This is one of my favorite restaurants in St. Thomas because it's authentic Caribbean cuisine. I was excited to go here on my recent trip to the Caribbean as I had found it on Yelp previous to my arrival plus it was walking distance from the resort we were staying at. One day we were over at Coki Beach catching some rays and swimming while enjoying some drinks on the beach when we both got hungry. I said, "Let's go try Uncle Buddy's! It's literally 50 feet away." It's such a vibey little open aired space right on the water with beautiful views. The lady and her son who own the place were super friendly and welcoming. She had her son whip my gf up an amazing cocktail which we both shared and loved plus I had to enjoy a Presidente beer as well. When in Rome :) We ordered a platter that came with fried plantains, rice and beans, fried shrimp, and salad. We also ordered a fish sandwich. All of it was to die for! Excellent! We came here for lunch as this place was close to Coral World where we were at. It is right on the beach so you have to walk on the beach to get there. It is a little stand with one long table and a couple of chairs, which were already taken when we arrived. They were out of a few things we wanted, including the conch, so that was disappointing. We ordered chicken tenders, a burger, and the snapper dish and paid in cash. The food took about 15 minutes and comes out in to-go packaging, but we ended up eating there on the railing since the table was taken. Everything was definitely made to order, but the "tenders" were dino nuggets from the frozen food section. FOR YOUR SAFETY DO NOT EAT HERE. We ordered a mahi sandwich and a mahi filet - I could not even bite into the fish from how hard and rubber like it was. My boyfriend took 3 bites of the sandwich and a hair came out of it (see picture). As nicely as human possible, we said we would not pay for the sandwich but we'll pay for the filet since it didn't have hair on it (even though I shouldn't pay for that either) the worker went crazy and started screaming at us and threatening that we will not leave the island or the restaurant and kept getting really close to my boyfriends face. He was saying we ate the food, i literally had one bite and left it and my boyfriend had 3 bites until we saw the hair and he stopped. He later came out with a chair pushed me (a girl) and attacked my boyfriend - everyone around was trying to make him stop and apologizing to us (so we were clearly not in the wrong). Got flagged down in the parking lot and decided to take a risk with this place. SO glad we did! Amazing drinks, fantastic food, and great ambiance. We sat at one of two tables under their awning and were able to take a swim in the ocean while waiting. We ordered the bomb (blended fruity drink of their own creation) and rum punch. We tried the steamed shrimp, fish sandwich, jerk chicken, and fried snapper. All of it was incredible, including the sides of rice and beans and plantains. Probably the best rice I had on the island. It came with rice beans, salad and plantains (like 2 pieces). but every thing was seasoned well and we pretty much CLEANED OUR PLATES!!! We decided to give this place a shot after a visit after spending the afternoon at the next door ocean park and Coki beach. The food was incredible, but very pricey for a beachside meal. Their steamed redfish was incredible, as was their fish tacos...all tasted very fresh. We had a very friendly waitress who helped us order for our daughter who has a severe allergy. This is a beachside environment, so be prepared for no AC, no fans and it can get a little stuffy in the seating area. Overall, good food...just pricey. Their CC machine was down when we went to pay, so luckily we had enough cash on hand to pay. I've read other reviews online, indicating this is somewhat common...so, be prepared to pay in cash. read more

Amazing service - Webb took care of us from the minute we got there and made sure we had everything we needed for an incredible day.
