I've been coming to Uncle Bill's in Fishers for a few weeks now for feeders, and I've noticed that the workers are constantly talking badly about each other and disappearing into the back rooms for long amounts of time. I had to wait 15 minutes before i finally caught someone to get me a rat. It doesn't seem like everyone is on the same page or likes each other enough not to talk badly about their coworkers. I'm sorry to see terrible reviews for Uncle Bills in Fishers. I have been a customer there for over 15 years. This is my go to place for my snake food (which on occasion inadvertently become pets). We have two dogs from here that we got as puppies two years apart (after saying never pet store, never puppies). Both are excellent, healthy dogs. We added two COVID parakeets. We have gotten countless fish here. Customer service is always top notch. You can order online for supplies and pick up. read more

I was very saddened by the reviews of this location. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with uncle bills. I purchased a puppy at this location and they worked with me extensively to make that experience positive. The staff was very knowledgeable about the process. They offer a "free" (it's really $30) initial vet visit for the puppies they sell and seem to really care about the wellbeing of their animals. Ultimately? It's a pet store. Of course it's sad. But that's why we bring these pets home. I love my pup and go out of my way to go back to uncle bills to buy food because it is clean and friendly. Prices are high, but I don't take that as a ripoff but rather insurance that these animals are well treated. read more

I hate this place and most of the things it stands for... but when you live in an apartment that is brand new with no pets allowed and all you want is a puppy and you are driving by on a Sunday afternoon and there are no pet places around ... all I want to do is hold a puppy! They definitely get their dogs from puppy mills. They definitely stick fish in containers that are WAY too small for them. And they DEFINITELY have terrible high school staff. But they a new Beta fish display case and those fish look WAY healthier than they ever have. That is the only reason this place gets even one star. I bought a baby bunny from the one in greenwood and it immediately got sick and i found an emergency vet to check him out at 3 am it was far away . the vet said the bunny was suffering and dieing and it was 100% the best thing to just have him put to sleep. Due to the 7 day health warranty uncle bills did replace the bunny. However now i have a $350.00 vet bill that i have to pay.i feel like they should pay this bill. Do not recommend this store. My sister and I came in to look for hedgehog supplies, but we had to leave because were so overwhelmed and horrified. All of their animals seemed miserable. One poor newborn puppy was shaking for the entire time we were there and was struggling to stand. Another puppy was barking for food. The bearded dragons' nails desperately needed to be clipped and the snakes seemed depressed. Aside from the animal abuse, the store itself was also very overwhelming. The lights were way too bright and the sections were disorganized. Additionally, in the midst of a pandemic, none of the employees were wearing masks nor were they encouraging customers to maintain six foot distance. Very disappointing. read more

My boyfriend and I went in to just look at bunnies knowing almost nothing about them. We were completely unprepared but absolutely in love with the cutest little mini lop. Nathan was amazinggggg at helping us find everything we needed. He helped us pick out the best food and cage, and answered any questions we had. We left feeling super prepared and he even gave us his personal cell phone number in case anything came up or we had any more questions. If you are looking to purchase anything from this location Nathan is the best! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is our bunny ended up being very sick within the first 24 hours of having her home and we had to take her to an emergency veterinarian. read more

The bird products are super pricey. $30-75 for the nicer bird toys is pretty crazy. The store itself is very nice and they clearly have tons of cute pets to choose from. The checkout process is annoying with having to click a bunch of buttons and even sign! Why do I have to sign for a $10.00 bird perch? Anyways while it's a nice store I wouldn't go here for bird supplies due to the price. I'm glad I didn't bring my bird inside with me shopping as there was a fee roaming cat at the entrance. My husband and I have purchased a total of 4 rabbits from this place. After the second rabbit I begin to feel something shady about this place however I decided that i would give them the benefit of the doubt... HUGE MISTAKE. We went back and got 2 more (we really only wanted one, but they seemed bonded so we got them both) not even 3 days later one of got extremely sick and didn't even make it to the vets office before he died tho his brother is ok. Now just yesterday we went to to just got get hay since everywhere was closed and OMG I NEARLY CRIED RIGHT THERE IN THE STORE. This poor bunny was basically jailed all buy himself in a way to small cage ON THE FLOOR!!!! We had no choice we had to take him. When we got him home we had to.. no lie CUT an entire fist full of matted hair from his butt area. Needless to say the proper authorities will be informed and they WILL be shut down. read more

