Overall great. Staff were friendly and polite and importantly, they didn't try to upsell me. They offered but did not push me to do a synthetic oil change too early. They helped top off fluids for my car and put air in tires when it was needed (due to the low air light being on at the beginning of winter, a yearly occurrence). They then sent me on my way without me needing to pay anything (despite offering) -- I will be back when it is time for my next oil change. Instead of providing an honest recommendation, they told her she needed full synthetic oil for her vehicle -- which was not true for her make and model. They upsold her into a service that cost more than $100 extra. This kind of pressure-based upselling feels predatory and takes advantage of people who trust that a national chain will act ethically. We expected better from Valvoline, but the experience showed the opposite. Came for oil change and that went well and as planned without any issues. The whole thing took 30 minutes, not including the wait time. Awful location. Waited 35 minutes and had employees direct cars into the bays but one bay wasn't moving and I sat there and watched them service multiple cars in the other bay while still waiting - they were shocked when I left when they told me I had to wait while those that arrived well after me were serviced. I'm generally happy with the oil changes I get here but the last time I went, the whole ordeal took over an hour. The staff were friendly but the process itself seemed inefficient despite there being at least one or two staff member per car. With about the same number of staff and customers in line last time, I was in and out in 20 minutes. They also didn't check my air filter and forgot to reset my check engine light on the way out. Overall I was very pleased and happy I came here for the first time. I was hoping to get a quick oil change for a decent price and avoid going to the dealership. All of this was accomplished by coming here. I was able to use the five dollars off online coupon for my oil change today. This place did try to sell me several things such as a cabin air filter, engine air filter, Fuel injector cleaning service, and asked for a donation to the cystic fibrosis foundation. I just politely and respectfully declined all of these additional purchases. The guys were quick, friendly, and I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Lohr road location. There was a long line. Waited 20 minutes to get in - understandable. Then the phone rang and the tech spent another 20 minutes dealing with "customer service" and complaining to his coworker after the call. In that time nothing happened with my car. I know this because they actually have a camera under the car so you can see them working on it. The screen also had a nifty timer on it. Why the guy under the car couldn't do any work remains a mystery. Then he tells me the trans fluid needed to be changed. So I agree to this and he came back told me it was a "closed system" and i would have to get it changed at a dealership. I asked him if he had ever worked with a Jeep he said yes but some were open systems and some were closed. Okay fine, but you looked at the engine before you sold me on the transmission. I really have no idea what the truth is about this. I work a lot I need reliable transportation for work and the dealership told me in february that I needed a coolant flush that every place else I went to told me was not needed yet. So, I am supposed to go back to the dealership that told me to flush the coolant? I don't really fell good about that either. Then he hands me a sticker that says that the oil needs to be changed in 3000 miles after he sold oil that would be changed in 8000. I asked him what type of oil he put in my car. He said full synthetic. I asked him why it read 3000. "The system defaults for 3,000 miles. I can't fix it" ????? I am simple person who relies on the stickers to tell me when to chain my flipping oil. So he asked me if I need a pen so I wrote down the mileage on spare piece of paper floating around my car that I have already lost. He needed to get his pen back too - $90 for 10 minutes of actual work - no free pens floating around that place. I need this car to run three more years so that i can pay off my loan. I can't play around with maintenance. I don't trust this place either. These people don't inspire trust and you can get better work done cheaper. read more

The auto techs were super friendly and nice very sufficient in their work, about a 15-minute wait for service. Problem after leaving car sounded a bit sluggish thought maybe the oil needed to move around some more I took the expressway home a 15-minute ride, approximately a half mile from my exit my vehicle gurgled up and shut off completely I coaxed to the side of the freeway my vehicle was dead wouldn't even tune over. Normally they email coupons around the time your next service is coming due which is nice and has kept me loyal to the brand for years. However, they do not update the wait time on their app. I've been fooled by this twice recently. Today the app claimed no wait but when I drove to the location I was told it would be an hour and a half wait for an oil change. The young man working just shrugged his shoulders and said the local operation has no control, it's all corporate driven. For me poor technology is significantly worse than none at all. If they can't manage the wait time function it shouldn't be posted for consumers to rely on. The coupon is no longer worth my time so I'm going elsewhere in the future. read more

