I have worked with recruiters in past and being married to one I knew what to expect. Not all recruiters genuinely care about who they are placing and where they are placing you it is just $$$$ for them. When I first arrive to meet with Juli Klein I thought it was just sit down and see what sales leads she can pull from me but I was ready to make her work for those leads. To my surprise it was complete the opposite. Juli Klein took her time to get to know me and the skills I brought to the table. She did an actual mock interview where she took the time study my body language and the way I would answer some difficult questions. I met Cindy Vardig a month ago and found her to be super sharp and at the time I was looking to start building a team with my company. My first hire would be a senior account executive for a very particular market sector in healthcare and software as a service. We spoke a few times about the nature and skills and qualities of the candidate and within a week she had found me a unicorn hire. The candidate had all the requisite skills we needed and more; we ended up hiring him. I've worked with many recruiters in the various companies I have started over the last 15 years. Just walked out of a fishing expedition at Ultimate Staffing. Was contacted because of a resume sent to a Craig's List ad, presented as the company itself. On the phone the recruiter immediately began distancing herself from the ad, pitching another job, in a different line of work. made an appointment and hung up. Filled out an online app with references and digitally signed. Got to the office and was told everything had to be gone over and signed, again. When the process was questioned, including a claim that a minor document "Must be signed or legally, we cannot represent you.", When informed it wasn't, the arrogant reply was, "Then we will not be able to work with you. And we are the top of the industry." There was also smack thrown at their competition that I mentioned having met with. As for the job on the internet? Not on their website, and I got a deer in the headlights response. Blah, blah, blah, the long and the short is, I think they are surfing for resumes, looking for quality references to recruit, and the customer service is the WORST. i can't even begin to explain how disappointing this experience was. 1st of all I NEVER contacted ultimate staffing I responded to a job offer on InDeed and the job description never said the employment process would be through an agency OK that's 1. 2 the day of the "interview" I show up to the office and the woman I was to meet with WASNT EVEN AT WORK THAT DAY ?!? Uhm ok, very professional... I would've appreciated a notice as I'm sureeeeeeee they appoint there incoming appointments, annnyyywayyy!!! 3 When I arrive NO ONE was there to great you, it was an empty office and all you hear is gossip and chit chat coming from a neighboring room full of people literally literallly talking about irrelevant work related stuff. After waiting and finally ringing a bell that's completely unnecessary (you're not a deli) I was greeted by Celeste, she was friendly and I give her that but still very unprofessional, she puts me in a room to complete the online assessment and I finish quickly, step outside, ring the bell and nothing... I sit and literallllyyy just listen to the gossip that the people in the office are talking about in a cluster of cubicals. So after a couple of people cross me, ask me multiple times "who I should be interviewing with?" "are they expecting you?" I was extremely ANNOYED but kept a chipper spirit because I'm obviously there for a reason. After patiently waiting about 10 minutes a woman with a name that starts with the letter L comes to introduce herself, explain that she will be the one interviewing me because her coworker called off... the interview lasts 5 MINUTES !!! Maybe even l as than that. She had the snobbiest attitude, didn't care to learn about me or my background. SOO let me put he cherry on top of this little cupcake ..... she asks me what my desired salary is... I give it to her and she calls me once 3 days later ASKING ME IF I WOULD TAKE AN OFFER FOR $4.00 LESS THAN WHAT I ASKEDDD !!!!!!! I explained to her that I was a single mother, I support my son and myself on my own??? Uh helllo obviously didn't listen to a word I said or the simple things I requested for my job search. I wish I had a positive experience I have never gone through a job agency and after this I NEVER WILLL ! HORRIBLE experience, HORRIBLE management and HORRIBLE customer service. DONT REGISTER HERE. I found a job posting on Indeed.com and Jane at Ultimate staffing contacted me. Like the other yelper said...right away she started distancing themselves from the ad and pitching another one. (1st weird issues) So....Ultimate Staffing sent me to another company and I really ended up liking it there very much. Then after the interview Jane called me and said that I got the job but offered it to me at a much lower rate than originally stated (2nd issues) so I said yes because I liked the place/people and there were other factors such as location and schedule that worked really well for me. Then Ultimate Staffing asked me to come in to give them copies of my documents. When I came I gave Jane my expired CA ID and a print out from the DMV stating my license was valid and they were issuing me a replacement because I had lost my license plus my SSI card. She then said that she did not know if that was going to work and that it looked "different" than other DMV identification print outs looked like. I said well maybe because it is documentation verifying my license is valid not identification for employment. Then she suggested I go to the DMV because she needed it to have the "date of when they mailed my replacement" I told her that was an unrealistic request first I am not sitting at the DMV for 4 hours to get an exact copy of what I already had in front of her plus they wont have a "mail date" on it. That was just ignorant. Then she said she was going to go "run it" and see if she can "use it". I was thinking that was strange but go ahead. When Jane came back she stated that "everything went through and she can use this print out as a form of identification" and to enter my information on line and directed me to a computer. I was so insulted but thought - hey I liked the place where I was going to possibly work and lets just start over. Then she started to say that I should be cautious of my attitude and that I was being unprofessional and that she was only going by legal procedures. So by saying that - I took it that if she was going by "legal procedures" that in turn I was not. I was so insulted and frustrated that someone at a staffing agency is so ignorant that they can not read a print out from the DMV and NEVER ONCE did she ask me for my birth certificate, voter registration or a picture student ID (she did at some point ask if I had a pass port) She was the one with the attitude and unprofessional behavior. There are several documents one can provide for employment purposes and she was quite uneducated on the subject. I told her that I was not going to work for Ultimate Staffing because of her insults. They insulted me and basically accused me of having false documentation. When I started to leave I felt bad for the client that was waiting for me to start work that day and told Jane directly to let them know that SHE insulted me and that is the reason why I am not working through their agency. (which of course she would never be honest about the situation) I certainly will seek legal consult if JANE Masino told the client I did not have proper documentation. That would be defamation of character and a bold faced lie. I did speak to their branch manager to formally complain and let him know that stating such would be considered against the law. Companies like to treat people like they are desperate and will accept foul behavior because we all need to work. Know your worth and know your rights! read more
