Steak n Mushroom and Beef Curry Pie
    Joyce C.

These pies were sooo good. We had an event at the POST for two days, and I was hesitant to try these on the first day because the portion size seemed small for the price. However, they pleasantly surprised me!!! We got the steak n mushroom and beef curry pies. Both of them were VERY flavorful and PACKED with meat. I believe they were around $12 each, and one was already enough to make me full!! They bake these fresh, so they came out piping hot, and I loved the little initials on the outside. So cute! I believe the two people working were the owners, and they were very friendly!

I will come back here when I am in Houston! The staff was so nice (Mom and pop shop), they bake all their orders on demand and ask you to be patient as they prepare your order. Filling, delicious, spicy, crunchy, airy, gravy-like goodness. So delicious, a shame one filled me up as much as it did! Be sure to stop by if you can, this is located in one of the prettiest food courts I've been to. The lights, the stairs, it's an experience for sure!

I'm Zimbabwean, and actually happen to be from the same city as the owners of this establishment. One of their fathers used to own a very popular pie/takeaway store in the city and my mom and I used to go all the time. I loved that place. Discovering one of my favorite foods from home in Houston made my year. That pepper steak pie tasted exactly as it needed to and brought me so much comfort. I know the US is pretty unfamiliar with meat pies, but I truly don't think anything beats them. Thank you so much for bringing this here! The food is fantastic and I can't wait to see you expand!

Well, I have never had Zimbabwean and Indian fusion food before! Absolutely loved 2 Phat Bastard Pies. The chicken curry pot pie was fantastic -- I specifically asked for a non-spicy option and they pointed me to this and they nailed it. Flaky crust, flavorful filling, and perfectly comforting. What a fun spot and the two owners/chef were delightful.

Came here because my fellow Yelper friend wanted to check this place out. Wow this place has a 5 star rating, impressed. According to there website: "Zimbabwean-natives-turned-Houstonians bring a mouthwatering indo-african delicacy to life, savory pies! Hailing from Bulawayo's favorite pie shop, "Oriental Takeaways," 2 Phat Bastard Pies are a product of a bromance between two reunited immigrant families that share the simple goal of spreading happiness, one scrumptious pie at a time." Service- when we arrived at the kiosk the young server that rang us up told us that it was a family operation, which I love. His mom/dad were in the baking makes the pies as we ordered. They were all smiles and happy to share there favorites on the menu. They told us to come back and let us know how the pie was, which we did. Food- it did take a while, we walked around while waiting. But I don't mind a wait if it means straight from the oven food. I got the chicken curry, it's definitely got some kick to it, came out nice and hot. It is indeed very flaky. The chicken was just a touch dry for me, but that's my only complaint really. And that's based on my taste comfort only. She got the paneer and lamb pie, which she enjoyed. We didn't get offered any sauces but my friend went back and got all 3. The fries sauce was yummy. Love a mom/pop business and the service was 5 star. Wishing this business well.

We went to Stesi on a weekday for dinner and it was dead. But we came with one goal in mind: to try Phat Bastard Pies--and we did just that. These pies are made fresh, so don't expect them to come out in five minutes. That said, they're absolutely worth the wait. We ordered the beef curry and chicken curry pies. A little detail I loved--the lady who brought them out pointed out the "C" and "B" baked into the crust to tell which was which. The crust itself was awesome: buttery, golden, thick, and flaky. When we cut into them, they were steaming hot! Flavor-wise, I honestly couldn't pick a favorite. The chicken had more of a flavor punch, but the beef was hearty and homey in the best way. One pie is definitely enough for a meal. So happy to hear they've already moved (or are moving) to The Post--hoping the new location gets them more visibility and the foot traffic they deserve.

I wanted to try a couple places in the food court and I was glad 2 Phat Bastards was one of my stops. The pie was delicious. Very crispy and flakey on the outside and the filling was really good. I almost got a second for later.

