I use to love Ulta but then after I had a bad experience here with a sales associate I decided I would take my business else where. It's been at least 3 years since I've shopped here and I can say it's meh.... I like NYX and Mally Beauty which Ulta carries but everytime I come here looking for a specific color they seem to always be out of it. Their NYX display sometimes is a complete mess with things shoved every which way... Their sales people can be great and or down right rude or worse just pretend you don't exist...it all depends on who's working that day... I came in to look at a new hair dryer. I have a $15 crappy one from Wal-Mart or TJ Max which I think has seen better days and I think it may be frying my hair at the same time....I found about 2 dozen all priced from $25-$200 dollars. I tried to look for someone to help me but I couldn't find anyone. I'm not sure but I think I saw two people working the enire store so I decided it shouldn't be this hard to get someone to take my money....sorry Ulta....better luck next time....

The color is still vibrant after almost 6 weeks.

After years of highly questionable home hair dying, I found myself needing professional help in a hurry for a special event. I was completely honest about the mismash of products I had used, and instead of a lecture about home hair experimentation Tina went over my options and let me know up front it would be a long appointment and even after preparing me for the idea that I might not end up with exactly what I wanted - she managed to strip years of bad choices away and replace it with a gorgeous custom color while preserving more length than I thought would be possible. I wish I had thought to take before pics, because this transformation was nothing short of miraculous.

Update: the staff is super covid cautious, and it was such a relief to return to a salon as home dying is not always reliable. Sara is a wizard with vivid colors.

Ulta is having an awesome sale!

Today after wrestling foster dogs at our volunteer project my daughter and I stopped by Ulta. I usually have a pretty good experience but today I had the customer service experience from hell. I will be extremely frank with you, I have never received the level of customer service by one of the staff members. He was the rudest most over the top with the rudeness that I have ever experienced. When we arrived I asked a young man for assistance he looked annoyed and quickly found the product and all but threw it at me! I was taken aback but I said, "Thank you" and asked about the matching powder. He rudely responded in a snarky tone,"Well you are dark aren't you!" I said, "Well I don't think that's a match." His body language was over the top annoyed. He opened another powder tester that was empty and I clearly annoyed at this point said,"What's that supposed to show, an empty case!" He openly snarled and I reached my limit of abusive customer service behavior. I said, "Well thank you!" I walked away so disappointed and stood in the line. In the line I met the assistant manager Adriane? And I recounted my experience and she was very apologetic and she helped me find my colors and was so patient and provided me with great customer service. I got back in line to pay and finally our turn and as my daughter approached the register, the same rude man walked away from the register and picked up a few bags and placed them at the front of the store. I could not believe this, he went out of his way to get his last dig! Wow! Needless to say I ended up spending 80 + dollars at Ulta and I would not have spent a dime if It were for him. Perhaps some retraining is needed but I was throughly disappointed with my level of service and I had to let people know.

This is how much I spent in there horrible place.

After nearly a year of searching for the right stylist, I finally found my way to The Hair Bar--and…read morewhat an experience it turned out to be. For months, I combed through Yelp, Google, Apple Maps, and Instagram like it was my second job. I wasn't just scrolling; I was studying. Styles, cuts, colors, techniques, and, most importantly, the energy each stylist projected online. Many accounts went quiet for long stretches, which made it hard to trust whether they were truly active. But The Hair Bar stood out. Their content was consistent, their work spoke volumes, and their posts carried an energy that was hard to ignore. What also drew me in was knowing who was behind the operation. This isn't just another salon--it's the baby of a dedicated owner/operator who still works the business every day. She teaches, mentors, and pours her pride into the consistency and production of happy clients. She also makes it a point to attend workshops to stay current in her field and bring fresh techniques back to her team. That kind of leadership is rare; it multiplies her impact while creating a culture of growth and artistry that you can feel the moment you step inside. Booking was simple--no hoops to jump through. A few clicks on their Instagram link, select a date, time, and stylist, and I quickly received a text confirmation. We communicated easily to settle on the best time, which made the process smooth and stress-free. When I walked in, I was greeted with warmth right away. Purdy welcomed me and introduced me to Kylie, who was assisting Krystal. Kylie set the tone for an amazing experience, making me feel welcomed and cared for. Later, Purdy even jumped in to help blow dry my hair, and I loved seeing the effortless teamwork in action. It wasn't just professionalism; you could tell they genuinely enjoyed supporting one another, which gave the whole salon an uplifting, positive energy. And then there was Krystal. Her presence was everything I hoped for and more--her Instagram sparkle multiplied in person. It was my birthday month, and while I had walked in thinking I might only get a trim, I trusted her vision completely. That trust mattered, because everything I had admired on The Hair Bar's Instagram--every cut, every color, every style--was exactly what I wanted for myself. She explained how she would keep my length but add layers for movement, blend my greys while keeping the depth of my jet black, and add subtle lowlights to bring dimension and richness. She didn't just see my hair as it was--she saw what it could be. And then she delivered. From the shampoo and scalp massage to the cut, color, and finish, every step was handled with care and precision. The layers lightened my hair beautifully, the color blended seamlessly, and the lowlights gave my hair depth and life. I walked out feeling transformed, polished, and celebrated--not just because of how my hair looked, but because of the entire experience. The salon itself is stunning. Natural light pours in, giving the space an airy, open feel. The layout is clean and efficient, with modern decor that feels stylish yet welcoming. It's not cluttered or overwhelming--it's intentional, designed to make clients feel both comfortable and inspired. You can tell it's a woman-owned business, built with heart and thoughtfulness in every detail. Leaving The Hair Bar, I felt grateful I had taken my time to find them. This wasn't just another haircut; it was an experience that reminded me why trusting the right people with your hair is so important. Krystal and her team are not only talented, but they are current, collaborative, and truly invested in their craft. If you're looking for a salon that combines artistry, warmth, and professionalism, The Hair Bar is a destination worth finding. For me, it's no longer about traveling into the city--I've found my place right here.

