The roads are tight for larger trailers/RV's and some sites are very hard to get into. 20 & 30 amp service available with water at nearly every site. No sewers. You can dump nearby at Mongaup State Park if needed. The tent camping spots are very nice and very secluded. Very limited cell service on site. WiFi only near the campsite office.

I love camping, but I'm really picky. I want it all. I want the feeling of privacy, I want to camp on the waterfront, I want the rustic environment with all of it's natural charm & I want that hot shower with a flushing toilet nearby. I wanted the ideal romantic campsite that would be great for a couple. That's a lot to ask for right? Wrong! I found our gem, so stay with me here... First things first! Call them up & discuss your needs. I may want & need all that I have listed above, but your needs may be wildly different. They'll most likely have an ideal spot that caters to all of *your* needs. I need a huge tent, because I'm a bit of an air mattress "glamper," and I also needed the feeling of privacy. *I* was keen to walk a bit & leave the car in another spot to achieve my perfect campout, so they directed me to *my* needs. I spoke with Heidi (a couple owns this site) & she answered all of my questions in-depth before helping me book the site. There is something for everyone, I assure you. Call & discuss with her, she gets *it*. We stayed on the Islands, beyond the Pines sites. There were rules involved. The sign should just read "NO JERKS ALLOWED," but jerks don't read signs & jerks don't even know that they're jerks, so there are rules that pertain. I booked a spot on the Island where there are no radios (except w/ headphones) and no dogs allowed. Sure, you think your music taste is great, and that your dog is harmless & cute, but I might not think that! This part of the campground was perfect for me, but if you want to play radios, have your car right near the tent, or bring your dog along, she'll book you another part of the campground where it's allowed. We pulled into the Pines parking lot & got a handy wheelbarrow to haul our things over to what felt like a completely secluded campsite for my boyfriend & I. The only signs of life from neighboring sites were smoke signals from their campfires. It felt like we owned the land, just him & I, and I was really grateful. I'm a city dweller, I don't need other people to communicate with, because they're with me at all times when I'm home. I wanted to feel alone & I got it! No giant frat party here! If you want a more active part of the grounds, ask, but I don't think jerks are allowed, so keep it in mind if you're a big jerk! We were told how to keep it clean if we didn't want to tempt greedy raccoons & we did, so there was no evidence of hungry animals that would have eaten us in the night. We were also assured that even though it's bear country, bears weren't an issue there like many of the Catskill campgrounds. Not a single bear interrupted us. We did see some gorgeous deer when we pulled into the road, some salamanders, a few hummingbirds & a chipmunk. All so very welcome to share the experience with! Outside of flushing toilets & showers, there are outhouses closer to each site for that middle of the night bathroom trip. When I arrived, Heidi assured, "They're clean." And they were. Nothing gross about the shower house, or the outhouses & that's kind of hard to achieve. Hats off to the couple who own this place. They're doing everything correctly. On-site Heidi runs a little camp shop for all your forgotten, but needed basics. Firewood & sodas, ice, eggs & bacon, marshmallows, grahams & chocs for s'mores. Batteries for lights, and well, you get the picture. These people get my style! Or I get theirs, rather, but you know what I mean. On the campgrounds you'll find the sincerely charming & quaint old covered bridge, a quick hike to waterfalls, and a great menagerie of animals that Heidi keeps! Roosters & chickens, some fancy Polish chickens who look like Andy Warhol art stars, donkeys, a horse, cats & bunnies, curly feathered wedding geese and a goat that begs for a nibble of food. Heidi took the time to satisfy my curious questions about the animals while my boyfriend happily fed them all some feed that you can buy for just a dollar. Thing is, I always leave the campsite & do Catskill things, but this time I didn't even want to leave the site at all. It was all there for me. Although it's pricier than some campgrounds, I'll definitely be dropping my usual favorites & come here instead. It was worth every penny & I'm happy to have found it at last. It's perfect & our hostess Heidi was a sincerely gracious & cool gal that I'll see year after year, I'm sure. I woke up in NYC after my trip feeling fully charged & refreshed, already ticking down the months for my next trip up.

It's a nice walk around the main lake. Amazing pictures to be taken of foliage and lake. I would say avoid Summer crowd as it can bring in some riff raff campers. Not great hiking unless your looking for flat dirt road hiking. If you don't plan on camping you can rent a Log cabin. The log cabin rentals are....eh? Do your homework prior to going to be sure you know what your renting. Has beach on end of the lake but can sometimes be mud and not sand. They do have row boat and kayak rentals that are pretty nice. Food stand is good with decent food stand food. All in all it's not a bad place but very low adventure but pretty.

The tables are a good distance from each other and perfect for the 6 ft social distancing amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. This park was not crowded, had a few families and dogs- but just the perfect amount this past Saturday. I really enjoyed being here and was so grateful for the views. They have a nice hiking trail and it's a wide open space. I am thankful for the lake where you can canoe and kayak. Everyone is very respectful to each other. The park also has two lovely playgrounds for children to play on- after the pandemic. I can't say enough good things about this park because it's just perfect. If you ever have a chance to get outside and explore this is the place to be. Early mornings in the summer - I cannot wait to go back- but friends don't forget your masks! Stay safe!

