Upon entry today I was quickly seated and was one of two occupied tables in the dining room. The waiter came over and took my order of Zhanjiangmian. My previewed the menu online beforehand so I already knew what I was going to order. The interior of the restaurant is spacious, clean and cozy. Not long after I place my order I got my food. Zhanjiang is a fermented soybean paste and to make the dish pork and mushrooms are added to make the sauce. To my delight, I was welcomed with a warm and savory noodle dish packed with umami that just seemed perfect for this cold weather. The dish itself does not come spicy so I requested a side of chili oil which I used had some heat and this just amplified how tasty this dish was. I was pleased with my order and would definitely eat this dish again. My only complaint about today's experience, which is a pet peeve of mine, is when the server places the check on the table before I am finished eating. Fortunately, most establishments don't follow this protocol. And although it is my only complaint I do not feel this would prevent me from going back try more of their menu.

When I was there it was the owner who was the only one operating the place as her assistance was running late that day so she was responsible for all the food prep and customer service which I could imagine could be taxing on her. Despite this fact, she always demonstrated a positive attitude and was friendly. I went for their lunch service and for $10 you get your choice of entree, one side, and a drink. The person who I got lunch with ordered the yakisoba and it looked good. Unfortunately I was unable to capture a photo of his dish. Me, on the other hand, ordered the omo rice with chicken. This was my first time ever experiencing this dish and it was presented slightly different than what I had expected given that I have seen it on videos before. Regardless of this fact it was still very delicious. I ordered potato fries as my side with some of the additional dipping Mayo, which was a blend of mayonnaise and Japanese mustard and was delicious. Some other dipping sauces are also available upon requests at a small upcharge. I do plan on returning to the restaurant to try more of their options as I saw several things that peaked my interest. Be aware that if you pay by card that the operating system does not give an option to provide a tip for service. It was not only inexpensive but well prepared and tasted fantastic. Of the 3 items I ordered I would recommend the crab with avocado roll. The other 2 were great; salmon and tempura shrimp rolls. But the crab roll was surprisingly fancy and fun. It was safely packaged to go for me, including chopsticks, traditional soy sauce, ginger and wasabi. If you are in the area, you should stop in and enjoy the ambiance and good sushi.