Pulled into the bay, the pudgy one with the grey hair in his thirties ignored me and sat at his computer for almost five minutes and when I asked for an oil change responded with "hi" like I was in the wrong. After that he tried to sell me on that "you need our 80 dollar version bs" and refused to do an engine flush. Just take your car to pennzoil over in Belleville and get it changed for 30 bucks and no uppity soy boys. read more

Do NOT go to this place thinking all Valvolines are the same. I've had pretty good transactions in the past, but this last time I visited, they claimed my battery was dead when it clearly was not(got it tested again at the dealership), claimed that my differential fluids needed changing every 15k miles when it was actually 60k, tried to drain the oil but stripped the plug causing $200 worth of damages, and then LIED about it. I finally got in touch with the corporate office, but after saying they would talk with the district office about getting my car fixed, they have ignored me for the past three weeks. Screw the $200 in damages, I will just be vocal about my incident and make sure people stay away from this place. Great staff and service. I am very cautious about where I take my car for repairs, and had let it go way too long since the last oil change after my mechanic retired. The other day my way to work the oil light had gone on and stayed steady, so I rushed over to the Valvoline drive through as soon as I was done working. Unfortunately, got there too late to get the oil changed but the manager Adam was very helpful, and went out of his way to top off the fluids in the car, and make sure that it was safe to drive, even though they were closing. Will most definitely be bringing my car here regularly in the future. read more

Will never be back nor recommend anyone to this place. I went with a new car for an oil change and they "convinced" me that my car took a special kind of oil that cost over 90 dollars. I was charge over $100.00 for a basic oil change (no tire rotation). I took it for my second oil change at a dealership (where they told me to never take it because they will over charge you) and paid less than half for a full service oil change with tire rotation. I took my F150 here expecting to get the tires rotated. They could not do it and said the lift was not up to the job. Pretty high price on the air cleaner, which I declined an did myself later. I found when I did it myself that they neglected to fasten the cover completely when they checked the air cleaner. So what else did they neglect that I don't know about? I have been using this place for many years because it's close. However, their procedures and efficiency change with staff. I have waited long periods unless I get there 1st thing most recently 30 minutes because they were rotating tires. They shouldn't. They are not cheap. They up-sell and slow the process unless you shut em down. Now they have a new procedure taking customer's car keys. They say there was an accident. I doubt it. I went in to get an oil change and had a tire rotation done. They did not tighten my lug nuts down all the way on my front drivers side tire. My tire had fallen completely off my car on I696, luckily no one was hurt but there was over $1,500.00 worth of damage to my car. I filled a claim with them and they said it wasn't their fault and did not pay for the damage done to my car. There only reason for saying it was not their fault was because it didn't happen immediately after my tire rotation. Anyone who knows cars or has any common sense will no that if you tighten the lug nuts properly that the tire just doesn't fall off. they handled this poorly and i had to spend $1,500 on car repairs out of pocket. these people are idiots and do not let them touch you car!!! all i wanted was for them to fix my car and they couldn't even do that. They are very lucky that no one was hurt when my tire fell off. Those idiots cant do their simple jobs and put peoples lives at risk!!! Avoid this location at all means. I had my oil changed at the Valvoline on Novi Road. Come to find out at the next oil change, that the oil pan plug had been stripped and a "pansaver plug" had been installed. This is not acceptable practice, but when I did call the manager at this location, Chad Everden, he offered to examine my car for the problem and attempted to fix it. When this fix did not seal properly, I called back and the next step was offered, which was to repair the threading in the pan so that a larger plug could be used. I had to bring my car back to have the pan outlet re-threaded. I was told that if that didn't work, they would continue to help me until the problem was fixed. Luckily, using a special tool, the re-threading worked, and my problem was solved at N/C to me except the time involved to make the corrections. I was treated very professionally by the team, and am happy with their process to resolve my issue. Even though the initial event of the outlet being stripped should not have happened, and certainly I should have been told it had happened, they did take responsibility for it. A joke for a quick oil change business. On the last two occasions, waited almost an hour to get in one of the bays. Cars pulling in after me were leaving. The difficulty seems to be with the staff and management of the shop...employees shambling around not really in a hustle to get the cars out, but taking their sweet time. Tire rotations on both bays...why not have ONE bay dedicated to that and other ancillary services and the other exclusively to those who simply want to get their oil changed. Prices seem very high compared to the competition for all services, including oil changes. If this is a corporate owned store, sure hope you investigate. Thanks. read more