After Hanna checked her computer, my dates were all clear ...great, then let me pay the $70... but no... she had to check with management first. I thought that was strange since that never happened to me before when getting available campsites. I was told I'd be called later that day but nobody called me. I went back the next day only to be told all sites for the summer were rented out. Clearly that was not true based on her computer check the day before. BOTTOMLINE: if you are not a baseball family spending $1000's here, don't expect to even get the time of day. Therefore, they do not deserve anyone's business.

Our cabins were clean and well appointed with sheets, blankets, towels, coffee pot, toaster, small refrigerator, microwave and several utensils that the prior tenant had left. The views are amazing, the grounds are beautiful. We had so much fun here. Here are some tips: *every cabin gets a fire pit and picnic table *buy a $10 chair at Walmart to put on your porch. It'll be the best $10 ever spent. *All Star Village is across the street. It's about a 15 min. walk on a steep hill. *have your team party at the Pavilion. There are 2 grills, fire pit, lighting, and camp host offers several chairs for seating around the fire pit. * the cabins closer to the pool are a bit larger, and they have a stove. The kids highlights were biking all around, the wagon rides, the golf cart parade, and fishing. The good outweighed the bad, but I like reading detailed reviews so I know what I'm getting into- so I hope this review will give a clear picture of what to expect here. First with the good: - the WiFi is great, 5 bars.. as it's a total dead zone for cell towers. This was great all throughout the park. -The "lake" I say this lightly as it's not the size of a lake I'd consider.. it is pretty, you can rent boats for $5 per .5hr or you can bring your own. -swimming pool on grounds (which looked nice) -The campground tries to have fun activities. They have a huge blowup water slide and also a smaller one for littler kids (check to make the schedule (as I believe it changes) -Our cabin was clean and had NICE amenities considering it was just a rustic cabin. (Cable TV, A/C, Heat, Microwave, covered porch and mattress was nice.) This was awesome!! -Staff was friendly, attentive and I'd say like others reviews they make the place as nice as they can, eager to help. The store they have is nice too. Our Bad: (these are things I think the AB owner should address (have they visited lately or ever?) - the bath house nearest us was UP a steep hill... not accessible to everyone. no lights near it at night making it hard to see. There was no door knob on the women's room - you had to grip the padlock to even open the door as the knob was totally gone.. It was grungy. I get it, that it's camping but each bathroom we visited here was the same way. Run down. (Clean as it could be - but run down) (I saw many different staff cleaning while here, and I will commend them on that. The trash was picked up timely, the stalls had toilet paper, and things were cleaned regularly.) -A common theme here is that we felt like the whole place needed a face lift. Freshen up the playground, fill in the potholes, update the bath-houses, the pedal carts are old (the kid that unlocked it for us even said these like 20 years old) -The loud noises during the quiet hours was HARD. The drunkenness, hollaring, cussing, romping on golf carts all throughout the night was very difficult for our family with kids. We witnessed a golf cart crash into a ditch with drunk adults. The campground tried to control the noise I believe with a whistle - but the troublemakers were still there in the morning.. This alone forced us to leave a night early because we needed better sleep than the night before) - *biggest thing that surprised us was the lack of privacy. We felt like the sites were TOO close together that there was little to no privacy. If you are thinking you'll be tucked in and have some relaxing time, sorry you won't find that. Golf carts running by constantly, everyone could see what you were doing and vise versa. I felt like I was sitting on a front porch in a busy town. We were not tucked in amongst trees like we pictured in our mind. One of my pics show this and how tight the rentals are. Things would be way better with every other site being there and the others gone. We felt like we were packed in there.

Booked 4 nights to spend with extended family, our two families spending about 2k total. In less…read morethan 24 hours, our 6 kids and other passersby were yelled at by a vulgar and belligerent drunk who wouldn't leave the campsite, a family moved into the site next door and promptly instructed us to move all of our things that were up against our deck because they needed the space. "Enjoyed" our morning coffee overlooking the algae covered pond (see: NOT A LAKE) to the scents of the septic pump truck making its rounds. An hour later was blessed with a spray from the facility's speeding airboat which appeared to be spraying some unknown substance around the water- hope it wasn't toxic, because it got in my drink. There isn't enough room to light a fire and gather around it at the campsites (think garbage can fires in back alleys) Inflatable activities that are advertised are only open on the weekends apparently, even though it is peak season. You have to pay extra for any and everything. There is no value here, not even in the typical camaraderie you get with other outdoorsy folks. Will never ever ever return.

There's a crystal clear creek running through the campground. The creek and the river are magical places for kids to play. They search for tadpoles and other critters and can swim in the protected lagoon, which gets deeper gradually. Finally, you can lay in the rushing river water for the ultimate spa experience. Can you tell we liked it here? The campground is run by a family who has had the land in their hands for generations. They are excited and kind about sharing it with visitors and have created an awesome culture of friendliness and respect among campers and the campground owners. There is a well equipped camp store with everything you might have forgotten and even local pottery. The bathrooms and grounds are very clean. They also run tube, canoe and kayak trips where they'll drop you off upriver and you'll finish at Soaring Eagle. We did a tube float down the river which was the highlight of the trip. There weren't many others on the river with us which was a special thing. They also rent canoes and kayaks. We'll try those next time.