I went in last week for a haircut by Laurel. I love my cut! While there we discussed color and…read morehighlights. Laurel walked me through what to expect and showed me samples depending on how my hair would lighten. I just returned from my appointment for root touch up and partial highlights. It's been a long time since I loved my hair. I love my new look! The highlights look natural and will help with maintenance. So glad I found Laurel!

I booked a Full Foils service online, which the salon's booking site clearly described as covering…read morethe entire head. I also submitted example hair color and cut photos through the booking site at the time of booking, which clearly show full-head highlights. During the appointment, the stylist, "Dallas" also verbally confirmed that I had specifically booked the Full (not "Partial") Foil service and agreed to provide it as booked. Despite this, I found out after the appointment, upon closer examination at home with hand mirrors, that the back and nape were not foiled at all, and that along the nape, the cut was uneven, choppy and didn't fall nicely. There was a very obvious, unattractive delineation between the highlighted and unlighted sections of the hair. This was especially obvious because the haircut was short and layered in the back. It became apparent to me that only areas that were immediately visible to me from the front, in the salon, had been foiled. The stylist was, therefore, dishonest about the service that he agreed to provide, and for which I was fully charged. Additionally, although I arrived early, I was forced to wait 30 minutes into my appointment slot while the stylist VERY slowly blow-dried another client's hair, with no explanation or apology for the delay. Despite this, I was very patient, polite and cooperative throughout the appointment. I politely contacted the salon, by email, within a few days after the appointment (well within their advertised 7-day adjustment window) and provided photos showing the incomplete color service. I didn't mention the haircut because I didn't want it further damaged and shortened if they offered to correct it. Their initial response was only a $20 refund offer, with no offer to finish the incomplete work. They also told me that I would need to drive to the salon (out of town for me) to collect the $20 refund. After several email follow-ups, the stylist eventually admitted to only providing "partial" foils and hesitantly issued a $140 electronic, partial refund to my original, credit card payment method. The process was unnecessarily slow, inconvenient and prolonged. Because of these delays, I was unable to schedule a correction appointment elsewhere in time for a holiday event that I was attending. The salon owner cited their independent stylist arrangement as limiting her ability to help with the issue, despite the salon's policy stating that they can override when necessary. The stylist, surprisingly, made a point of telling me not to book with him again in the future (as though I would), even though I was very polite, non-confrontational, and cooperative throughout my email communications and had done nothing wrong. I got the impression that he didn't like having to issue an honest refund and unprofessionally took it out on me. Takeaway for other clients: Carefully check the back of your hair (with two mirrors or photos) before leaving any appointment, especially for full foil services. Be prepared to advocate for yourself if something is missed, as resolution was not straightforward, correction appointments are not necessarily honored, and accurate and fair refunds are difficult. Be prepared for prolonged follow-up responses and to incur additional inconvenience and full-service expense to have incomplete services or unflattering results (at least from this particular stylist) corrected elsewhere. The post-service handling and overall experience, even by the salon owner, were very disappointing. Overall, I didn't feel valued or respected as a customer by the salon owner and this particular stylist.
