Upon moving to the area, Suzanne was my first choice and first stop on a list of temp agencies. I liked that it's small and women-owned. Since they kept me busy during the holiday season, they were the only agency I worked with for about a month. It did slow down a bit after the holidays, but I still received at least two weeks worth of work per month. That may not seem like a lot, but for a small boutique company with no ads or sales, I think it's pretty good. Of course, I would've wanted more work! Who wouldn't? I have to say though, the few assignments I did receive were with wonderful companies and wonderful people. It's good to know they're just as picky about their employers as they are about their employees. The staff...LOVED them! I felt like they took everything we talked about during our initial meeting into consideration when placing me on assignments. My commute, my skills, my abilities, my interests, all taken into consideration. They're fun and personable and they totally get my humor. I liked them! We communicated frequently, even when there wasn't any work for me. I'm actually really shocked that they have reviews on here claiming they're unresponsive. Not my experience at all! I contacted them for everything: directions, resume critique, advice for interviews...everything! They even calmed me down when I got nervous or over-excited. When I met Suzanne, she was so attentive and gave me a world of resources and advice for my job search. When it had slowed down, I signed up with another agency...a bigger agency. Although I had a great interview with them and they called me frequently for assignments, I didn't accept any of the assignments. NONE! It felt like they just tossed me onto a call list. The companies were either not within a reasonable commute or they were of work I told them I was strongly against doing. I was unemployed, not desperate. Sharp contrast to TSS! That other agency had a really friendly staff (they're probably not the worst that's out there), but the agency as a whole lacked the personal touch that TSS has. I said goodbye to Suzanne and family when the first company they placed me with (a non-profit, as I strongly requested during our meeting) hired me permanently. Hire or no hire, I had a great experience with TSS while I was there. Job searching in a new city can be intimidating. I'm happy I did not have to do it alone.

Beacon Hill - seemingly professional firm and a lot of it is all down to recruiter. Beyond…read moredisappointing on a few occasions over several years. My experience is with NYC office. Several years ago applied and met with recruiters never to hear back or be proposed any roles despite excellent experience, education, references. Sadly certain demographics - we are far too used to this. This time several years later I gave it ago again and after applying to numerous Beacon Hill postings on Craigs list and never hearing anything I started to presume the roles were fake - just to obtain resumes. I eventually did hear from a recruiter and went to another meeting/interview at Beacon Hill hoping it would not match prior experiences of being ghosted after the initial interview. This recruiter did get in touch with a trickle of tepid roles however I had to send roles that I found online which I never heard about and recruiter said she was sending me/resume over. None of these roles have company names which can become problematic for a few reasons... I was told twice their client would like to interview me however still no company name provided which is unprofessional. One of the clients reached out to me with an interview time and I had no idea where this was coming from which is only partly why not providing a company name is an issue when we are submitted. And yes there are some confidential searches but not all. I was glad for this because they invited me to the meeting/interview and my resume was attached in a format I had never seen with a full page of experience cut off - which once again is an issue because they have chosen a candidate that is far more junior and then I began to understand why senior roles never took the time to select me for an inteview. After that the recruiter said some things which did not sit well as if I had represented the agency poorly when she had cut my resume in half. I had said no such thing merely explained it diplomatically. After this interview and me sending a few more roles which I had found online the recruiter took two weeks to reply to one email saying nothing was a fit however I had sent her roles for which I am super qualified and also ghosted me..... Work is essential for us all and when agencies or recruiters behave in this manner it makes those of us who face extra hurdles in employment worse of over all.

I've been looking for a PERMANENT job and have a pretty solid resume (I've been in the same field…read morefor 20 years) and, of course, have been contacted by recruiters to come in and talk. Vanguard was one of them. I don't know/or didn't know if this place was for people looking for full time and temp work or just temp work. I just got a nice call from a guy named Brian and came in the next day, filled out an application (although I was confused by that, since I wasn't applying for a job with Vanguard) and had a nice discussion with said Brian about what I was looking for. Fine so far. Then, he proceeded to present me with so much paperwork, I thought I was being arrested or signing up for sex reassignment surgery. I didn't actually think much of it but didn't have the time to sit there and go through it, as I had another appointment that I was already late for. When Brian was nice enough to e-mail me the stuff to fill out, I looked at it carefully. Why do they need to have my DIRECT DEPOSIT INFORMATION???? I want a FULL TIME job. I DO NOT WORK FOR VANGUARD. This is really ambiguous and a bit decieving. There is absolutely no reason why they should have any of that information unless you are tempting through them. Just a warning. I'm not sending any of this stuff back. Obviously. What's your favorite employment agency, btw? It's been about 10 years since I've looked for a job!