Went in today with my family to purchase some dog food and obviously to look at puppies. Who doesn't like puppies? First off, there was probably around 10 different employees that I personally saw that weren't doing anything but standing there or walking around doing absolutely nothing. Usually when I run in here to get dog food I get asked a thousand times if I need help, I guess today everyone was in a crappy mood, I don't know. But anyways, while all these employees stood around almost every single dog cage was FILLED with feces and urine. Water almost gone. It's like they could care less. But yet they still want thousands of dollars for puppies when the pups have poop all over them and smell horrid. I understand every once in awhile it cannot be avoided, it's a puppy. But for the amount of poop and urine in the cages, it seems like they hadn't been cleaned in hours. Ridiculous. Poor animals. They need to hire people who actually CARE for animals and not just a pay check. Won't be coming back here again. read more

after waiting for around 30 minutes and talking to 3 different workers while 2 boxes were open to play with the dogs, we finally were helped after watching numerous other groups be helped who had just arrived. We had played with a few dogs and then were asked if we were almost done, very rudely, by one of the workers. There was one last dog that my girlfriend had been waiting to play with but before we could, again the worker came over, being rude the entire time, told us there was a 2 dog limit and there were families waiting even though while we were waiting, groups had free range of dogs to play from. I went into the store to get some dog food for our dogs. I didn't know much about the store, being new to the area. The dogs in building had feces on their fur, urine was collecting in large amounts under the wire bottoms of their crates. It was tremendously disturbing. The dogs looked scared, neglected and neurotic from the conditions in which they are living. The staff didn't seem to care or even notice. I don't know which is worse: the fact that I witnessed the blatant mistreatment of animals, or that I actually bought the dog food out of convenience; I supported that. I will never step into that store again. I plan to attend the next protest. Please, avoid this chain. They support puppy mills and perpetrate the mistreatment of animals. read more

I went in once, the day we adopted our dog. An employee helped me pick out a dog food for him (which turned out to be horrible but that's not her fault, she was just trying to help). I had no problems with the staff; they were all very nice. But as I was walking to the checkout, I saw it. The wall of puppies. I wanted to put my bag of food down and run but I didn't. I paid for it and knew the profit would go to a store that perpetuates puppy mills. I worked at a puppy mill pet store as a teenager. I've seen what they look like when they come in. There is nothing ok about it. There is NO reason to breed puppies for sale. There are so many dogs that need homes. I won't allow one penny of my money to go to this store ever again, unless they stop with this puppy sales and start holding pet adoption days like several other local pet stores do. read more

I went into get crickets for our pet lizard....they cost a little more here...but..they gave me like 25 when I was asking for 12...so that was not so bad.....then I saw all these cute puppies. As I inquired about these dogs.. I realized what they really were....An overpriced puppy mill. You would think with the high margin they could get bigger cages for the animals. Lots of animals. birds, bunnies, lizards, and of course lots of adorable puppies kept in micro cages....I saw a lion fish tied to a rock...How about a separate aquarium? and of course my favorite was the not so adorable Mr. Spaz cat..jumping around a small cage....freaking out....probably would not spaz if it could get out. read more

We've spend hundreds of dollars here and their return policy on live aquatic fish is really sketchy. We special ordered a goldfish and was told it would be $8.99 and at last an inch big. They never called when they received it in so they stuck them untreated full of ick with the rest of the "special" goldfish. That teensy thing not even 1/2" long was $12.99. I was told there was a 7 day return policy of it doesn't make it so I bought 2 of them to get them away from this horrible treatment they're receiving there. Less than a week, one of them died, and there's no fine print saying that any aquatic fish over $9.99, you only receive 1/2 amount returned. This made me very mad as I could've spent that $6.50 elsewhere. At or before 1 week, the 2nd one died as well, so I lost a full $12.99 on that one. UB just pocketed over $18 on very poor quality fish. Marine fish, crustaceans, and live rocks aren't all aqua cultured. They are harvested from the oceans' reefs depleting the wildlife in their natural habitat. I was shocked when they said they haven't gotten any new snails in since there's a tropical storm hovering near the far east so collectors aren't able to pick them up from the ocean. Now I feel bad for purchasing 3 saltwater snails that were most likely taken from the ocean. For aquatic animals, I probably won't be purchasing from them anymore since I don't now where they source them and if they will survive beyond their BS make what I want to return policies. read more

No stars, would leave negative if I could. Third bad experience here... Fish people know little about fish - They told me I could put fish together, one ate the other, then they refused a refund. Foolishly, I gave them another opportunity to provide terrible service, and they did not disappoint. Saturday my son bought a chameleon cage (in which he saved his allowance for months), misplaced the receipt, and they wouldn't allow the money back THE VERY NEXT DAY, despite being a "preferred member" (must mean kids are first in line to get screwed), the box being unopened, and my offer to present my bank statement. Normally I wouldn't care, but it was $165 of my kids' money. The manager knew he bought it the previous day, knew it came from that store, knew I paid for it via my bank card, and still maintained her stance, and incredibly rude disposition. Maybe the sign out front should say Uncle - Greedy, Nasty, Don't Care About the Customer - Bill. I will never shop there again, and I would and will recommend to everyone to do the same. Between the rudeness and incivility of the management and the fact that the employees have no real knowledge of the animals they sell, I can't see any reason to shop here. read more

