I had a flat tire in the middle of nowhere on Pipers Gap Road between Mount Airy , NC and Lambsberg, VA. I called AAA and was promptly texted Ultimate Towing would be there in 45 minutes. Ultimate Towing called me a minute later and said they would be right there. They arrived after 10 minutes. Two men arrived, and in 15 minutes they had retrieved my under the truck spare, then put it on my disabled Ford F-150. They were friendly, professional and skilled. I did not get their names. I felt safe and they helped make a bad situation as good as it could be. I'll welcome Ultimate Towing anytime I have an emergency. read more

We were stranded on the side of highway 74, no luck with AAA sending a tow within 3 hrs. It was cold and dark. We called Ultimate Towing and spoke with a wonderful woman, Maryanna, who calmly talked us through, and was able to get a tow truck to us very quickly. Gage showed up, found us, because we weren't sure where we were, and flawlessly got our car and us back to Mount Airy. We are so grateful to this company who was there in our time of need. Title: Paid $1,600 for Tow - Our Truck Came Back Damaged & They Took No Responsibility Review: On Monday, June 23, 2026, my partner's 16-foot box truck broke down while en route for a delivery. We called Ultimate Towing & Recovery, and the dispatcher estimated the tow back to Concord, NC would be around $500. We agreed, and a driver arrived within about an hour. That's when things went downhill. Tire Damage During Tow. As the driver began transporting our truck, a rear tire on our box truck blew out. All the tires were in good condition with no visible wear or prior issues. We don't know if the damage was due to how the truck was mounted or road conditions, but the timing was suspicious. Unfinished Disassembly. The tow truck driver said he needed to disconnect something underneath our truck to tow it properly. We trusted his judgment--but when we got the truck back, those parts were never reconnected. Now the vehicle won't start, and pieces are left hanging. New Visible Damage. When the truck was finally dropped off--about 7 hours after the initial call--it was leaning to one side from the blown tire and had new body damage that did not exist before. We have timestamped photos showing the condition of the truck before and after the tow. Shocking $1,600 Bill. We were blindsided with a final charge of $1,600, triple what we were quoted. When we questioned the amount, we were told if we didn't pay immediately, our truck would be impounded. We had no choice but to come up with the money under pressure. No Accountability. We contacted Ultimate Towing & Recovery right away and provided photos of the damage. Their response? "Give us your lawyer's number." We're now out $1,600 and stuck with a damaged truck that no longer runs. This experience has severely impacted our small business, and we're extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism and care. Dear Yelp Community, I am writing to share my negative experience with Ultimate Towing & Recovery and warn others to be cautious when using their services. Recently, I found myself in a situation where I needed to have towing service. Police called Ultimate Towing & Recovery and was shocked to learn that their prices were significantly higher than other towing companies in the area. Despite my hesitation, I agreed to their fees as I needed my equipment towed urgently. To my dismay, when I received my bill, I realized that I had been overcharged by a significant amount. The amount charged was not in line with the proximately quote provided and was far beyond what I believed to be a reasonable fee for the distance of the tow, which is 6 miles. I did get 2 separate quotes from different towing companies and they were between $12000 - $14000, when Ultimate Towing & Recovery send me bill for $62000 , without any details and explanation! Also they are holding my equipment as a hostage , charging me $600 per day. When I tried to bring this to the attention of Ultimate Towing & Recovery, they were unhelpful and unsympathetic to my concerns. They refused to lower bill or itemize details any portion of the overcharge and were dismissive of my complaints. Owner ( Bobby ) of Ultimate Towing & Recovery being so unreasonable, unreachable. Their motto is " WE WILL DO ANYTHING WE WANT TO DO, SINCE NOBODY IN NC REGULATES TOWING COMPANIES " I strongly caution others against using Ultimate Towing & Recovery as I believe their pricing practices are dishonest and unscrupulous. if you ever need any towing services do not !!!(i repeat) do not ever use this towing company!!! they are very unprofessional!!! they will price gouge you with ridiculous rates!!! everybody from the owner, to the dispatch, and drivers will try to scam you out of extra $$. they tried to price a simple tow @ $1800 per hour with a 3 hour min. thats right $5400 for 30 mins worth of labor and we didnt even need a tow!!! they will send 3 drivers to do a 1 man job. the drivers names are jacob jeremy and justin. i highly advise you to call anonymously ther company if you ever need a tow. i recommend not using those guys as the last resort!! i suggest you run and save your money if you want to keep it. very disappointed with terrible service!!! if i could them no stars i would.!!! read more

Worest serivce ever. The only reason that my truck didnt fall off the tow truck was i hooked it up myself. The driver had no clue what the hell he was doing. Had no idea where to chain up.Was super late eta 45 got the 2 hours later. Looked like a damn slob. While driving he was texting weaving thru the back roads. So, let me start by saying I did not call them. I had a flat tire on my trailer. I was fixing it with the jack in my van. I looked up and the truck Ultimate Towing was right there. He stopped, without being asked and offered his commercial 2 ton jack. For those who ever changed a trailer tire with a regular bottle jack know this SUCKS! He just pulled out his jack and offered it at No Charge! He said it was much safer! Which it truly is significantly safer. I finished changing my tire. He put his jack away and never asked for a thing! This is the type of business you want out there. Making things better for everyone. When I arrived on scene to attempt to break into my girlfriends car after locking the keys inside, Ultimate was already in the parking lot responding to another call. I quickly realized I wasn't going to get through the door frame so I yelled over to ask if they had a slim jim. Needless to say they had the door open in under a minute. The towing side of Ultimate Towing were fast to getting to our location at a gas station of of exit 93 by the 77 Highway! on New Years Eve! Stephen was our driver! He made us feel very relaxed and was able to help me and my family get to a hotel safely. Terrible service. Driver got lost- drove 40 mi out of way and tried to charge us. After we called them on their ridiculous prices he threatened to keep our truck. Chris was great. He was prompt and friendly which made the 80+ mile ride from Fancy Gap to Roanoke at 11pm at night almost enjoyable, especially considering that I was en route from Georgia for Christmas and an overnight stay in Roanoke was NOT in my plans. But Chris was really accommodating in stopping along way to the VW repair shop to allow me to check into a hotel. AND he brought me back to the hotel after we dropped off the car. It was a long night, but Chris made it far less stressful with a terrific display of great customer service! He even checked up the next day to ensure all was well. Thanks, Chris! read more
