Came here on a Saturday morning around 10am to find all the bays were full (good sign people trust them). Waited maybe 5-10 minutes?? A young gentlemen came out to greet me, apologized for the wait, and told me which bay was opening soon. Really appreciated being informed! Got the usual full high mileage service & price I get elsewhere; so that tells me I'm not getting jyped. I overheard a conversation of service recovery in the bay next to me. Staff was very courteous, helpful, and understanding when a difficult situation came about. Professional and non confrontational. Thorough check of all lights and tires. Boss man came over and checked to see if I was doing good AND came to help his team. As a leader myself, I like seeing managers in the thick of it. Staff were also helpful to each other and respectful. Great communication. Sam was a great tech! Entire service took about 10-15 mins; which I'm not complaining about. I always change my oil myself but the weather came in early this year. I was very happy with the service today. I was impressed with Josh, sharp guy. Since I was going to do the oil change myself i already had the oil (full synthetic) and filter (pre soaked with oil in it). No problem! I got the cheapest service to save some money. They even gave me a small discount for providing my own supplies, Nice touch. I had a Military discount or Senior to choose from. read more

Have used this location for my oil changes for the past five years. The staff is always friendly and walk you through service and explain everything prior to initiating so you understand the reason and total. For the attention to detail and quality of service it is absolutely worth the price. I'm sure there are cheaper places, but I would never visit somewhere outside of this company and location. read more

For the uninformed, looks like a nice , local place you can trust. But the oil change prices are well above the cost at any other drive in oil change shops. and even higher than a new car dealer. But the worse thing to consider is trying to sell unnecessary services and succeeding when the customer looks unaware of what services are actually needed. Buyer beware!! read more

Not impressed with the work flow. Spent over an hour to the supposedly 15 min oil change sign. Not sure if it's under new management but I have always came here and was always impressed with the fast service. The guy working who's possibly in charge is slowing the process. He orders other employees to do things while he spends most of the time jumping from bay to bay and doing half the work and talking with customers and on the phone . This is slowing everything down. All the gentlemen working there were very friendly and polite. However... the air filter wasn't put back together properly, and caused debris to my mass air flow sensor, causing engine stalling. 10 min oil change right on the sign... I pulled in at 4pm, 4 guys working only using 1 of 3 bays. Had 1 person in front of me only getting an oil change. 1 guy did most the work while the other 3 stood around talking to each other. I get it, it's hot out, but you have to have SOME hustle when doin your job, I waited 45 mins before my car got in the bay, and didn't leave till 5:15.. 1 hour and 15 mins to do 2 vehicles is ridiculous.. place went straight down hill after Jordan (manager) left... and they just raised their already overly priced services. +3$ and now it's $59 for a conventional oil change.. GTFOH! sad to say I doubt I'll be back.. read more

I have had many oil changes here over the years. 2 weeks after my oil change, my low oil light came on and I literally drove to the uncle Ed's. I told them the light had come on and I had just had my oil changed. They put me off on the lift and told me it was normal for Subarus to burn oil quickly. Wow! I told him I had never had my oil run low and 6000 miles over the course of the life of my vehicle. They talked me off. I asked them to check anything that might be leaking. I drove away in good faith. Two weeks later my oil light came on. At this point I wondered if there was a real problem and I took it and spent $180 having a high-quality mechanic check it out. He told me that the oil plug had not been screwed in. I got a hold of the manager. He assured me he would take care of me. And he would get back to me. I made multiple calls in the course of the month and left messages with no return call back. I had to call the corporate headquarters to get him to return my call. As he promised five weeks before, he finally refunded me the cost of my oil change. This was the most incredibly bad service I have ever received from any mechanic anywhere in the course of my life. read more

