Best local pizza place - great tasting pizza friendly fast service, what is there not to like!

Horrible experience! Came on a weekday place was empty and was told needed to pay $25 for them to allow us to bring our own cake. I'm a little surprised at this place has only three stars, it was excellent. The sandwich was perfect. The pizza was phenomenal. You don't need to add anything to it. The right amount of cheese and topping best of all everything tasted extremely fresh. This place has been here for 42 years! No matter what you think that is an amazing accomplishment and goes to show you how nostalgic was places and I bet they've been doing it the same way they have always done it. Michelle, please help me out was very friendly and actually talk me into getting the sandwich and she was right! I came during lunch time. First time coming here and let me tell you I was having high expectations for this pizzeria we ordered the Family combo which is four pizzas, one topping and four pitchers of soda $115 plus we orders some hot wings when we first arrive there was two people on the counter that did not make us feel welcome. It looked like they were laughing at me and my family. We still decided to order hot wings. We're not hot. They look like they were there and they just warmed them up. This place used to be great, but now is overrun by terrible staff. I've never been more disrespected at a food establishment than I have been at Uncle Howies. If they mess up your order, they won't fix it. In my case, I ordered a sandwich with no cheese, because I can't have it. They brought it out with cheese, I politely reminded them I asked for no cheese, and the server "no you didn't" so rudley. I then asked for peppercinnis, and he rudely says, "you'll have to go up and pay for them". Like....dude, really? To top it all off they were severely rude to my mom. Another brought my mom's food out. My mom said, "oh, I have a salad as well". The server rudley says, "yeah it's been waiting for you at the counter" as she walks away. It's so trash. Look at this $5.00 salad, salad dressing is bigger than the salad. $6.80 for onion rings and only got 6. Young girl was a complete smart ass in front of the manager. Manager useless when you talk to him. Him get a number for your table, but yet don't bring you all your food. NEVER again. Genuine Retro Pizza Parlour Delicious Pizza, Meatball Subs and an impressive array of arcade games are the highlights of this local establishment. I am conflicted on the star rating, but decided to rate it a 5 due to the outstanding flavor of the food and to make sure anyone nearby knows if you are in Redlands, the best pizza, this is the place to go, especially over any chain. The ambiance is 1980s team party all the way. The establishment oozes celebrations with its long tables many civic awards and arcade. On the other hand, it was rather expensive. The soda refills are 1.50. They do not have pizza by the slice as noted on Yelp. A personal pizza (about two large slices worth) could not be made a specialty pizza. They charge 1.65 per topping for this size. However, is cheap bad pizza ever better than delicious hand crafted pizza sprinkled with hometown pride? My spouse loved his 12" meatball sandwich. We agreed it was the best meatball sandwich we have had in over 20 years. Then my personal pizza came. The flavor was epic. the sauce spot on, crust hand tossed, cheese definitely real. We reminisced about pizza spots of our past from our previous home town and decided the pizza was also the best we had in as long as we could calculate. Children giggled with glee playing whack a mole, hoops, ski ball and more as they earned tickets in the arcade. Kids these days don't likely remember these establishments like I do. Parents were well entertained with the baseball game playing on the big screens. Beer and soda are available in pitchers. I am glad I wandered in here while working nearby. I felt a little sad that I never found the best pizza place in town until I no longer reside in Redlands. I still work nearby a lot and if I am ever craving meatball subs and nostalgia, I will definitely be back. This is absolutely the spot for your pizza party or team event. Met with some friends for lunch on Friday, 10/17/2025. We ordered 2 large 3-item pizzas plus 2 pitchers of soda. We were going to eat in. We waited and waited. They had given us a number...which was clearly visible on the table. Finally after 45 minutes someone from our group went to inquire and came to find out they had put in boxes as if for take-out... pizza was a little warm but not as it should have been. Very disappointed after a few locals said this was the place to go. I should have tried it first before I used it to cater a lunch for 4 today. First, do not trust their menu when ordering sizes. My husband had to go back to get the family size anti pasto because the large one would not have fed even one person! The anti pasto barely any salami or Italian meat and the cheese was shredded! OMG No Italians made this. The large pizza wasn't large at all and had a trace of red for the tomato sauce that had zero taste. They charged a fortune for this plus each topping was over 3.00 each. Luckily I only added mushrooms and olives. The worst were the Italian sandwiches! Sloppily put together, one slice of a few pieces of cold cut meats with MUSTARD and slice of meat. My grandson wanted to go to uncle howies for his 5th birthday. Imagine our shock when we were greeted at the door and told that we could not bring birthday cake and presents inside unless we booked a specific area. Then we were told that we should have 15 people in order to book it but we did not have that many. Needless to say it put a real damper on our day. read more

