Dined December 2025. Had not been here for a while and heard they had updated their menu. The place still has a great distillery vibe with great woodwork and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a huge bar! SERVICE: Tonight was good. We were a little worried as we only saw one server handling the entire dining room and it did take a little while to place our order, but she did a nice job and handled the room well. Also we were not in a hurry so appreciated the time to relax. FOOD: New menu is good. I like the new variety of options. I tried their BLT and the wife and daughter had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. My BLT was BOMB. The grilled cheese has been upgraded with a thicker better bread, but the cheese seems to still be an American cheese (which is great if that's how you like it) my wife prefers cheddar. Still tasted great. They had a lot of great weekday specials and their happy hour looks good too. We will need to come back to try some more food :) read more

First time customer! It was a Tuesday around 4:30 PM. Upon entering the Bar tender immediately greeted us and told us we could sit anywhere (not busy) he was very friendly and helpful with the menu. They have a great happy hour menu for food and drinks. The ceviche and chips were delicious. We ordered the tacos, carne asada and chicken to try them both. They were good but nothing to brag about. I noticed one waitress sitting at the bar and chatting with what I think is a personal friend. There were little fruit flies buzzing around. Probably from bar area. The place could be cleaner. The rest rooms needed cleaning. The place needs larger attractive sign outside on street to draw in more customers. Larger happy hour menu. Had more color on the inside or better decor. The possibility is endless. Bar needs attention. I had friends talk about going as well and agree with suggestions. read more

I arrived at J RILEY's at 9:03 PM, well before their posted closing time, only to find every entrance locked and secured except for an outside gate. After walking around the side of the restaurant, I could clearly see a bartender pouring a beer for another employee inside. When I knocked on the door, the staff initially ignored me and refused to acknowledge me until I pointed to my watch to indicate it was not yet 10 PM. Eventually, a young woman came to the door and told me they had decided to close early because business had been slow that week, and they refused to serve me despite still being open according to their posted hours. As I was leaving and getting into my vehicle, the same employee who had been served alcohol and the woman who denied me service were both outside on the balcony drinking alcoholic beverages themselves. What makes this even more disappointing is that this is not the first time this has happened to me. I have shown up there before well before closing time and experienced similar issues with early closure and refusal of service. I understand this is a privately owned bar and restaurant, but closing almost an hour early while customers are still arriving is bad business and misleads patrons into believing they will be served during posted business hours. Not the best experience last night. My partner and I came in about 55 minutes before closing, and before sitting down we asked what time last call was. The hostess told us 9:30, but then the bartender gave her a strange look and she asked, "Oh, is it fine if I say 9:30?" right in front of us. It immediately made us feel awkward and unwelcome. I wanted to leave at that point, but we decided to stay. What confused me is that the menu clearly states last call is at 9:30 every day, so I'm not sure why there seemed to be an issue with us coming in before then. The food and drinks were okay, but nothing memorable and definitely not worth the price considering the service experience. At one point, the chef even came out and asked the bartender in front of us if we were "done yet," despite there still being two other tables dining. By the time we finished eating around 9:45, those tables were still there as well. I understand staff wanting to close on time, but if your posted last call and closing times allow guests to come in, customers shouldn't be made to feel like an inconvenience for doing so. I hope ownership addresses this with the staff, because the overall experience felt rude and unwelcoming. read more

Had lunch and drinks here on a Thursday afternoon. Burgers were great, along with delicious cocktails. I tried their whiskey sour and a whiskey mule--both were spirit forward and great tasting. Much appreciated! The sliders I had were also very good. Service was on point as well. Overall a very nice location for good cocktails and food. read more

Been coming here for a while, Honestly love this place. Family friendly and pet friendly. Clean environment. Encountered some good and bad severs. Some have a little attitude and are very rude. My favorite is the giant pretzel when it's fresh. So on their happy hour 9 at 9pm menu, they have food items on the side which looks like it's happy hour items but it's not included it's only drinks and which sucks. Need to change it. False advertising. Drinks are pretty good. Love the smoked blueberry margarita! read more