Place is dirty and aquarium room floors are wet and very slippery. Cashier wouldn't help us with information just said I don't know go ask her. This pet store is terrible if you are a saltwater fish enthusiast shop elsewhere, I was going to purchase a blue damsel fish that was in a different tank and the guy tried to tell me a penny sized blue damsel was a 50$ dottyback whichbwws completely false, there fish knowledge is terrible do your research and dont get tricked by there mislabels and high prices highly untrained, this is not the first time this has happened too, they also need to clean there dog cages out as well!!! read more

I love this place and I go there a lot. I haven't had the experience of buying a pet, but when I go there all the pets seem like they are doing better than they we're probably taken care of before. I have seen reviews about pets being in bad shape. All I have to say is that the pets you see there are pets that have been given to them. People donate pets to them when they can't take of it, that is a reason that they might not be in the best condition. I've been shopping at this store since the day they opened but today I spent the last dollar they'll ever get from me. I was completely fine with the fact that they hire young kids, mostly girls, to work in the store but when I have to wait 15 minutes to give them my money because some creepy bearded employee is playing grab and keeping them from doing their job, I draw the line. The only person who seemed to be working was the manager but because she was working, I doubt she saw the shenanigans taking place in the store. I understand their frustration because most parents take their kids there as an outing while the yoga pants clad moms do whatever they do on their phone but I've spent thousands on pets and supplies. Unfortunately, I had the worst experience to date in a pet store. My daughter and I were looking to possibly purchase a puppy. The staff were very unprofessional and ignorant. Our experience started very good we looked at two small breeds. The staff at that point was very attentive and checked on us every few minutes. Then we decided to look at larger breeds. This was when the trouble started. They suggested the Mastiff. He was very big probably 60-70 lbs so he wasn't a young puppy that would typically see in a pet store. As soon as he was alone with us in the meeting area, he began trying to immediately escaping by jumping over the walls. He must have been under the impression that I was holding him back because then he became vicious, not playful but actually mad and started biting and showing teeth and growling. He had bitten my arm and thigh several times and luckily my daughter was able to get out of his way. I called for staff but apparently everyone was busy. After trying to subdue the puppy for about 15 minutes, I left the puppy in the area and found staff to tell them what had happened. I was bleeding and had multiple puncture wounds. The man I told said don't worry they have had all of their shots and walked away. He seemed to care very little about my obvious wounds dripping blood. I left the store and went home to properly clean and disinfect my wounds. I will not be returning to this store and I'm going to be warning everyone I know as well. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

I got a puppy here. Mistake. One they don't tell you the price until you're attached to the dog and then walking out the door. Then we took her to a vet because she kept coughing and she has ammonia!! Yet the paperwork says her heart and lungs are okay. If you get a pet here, go to a vet immediately!!!! I met a puppy and wanted to buy but it was very expensive ,. I was at the Uncle Bill's in Fort Wayne, IN. The dog was born in February and has been there the longest of all the other dogs as I have been visiting almost weekly to see an affordable price. I was advised by the staff that they let the dogs out of the kennels for 10 minutes twice a day but do not interact with other dogs . The puppy I wanted was hyper and teething. He needed to have my big back yard to run and interact with other dogs in a home where love was shown . They wanted me to use the finance company which was between 30-35% and I don't believe in that. I asked at the end of July if there were any options like 90 days, same as cash and was advised that I could . I paid $150 to hold him until Saturday , July 27th. Fixed up my house, bought a bed and food and toys. I did not want the guarantee for the dog as I wanted him to see a local vet for me , not the vet on the other side of the town . I then went up to get the dog and they advised there was no such thing as 90 days same as cash. I would have to pay the full amount . They gave me the $ 150 back for holding until Saturday. I feel that the conglomerate Uncle Bills only cares about profit . A 90 day same as cash option would be easier. Their prices from dogs from these puppy mills is outrageous. Truly appalled by the way the animals are treated here. The puppies are teething and have no toys in their small cage. I saw 3 puppies today with eye infections that did not look to be being treated. Many puppies were sitting in their urine and poop that had not been changed out. The water they get, they are unable to drink from properly with how it is set up in their cage. The staffing was very short with hardly anyone around to help us, let alone cater to the animals needs. In addition, the place was extremely dirty. I am so saddened for these animals and will be calling further to try and do something about this. read more