If you're looking for a great spot in Houston to get some meat pies, this is the place for you! Located in the Post Food Hall, 2 Phat Bastards is a convenient and fun spot to grab a meal or snack. The servers are so kind and the pies are baked fresh each time! While you're waiting for your pie, you can wander around the extensive dining area or take a trip to the spacious roof. I tried the curry lamb pie and the chicken samosas. They were served hot, crispy, and so flavorful. They definitely have a strong yet delightful spice kick and were very filling.

Located in the POST as one of the stalls. Parking is free for under 1 hour in the paid lot. I got the lamb curry meat pie; it was quite pricey at $12 for a standard size pie but it was flavorful and the crust and interior was delightful. The owner was very friendly as well; the pie took around 15 minutes to make and get ready. Definitely a good option to try something different if you don't mind paying for the ambiance at the POST.

This is an Uber Eats order review: I order online. I read reviews on Yelp and it seemed like a restaurant that wouldn't let me down and it didn't! I got the vegetable curry pie. Oh when I saw my mouth was in party mode. All the flavors, so savory, creamy. The crust was so buttery and soft. Wow, wow, wow. I was a little apprehensive about paying $15 for a vegetable pie - but I am wholly satisfied. That pie was a MEAL! And a delicious one at that. I can't speak to the ambiance or service, but the meal was so satisfying that I can only imagine the rest of the stars would line up accordingly. 5/5 for me. At least for the vegetable curry pie

Just...WOW! I don't know that I have words. We are in Houston from out of town and visited POST, and were looking for something different for lunch in the food hall. Boy did we pick the right place!! This food was AMAZING. So flavorful. So delicious. The chicken jalapeño pie and the chicken curry pie were spectacular...and the chicken samoosa's.... Can't recommend this place enough!

Cashier recommended beef over chicken curry pie & it was really good! Crust was flakey & curry had a nice spice to it. Pretty big for what you pay for so i took some home too

It has an attractive outside and covered patio dining area along with an equally attractive interior space with nice music playing in the background. It is a counter service restaurant that lets you order from your table using a QR code along with ordering at the counter if you wish. I ordered the 1/2 chicken meal and picked the lemon and herb spice flavoring. They offer 5 levels of heat if you want to burn. I don't. The meal I asked for came with one side dish and I chose the fries for $16.49. For another $2.50, I could have ordered another side dish. With a peach flavored ice tea and tax my bill was a little over $21. I used the QR code and ordered from the table which was convenient, A manager came to my table shortly after ordering to say that my chicken was going to be about 15 minutes before being ready and offered to substitute other pieces for it which I declined and said I could wait. It was nice of her to do that and showed good customer service. While I waited, I went to the self serve drink station to get my delicious peach tea and noticed they offer several sauces in self serve bottles that you can use to enhance your protein. Nice touch! The meal was actually delivered just 10 minutes later. The bird was juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed it. The fries were hot and delicious too. Yes, I was happy with this meal. Nando's impressed me. The Goan Fish Curry was the standout for me. The coconut curry was beautifully balanced and worked so well with the snapper, shrimp, and crabmeat. We added the Bullet Sourdough Naan, which is an absolute must. Light, airy, and so flavorful. We ended with the Ras Malai Cake. My friend loved it, but the sponge texture and flavor weren't for me. I would definitely come back for the food and the service. However, I do have one concern that I really hope the restaurant will consider. I wish they had separate restrooms for men and women instead of having unisex restrooms. The first time I went to the restroom, there was a guy literally getting out of the restroom. When I went inside, the toilet had urine all over it. I didn't want to clean someone else's mess, so I went to the second restroom. Literally, there was another guy getting out of that restroom too, and when I went inside, he hadn't even flushed the toilet. So I had to go back to the first restroom, clean the toilet myself so I could use it, and then go back to my food. Honestly, it was very unpleasant and disturbing, and I felt nauseous afterward. I understand that restroom cleanliness depends on the people using them, but I really wish they would consider having one restroom for women and one for men. It would make the experience much more comfortable and hygienic for everyone. The food and customer service are wonderful, and I truly hope they address this issue because I would love to continue coming back.