I don't know if this place sold to different owners or if the economy has taken its toll on this place but what I can say about my last visit to Uncle howies, this place isn't the same place I was raised on. I have been going here since I was 6 years old with friends and family. Rented the party room for countless birthday parties and get togethers. I was super disappointed. -From the cheap ranch you have to pay 80cents for (I guess no more homemade ranch) -To the arcade games all being $1 per game. ($5 bucks in games went by in 10 mins) -Oh and they stopped giving you free refills on sodas for dine in customers -pizza didn't seem like the same quality I have grown to love at howies. Pizza was delicious! I've been looking for a good pizza place for a while and this definitely hit the spot. Their wings are delicious too literally the best wings I ever had. You have options to get wings double fried if you like them more crispy also but their sauce is to die for. Super spicy but has great flavor. We placed an order to go and they were really prompt and nice. They had good service I'd definitely try dining in for the future. They have a game room, it seems like a fun place to be. I wanted to update my review on uncle Howies pizza. My last review was not good and I vowed to never go back. I really really liked the fish and chips up until that time and the two times prior. So because I liked it so much I decided to try it again this last week and this time it was absolutely delicious . I have learned after calling in an order to go directly there. They told me 20 minutes and I was there in 10 and my food was nice and hot and ready. The pieces of fish were good size , crunchy and hot. I want to mention one gentleman that works there. Not bad, your typical mom and pops pizza joint. Pizza was average for a brick and mortar style place which isn't a bad thing. I'm big on even topping distribution throughout the pizza and this place delivered that so good on them. The restaurant is clean, fast service, with a kids arcade, convenient location. They offer everything from a personal pizza through a small, medium, large and extra large. Wings were actually pretty good, a perfect blend of crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. They've been in business for 42 years and I can see why. Ordered take out. It was easy and the food was really good. So imagine my disappointment when I tried to order again and it wasn't easy. A woman answered the phone and said she'd be right with me. Mind you my husband was already en route because I didn't anticipate it being difficult. I sat on hold for almost 10 minutes waiting for her to take my order. Finally I hung up and tried calling back but it just rang and rang. I ended up telling my husband to go somewhere else because he would have gotten there before I could even have placed my order. I understand places get busy but people on the phone can't see that and if you're going to put someone on hold maybe tell them you're busy and it'll be a while. My autistic teen son and I met a friend of mine there with her 2 autistic sons. The teen was so excited to be there and making lots of noise as he does when he is very excited. The Asian gentleman, not sure if he is the owner or a manager or an employee came over to the table and he asked me to take her son out of the restaurant and we weren't even finished eating yet. The teens mother had taken the younger one outside as she was on the phone trying to find out where law enforcement found her stolen car. Probably the best pizza I've had in years! Medium thickness, good sauce, generous toppings. Crust was crispy without being burnt. Twenty minutes for a very hot pie. Workers were extremely nice. We visited on a Monday afternoon just after noon. I don't know why they weren't busy but I don't know the area as we were just passing through. Been hooked on Uncle Howie's Pizza since the first time I came here. The pizza Mozzarella sticks and wings are always can't go wrong. They also have subs for those who prefer Sandwiches. Uncle Howie's is so fun! It's good for family gatherings or birthdays. Getting coins is ve u simple all you got to do is put in a dollar and you'll get so much! Food is SO GOOD. The service is good besides the fact is takes FOREVER to claim your prizes because barely anyone is there to do it. The overall ambiance is great, its never packed but does have an average amount of people going there. On my first trip here, I WON 1,000 TICKETS ON THE BASS GAME!
