The wait is a non-factor at this location in POST Market (#1), which happens to be one of the best food stalls in their star studded lineup. The menu is literally just the hot dog and it's breakdown of ingredients. There are a few drink options on the menu from soda to lemonade, but that's it. It's a simple menu and I'm all for it. The hotdog ($8) was described to me by their hypeman behind the counter: "It will change your life." An excellent slogan indeed. The all-beef hot dog is sliced and grilled and topped with a combination of onions (fried + caramelized) with many drizzles of honey mayo, yoyo's hot sauce, and layer of cream cheese. It doesn't sound like something that works well together, but it does. The end result is that I want more than one, perhaps 2 or 3 in a sitting. The one positive was that everything, down to the bun, tasted fresh. However, overall, the flavours just didn't work for me. There was a lot going on and the combination felt a little too busy rather than well balanced. That said, I can absolutely see why people enjoy it. The service was prompt and friendly and the area seemed clean. The price point also felt pretty reasonable for a hotdog with this many toppings. Perhaps this late night staple would hit different after a few drinks but once was enough for me. Still, I'd recommend giving it a try if you're visiting Houston, especially since it's such an iconic late night Houston eat.

I liked the curry seasoning to the fries, the chicken was battered well and had a solid crunch/flavor. The sandwich itself is also a straightforward classic = standard brioche bun + pickles for garnish and a decent sized breast. I would say the "yummy sauce" is just a bit overwhelming for me, it's just everywhere when I unwrapped the sandwich.. It was a bit too creamy for my taste. Overall I liked the chicken and the menu for being halal, it was cooked well and the adjustable spice level is nice. But the Yummy sauce is sort of a miss for me. Not sure what's in it but too rich, 3.5/5, didn't quite stand out for me.

I definitely craved a Coke or a beer while eating this because that salt kicks your taste buds' *ss. The caramelized onions paired with the crunchy onions were a double whammy that could topple a few hot dog title holders. The real winner, though, was the sauce--definitely something Asian-inspired. There was another hot dog truck there ... but they proudly announced that they used Nathan's Famous. That's all it took for me to give these guys a try. I'm not sure what the hot dog brand here is, but it's rich and delicious. (If it's Nathan's, perhaps my tastebuds have changed.) Also, when they say 'bacon bits,' they mean legit cooked bacon chopped roughly. The star of the show may well have been the pretzel bun, which had the consistency of something grilled in butter. Wonderful. The fries here were meh... Sure, they seemed hand-cut and they had flavor, but they were flimsy and floppy. Some people might love them, but they just aren't my style. -- Also, I asked for mustard on the dog, and word apparently didn't make it to the dude assembling everything. Hardly a deal-breaker.
