I made an appointment for a blow out. This was the most expensive and worst blow out experience I've ever had. The most important issue is that the hair stylist didn't know how to use a barrel brush to add curls to the hair so she compensated for it by using a curling iron. Because of this she charged me for both a blow out and a hot tool hair styling. I've been getting blow outs every other month since 2016 from both Drybar and smaller local salons, and I have never been charged double for a blow out because they added curls/waves. Right now at Drybar you can get a Mai Thai blow out for $55 which looks exactly like the outcome of my hair at Ulta today. Ulta was $79, after tip this was about $100 (I don't even know why I tipped because she kept blowing air into my ear, kept brushing over my ear, her nails would slide onto my face, when she pulled on my hair she didn't apologize or say anything). When she first met me she was trying to up sell me on treatments, so maybe this is just an up selling tactic? Also, I arrived 5 minutes early for my appointment because it's the polite thing to do and the employees saw me but walked away without acknowledging me. read more

I have frequented this location over the years purely due to convenience as I'm in this area often. However, I am reconsidering being a patron of this location due to their blatant lack of customer service. I make it a point to make eye contact with the first employee I see when entering, but yet somehow am NEVER greeted. Many of the employees here are rude and rarely offer any assistance. As a customer, you notice these things and it's an instant turn off. The customers are the priority, so one would think it imperative ensure that translates to our experience at your store. I have been into the Woodhaven location 3 times, and the employees are totally rude!! They don't even speak to me whenever I've entered the store. Instead, they're too busy standing around, talking amongst themselves, and acting as though they are the ONLY store who carries overpriced beauty products. In retail, greeting ALL customers, is Lesson 101. Your employees need to drop their privileged attitudes, and give kind, friendly, customer service. This would have been a 2 Star review if it weren't for Emily. I made appointments for make-up lessons for myself and my 13 yo daughter, expecting to pay $30 each to get help picking out our best makeup and how to put it on and take care of our products/brushes. We showed and were told that we would, in fact, only be given tips and tricks. Say what? For $60, you're just going to talk to us? So I did what I HATE to do and I asked for the manager. She acted like I was crazy because they help with makeup everyday...for free! So she calls sweet little Emily over, who spends the next hour with us. I've never bought nice makeup, drugstore makeup was all I had ever used. Now I'm embarrassed by that, but I digress. My daughter left with Clinique foundation to go with her Benefit mascara she bought with Xmas money. I bought about $300 in makeup and feel the difference everyday. Emily was SO PATIENT AND HELPFUL. I hoped she would get a commission, but they don't work off commissions there. She turned our girl's night out into a fun, learning, super girly night out. Emily will have my business for life. Which means I'll have to give the Ulta store more chances and hopefully the rest of the staff aren't as difficult in the future. read more

Ulta shoppers beware!!! My wife bought a few products from Ulta and decided she needed to return. Brought the items to local Ulta store, with the original sales receipt and was told her return could not be processed without a phone number. She bought the items under her sister's phone number, it's a loyal program I guess. Anyway, she did not have her phone with her at the time to give the number. Sales associate at the register insisted she could not process the return without a phone number. Again, the original receipt for purchase she has with items for returns. Finally the sales associate offers to speak with a manager. The manager states the same thing, but says she will process the return. As my wife is asking questions on this trying to understand such a ridiculous return policy, the manager then says our return policy is on the receipt which states phone number. My wife says yes. It's also states if not bought with a phone number of record, the original sales receipt must be presented. Here is my sales receipt so I do not understand why I was told my return could not be processed. Simply dumbfounded about this. This was frustrating to say the least. Ulta has lost a shopper here. On a side note, the sakes associate and manager were not rude in this transaction, just not aware of their own store policy as it is written. read more