I typically avoid quick lubes because their oil change prices are often more than one more traditional repair shops charge, but the place I typically go to started charging $45 for an oil change, which would take hours to get done. Well, if I'm going to pay $45 plus taxes and other fees for an oil change, it may as well be quick. I was hesitant about stopping an Uncle Ed's, but I'm glad I did. The oil change was pricey at $45 plus taxes and fees, but I did get out pretty quickly. More importantly, they gave me a buttload of coupons just for going there. I actually got a second oil change on my other car (I think within 1 month or whatever of my first oil change) for free. They also mailed me a bunch of $15 and $25 coupons for various oil changes, which makes the prices very competitive. So I'm pretty happy I stopped by, since now they just throw coupons at me (which don't expire for almost 2 years). Based on my limited experience, the other prices are pretty competitive as compared to my old repair shop. For instance: they charged $25 for a new air filter and $11 for a new brake light, which is about or maybe even a little less than what Belle would've charged me. Other positives is that the two times I went there, the crew was very friendly. They did offer many suggestions to clean this or fix that, most of which I declined. The nice this is I never felt pressured to do anything, like I have at some other places. They just point it out, and if I decline, they say alright and move right on. If you're looking for a quick place to get your oil changed, I suggest this Uncle Ed's location, especially if you enroll in their membership program (or whatever it's called), because then you get the coupons which will really make things affordable from that point forward. Only drawback I have experienced so far, which I think is not specific to Uncle Ed's but rather relevant to all quick lubes, is that the inspection on your car is less thorough. Less than 2 weeks after having the oil changed in my SUV, we had to take it into our regular shop because of brake and rotor issues that would've been identified had we gotten our oil changed there. So that's something to keep in mind. If you want a more full inspection of your vehicle, especially things like brakes, then a quick lube may not be your best option. read more

TL;DR I paid way too much for a sub-par oil change that took way too long. I was disappointed with my experience after reading reviews. I went in for their advertised "10 minute oil change." I went to the shop because it came well recommend and was conveniently located. Positive notes are that the service was very friendly, professional, and thorough. However, there were more negatives than positives. The first thing that caught me off guard was the price, which was almost five times as much as I usually pay. Synthetic oil was far more expensive than mineral oil, which itself was still more than double what I usually pay for synthetic. I also wound up being in the service bay for 40 minutes instead of 10. The wait to be seen was very short, but the actual work took a long time. One reason for the time was probably all of the extra stuff they told me I needed. Lastly, they filled up the oil reservoir too much and I had to drain some out when I got home. The oil on the dipstick was clear, but the stuff I removed from the sump was completely black and opaque, which tells me that they didn't drain all of the old oil from my car. Maybe they should focus on the task at hand and make sure it gets done right, instead of trying to find a bunch of other stuff to try to convince me to buy. read more

This is the second time I have gone to Uncle Ed's, initially I came in because it was conveniently located. The oil change was quick & to the point. Plus, they will top off all your fluids as part of the change. All the staff there have been very professional and courteous. Sometimes when you get an oil change they will try to up sell you or bully you into thinking your car needs something extra. While those "extra" options are available, there is never any pressure or selling. The only reason I won't give 5 stars is the price is a little high, about $45. But there are usually deals or coupons. I will gladly pay the extra bit of money in exchange for not being hassled or 'sold'! read more

I generally only leave reviews for businesses that make my experience amazing or terrible and Uncle Ed's Oil Shoppe falls into the amazing category. First off, the entire staff was extremely welcoming, friendly, and respectful (something I've never experienced at an auto shop). They noticed I had a missing tire stem cap and replaced it gratis and nonchalantly mentioned they had done this for me, even though this had been bothering me for a few months. They topped off my fluids for free and didn't push any products on me. I got a transmission flush, and it was much less than other places I've been quoted and they explained in layman's terms how the newer cars, such as mine, require synthetic and that is why it cost more than older vehicles. I get the impression they are not upcharging their products to absurd amounts like other places, and that is why they will now have my business. This is a very convenient place to drive in and get all your car maintenance finished on the way home from work, because of its great location just off Ellsworth and Carpenter. I've driven by dozens of times, but always just told myself an oil change can wait another week because I didn't want to spend the time sitting and waiting. I've always heard such good things about Uncle Ed's, but they must have been talking about a different place. I have been to this location several times now, each time hoping it won't be as bad. Don't get me wrong; as far as I know, they are very competent and capable, and they work quickly. But what made me stop going - made me afraid of oil changes entirely - was their incredibly rude, high-pressure, unpleasant staff. Every time I've visited, I've been repeatedly and incessantly pestered with up-sells and add-ons, and derided for making what the staff feels is the wrong choice (for their wallets, no doubt). I've never left paying what I expected to, and on at least one notable occasion, was flat-out lied to about the cost and my options. They will take advantage of you so many ways you won't ever want to get a oil change again. Incidentally, the one staff person I met who didn't exhibit the qualities described above was one who only mumbled very quietly, then got angry when asked to repeat himself. I went here for a routine oil change on my rendezvous and they talked me into getting premium oil and a radiator flush that cost me $200. when I left the shop my heat stopped working and a week later it overheated and blew a head gasket. My car had never overheated once before that and I've had it for four years. Now I have no car and no way to take my son to school. Thanks uncle Ed's. Never coming back. read more