Food was excellent. We also loved the vibe. Lots of patriotic flags and open air for dining. Our waitress was very attentive. The pretzel was awesome as an appetizer and we loved the turkey club. I mentioned we were going to share it and they actually put our meal on two plates and separated the sides without me asking - we were really impressed with that. The first time we went to this restaurant was around 4 years ago for brunch on a Sunday and we were not impressed as I had ordered a waffle and it was literally just 2 pieces for around $14 and I also had a cocktail which wasn't that great so we never went back until recently we tried it again for happy hour and we were impressed as their cocktails are so delicious. They were so great we went two weeks in a row. We also ordered their happy hour food the 3 tacos which were super tiny and the Oaxaca nachos which were decent to munch on but lack flavor and were a bit too dry. Our servers have been very friendly and attentive and constantly check in on us. We have went around 4:30pm-5pm and they are usually not that busy but more people start showing up right after that. Anyway we will definitely keep coming back as long as the drinks keep tasting great! read more

Ooh! Found a Whiskey Sour that ranks among my top 3! And, found the biggest pretzel I've ever had and the fact it came with sausage made it a no brainer. The sausage wasn't just a side. It almost shamed the pretzel. But the pretzel and dipping sauces held their own too. My wife, Gwen, had a jackfruit Greek salad with chicken and she looooved it. She also had a penicillin and really liked that too. Services and atmosphere were both great! Restrooms were clean which is a good sign! Server was friendly and checked in periodically at the right times but we never felt rushed. Overall, a 5! We'll be back and we look forward to trying out some other offerings! I've been here twice now. It's a big space, lots of tables. Both times we have gone, the service has sucked. Seems like they might be understaffed. It took nearly 20 minutes today for us to put in a drink order, and 15 minutes for them to come out. We were hardly checked on throughout our time there, too. Tables don't get bussed very quickly, so as parties leave, you will be surrounded by dirty tables. The drinks and food are good. I enjoyed the hummus, and my husband liked the artichoke dip with his black manhattan. Probably wouldn't recommend due to the service being so slow. read more

Had no idea they don't use the AC or the fans they have, what seemed like fans were on low. Came in around 5:15 pm today maybe 89 degrees out side, for drinks and birthday dinner for a friend. Place was warm when we entered / no air flow. Not busy by the looks of a few tables taken. Then we were seated and the table is dirty with food crumbs and sticky Like you waiters are too busy talking and doing what? Not cleaning tables that's one thing. Ok, so she comes back to bring water and I asked her to first bring a clean wash cloth for this table. Waters are sitting on the table next to us, she didn't bother to put them back on our table. I'm like yeah this ain't gonna get better it's going south fast. So we get up and leave. Not worth the lack of effort or time patronizing a business that doesn't respect its customers! Came into town to visit some family and whole across the street at Starbucks I noticed this place. We went in for lunch and sat at the bar. The bartender greeted us and ordered a couple of drinks. The drinks are great! I wish I could have tried more. My fiance ordered the coffee old fashion, I never heard of anyone making a coffee old fashion and it was very good. I recently had my first visit to J Riley Distillery on the occasion of a retirement party for one of my favorite co-workers. I was surprised that I'd never even known about this, let alone beet there! There were SO many things to love about it. I will admit that there was ONE thing I didn't love and that was that it was quite loud in there and we had a large group and speeches were taking place. There were a few others in there that were not part of our group, but we far outnumbered them, but they kept the music up even when we asked to lower it during speeches. Otherwise, though, I loved it. I had a wedge salad that was DELICIOUS. I love me a wedge, its that simple and I had a cocktail (or two) that were quite the Tasty Beverages (tm) Pretty sure my choice was the Woodsman. I like a whiskey drink with herbacious flavors, and it was so good I had a second. The distillery makes different spirits: different types of whiskies, rum, vodka and gin... not sure what else, but there is quite a selection and of course, there is beer. So its definitely a great place to have a drink. Pricing was average for this style of restaurant/bars and I loved that they let everyone order and pay separately. That is SO helpful. Staff was friendly and fast and overall, it was a really great location to have a party. Definitely recommend J Riley! read more

