BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you end up using Michelle, it will ruin all other agencies for you…read more I am a professional career nanny. I have over seven years of nannying experience, five years of teaching experience, and more. I have a B/S in childhood development as well as my MAT. When I began my search for a nanny-family in LA, I did my due diligence by shopping around looking at multiple agencies. I found that Michelle had the TOP RATED AGENCY ON MULTIPLE SITES and wanted to take a closer look. I read through every. single. review. I thought to myself, "Really? Every single person had a positive experience with this agency? That's just not statistically possible if she's really working with this many people..." I decided to set up a meeting. I drove to her office where we met to discuss particulars (what I'm looking for, what families are in the market for a nanny right now, what ages/salary/commute/hours I'm looking for) and the moment she opened the door and greeted me with a giant smile and her upbeat, positive attitude, I felt like just working with HER was my perfect placement! Once we started the process, Michelle was completely professional while also refreshingly honest and realistic in her suggestions. She really took the time to get to know me and what I was looking for and she only suggested me to families that she knew had the potential to be a "love match!" After looking at a few potential matches, Michelle called me to tell me that she had "found my family!" She said, "This is the one. Please go for an interview and see for yourself." So I did. This is the part of the review where I'm going to get annoyingly emotional. Not only did the family and I immediately "click," but Michelle had made sure that all of our stats were in alignment. The age range, schedule, amount of hours, commuting time, pay rate, expectations and needs happened to all align with what I was looking for. It was LITERALLY the PERFECT PLACEMENT!!!! Coincidence? I think not. Michelle is highly intelligent, professional, personable, understanding, diligent, experienced, communicative, and pleasantly charismatic and I owe my job satisfaction directly to her. Now that I think about it, maybe I should send over a bottle of wine. Thank you, Michelle, for just being so incredibly good at what you do. As I mentioned earlier, when I started this process, I read through every one of your (5 star) reviews and thought, "There's just no way every single review can be five stars..." and now here I am adding one more.

It seemed like I had landed a few dream jobs only for it to slip away from me. Really trying times. Then I met Michelle! This brings a smile to my face. Meeting with her felt like chatting with a friend. I realized after that this is her skill. She loves people and wants to represent both the families and the nannies. It was a slow period and she didn't have any job opportunities at the time when I signed up with her agency, the perfect placement. After being on the hunt for my top nanny job with a kind family for many months and it wasn't happening I was getting ready to move out of state. I mentioned to Michelle that I'm no longer looking for a position as it doesn't seem like it's going to happen. Michelle didn't give up on me. She called me with 2 opportunities. I went on both interviews and was called back to do a trial for the one that I wanted !! Yay !! Then Michelle negotiated some time off that I needed to take care of a health issue. The family was so wonderful they waited for me ! All I can say everything lined up perfectly. Michelle will always return your call in a timely manner and she always checks in to see how you're doing. I thank God I met Michelle !

Same price as randoms, but conducted in a more organized fashion. I found some comfort in the fact that both labor and employers need to complete a basic registration. Two of the three guys I hired spoke decent English. Even though we just did moving, one claimed to do construction and the other said he could do kitchen cabinets. All worked hard, but you should provide specific direction. I even used one guy on two consecutive days. Costs may vary, but I was advised to pay $10 per hour. I did that, bought lunch and added a $10 tip. If you support the idea of day labor, but in a more organized fashion, you owe it to yourself to support this center to keep it going.

Then I thought...how the heck am I going to get this into the house now? Friend's are at work, other friends have back problems, etc...so I frantically called around to see what was available. Movers are no joke! Even the ones off of Craig's list. For a job that was literally going to take 15 mins. at the most...people were charging $80 to $100 and up. All I needed the movers to do was take a piano out from the back of my mini suv that was parked inside my garage, go up one very short step, and in total, carry it into my living room, which was about 30 feet away from the garage. Heavy work, but simple enough for two strong men. All I needed was the labor, not even a truck! So...YELP-TO-THE-RESCUE!!! So luckily I came across Charles' nice review and found me two hard workers for WAY LESS!!! I live in San Pedro, so it was convenient. I didn't mind picking up the dudes and driving them back since I live so close. If you want, though, it appears that some of the guys can come to your residence or area where you need their help. Some of them are able to drive on their own (but of course, that would mean negotiating more $$$ per hour). After calling the number I got their "jefe" Enrique. Cool dude, spoke great English (& Spanish). I told him I needed two of his strongest men but he told me that this place rotates their dudes to make things fair. So, he just took the next two guys going down his list BUT still gave me the option to choose, too, if I felt the guys he had weren't cut out for the job. Lucky for them, they were. And they even had some moving equipment (like dollies, ramps, etc.) at no extra cost. Enrique told me their rate per hour was $10, so I gave each dude $15 cash and sodas (considering my job was a quick one). Like Charles (in his review) was saying...I didn't just want to pick up some random guys from Home Depot. These guys go through paper work and all I had to do was sign the form with my name, number, and type of job being provided. It seems that depending on what type of labor you need, these guys are all willing to negotiate a price with you. Some of them do construction, painting, gardening, plumbing, cleaning, etc., though I can't guarantee the quality of their workmanship since my job just required heavy lifting and moving. The two men I received were Carlos Velado (310) 518-1056 and Marco Garcia (562) 244-1077. Carlos spoke very little English, but Marco seemed to know more. Both guys were nice and worked great as a team and even had business cards to hand to me at the end of the job. Hence, I've posted their numbers if you want to call them yourself. They advised me to let family and friends know about their services...little do they know they have internet exposure now!!! I wish them good work karma!!! Keep in mind, I guess the pick-up site has changed over time according to Enrique. I picked the guys up on 1385 Figueroa Place in Harbor City (not to be confused with Figueroa St.) and you will see tent-like canopies where the workers are waiting. This location is very close to Harbor College. Overall, if I could, I'd give this place 4 1/2 stars since they came to my rescue for a great price! I wish the Harbor City Day Laborer Site much happy and prosperous work!!! Thank you guys!!! You saved me a bunch!!!

Alannah had a reasonable commission structure. Alannah helped us find some candidates who we were told met our requirements within our salary range, and all went well at the beginning. We hired a new Nanny. Second star for the initial phase of the relationship. Our nanny quit after six months and one week after reneging on both our payment terms and immunization requirements. When we let Alannah know, her response was incredibly dismissive. Her commission had come with a "six month replacement guarantee" and her first response was to remind us that we were now outside of that window. She would help us if we paid her again. She also reminded us that she had indeed screened for our requirements so this was our problem. I let Alannah know this was a ridiculous stance since we had paid to find a nanny based on our requirements and that I was extremely disappointed in this response. She agreed to help us find a new nanny one more time. The new nanny quit after two months during an episode where our toddler was acting out around bedtime. We attempted to coach the nanny in our parenting style and preferred method to help the toddler understand what he did was wrong and how to help prevent these events in the future. It was a new behavior that we hadn't seen before. The nanny did not take kindly to the feedback, despite numerous statements like all Nannys say in their interview process of "we want to learn your parenting style and adapt". We emailed Alannah again to tell her how disappointed we were. No response this time, as can likely he expected. She no longer wants to deal with us. Mediocre recruiter. Mediocre screening services for any hard requirements. Mediocre nanny pool.