They try and up-sell you everything. Scare tactics, taking out your dirty filter, the usual stuff. Seems impossible to get out of there with ONLY an oil change. I came here about a year ago and had stellar service, the lady manager who helped me made sure I got to use all the coupons and discounts I could, and respectfully understood that I was on a limited budget and not able to afford a bunch of unnecessary add-ons.....and didn't try to sell me...every...single...thing...possible. THIS TIME everyone I talked to kept asking me over and over what kind of oil I wanted, I kept saying over and over whatever I had the last time I was here, apparently nobody could figure out by looking at the details of my previous visit - I know they track all that. I have owned this car 2 years and even though the last time I was there I had them update the information to be all mine, I still get the previous owners personal information in little bits - I've been given their home address as well as their license plate number - I keep telling these guys that's not me. They claim to update the information, and yet it never updates. They also wanted to sell me nitrogen tire inflation service at $10/tire reeeeally badly, even though I kept saying no, I'm sure I declined at least 4 times....They then apparently charged me $9.99 for one wiper blade and $16.99 for the other, and fast talked me into a $40 cabin air filter I told them I could not afford. I questioned the price and was hushed while they tried to add a coupon? I got the details for every little thing they could possibly sell me when they should have been but were not actually working on my car to get me out of there. I felt detained and pressured the entire time. I want to say it took almost an hour, there was only one other customer and no line, they seemed to have plenty of staff on hand.... When I got the receipt home and actually looked at it, they damn charged me for a LEXUS air filter. I drive a basic ten year old 4 cylinder economy type car with COMMON PARTS AVAILABLE ANYWHERE.. I felt like I was waiting on them to do actual work on my car more than they were actually working on it and sat around waiting while about 4 different people all tried different handling tactics to get me to add more services on I could not afford. I was in there for close to an hour and felt pressured into unnecessary products and services. I live right next door and will not be returning. read more

The 'manager', Micky, was extremely rude and forceful, and kept trying to add on things without getting my permission first. He kept telling me that I did not know what I was talking about because he was a 'state certified mechanic'. The worst part is that he smelled like weed. Its pretty pathetic when a corporation has such low standards for the 'state certified mechanics' that they don't care that their employees reek of marijuana. I have been to this location before but every time I go there when he is working I get treated poorly, talked down too and dissatisfied and he smells like marijuana. read more

Just had a less than pleasant first time experience here. Before getting my oil changed, I showed one of the workers my coupon. They waited until after to tell me my coupon was expired (I thought it was a valid through date - not expired on - as I just downloaded it from the Uncle Ed's website today). They also told me at payment time that my car required a special air filter that's an extra $10 after already placing it in my car.... I'm not knocking them for not taking the coupon if it really is expired but I think these extra charges are something a customer should be notified of BEFORE to make an informed decision. Plus, the guy was just rude. Everyone else was friendly except for the main guy who seemed to be in charge. I'm giving 3 stars because it was very fast and the franchise as a whole could be great. I took my boyfriend's car there recently (I had taken my car there previously a few times) and they went through the normal song and dance of everything that should be done on the car. Since it wasn't my car, I declined all of them. I come home to find out my boyfriend had just had all these things done a month before.
