Amazing tacos ... staff is super friendly.. love this place .. cute little place if you are not careful you will walk right by it

Street tacos -- one chicken one steak
    Ali D.

So let me start by saying the staff was friendly! And my sister was extremely happy with everything she ordered. (A shrimp tostada and a fried avocado taco) The food was very "meh" to me. I got two street tacos -- one chicken, one steak. The chicken looked like it had no seasoning on it and was boiled or something. I don't know... it's just not what I was expecting. The tacos had a ton of meat in them and it was all pretty average. I thought the chips were really good but the salsa wasn't that flavorful either. They had Pepsi products so I got a Dr. Pepper to drink which was good the first time around. When I went to refill it something must've been wrong with the machine and the syrup shot out and the drink bubbled up and over the side of my cup super fast... and the drink tasted horrible. I had high hopes but mostly it was a bummer. Like I said though, I dined with my sister and she absolutely raved about her food and wants to come back. Next time we're downtown I'll have to give them another shot to see if it goes better for me.

This review is a to-go order. Not eating in the establishment, which may have been different It's small inside, but they also have tables outside. They have fountain drinks and juices, including bottled beverages. There was a lot on the menu, but I decided to get my order to go. The staff was friendly, and it didn't take long to get my order. I also got churros to go The burrito was just okay, and the tacos were as well. The rice was tasty, my favorite part of the meal, but the beans weren't good

Best fajitas I've ever eaten, and that says something as fajitas are my go to! Definitely try this place out! Great food, reasonable prices

Fundio queso was really good. It's very rare to find good queso now at a Mexican restaurant because half the time it's watery Well they didn't water down the cheese at all! The burrito was great it was almost like a breakfast burrito with eggs in it. Wasn't bad. I just wish it had more seasoning in it It wasn't really the best burrito I've had before but it was still pretty ok An the fried tacos I'm not a fan of Not enough meat or anything in it really. I was eating more taco than what's suppose to be inside the taco. But other than that it was pretty decent and the service was pretty slow upstairs. No one really came to our table except to bring the food I had to get up to get my own bag and to go box and sauces.

Move over BBQ, Memphis has Mexican food! We came here on a weekday during lunch while visiting Memphis. After eating bbq for a few days we needed something different. We walked in to find a line to the end of the door. Once we got to the front we ordered chicken nachos, asada burrito, chicken taco, shrimp taco and pastor taco. Luckily we were able to find a table but if it's crowded I believe that they also have seating upstairs. The chicken nachos were bursting with flavor, and might be my favorite item on the menu. They're layered with beans, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, carrots, cheese, cilantro, jalapeños and sour cream. The chicken was seasoned and grilled well and shredded to perfection. The chips were crunchy and didn't get soggy and held up to the task of piling up the toppings for the perfect bite. The asada burrito was nice and beefy (both in flavor and size). The egg inside was a nice surprise and shaped in a nice plant that accompanied the shape of the burrito instead of just scrambling it and throwing it inside. The pastor taco was really good. You could taste the spices and the tiny bits of fruit that they add in gives it a nice refreshing bite. The shrimp taco was also very good if you want seafood but if I would choose the other meats over the shrimp if I had to. Now let's talk about the sauce. They have both red and green sauce and while both are good - the green sauce is where it's at and has a kick that not may green sauces have. Coming from Southern California where arguably the best Mexican food is, this place can easily compete. Everything we ordered I could easily see myself ordering again and again.

First time experiencing this restaurant, and highly likely my last. Food: $10.25 for a fun bite sized salad. Pollo Salad dressing is the one thing that was decent and had flavor BUT that's about it. Service: mediocre Ambiance: casual

There are normally a few tables on the sidewalk outside of the restaurant.

