So after all the hype I decided to go to Uncle Henrys Tamales located at 4358 E Lucas in Beaumont Texas. The tamales are the bomb but this time I decided to try the Cracklin. A complete disappointment. They smelled delicious, looked delicious but to my surprise they were in a plastic Ziploc bag which is a big no no when it comes to storing cracking. They were soft and gummy. Just gross and complete ignorance on how to store crackling to be sold. This was a complete disappointment for me. Anyone that's a Cracklin person knows once crackling are done and cooled they should be placed in a paper bag to keep them from getting soft and mushy. The paper bag keeps them fresh and crispy. Best crackling Ive had here thus far is at the fair at Ford Park with Southern Fried Krackling . They know how to do it. So if you looking for good crackling Uncle Henrys aint the place to go. SMH

Extremely disappointed in the tamales we got from here. Extremely greasy no meat inside the masa just terrible. We ordered a dozen which cost $9 and not one of the tamales could be eaten.

After Jason Marshburn's (Daddio's) excellent review on Uncle Henry's, I headed there after work to pick up something for supper. I have been going to Uncle Henry's for years. My family frequent the original location near the Viaduct bridge and then on Blanchett in the South part of Beaumont. I remember going there for hog cracklings and tamales. I'm glad that his ancestry is keeping this landmark and family business going for more than 75 years. I drove up to the window and placed my order. Large menus are on the front and sides. I just started rattling off food. "Give me 2 links, 1 smoked boudin, 1/2 dz. tamales and a large cracklings." $20.50 I have learned that people find their own way to eat an old fashion link. The meat in the casing is very loose. I squeeze mine out on a half slice bread, fold it and eat. I dip the bread and meat in the sauce provided. My husband takes two slices of bread and puts mayo on both. He then squeezes the meat on the bread and eats it like a sandwich. Which ever way your preference, old fashion links is a food you will either love it or hate it. Not too many people fall in between. Uncle Henry's link was spicy, moist and the flavors were lip-smacking good. These house-made links are excellent. If you don't like spicy here is your warning, but if you do your tastebuds will thank you. Some old fashion links around town have more of a garlicky taste and not spicy at all. The balance of flavors in this link was impressive, but not for the faint of tongue. The cracklings were warm and large. I love the salty taste. Some were chewy and some hard, but that is just the way it is when eating them. No one crackling is the same. The tamales are a creole-style tamale, made with beef and cornmeal and not with maza. They are soft and eaten with a fork. I did not try the boudin because I was full. I will take it with me to work for lunch tomorrow. They are also house-made. The prices at Uncle Henry's are very reasonable. I guarantee you won't go broke. They also sell chili with rice and nachos with cheese and meat. Their gumbo is seasonal. Check out Uncle Henry's and support a local business that has been here longer than most of us. The people are friendly and the service is fast. You don't even have to get out your car. It is located at 4358 E. Lucas Dr., Beaumont, Texas. Hours: 10 am- 8 pm. Monday-Saturday. This is definitely one of my #bestbites. Support our Locals First.

Omg. I'm basing this off the tamales alone... HORRIBLE. It's EXACTLY like they made Cream of Wheat, flavored it with "tamale flavoring", rolled them in the husks and set them in greasy something. I saw, NOR tasted any meat whatsoever. You can't pick them up once the husk comes off. I can't even call them tamales. I shoulda known something was off when they served them with a SPOON. Ay Dios mio!

They have simple things like chili, smoked Boudain (my favorite), links, cracklings, and of course, the tamales.
