3.5 to 4 stars This is a little restaurant located on a busy road in a country setting. The parking lot was full when we arrived, but we found other parking on the side of the building. It's a small restaurant with a hometown feel - tables inside and a larger table in a side room. It's counter ordering with a large diverse menu. Kids menu items were great including Mac n cheese and chicken strips and fries. All came with a drink. Main entrees included hot items (shrimp & grits, meatloaf), salads, sandwiches and lots of vegetarian items. They also have a dessert area with large cookies, pies, etc. Our family ordered the kids chicken tenders, chicken tender wrap, BLT and turkey club sandwiches with fries. We also tried the fried okra. The fries were delicious and tasted homemade - the sandwiches were good. My sandwich was missing mayo which I didn't notice until after I was done eating. Really loved the food during opening... Went the other day around 5 and they were already out of nearly everything even though it was dead inside. Found out they no longer offer the chicken tenders plate and tried getting 3 different orders before finding one they weren't out of. That should have been sign to turn around but we decided to order and sit down. After spending over $70 on 2 kids meals and 2 basic adult meals, we decided we would never come back. The food was okay at best but certainly not worth the price. Our daughter did not like the Mac and cheese at all and ended up leaving the whole bowl untouched. The fries were incredibly soggy and sweet (they're sprinkled with sugar), and my wrap had maybe 1 dry piece of tender in it. I've heard great things about Uncle Lenny's so I stopped in here for lunch. I ordered the meat and two which was the Meatloaf, Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes with a corn muffin. It wasn't very busy for lunch so the food came out rather quickly. Are we reheating? Or just not heating all? Cold mashed potatoes, lukewarm warm green beans and dry meatloaf. I had the pleasure of eating breakfast at Uncle Lenny's yesterday. The food was amazing: fresh eggs, homemade bread, and real breakfast potatoes made from baked potatoes. It was delicious. The atmosphere was also wonderful & the staff was incredibly friendly & attentive. Although the restaurant is a half hour from my home, it was well worth the drive. What amazing food and service. It's a small cafe style restaurant that just oozes quaint. Happened to take a chance because The Lovelace Cafe had a 2 hour wait!!! We were seated wherever we wanted to sit. I had the cheeseburger with bacon, and my wife did the pierogi plate and a cup of chicken dumpling soup. The food was amazing!! We even got to talk to I think the manager there. She was so friendly, even giving us a cookie to go after finding out we were visiting for our anniversary. Sorry but today's experience was not as favorable as last week. First, I will say that whatever was happening in the kitchen the direct customer staff remained calm and friendly. But the customers were getting agitated. One lady was talking to everyone that came in about the size of the chairs and that she wasn't offered a military discount. She came in right behind us and received her order as we were about to finish our meal. She talks. When we first walked in we were told to sit down in the chairs and wait to be called up to the cashier to give our order. "We are not taking orders at the moment." So we sat down until we were called on to give our order. We gave our order, paid and found a seat. We then waited 40 minutes for our food. When we received our order this is how it went......my hot chicken hoagie had nothing on it except the chicken and bread?, I did not receive my side order of macaroni and cheese and my husband did not receive his cherry cheesecake. It took an additional 15 minutes to get these items once we made it known that they were missing. Again, the staff was friendly but......... What happened? A lady and her daughter came down and sat down next to us and said that it was their first time and asked how it was. Went in to Uncle Lenny's for the first time yesterday. The food was good don't get me wrong but it was the service and the employees that gave me the reason for this 2 star review. I had jus been about halfway into eating my food when by the kitchen /service door I see a boy- who I assume to be a worker there, about 6'3"- 6'4", blonde with glasses. He had brought out a wet plate with his dish rag over his shoulder and the plate was dripping water all over the floor. I observed him walk over to a waiter and kind of limply hit his fellow employee over the head with this sopping wet rag. In doing so, he soaked not only his coworker but also a table nearby which had a family trying to enjoy their meal. It was just very odd and childish behavior that I wasn't very fond of to be in such a calm and somber restaurant. For that reason I'm giving this review 2 stars. Food was good though! read more

We have come to eat here at least five to six times, as we live locally. There seems to be a common theme here where the staff is constantly APOLOGIZING for the wait. Every time we come here, we wait for over 30+ minutes to get our food and when the food arrives it's' either cold or lukewarm - this has happened every time. Today, was the final straw as we will no longer be patronizing the restaurant. We like the fact that the restaurant is local and there is nothing better than supporting your local business, but at some point, you need to draw the line and today was it. My five star rating is by comparison to other local alternatives. I have only had breakfasts so far, but the food is fresh, well prepared, and just a cut above the competition. As examples, our waffles had generous fresh fruit, the buttermilk pancakes were perfect, and there was a maple syrup option. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant has lots of windows for a natural bright ambience. My one suggestion would be to keep the coffee a bit hotter, but overall Uncle Lenny's is a very pleasant experience. read more
