My wife and I went to get a couple of Pizza and a Kale salad. We were told that it would take 15 minutes. The person behind the counter was very nice and professional. 30 minutes later we finally got our pizzas and Kale salad and went home. My wife ordered the Margherita but got the pesto sauce and no Basil on it. Not sure which Margherita they tried to make. The regular one or the deluxe one? I ordered the sweet and spicy, but both pizzas were very salty. And after a few slices and lots of glass of water, we couldn't eat our pizza anymore. Service: impeccable. Food: top notch. Location: trendy. We took a stroll down 17th and decided to stop in after hearing rave reviews. Well, they lived up to the hype. We cozied up to the bar given there was a wait for a table, but honestly I preferred it. We got the 4-maggi, a carafe of the house Sauvignon blanc, and the simple garden salad that was anything but simple. Got a beltline and veggie from the takeout side of the restaurant. Really appreciated having a bottle of chili flakes, hot honey, and ranch for you to self service. Unfortunately, found both pizzas to be a little too greasy. Also wished it was crunchier instead of floppy. The beltline was just okay. Not that flavourful or unique and the meat was very hard/overcooked. The veggie pizza (my usual order at pizza places) was such a flavour bomb that it really surprised my partner, who is a very big meat eater. Every topping on the veggie pizza was flavourful enough to stand on its own to top a single topping pizza. Tried half with hot honey and half with the ranch, we both preferred the ranch. Overall, we found the pizzas expensive but might go back to try other items or the take out slices they offer during lunch time (11-4pm, 2 slices for $8) I also wanted to try their chocolate chip cookie, but the $10 price tag didn't seem worth it. read more

On a rainy Tuesday, this place was still packed around 8:00pm. There is dining indoors and outdoors. Luckily we were able to snag a spot at the bar by the kitchen, and I really enjoyed being able to watch how the food is prepared and garnished, etc. The "local" pizza was so so delicious, and the housemade chili oil truly took it up a notch. We came here the afternoon that we landed in Calgary. Area: The entire street is pretty trendy so it was a good area to walk around and explore. Parking: You pay for street parking if you want to be near by (or I'm sure you could go a bit into the neighborhood and walk back if you wanted free parking that bad). It only was a few dollars to park right in front though. Food: We got the House Made Whipped Ricotta as an appetizer. This ended up being our favorite part of the meal. The 4maggi has four cheeses topped with truffle oil and honey - adding mushroom to it is extra but its so worth it! This is by far one of my favourite places to eat in Calgary. If you're looking for a great girls night or even a first date night, Una is the place to go. It's always super busy so make sure you're ready to wait in a line but you won't be waiting too long as the service is pretty great. I always start with the Persian date appetizers filled with walnuts and wrapped in prosciutto which makes this a perfectly harmonious start to the meal with sweet, salty and crunchy elements. Una is like a fusion of true Italian and true Canadian flavours at its best. The texture of the pizza dough and cook is Italian perfection whereas the toppings are the embodiment of Canada. The belt line pizza also delivers the sweet and salty notes with the maple syrup and sausage and bacon. You get a hint of freshness from the fennel flavour in the sausage. Another Canadian creation is the tiki pizza which is reminiscent of a sophisticated Hawaiian pizza (created in Ontario). Instead of chunks of pineapple, Una served you with thin triangle pineapple slices along with a jalapeño oil to give it just a little bit of spice but a lot of flavour depth. I came with a 2 year old and the restaurant was quite accommodating by providing us with a high chair as well. The restaurant was a bit loud for the 2 year old but would be perfect for date night. UNA Pizza + Wine is notorious for having crazy long lineups as it's one of those no reservation type of restaurants. They've been packed every single time that I've visited except for during our most recent one! Forget about waiting 1-2 hours on Friday or Saturday evening unless you enjoy that type of thing. You could always mosey over to another spot on 17th Ave or else check out their sister restaurant, Ox and Angela. Inspired by California pizza joints, UNA focuses on doing one thing well. Pizzas. Does it live up to all the amazing pizza spots in California? Pizzaria Delfina was the first thing to jump into my mind after reading about their Cali influences. That place is legit. If you're ever in San Fran, check them out. The art lining the walls is funky and fresh with a bunch of cool people-cheese inspired sketches. The place itself is long and narrow with tables packed tightly together. You could say it's cramped but that's part of it's charm/hipster factor. They also have a little patio on the outside that's perfect for people watching in the summer time. So random but hilarious at the same time - they have a Harry Potter audiobook playing in the washrooms to sooth you over. Lumos! I like how they are open every day until 1am! Nothing like some quality late night eats. Menu is pretty concise - "not" pizza, appetizers, salads and pizza! If you don't want to wait in line, I'd suggest checking their Twitter feed before you head over. - Kale caesar salad ($15.00) - boiled egg, toasted panko, crisp prosciutto and pecorino romano. As my sis can't eat gluten nor egg, we got the boiled egg on the side and without the toasted panko. Perfect for me as I'm not the biggest fan unless that egg is in ramen! I feel their egg would be much better if it was runny over being boiled. Blah. Sans egg, this is still one of my sister's favourite salads - she orders it every single she comes here. The kale had a nice crunchy element to it and I like how the caesar dressing isn't too creamy but tastes light and healthy. Would I order it myself? Debatable. - Mealshare feature pizza ($20.00) with gluten free pizza crust ($3.00) - San marzano tomato sauce, roasted eggplant, burrata cheese, fresh fennel, fresh prosciutto. You know I'm down for anything with eggplant in it so we obviously had to order the feature pizza. The pizza here is thin crust and it has a nice crunchy bite to each slice. The toppings were interesting (never had fennel on pizza before) but there wasn't any bursts of flavour for my taste buds. Good, just not great like Cali pizza spots. I've had their mushroom pizza ($17.00) on a previous visit and felt the same way. UNA is a solid place to grab some high(er) end pizza. It's pretty impressive that the kitchen can do everything gluten free as this is pretty hard to find in most restaurants. If you want good food and to be part of the trendy hipster scene, this is definitely your spot. My advice is come early or late (aka. during off-times), or better yet, head over on Sunday afternoon like we did for no line. read more