When is the last time someone has been? I believe it has closed :((

I can not believe I have not reviewed Soul Fish as of yet. I am a huge fan…read more Let me preface this review by saying ... My grandfather owned two successful catfish restaurants. As a child I grew up on fried fish filets and hush puppies until my grandfather had to retire and sell his restaurant due to his Health. He still cooks up a mess of catfish for us about two or three times a year when we visit. Yum! My standards for good catfish are extremely high. Good fried catfish is not greasy, light cornmeal batter, tender flaky inside, and slightly crispy on the outside. Sounds simple enough but the truth of the matter is... Good fried catfish takes skill. After an epic searched for any decent catfish in Memphis and surrounding areas that took a few years ... My family and I decided to give up. And when I heard about Soul Fish it took some considerable convincing to get them to go. We where, none of us, disappointed! Soul Fish is without a doubt the best Catfish in Memphis. It is perfectly fried... Hushpuppies are tasty, coleslaw edible if not always yummy, fried pickles crisp and tart, pickle green tomatoes so yummy I could swim in them, and vegetables always cooked and seasons well (special recognition to the cabbage, broccoli, and black eyed peas). The service is always friendly, fast, efficient, and correct. The blackened catfish is pretty tasty too ... Sometimes they get a little heavy handed on the seasoning. Deserts are pretty great as well. My sister loves the Mississippi mud chocolate thingy they have (I'm not a chocolate fan). I've introduced many people (about 40 or so) to Soul Fish - locals and visitors alike - and no one ... And I mean not a single one of them where disappointed. So why four stars instead of five? True... the catfish is the best in Memphis - however it is not the best I've ever had. And Sometimes a filet or two at Soul Fish fall short of perfection... However ... I'm a regular and a fan of Soul Fish Cafe. If you have spent hours and disappointed meals trying to find good catfish in Memphis ... Look no further ... This is the place for you. I promise you will not Be disappointed!

Memphis is a slight detour on our way back to Texas, but there was no way we were settling for fast food along the highway. We wanted good seafood--fresh, satisfying, and worth the stop. So glad we chose this spot. From the outside, it's simple and unassuming. Inside, it feels like a slightly bougie fish cafe--clean, cozy, and well-kept, with subtle holiday decor and that warm Southern hospitality greeting you at the door. Our server, Denise, was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The one-page menu keeps it simple, and she walked us through it along with the daily special. We ordered the gumbo, salmon burger, and a grilled salmon plate--everything tasted fresh and cooked to order. A perfect seafood meal in Tennessee. We left full, happy, and already planning what to try next time. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

A prime location for a prime steakhouse. The service was strong as was the pacing. I found the server a bit too eager to explain the restaurant and the menu. I'm a ribeye eater so I had a pretty good idea I was getting a ribeye before I went in. I think the talking is used as a way to upsell and push guests towards opaquely priced off-menu "specials" which from my understanding are always on offer (such as their deviled eggs and bone marrow sauce). We started with the beef tartare and duck ravioli. I preferred the tartare, which had a nice spicy seasoning throughout. The duck ravioli had an excellent sauce on it, too. For our mains, I got the prime boneless ribeye ($68) and my brother got the prime strip ($56). We also shared the Yume A5 Wagyu experience ($225), letting us try three different cuts of Wagyu side by side. For sides (about $15/each), we did the fontina potatoes, truffle honey tots, and carrots. We also added the gulf prawns ($21), foie gras ($14), and bone marrow sauce (~$20) which was prepared table side and was plenty to share. It was very rich and peppery, though a bit of a salt bomb. For dessert, we shared the French toast bread pudding with maple butter ($14) which is one of my favorite bread puddings I've tried. They also brought my brother a dessert since it was his birthday, it was something like a raspberry mousse with coconut foam and a sharp raspberry sauce. Excellent. The Yume experience was a big motivation in coming here, as getting to try cuts of A5 Wagyu next to cuts of regular (albeit prime) beef is unique in the Memphis area and really for hours around. It was priced as an experience rather than a food item. It did not disappoint, nor did the prime steaks. The A5 is so unbelievably tender by comparison. My favorite was the ribeye, but I'm biased. My brother, normally a strip guy, agreed with me there. The potato sides were underwhelming, particularly for the price. I don't know how I let my brother talk me into buying him $15 tater tots for his birthday. I could get the carrots again, though. My total was $800 for the two of us for the above food, six cocktails, and tax and tip. A big chunk of that was the Yume experience as well as the drinks (we were celebrating!). If we were to go back, it would be closer to $350 for the two of us, and I would go for the prime ribeye with foie gras again, no need for Wagyu or sauce. I enjoy the sister restaurants in this restaurant group (Coastal Fish, Flight, Southern Social) and frankly I'd bet Porch is the cash cow of the group due to the relatively poor value proposition. We had a great experience exploring the finest steak and accompaniments one could wish for. But, for my money, Coastal does a pretty good steak too.

After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!