Do not. I repeat do not use the salon here to book a makeup appointment. Ever. I went in here today to look at makeup. I brought up that I don't really know how to do my eye makeup. They employee help me brought up a make up lessons for 30$ for a half hour. I thought great! Ohhh no. I was mistaken. The first look the makeup girl did was total crap. My 9 year old niece could do it better job. I literally though we were halfway done with it when she asked me how I liked it. I didn't was to be rude so I asked her if she could make it darker and make the makeup flick upward. She said it was hard to do that on my eye shape. I showed her it was possible by pulling out a picture of make up I had done in the past. And asked her to erase what she did and had her show me how to do that. The second time was better. Not the best but still at least it wasn't total crap like the first look. I asked my sister when I got home which side looked better, she chose mine. I honestly wouldn't have minded paying the 30$ for the second look. But I was charged 60$. Yes, I understand it is by the half hour and it look longer than a half an hour, but that is because the first look was honestly horrible. So horrible that I made her erase it. I honestly thought I would not be charged for the time on the first look because it was crap. I kind of feel ripped off. I don't think someone who is paying for lessons should have to pay for a hot mess of a look. read more

Couldn't love this store more! So many goodies! Yes it is pricey but that's quality. You will see and feel the difference from Target or CVS junk makeup/hair products. I see Shaundra for my eyebrows at the Benefit Bar and she is Amazing. A wiz with the wax and pencil. I never walk out less than fabulous. Same to be said about Ashley who does my hair. I have very long hair and she knows exactly what to do always. She's fantastic and I would recommend her to anyway. She is worth the price. I can't say enough good things about her! read more

Was completely ignored, the cashier completely ignored me while I was standing there waiting to ask a simple question. The Staff never utters a hello or a, "can I help you?" To it's African American patrons. They do not want our business and I shall not bother them anymore. read more

Workers are not helpful. They stare and follow you around the store. When you go to check out they act like you are an inconvenience to them. I will take my business to Allen Park or Taylor location where workers are better. read more

I'm only giving this 5 stars because of who my stylist was. If it wasn't for her, I would never go there. I see Courtney. She is clearly experienced and definitely stands out from the rest of the staff. I always thought the prices were a bit high and was always hesitant to go, but someone is always in her chair when I'm shopping and after seeing the rest of the staff I see why after seeing the rest of the salon staff. I'll be polite and just keep my comments to myself as I don't want to offend anyone, however I would suggest a lesson in fashion and how speaking tactfully goes a long way. Standing out by acting out or looking hideous isn't the way for positive attention as I did have to tell my girlfriends about the appearance of others and funny enough they all agreed and said Courtney was the only one to justify the prices. Courtney is always dressed trendy and makeup always so nice. Maybe the others are nice people however the talent isn't there with the others. Courtney always keeps it professional and I was especially pleasantly surprised to see she is also the only certified colorist which explains why the girl next to her was always asking her what she should mix when doing a color . I didn't like that she had to keep leaving to answer the phone, but no one else was, so she didn't have a choice. No team work from the others whatsoever. Will I return? Yes. Only to Courtney. However I did not like the check out system they have there, but that's not so thing to hold against your stylist. read more

I went into this store for a new blow dryer because mine had just gone out. I went in with damp hair and in normal street clothes. When I entered the building a "larger" gay man was by the front door with a blonde woman and they both and looked at me with a disgusted look. The obese man went on to whisper something into the blonde's ear and they both enjoyed a laugh at my expence. I almost walked out but I had a coupon for here and desperatley needed a good blow dryer. Anyways while looking at their selection I couldn't find help. Whenever I went up to someone for help they would look me up and down and inform me that it wasn't their department. Not even any girl in their little salon would help me out, instead all they wanted to do was gossip and give dirty looks. I ended up tearing up the coupon in utter disgust because nothing was worth the treatment I was getting. This isn't the first time the emplyee's here have done this to me. Every time i'm in there and ask a question I always get a dirty look and a smart-assed answer which always makes me regret giving this store buisness. I much much much rather pay $5-$20 extra in shipping and handling and just get everything online. I remember wanting a specific Sally Hansen nail polish and couldn't find it so I asked for help from almost everyone in that building and no one would help me and the store was dead!