Sadly underwhelmed. The fish and chips were not good at all. The wedge salad was good but the core still intact so the lettuce probably not rinsed. The biggest issue is a 4% charge if you use a credit card. Which looking at google, is illegal in the state of California since July 2024. Not sure there may be loopholes on that. read more

3.5 Stars SERVICE (3 Stars): Follow up visit for brunch this time. While the service was not as stellar as on our first visit, it was okay. The staff was mostly friendly and attentive, but not overly engaging. To me, this sets the mood for the rest of the experience. DRINKS (4.5 Stars): I started brunch with their Bloody Mary ($10), and my wife had a Raspberry Paloma ($13). Both were pretty good, but we wanted to try something else. One of the "Seasonal Craft Cocktails" on our visit was the Strawberry Coconut Margarita ($13), and it was the bomb! So good, we ordered seconds. I wish they would make this a regular menu item. My mother-in-law had a regular coffee ($3) which came with free refills. FOOD (4 Stars): "They're So Fly" Chicken Wings ($14), The Porker ($17), and Fish & Chips ($18). We also shared an order of the Loaded Fries ($16). Everything was good, but I wouldn't say we were "wowed" by anything. I would say that the Fish & Chips were my favorite of the three, followed closely by the pulled pork sandwich. While my overall rating came down a little bit, I still believe that J. Ordered the ceviche, nachos and spinach artichoke dip. The only flavor in the ceviche was the lime that was overpowering. The nachos had clumps of ground beef with some cheese sauce, that is it... no flavor. The spinach artichoke dip was served in a small cast iron dish, but the top of cheese had grease on it and when it started to cool it curdled. Differently could not taste the spinach or the artichoke. May I add all the chips were extremely salty. read more

Party of six last night -- service was painfully slow. Our waiter never brought water took extremely long even after ordering a beer to get beer delivered to the table and offered no apology, claiming they were "busy" despite only a few tables being occupied. First off, let me just tell you how hard our server worked to try to make my 4-year-old son have a good time. He was in a typical little kid grumpy state. And he wanted to order juice. And he didn't want any specific kind of juice, but he wanted normal juice. Well, this lovely employee went to the back and grabbed an apple juice box and crossed out apple and wrote normal in big letters. She went above and beyond. She didn't have to do that. And it fooled him for a little while. And at least got him to calm down. We also ordered this giant pretzel. It was great. And I ordered a breakfast thing and a couple of my party members ordered lunch things. We got there right at the weird delineation between lunch stuff and breakfast stuff. First time visit! Ok after a miserable attempt to go to Rui's (sadly) we decided to check out J Riley's cause we could hear the live music. The energy when entering was fantastic. The singer was good and mellow and it just felt nice. We got our drinks and quickly Aaron came over to take our food order. We ordered fish and chips, the BLTA, Date burger, Riley burger and the off menu Tri tip sandwich. Everything was delicious! The date burger was amazing... so delicious and unique. It def challenges my love for Eureka burgers. We then took it outside and listened to the singer and guitar player... super nice vibe. We will be back! read more

We came here for a graduation dinner and took up the whole patio. I will say that with about 30 of us the service was exceptional. I tried the large bagel with nacho cheese and sausage as an appetizer and was able to share it with two other people - it was delicious and a good starter. For my entree, I had the Caesar salad with grilled chicken and initially I didn't like the concept of having to cut up my own lettuce but it was charred romaine lettuce and in combination with the pomegranate seeds and the hidden Caesar dressing, my meal was very satisfying. My husband had a double plain hamburger with smashed meat and he really enjoyed it. We didn't have any alcoholic beverages but everybody who did order appeared to enjoy their drinks.
