She started ringing them up without any hello or how are you. She did not ask if I was an ulta beauty rewards member and just said "phone number?" I gave her my number for my rewards and was adding my total in my head when I realized something was wrong. I looked and realized she charged me twice for the eyebrow pencil so I mentioned it to her. She just went on and voided one from the balance without even apologizing. At first I thought maybe I was just over reacting that she was so rude but even my roommate said she was rude. I have been a loyal customer for years but after tonight I cannot justify going back. I have worked in retail for the last 7 years so to be treated so rudely is not okay and she needs to be taught some customer service. read more
